New research from Tony’s Chocolonely has revealed the counties with the biggest sweet tooth in Ireland ahead of Easter.

While Easter has different meanings for everyone, we can all agree chocolate is an essential part of the holiday celebrations. With that in mind, Tony’s Chocolonely, the chocolate maker on a mission to make 100% slave free the norm in chocolate, has done some digging, and combed through Google searches for chocolate in each county, to reveal the counties which are home to Ireland’s biggest chocolate lovers!

Dublin tops the list with 48% of the search volume across Ireland! Cork comes in second at 10% searches in the last year. Meanwhile, Galway placed third at 4%, Kildare landed the fourth spot at 3.5% and Meath came in fifth with 3% of searches. Limerick, Louth, Wicklow, Tipperary and Kerry also make up the top ten of chocolate lovers!

Here’s the Top 10:

Each year, chocolate consumption spikes across Ireland for Easter weekend but do we really know whether the chocolate we eat is ethically produced?

According to the new piece of research from Tony’s Chocolonely, conducted in partnership with Bounce Insights, only 29% of Irish people have heard about Modern Slavery on cocoa plantations and only 33% of respondents had heard about Child Labour and other forms of exploitation occurring on cocoa farms.

Meanwhile, a whopping 91% believe that all food companies should be tackling illegal labour in their supply chains, 92% agreed that farmers around the world should be paid a living wage and 77% of respondents also agreed that it was important that the food they buy is from traceable and transparent supply chains. Most importantly, 78% of those surveyed said that they would like the brands they buy to help them be more ethical in their daily life.

Commenting on the findings Nicola Matthews, UKI Head of Marketing at Tony’s Chocolonely has said:

“At Tony's Chocolonely our mission is to make all chocolate 100% slave free and empower chocolate lovers to opt for ethically produced chocolate. Our consumer research in Ireland shows that Irish shoppers want to know where their food comes from, and whether it is ethically produced and responsibly sourced, but the findings highlighted a clear gap in knowledge about some of the bitter truths of chocolate production.

Indeed, there are still over 1.5 million cases of child labour present in the chocolate industry in Ghana and Cote d’ Ivoire today. With chocolate lovers gearing up to celebrate with friends and family this Easter, we wanted to remind everyone to opt for sustainable and ethical chocolate without compromising on flavour or fun.”

All Tony’s Chocolonely products are made with Fairtrade cocoa, are palm oil and plastic free and most come in fully recyclable packaging, from the paper pouch to the aluminium foil wrapping the eggs, ensuring you can make a conscious choice all year round.

Not to mention, Tony's Chocolonely has four limited-edition Easter products which are perfect for gifting and are available now in Tesco, Dunnes Stores, SuperValu, Fresh and Centra, online here and from independent retailers Brown Thomas, Earth Mother and Independent Irish Health Foods and The Counter Donegal, while stocks last!

Khloe Kardashian has finally dropped a massive hint about her son’s name.

The 38-year-old welcomed her second child into the world via surrogate in August 2022 with her ex-partner Tristan Thompson, and has kept their baby boy’s name a secret from the world since.

Now, Khloe has shared a huge insight into the tot’s name while speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, and also spoke about how her five-year-old daughter, True, finds being a big sister.

Khloe revealed her baby boy’s name starts with a ‘T’, which matches her daughter’s name, True, and explained the reason why she’s waited so long to announce it.

“He’s named, but I haven’t announced it yet. Originally, he was delivered via surrogate, or the stork I like to say, and at first I really did not know what I was going to name him. I wanted to meet him and feel him out a little bit so at first he didn’t have a name. Then, he’s been named”.

“I’ve been waiting for the premiere of our show and I didn’t know it was going to be this far out, so now I’m just like, ‘If my daughter outs me, I’m screwed’”.

When Kelly asked if Khloe’s little boy’s moniker starters with a ‘T’ as fans had been speculating, the mum-of-two responded. “I think it will start with a T, yeah, it will start with a T”.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also shared sweet details about her son. “He’s eight months old and he is a little chunk and I wouldn’t have it any other way… I love a chubby baby”.

“He is a quiet baby, he’s a happy baby which is amazing and my daughter was the same so I’ve been lucky twice”.

Khloe then detailed how her daughter has been since her little brother arrived. “She loves being a big sister and I was worried because I wasn’t pregnant and I didn’t know if it would be hard for her to understand”.

“It’s just crazy how resilient and instinctual children are and she’s so maternal and loving and she’s such a good big sister”.

After 30 years in the industry and now one of the best known names in Irish beauty and skincare, celebrity Irish skin expert Eavanna Breen today announces the rebrand of her renowned Dublin 2 beauty and laser clinic to the ‘Eavanna Breen Beauty and Laser Clinic’

The rebrand also coincides with the launch of Eavanna Breen’s first ever self-made skincare product: introducing the Eavanna Breen Hyaluronic Intensive Serum, in collaboration with German skincare brand, Skinmade.

And if that isn’t enough, Eavanna has also redesigned and invested in her Dublin 2 clinic, giving it a beautiful new minimalist aesthetic but most importantly keeping the best in Irish skincare talent.

Speaking about the rebranding of ‘Akina Beauty and Laser Clinic’ to ‘Eavanna Breen Beauty and Laser Clinic’, Eavanna said:

“I have poured my heart and soul into building this clinic, and I wanted to reflect that by rebranding it under my own name. By doing so, I am making a statement that I stand behind the quality of services we provide and that my personal reputation is on the line with every client that walks through our doors. It's not just a business, it's a reflection of who I am and what I believe in."

“I’m also excited to breathe new life into the clinic alongside the new name, I am currently giving the clinic a makeover. We’ve been working with an incredible Irish creative team on everything from the new logo, to the new look and atmosphere of the clinic”.

Skinmade by Eavanna Breen ‘Hyaluronic Intensive Serum’

Never one to rest on her laurels, Eavanna has always been renowned across the Irish beauty industry for continuously seeking out new, effective and innovative approaches to skincare. And in her 30+ years within this industry, no skincare brand has ever impressed her as much as German, artificial-intelligence led brand ‘Skinmade’. The clinic rebrand coincides with Eavanna finally introducing her first ever self-made skincare product, introducing the Skinmade by Eavanna Breen ‘Hyaluronic Intensive Serum’.

Now at 50 years old and feeling like she is at the pinnacle of her career, Eavanna has finally put her immense knowledge base built up to this point into designing an expert skincare product. After two years of planning and development, the Skinmade by Eavanna Breen ‘Hyaluronic Intensive Serum’ ensures the skin remains hydrated while also helping to reduce wrinkles and lines. Like all Skinmade products, the new serum has been developed and trialled in the world’s number one applied science institute in Munich.

Speaking about the new serum launch, Eavanna Breen said:

“We have worked tirelessly to develop a unique formula. This hyaluronic acid serum gives the skin a sudden moisture boost and, at the same time, improves its hydration level over a longer period of time. The peptides in the serum slow the thinning of ageing skin and help to minimise fine lines. We have included hyaluronic acids of different molecular weights to hydrate the skin on all levels: the skin looks plump and feels supple. Its elasticity is improved, and the production of hyaluronic acid within the skin cells is stimulated as well, delivering exceptional results.”

Speaking about why she developed a hyaluronic acid product, Eavanna said:

"One of the most common conditions I see in the clinic is a compromised skin barrier. Introducing a hyaluronic acid serum into a skincare range is one of the best additions you can make, as it helps to replenish and boost the skin's natural moisture barrier, repairing the skin and giving it a more youthful and radiant complexion. The Intensive Hyaluronic acid serum is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and is suitable for all skin types, making it a versatile option that can be easily incorporated into any skincare routine. By adding this hyaluronic acid serum to your skincare range, you have a powerful tool to help combat the signs of aging and maintain a healthy, glowing complexion.”

Germany and Ireland come together for this collaboration due to Skinmade boasting the world’s most advanced skincare technology and Eavanna Breen’s incomparable knowledgebase. Skinmade uses only skin-identical ingredients of the highest quality to make the best skincare products in the world.

The new serum is available at the Eavanna Breen Clinic or online at www.eavannabreen.ie for €70.00. Eavanna and her expert team of beauty therapists are available for consultation at Eavanna Breen Clinic on Dublin 2’s Leeson Street where Eavanna and her team will advise you on the best products and treatment courses for your skin type and ensure your skin is at its healthiest it can be.

Irish Sirloin Steak & Truffle Dauphinoise with Pan-fried Broccoli

Cooked to perfection, melt-in-your-mouth steak is the standout star in this dish. Elevating this meal even further are tender fried broccoli and decadent truffle dauphinoise.

Ingredients:

Potatoes x 2

Garlic x 1 clove

Broccoli x 1 piece

Beef stock cube

125g creme fraiche

Dash of truffle oil

250g 21 Day Aged Sirloin Steak

Method:

Stage 1:

  • Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7.
  • Peel and slice the potatoes into ½ cm thick rounds.
  • Peel and grate the garlic (or use a garlic press).

Stage 2:

  • Place a pot over medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
  • Once hot, fry the garlic for 1 min. Add 125ml water (double for 4p), beef stock powder and creme fraiche.
  • Carefully add the potatoes to the sauce. Season with ¼ tsp salt and pepper (double both for 4p).
  • Bring to the boil, cover and reduce heat to medium. Stir regularly to prevent sticking.
  • Simmer for 15-20 mins, until potatoes are parboiled then add the truffle oil and stir to incorporate.

Stage 3:

  • Carefully transfer the parboiled potatoes and truffle sauce to an appropriately-sized oven dish.
  • Pop into the oven and bake until the sauce is bubbling and the potatoes are cooked through, 15-20 mins.
  • TIP: You want the dauphinoise to be 2-3 cm thick—keep this in mind when choosing an oven dish.

Stage 4:

  • Meanwhile, place a large pan over high heat with a drizzle of oil. Season the sirloin with salt and pepper.
  • Once hot, fry the sirloin until browned, 1-2 mins each side for medium-rare. IMPORTANT: Wash your hands and equipment after handling raw meat and its packaging.
  • Cook for another 1-2 mins on each side if you want it more well-done.
  • Once cooked, transfer to a board, cover and allow to rest. Meat is safe to eat when the outside is browned.

Stage 5:

  • Meanwhile, cut the broccoli into florets (like small trees). Halve any large florets.
  • Wipe the pan before returning it to medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
  • Once hot, fry the broccoli for 2-3 mins with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Add a splash of water then cover with a lid or some foil. Cook until tender, 4-5 mins.

Stage 6:

  • Thinly slice the sirloin and divide between plates.

Serving Suggestion

Serve the truffled potato dauphinoise and broccoli alongside.
