Ever since Gillian Anderson returned to our screens to reprise her role as Scully in the X Files, many audience members have speculated that the 47-year-old looks amazing for her age.

And some reckon she looks too good.

A recent tabloid article claimed that the actress had had work done to… well every single aspect of her face.

Reports circulated that Gillian had work done to her lips, eyes, cheekbones, neck and basically every other part of her entire face.

But the actress did not take the rumours lying down and took to her Facebook to set the record straight.

"If it weren't so sad, this bollocks would have made my day."

"This is how I really look! #agingwithoutshame," read the post as the actress shared an image of herself now.

This is how I really look! #agingwithoutshame

Posted by Gillian Anderson on Friday, February 12, 2016

The report comes just months after Gillian opened up to the Edit about appreciating women's work.

"I like women a lot, and I champion them. I tell people when they are beautiful. I tell other actresses when I think their work is amazing.

"So I think women feel relatively comfortable in my presence. Also, because I'm not perfect, you know?"

She was also quick to speak about her own imperfections.

"I've got flabby thighs, I'm aging and I'm 5'3. I talk about my failing in contemporary society in terms of gyms or food or whatever. I think there's a polite appreciation that I'm honest."

Well we definitely appreciate you, Gillian.

While there is a lot to talk about regarding the Late Late Shows' Valentine's Special, one standout moment was an audience members absolute disgust during one outrageous part of the show.

Yep, one woman really thought Daniel O' Donnel was making a surprise appearance to make all her Valentine's Day dreams come true and got understandably… well… very excited.

So of course when Daniel turned out to actually be Mario Rosenstock doing a pretty gas impression of the Irish crooner, this woman was not at all impressed.

In fact, she looked downright disgusted.

And while the audience members seemed to be having the time of their lives…

… all the rest of us could do was watch from our couches in sheer disbelief.

Valentine's is upon us again, and while we're all for loving and being loved, there's always something a little contrived about February 14.

Queues in every shop for last-minute bunches of flowers, restaurants packed to the brim with couples who'd much rather be chilling at home… and the teddy bears. So many teddy bears.

This year, we're opting for something a little more subtle with our Valentine's plans. After all, there are loads of ways to show you love someone and not all of them have to involve rose petals and cheap boxes of chocolate.

Here are a few ways to show your love – without the cheese…

1. Choose your card wisely
Go for a handmade option, or pick one of these no-bullsh*t cards by one of Ireland's many genius designers. You don't have to buy a card plastered with hearts just to make someone feel loved… promise.

2. Make your gift personal
Ditch the loveheart teddy and go for a little momento of your relationship instead – a photo collage, a framed receipt/ticket stub from your first date, or a copy of the film you both watched on your first awkward trip to the cinema.

3. Surprise them with their favourite meal at home
Deliveroo offers delivery from top Dublin restaurants – everywhere from Carluccio's, Brother Hubbard and Dillinger's to Leo Burdock's – direct to your door in an average of 32 minutes. What more could you want for a night in?

The Deliveroo team were out to #ShareTheLove in Dublin yesterday – so be sure to show yours this weekend.

4. Whip them up breakfast in bed
You don't need to go all gourmet – some eggs, toast, avocado, OJ and coffee make for a cheap and totally delicious brekkie. Plus, once it's made you can hop back into bed and get cosy too!

5. Plan a totally chilled out date day
Sometimes you just need to forget what you "should" be doing and go with your own flow. Binge-watch Netflix all day, go to a double feature in the cinema, head to the beach for a long walk followed by chipper chips… whatever it is, do something that'll leave you both relaxed and smiling from ear to ear.

6. Book a cheap trip to somewhere you've never been
Budget airlines are perfect for random mini breaks, but if you want to stay closer to home, simply head off on the train or bus to a county you've never visited before. Beats a package trip to Lanzarote any day.

7. Just say it
Sometimes just saying the words "I love you" is enough to give your other half the best feeling in the world.

After four years out of the spotlight, Adele came back with more than a bang late last year – she had a whole new album, a new and more sophisticated look and the promise of a 2016 tour.

The singer appears on the cover of the March issue of US Vogue, and it's clear just how much she's grown up since the days of Hometown Glory and Rolling In The Deep.

"I think I had to take the right amount of time off to let people miss me," she says of her  extended hiatus.

Now a mum to three-year-old Angelo with her long-time boyfriend Simon Konecki, Adele says her whole perspective on life has changed.

"I can’t have any other junk in my head to worry about as well," she says, speaking about how parenthood has altered her outlook.

Angelo "makes me very proud of myself," she adds. "When I became a parent, I felt like I was truly living. I had a purpose, where before I didn’t."

After launching her career in her late teens with 19, Adele's had eight years as a high-profile celeb, and she says she's finally getting comfortable in her own skin.

"Actually I like myself more than ever. I really like how I look, I like who I am, I like everyone that I surround myself with.

"Obviously I have insecurities," she says – mentioning her "bum chin," her "intense" forehead, and her "potato" fingers – "but they don't hold me back."

Despite wearing a stunning array of Edrem, Burberry, Alexander McQueen and Salvatore Ferragamo pieces for the Vogue shoot, Adele says she's usually found in far less glamorous outfits.

"I don’t go out like this. I look like a bedraggled mother; I look like anyone else," she admits.

"When I’m with my kid I’m in leggings and a jumper and a pair of Converse because the grubby little hands are going to mark anything nice."

If there's one thing we can't imagine Adele as, it's "bedraggled"…

As kids, there was nothing that could cement your stamp of uncoolness more than having to wear glasses. Oh, how we battled against wearing them… until we realised we couldn't see the blackboard unless we were literally four inches away.

Of course nowadays, every hipster and their mother owns a pair of massive specs, whether or not they have eyesight issues.

But for those of us who wear glasses to see rather than be seen, it's a very different story. Here are a few of the massive pitfalls that will no doubt resonate with you if you're a specs-wearer.

1.The make-up dilemma
Much and all as we'd like to say otherwise, there is literally no way to avoid the revolting, caked-in, day-old make-up we all find on the bridge and nosepads of our specs.

"Don't mind me, I'm just picking bits of my face off these old things."

2. The precipitation issue
During a sudden downpour, you're left fighting for your life as your glasses steam up, slide off your face and leave you feeling more vulnerable than Bambi on roller skates.

3. The accessory quandary
Oh, you can work a bangle or two when you're rocking your thick, black, plastic frames, but a headband or, God forbid, a pair of dangly earrings? Forget it.

"Do I look like a Christmas tree? I do, don't I? I'll go change."

4. The cleaning issue
Unless you're super prepared and regularly carry that handy little chamois which came with your new frames, chances are you're often left looking for an appropriate piece of fabric to clean your lenses. CONSTANT SMUDGES.

5. The glasses hunt
Not being able to find your glasses because you're not WEARING your glasses has got to be one of life's cruellest jokes.

6. The lost limb effect
The recurring "WHERE ARE MY GLASSES?" fear that occurs on the rare days you decide to wear your contacts? Yeah, that's the sign of a hardcore specs-wearer.

7. The pain problem
There you are doing the right thing – wearing your glasses like you promised the optician you would – and out of nowhere they begin digging into your ears, rendering you momentarily speechless.

"Sorry, what was that you were saying? I temporarily went deaf due to these instruments of torture."

8. The chill factor
When you wear glasses, you'll know that lying on your side on the couch isn't really an option unless you enjoy that kind of discomfort.

9. The cost quandary
Yes, your current pair are falling apart and you haven't been able to see properly for the best part of a year, but like hell you're going to shell out €300 for a new pair.

10. The selection process
Once you do finally succumb to the pressure of buying a new pair, you're forced to endure days of torture as you try on new frames without actually being able to see how you look.

"Do I look like Elton John or Gigi Hadid? I'm going to have to trust you on this one."

You may be familiar with the work of LA pop/rock band OK Go who are known for their outrageously brilliant and creative music videos.

It all started back in 2009 when their treadmill-based video for Here it Goes Again went viral.

And since then they have tried to up the ante each time for their videos and they have certainly succeeded.

Just yesterday they released the video for Upside Down & Inside Out which involves the band floating around the cabin of a zero gravity airplane.

OK Go – Upside Down & Inside Out

Hello, Dear Ones. Please enjoy our new video for "Upside Down & Inside Out". A million thanks to S7 Airlines. #GravitysJustAHabit

Posted by OK Go on Thursday, February 11, 2016

And this video, which somehow involves no special effects at all, is just the tip of the iceberg for the group:

Their first video involved a single take of a complicated routine done entirely on treadmills…

They had a video involving optical illusions and adorably well-trained dogs…

There was another crazy extravaganza of optical illusions in their video for the Writing's on the Wall…

They had a video which involved the Muppets

And well… the sheer effort of this…

Oh and their music is pretty good too.

Stop what you're doing right now and head over to Kanye West's Twitter because he is on an epic Taylor Swift-related rant, and it is pure gold.

The controversy kicked off last night when the rapper gave fans a preview of his album at the Yeezy Season 3 show.

One song in particular, Famous, features the lyric "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. I made that b*tch famous."

The lyrics allegedly refer to the 2009 VMA's when Kanye interrupted Taylor's acceptance speech – although we've no idea what that has to do with having sex.

After being blasted online by both Taylor's brother Austin and her best friend Gigi, Kanye's taken to Twitter – no surprise there – and the results are brilliant.

He starts off by getting the record straight, though we beg to differ with this line…

Then he hit back at "censorship" in the media

"I asked my wife"

"It's actually something Taylor came up with"

Then there was a whole load of talk about "real" music:

ALL GODS ALL GODS ALL GODS

Oh Yeezy.

Matthew Perry opened his first West End show in London yesterday and let's just say that initial reactions are not good.

The End of Longing tells the tale of a bunch of troubled New York 30-somethings as they struggle to find love, happiness and contentment.

So pretty much a Friends sequel then…

"There’s little disguising the fact that it is essentially a dud…" came the Telegraph's review of the play.

"It all feels like a curious waste of time, money and effort – and I’m sure I won’t be the only one watching this rickety star vehicle who’s left longing for the end."

Ouch.

Other critics noted the play's gendered stereotyping as in a review done by the Independent.

"It is a woeful attempt at a dark-but-redemptive rom-com, drawing on Perry’s own experiences of addiction…"

"Perry’s gendered clichés are as stale as a drunk’s morning breath."

Despite many criticising Matthew for giving his own character all the best lines, the Guardian had some positive comments for Matt's performance.

"Perry, with his permanent stubble and greying hair, is certainly a beguiling presence and generously gives his character most of the play’s best lines."

The actor had missed the upcoming Friends reunion to star in the play and we just hope it's worth it.

Let's hope Matthew's fans will enjoy the show more than the critics.

So it seems that Megan Trainor has decided to totally change up her look to coincide with the release of her new album.

And we have to say, we kind of love her new do'.

The singer has decided to get rid of her trademark long, blonde and bouncy hair and try out a shorter, darker style instead.

Sharing her transformation with her followers on Instagram, the 22-year-old revealed a long, messy bob dyed a soft auburn colour.

"NEW ALBUM. NEW HAIR. THANK YOU LO LO," read the caption of her picture as she thanked her stylist.

It's been a rough few months for the artist who was forced to cancel her US tour in order to undergo surgery on her vocal chords.

"I am devastated, scared and so sorry," she wrote.

Thank you #LoLo for my haircut @lorienmeillon @kenpavessalon

A photo posted by Meghan Trainor (@meghan_trainor) on

"I LOVE touring and seeing your beautiful faces every night. I am determined to do what it take to get better and come back around stronger than ever."

But it seems things are turning around for the star as she gets set to release her fifth studio album later this year entitled Thank You

Oh and she's rocking a fierce new look.

A man who suffered a head injury causing him to forget who he was has found his way home after thirty years of being missing.

The 50-year-old disappeared from a group home in the States in 1986 and has been declared a missing person every since.

Edgar Latulip who was in his early twenties when he disappeared, is believed to have received a serious head injury while on an outing to Niagara Falls.

After never returning to his home, his family were left to believe that he had committed suicide or was murdered.

Instead, Edgar was living alone only 80 miles away from his hometown for the duration of his disappearance.

The family of the missing man were shocked when he returned home after his severe memory loss started to partially return to him.

Edgar, who has learning difficulties, was in hospital recovering from a suicide attempt the last time he was seen by family members.

The true mystery of his identity began top unravel when a social worker began to piece together the fragments of his slowly returning memory and a DNA test confirmed his identity.

One of the hardest parts about kicking off a plant-based or vegan diet is finding ways to enjoy the meals you're used to without scrimping on taste.

Foodie and blogger Amy Mulvaney is going vegan for the month of February, and she'll be sharing a whole host of simple, budget-friendly and – above all – tasty recipes with us throughout her journey.

First up – a creamy vegan tomato soup that takes less than 20 minutes to make.

"Keep it in the fridge and that’s lunch for the week sorted," says Amy.

Creamy Vegan Tomato Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 cans chopped tomato (400g each)
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 500ml vegetable stock
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Option: 1tsp chilli flakes

Method:

  1. Add the chopped onion and garlic to a pan with 1tsp olive oil. Cook over a low heat until the onions are browned and soft.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes, basil, oregano and chilli flakes, if using. Leave to sweat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add 500ml of vegetable stock in boiling water and almond milk. Stir together and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Blend and enjoy!
