UK Prime Minister Theresa May and new Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar have had a telephone conversation regarding Irish-UK relations post-Brexit.

The discussion is said to have occurred during a call in which May congratulated Taoiseach Leo Varadker on his new position.

'The Prime Minister spoke to Leo Varadkar on the phone earlier today to offer her congratulations on becoming Taoiseach,' a Downing Street spokeswoman told The Belfast Telegraph.

'The Taoiseach expressed his deepest sympathies for recent tragic events and said the thoughts of the Irish people were with the people of London at this time.

'Both leaders agreed on the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries and the Prime Minister said she was personally committed to a close and special partnership with Ireland as the UK embarks on leaving the European Union.'

'They also spoke about a crucial need for the parties in Northern Ireland to come together to form a fully functioning Executive by the 29 June and how both leaders would continue to engage closely on this important issue.'

'The Prime Minister also emphasised her steadfast commitment to the Belfast Agreement and its successors and the two leaders agreed to meet in person at the earliest.'

The Great Dublin survey has really made us have a little giggle.

The survey asked Dubliners about their views for the city in 2050, and there's some surprising answers.

One thing people asked for is a three-day working week (which we're all for), while others want a cable car running between Dundrum and the Wicklow Mountains.

Here's the top ten suggestions:

  1. Phoenix Park made into a golf course

  2. A 3-day working week

  3. Water taxis/boats used to commute down the Liffey

  4. High rise buildings along the coast

  5. Ban fast-food outlets from O’Connell Street

  6. Cars banned within the canals

  7. Grand Canal Dock to be made into a heated outdoor public swimming pool

  8. A cable car will run between Dundrum and the Wicklow Mountains

  9. Create a second Bull Island in Dublin Bay

  10. Hold Me Now by Johnny Logan will be Ireland’s National Anthem

But in all seriousness, The Dublin Chamber of Commerce said that so far, many are calling out for better transport around the city, an underground rail system and to end homelessness.

If you want to take the survey yourself, you can do so here.

Last July, Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers, made the incredibly misguided decision to secretly photograph a 70-year-old woman she encountered showering in the female locker room of a Californian gym.

Not content to just invade the woman's privacy by secretly photographing her, Dani then went on to share the image online, with the caption: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either."

And, unsurprisingly, it wasn't long before the 30-year-old was the subject of intense online vitriol, but if Dani thought that was the worst of her problems, she was sorely mistaken.

The model then became the focus of LA authorities, who ultimately charged her with a misdemeanor count of invasion of privacy – a charge she pleaded no contest to in May of this year in court,

With almost twelve months perspective on a case which caused considerable damage to the model's reputation and career, Dani decided to address the fall-out from the past year while chatting with Us Weekly,

Acknowledging that she made a grave error in judgement, Dani said: "I am sorry that it happened to this woman. But I am not sorry about what happened to me."

"My life flipped upside down. But it’s a blessing in disguise," she added.

After taking a year-long break from social media, Dani has realised the significance of her actions, and insists that she doesn't intend to downplay it.

"The bottom line is: "I’m so sorry." I never intended to hurt her. There was a lot of pain caused and I think she would like to put this behind her, as would I."

Having described the episode as a' blessing in disguise' Dani elaborated on her thought process, explaining: "When you’re told how much of a monster you are, it pushes you to look inside."

"I don’t ever want to be someone spitting hate. That’s really what I’ve learned. I also gained a lot of empathy and learned that everybody, at some point, has judged a person."

"Going through this past year and making it to the other side, I know I can handle almost anything," she insisted.

Dani now works with charity, Coupla Guys and Gals Give Back and currently heads up their anti-bullying department.

With Leo Varadkar stating last night that an abortion referendum will be held in Ireland next year, there's no better time for the release of Twice Shy.

The movie depicts a young couple travelling over to the UK to seek out an abortion, something many women in Ireland have had to go through.

The timely indie narrative features Ardal O'Hanlon and Pat Shortt, with the main roles being played by Shane Murray-Corcoran and Iseult Casey.

Twice Shy documents the ups and downs that the relationship faces on its dramatic journey to the abortion clinic, and will also have flashbacks of happier times in the romance.

The film also boasts a soundtrack with some of Ireland’s top musical talents including Ash, Gavin James, Republic of Loose and The Corrs.

It was filmed in Tipperary, Dublin and London, and has hit numerous festivals since its world debut at the Galway Film Fleadh last year.

Looking at the trailer, it's chilling and heart-wrenching, and we believe it needs to be seen by everyone in this country.

The thought-provoking movie will be released in Ireland on June 23, and you can watch the trailer below:

Never before seen footage has emerged of One Direction reuniting after Louis Tomlinson's performance on The X Factor last December.

Just three days after Louis' mam passed away, the singer performed Just Hold On to honour his late mother.

Many speculated that Harry, Liam and Niall would show up, and since we didn't know any better, we thought they were a no-show.

However, a short video has emerged which shows the lads all together again after Louis' performance.

In the 3-second clip, Liam is seen hugging Louis, as Niall and Harry stand beside them.

We're sure their support meant to world to Louis, and we're delighted to see the lads all back together again.

Here we go again.

Is it just us, or is this bizarre denim trend getting a little out of control?

Well, the latest offering from Y Project may just be the strangest yet.

The French fashion brand are known for their 'unique' designs, but these new jeans are just next-level.

The “detachable button down pants” consist of two denim trouser legs attached by suspenders to a waist belt.

And yes. That does mean your bum is completely on show.

The model on the website teams the 'jeans' with an over-sized shirt in an attempt to protect her modesty, and while we're all about wearing what makes you comfortable, we just cannot wrap our heads around this one.

Gigi Hadid was spotted sporting one of the brand's other designs in New York on Saturday night, but let's be real, that girl would look great in anything.

But if you do fancy giving Gigi a run for her money, you can pick up a pair of your very own detachable button down pants at fwrd.com.

Although you'd probably need her bank account too seeing as these jeans come in at just over €508.

Absolute notions if you ask us.

When it comes to prepping for a trip abroad, there are a number of things that most of us take into consideration before boarding our flight. And up there with confirming we have our passport is ensuring the safety of our luggage.

With that in mind, many of us opt to write our names and addresses on luggage labels, but according to some experts, this act is potentially asking for trouble.

Commenting on a move most of us have made, travel expert, Richard Clive Owens, explains that sharing your details on luggage labels ultimately announces "This house is empty, please burgle – and take your time."

"Don't put a friend's house because the criminals don't know it's a friend's house and will still burgle it," he added, according to mamamia.com

Offering an alternative method, Richard suggests we make use of our place of employment, saying: "Put a work address and mobile number on it.Then, even if your mobile has a problem, your name and work address will help you and your underwear get reunited."

And Richard's stalwart advice doesn't end there.

For anyone concerned that they're unlikely to reach their destination at the same time as their luggage, he advises taking a photo of your suitcase in order to present it to authorities if needed.

"Every time you fly, print this and carry it with you," he advised.

"If you ever lose your luggage, you can hand this to lost luggage when you arrive and, even if they don’t speak your language, they have everything they need to find your luggage."

This lad has thought of everything.

At one point or another, everyone will suffer from blemishes.

Whether it's in your teens, 20s, 30s or beyond, breaking out can seriously damage your confidence and put a dent in your self-esteem.

However, this skincare range for oily and blemish-prone skin has a huge success rate, and it might just be skincare secret we've all been waiting on.

La Roche-Posay's award-winning Effaclar range is being extended this year, adding two new treatments to its line.

The line promises to provide a correcting and hydrating product in one, and since 2014 has garnered rave reviews.

Here's what's new to the Effaclar collection:

Effaclar Purifying Mask – €15

Promises to: Unclog pores, control shine and cleanse deep impurities.

This mask will offer an immediate clean-feel finish, and won't cause your skin to dry out, like many other masks do.

La Roche-Posay conducted a survey and found that 69 per cent of users saw a reduction in excess sebum immediately after using this, and 85 per cent reported a reduction within four weeks.

Effaclar Duo [+] SPF 30 – €18.50

Promises to: Correct uneven skin tone, hydrate and now protect your skin

New dermatological research from La Roche-Posay claims that UV exposure can actually worsen acne by over-drying and activating sebum glands.

Effaclar Duo [+] SPF 30 will tackle your imperfections, even out your skin tone, as well as protect your skin against UVA rays, UVB rays and pollution.

In the consumer survey which La Roche-Posay carried out, 89 per cent of participants said their skin looked smoother and 83 per cent said their skin cleared after four weeks of use.

With results like that, it would be crazy to not try this range out!

Despite feeling confident in her body, mum-of-two, Roberta von Meding, recently revealed that she didn’t feel comfortable in it.

Having given birth to two children and suffered through pre eclampsia, oedema and severe diastasis recti, Roberta knows that her body is capable of enduring substantial trauma, but the aftermath of this has understandably left the 32-year-old in considerable discomfort.

The nature of diastasis recti means that Roberta’s stomach muscles have separated which ultimately puts excess strain on her neck and back leaving her unable to take part in certain physical activities.

While Roberta reveals she’s ‘the fittest she’s been’ in her life, she explains that she is unable to counteract the effects of the post-birth trauma.

“I still have the appearance of someone who is six or seven months pregnant if I have a big drink of water. My stomach just balloons out and no amount of sit-ups is going to fix it.”

Keen to reverse the effects of the post-birth trauma which includes the development of hernias in her abdomen, Roberta sought the advice of professionals, and ultimately chose to have an abdominoplasty in the Avoca Clinic.

“When I went to the Avoca Clinic for my first consultation, I was a little bit apprehensive, a little bit nervous” Roberta admitted. “But as soon as I walked in I felt very welcome, It almost felt like being in a beauty spa."

“I met my surgeon and he was wonderful. He listened to all my concerns, looked at my tummy and told me I was a perfect candidate for the surgery. He assured me he could sew up the hernias and give me a full muscle repair and tuck. He showed me previous patients’ ‘before and after’ surgery photos and that was very helpful.”

“The consultation lasted about half an hour, and you’re then given a two-week cooling-off period to let you process the information,” Roberta explains.

Using the following fortnight to compile a ‘lengthy list of questions’, Roberta returned for a second consultation with the surgeon. He went through her concerns before the mum-of-two decided to proceed with the surgery.

Roberta admitted that she was ‘a little bit nervous’ in the 30 minutes before her surgery, but felt comforted by the fact that she had all the information she needed in the run-up to the procedure.

In the hours following the surgery, the mum-of-two experienced some pain which was treated with morphine and sleep. The day after the surgery, Roberta said the discomfort had subsided hugely, explaining: “The pain level was a two or three. Nothing unbearable. Just on Difene and Paracetamol.”

Three days after her successful procedure, Roberta was back at home and said she experienced a little chestiness as a result of the anaesthetic and was walking ‘slightly hunched over’ as was to be expected. As the days passed, Roberta found that her sleep was improving and she said she was hugely excited to see the results of her surgery.

Six days post-op, Roberta was ‘feeling good’ and excited to have her second drain removed. Commenting on the removal of the first internal drain, Roberta said: ”The nurse lay me down and it felt like a gentle tugging feeling. It wasn’t actually that sore. It was manageable.”

Returning to the Avoca Clinic to have her dressing done, Roberta said she was thrilled with the results of her surgery.

“It was the first time actually seeing the scar and my new stomach and I’m so pleased. Very, very happy. It didn’t hurt getting the bandages off. Not a huge amount of sensation.” she explained.

Ten days post-op, Roberta said she was feeling ‘a lot more like herself", but admitted that having had her final drain removed, she'd be lying if she said it was a walk in the park.

“But once it was done, it was done,” she stressed. “Like an injection, very fast. A little bit sore, but fine.”

Almost a fortnight after her surgery, Roberta explains that she is still sleeping upright in her bed and urges potential candidates to consider this, but recommends placing pillows at strategic angles to alleviate discomfort.

Now looking to the future, she considered the next steps of her recovery.

“I would imagine I’ll keep wearing my compression stockings which are not that great considering it’s very hot out today with the mini heatwave for the Leaving Cert coming up! I’ll probably be told to keep the binder on for a few weeks as well,” she reasoned.

Roberta will be returning for a final consultation in the coming days, and we'll be sure to update you on her progress!
