Whilst most focus on maintaining and protecting the facial skin barrier, it is crucial that your body skin is not neglected.  People are becoming increasingly conscious of how to take care of their body with #showertok searches over 4 billion on TikTok.

CeraVe Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Alexis Granite’s body skin saviours

“The head and neck make up 9% of our skin surface area*, the rest is over the body. Looking after and protecting the skin on our body is vital to preventing dryness. A healthy skin barrier ensures that our skin stays hydrated and smooth instead of parched and flaky”.

CeraVe Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Alexis Granite

“It is all about adding hydration back into the skin. This can be done in a variety of ways including:

  • Moisturise regularly with CeraVe to deliver instant and long-lasting hydration
  • Add moisture back into the air with humidifiers and diffusers
  • Keep the heating down and low as tolerable
  • Avoid super rough or scratchy fabrics on your body
  • When showering, make sure water is cleared of chlorine, hard minerals, and impurities so it's kinder to your skin”

Dr Alexis Granite notes “A good body care routine is just as important as your facial skincare. I always recommend you moisturise your body daily to keep it feeling soft and supple, but in the colder months it’s worth upping the ante with a dedicated hydrating cleanser. CeraVe’s body range is formulated with ceramides – a natural element within our skin that help support barrier function, as well as lock in moisture. CeraVe Moisturising Cream (RRP €18) or Lotion (RRP €12.50) is perfect for this time of year, as is its Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser (RRP €15)."

CeraVe’s Hero Ingredients Proven to Combat Dry Skin

With CeraVe’s patented MVE technology, feel the benefits of dosing skin in hydration that lasts for up to 24 hours.

Ceramides:

At the core of all CeraVe formulations are three essential ceramides: 1, 3,6-11. Ceramides are naturally occurring within our skin and help serve as the building blocks which support and maintain a healthy skin barrier. “Emollients – including ceramides and fatty acids are found within the CeraVe range. They enhance your skin’s natural lipid barrier, meaning they lock in moisture and keep it there.” noted Dr Alexis Granite.

Hyaluronic Acid:

Formulated with Hyaluronic acid to aid retention of the skin’s natural moisture. “Hyaluronic acid is a humectant produced naturally by our bodies that helps trap ambient moisture and prevent transepidermal water loss. This increases the overall water content within the skin. Hyaluronic acid also helps with wound healing and smooths skin texture.” added Dr Alexis Granite.

Glycerin:

“Glycerin is a humectant that occurs naturally within our skin, pulling in ambient moisture and preventing TEWL. It also is involved in the transport of proteins that carry hydrating substances to the uppermost layers of the skin. In skincare, glycerin is plant-derived or synthetic.” noted Dr Alexis Granite.

CeraVe is available from all major retailers and all good pharmacies nationwide.

Montana Brown has opened up about a recent scary incident which involved her being hospitalised.

The former Love Island star, who revealed she was expecting her first child back in December, had ‘reduced foetal movements’, meaning she couldn't feel her baby moving as she normally would.

Erring on the side of caution, Montana headed to hospital and has now shared an update with her 1.2M Instagram followers.

Speaking on her Instagram Stories, the 27-year-old explained, “Hi everyone, sorry I've been so MIA. I haven't got back to anybody”.

“We have had a little bit of a week with reduced foetal movement, so we were like, ‘Oh my god we need to go and just get this checked out”.

“And obviously, our main thought was just that it's probably nothing sinister – just wanted to be safe”.

Montana continued, “I'm so glad that we actually ended up changing hospitals so it's more local, so it's our nearest hospital, like 25 minutes”.

“So, we were in triage. They did that little heart rate monitor thing… but that monitors the heartbeat over like 30 minutes, so we did that twice”.

“Everything looked fine. We then had an ultrasound. Again, baby was moving, but just like kind-of in a weird position and so we're also having some extra tests done. I just feel so much better”.

In the caption, the former reality TV reflected on the NHS staff that helped her while she was in hospital.

“NHS had such a lovely team at our hospital. Feel so bad as obviously v understaffed. We were there Tuesday from 10:15pm – 2:45am. We went back yesterday and the midwives, doctors and sonographers were so helpful”.

She added, “Baby's tummy looked on the small side so we're going back for a growth scan and potentially another test if we get a call today from foetal medicine”.

“I felt a bit bad at the start for going in so much but I think it's important to go with your gut and be over cautious”.

Montana announced she was expecting a baby boy with her partner Mark O’Connor with a sweet gender reveal video last week. The mum-to-be was surrounded by loved ones as she popped a balloon that released blue confetti into the air.

The investigation into the disappearance of Annie McCarrick has now been upgraded to a murder inquiry.

Annie, an American woman, was 26 years old at the time of her disappearance on March 26, 1993. Annie had moved to Ireland from New York to live permanently in January 1993 and settled in a rental accommodation at St. Catherine’s Court, Sandymount, Dublin 4, with two other tenants.

Ms McCarrick worked as a waitress at the Courtyard Restaurant Donnybrook and as a waitress at Café Java Leeson Street.

On Thursday, March 25 1993, Annie was not working but called to Café Java to collect her wages but as they were not ready, she arranged to call again on Friday 26 to collect them. She then visited friends and stayed for dinner.

On Friday, March 26 1993, Annie spoke to both her flatmates before they left separately to travel home for the weekend.

Shortly before 11am Annie visited the AIB on Sandymount Road. This is the last confirmed sighting of Annie McCarrick, which was captured on CCTV.

Annie had made arrangements with friends, inviting them to her apartment for dinner on the next day Saturday, March 27.  Annie’s mum was also due to visit her on March 30, 1993.

There have been reported sightings of Annie in the Sandymount Green area, boarding a No.44 bus bound for Enniskerry and in Enniskerry village and Johnny Fox’s pub.

On March 28, 1993, friends of Annie McCarrick were concerned for her welfare as she was not home for her arranged dinner and did not turn up for work on either on Saturday 27 or Sunday 28.

Groceries purchased by Annie on the morning of Friday 26 March 1993, in Quinnsworth, Sandymount Road, had been left unpacked in shopping bags in her apartment. A receipt in the bags confirmed the date and time of purchase as 26/03/1993 11:02am. This is the last confirmed activity by Annie McCarrick.

Annie was reported missing by a friend on the evening of March 28 at Irishtown Garda Station. This missing person report was confirmed by her mother Nancy when she arrived in Dublin on March 30, 1993.

Annie is described as 5'8" in height, 10 stone, long brown hair. She spoke with a soft Irish-American accent. When Annie disappeared it is believed she was in possession of a large brown leather bag.

Gardaí have kept an open and active investigation into the disappearance of Annie McCarrick which has been carried out by a dedicated investigation team based at Irishtown Garda Station over the 30 years.

Based on the information available to the investigation team at Irishtown Garda station, today Friday March 24, 2023, An Garda Síochána confirmed that this missing person investigation has now been reclassified as a murder investigation.

Detective Superintendent Carroll, DMR South Central is making the following public appeal for information stating, “I want to speak to any person who met, spoke with or had any interaction with Annie McCarrick on the 26th March 1993 or subsequently. There are person or persons, who have information on the disappearance of Annie McCarrick and her murder on or about the 26th March 1993 and who haven’t yet spoken to Gardaí or who may have already spoken to Gardaí but were not in a position to tell everything that they know at that time”.

“I want to speak with any person who has any information on the large brown handbag which it is believed that Annie was in possession of when she went missing. I am appealing to those persons, 30 years later, to please come forward and speak to the investigation team”.

Carroll continued, “The primary focus of this investigation is the victim, Annie McCarrick and her family. Annie’s father John has passed away not knowing what happened to his daughter. Annie’s mother Nancy deserves to know the truth, she deserves to know what happened to her daughter on or about the 26th March 1993. She is waiting 30 years for those answers”.

“I, and the Investigation Team are determined to gather all available information/ evidence to find those answers and bring this matter to a positive conclusion”.

Concluding Detective Superintendent Carroll appealed, “I would urge any person or persons with information in relation to the Murder of Annie McCarrick to please come forward to either the investigation team at Irishtown Garda Station at 01 6669600, your local Garda Station or the Garda Confidential telephone line 1800 666 111”.

“I appeal to any person who have information relative to Annie’s murder not to assume we know and/or that it has limited value.  Let us make that decision”.

Laura Anderson has broken her silence!

The former Love Island star has seemingly responded to reports that she is unhappy with her ex Gary Lucy’s behaviour.

The former couple announced last month that they are expecting a baby together. Yesterday, former Hollyoaks actor Gary took to his own Instagram account to reveal that he and Laura will be having a baby girl.

The 41-year-old posted a sweet graphic saying ‘Daddy’s girl’, alongside a recent snapshot from one of Laura’s baby scans.

“For everyone that has been asking… Let’s hope she inherits her mummy’s looks,” he teased alongside the announcement.

“Thanks for all the lovely messages from everyone… so excited to meet my little baby bear soon!” Gary added.

Following Gary’s message, reports from a source close to Laura were released, claiming that the 33-year-old was upset by the gender reveal.

“Gary announced the gender news without getting Laura’s consent. She’s really upset by this,” the source stated yesterday evening.

However, it seems that Laura has now officially broken her silence on the matter!

The expectant mum took to her Instagram stories earlier this morning, and re-shared an adorable video of a little girl stating: “Ssh! I can’t do negative today. Positive vibes, positive vibes!”

Laura then made her true feelings known in a short caption below the video. “Today is going to be a good day right gang! Love you all more than you know,” she gushed.

Laura and Gary first met last year, when they both took part in the reality show Celebs Go Dating. Sparks soon began to fly between the pair, and at the end of the series’ run, they delighted fans by confirming that they were still together.

On February 15, Laura then shared that she was expecting her first child with Gary. Although her video announcement featured the actor, Gary later stated that he and Laura were no longer in a relationship.

The former Love Island contestant recently insisted to fans during a Q&A that she will “definitely not” be getting back together with Gary in the future, but that they will co-parent their child.
