RTÉ have cancelled their plans to run an Irish Strictly Come Dancing due to lack of funds to support the show.

As we all know the BBC's Strictly is one of the most popular shows on TV in the past few years, but RTÉ doesn't have the budget to make it as good as its counterpart.

According to the Irish Sun: “Strictly is an award-winning international format with electric dance routines,” said an insider.

“It’s not a show you can cut back on costs.”

BBC bosses were concerned that another version of Strictly so close to the English version wouldn't work as it would be difficult to find celebrities in Ireland that can dance.

“It’s not just the production values, it’s finding celebrities who can dance in Ireland. The UK is so big, it’s no prolem there, but you’d struggle to find enough well-known faces who can dance in Ireland.”

Well, we were excited there for a moment, but we guess we can't have everything!

While the thought of having a dancing session with our Dad and posting it to social media is probably our literal worst nightmare, this father-daughter duo have seriously nailed it.

Irish dad James and his daughter Tia love a bit of dance music and their latest offering on their Facebook page, The Trance Family, has seriously taken off.

The page has garnered over 100,000 followers in the last month and regularly features videos of the entire family getting their boogie on to trance music.

We can't lie, this video totally had us bopping along.

"I'm getting lot of reaction from people from Mexico, Norway, Germany, Egypt – all messaging me privately," said dad James to Belfast Live.

"It's just mental."

The video features the pair in the car getting down to the song Adagio for Strings and their moves are genuinely something to behold.

In the words of Avril Lavigne, why do you have to go and make things so complicated?

That's what fans are thinking at the moment as rumours arise that Avril is getting back with her ex-husband Chad Kroeger.

The 31-year-old shared a picture of the pair looking cosy in the recording studio, and many fans flocked to tell her they wish she was back together with her former partner.

One Instagram user said, "Please stay together," while another wrote, "You're my last hope on love." Another one simply said, "CHAVRIL."

Avril has been bust lately recording her sixth studio album, which will be the first bit of music she's produced in three years.

Now, the picture isn't proof of a romantic reconciliation and Avril is known to stay close to her exes – like she did with Sum 41's Deryck Whibley whom she divorced in 2009 – but fans of the couple are hoping this is the start of something new.

RTE's popular wedding show Don't Tell the Bride is to feature it's first gay couple tonight and everyone is pretty excited about it.

Kerwin Villabolos and Mark White will be seen tying the knot tonight in the first same-sex marriage to feature on the show.

The happy couple first met in former Dublin gay bar The Dragon which used to be on Georges Street and reportedly had a civil partnership in 2014.

According to the Irish Independent, the couple officially marry in tonight's episode in a 1916-themed wedding ceremony.

"Civil partnership was amazing," said Mark about the long-anticipated marriage.

"It made us a unit but I think marriage offers so much more."

The popular show allows for one-half of a couple to organise an entire wedding without their partner's knowledge or input and of course, the couple usually have wildly different opinions of how they want their wedding to go.

The unique episode comes after same-sex marriage became legal in Ireland after a referendum last year.

You can watch the episode tonight on RTE 2 at 9.30pm.

We can't get enough of sassy Blue Ivy and so we were delighted when her superstar mum Beyonce decided to post a rare snap of the child to her Instagram.

And it seems Blue is a total girly girl through and through as they snap showed her playing around in her Mum's make-up bag.

The 4-year-old was snapped donning pretty crystals across her forehead, pink lippie and some rather questionable eyeliner (though an admirable attempt for a first try Blue!)

Continue doing you, Blue, is our advice.

Two hours earlier, Bey posted a snap of herself also working some intense make-up including a gorgeous gold lip a the pair were backstage at a music video shoot, according to the Daily Mail.

The star also shared snaps from her recent video with Coldplay for the song Hymn for the Weekend.

A pro-arms American mum has inadvertently become an example of why guns are not a good idea after her 4-year-old son shot her in the back.

The mother, who happens to be an advocate for pro-arms in America, consistantly posts positive gun propaganda to her Facebook page.

But it seems that all her fighting talk has back-fired (after a bullet was literally fired into her back…geddit?)

Jamie Gilt was casually driving with her son in Florida when the child picked up the loaded .45 semi-automatic handgun that was casually sitting in the back seat and fired it at his mother.

"As the deputy slowed to check on the vehicle, he observed an adult female in the driver's seat motioning to him as if she needed assistance," said a spokesperson for the local police department.

"The deputy ran to the vehicle and quickly determined that the driver had been shot.

"The only other occupant of the vehicle was the victim's four-year-old son, who was unharmed.

"We're satisfied that this is not a criminal shooting."

Nope definitely not criminal, just a 4-year-old who really didn't know any better.

The 35-year-old runs a pro-gun Facebook page called Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense and is reportedly in a stable condition apart from having literally zero sense.

Alec Baldwin might have to upgrade from the two-bedroom New York penthouse he shares with his wife Hilaria, as the pair are expecting another addition to their growing brood.

The couple confirmed last night that they're due to welcome a son this autumn, their third child together since marrying in 2012.

"Ireland, Carmen, Rafael, Alec, and I are excited to share with you that we are going to have another addition to our family," 32-year-old Hilaria wrote on Instagram alongside a snap of herself and Alec kissing while holding a blue bear.

"A little boy coming this fall."

The newborn Baldwin will be a little brother or sister to 8-month old Rafael Thomas and two-year-old Carmen Gabriela, while also being a half-sibling to Alec's 20-year-old daughter Ireland from first marriage to Kim Basinger.

There might be a 21-year age gap between the actor and his wife, but Alec had no reservations about becoming a father again late in life – and says he's keen to have as many kids as possible.

"I’m dying to have another child with my wife," he told People magazine last September.

This is my light. My life. My love.

Meet Sammy the seal.

A bona fide resident of the waters of Wicklow town, Sammy likes all the things that any seal would like; swimming, the sea and a sizable slab of delicious fish.

That's probably why he is the most popular customer of the local fish and chip shop.

In an amazing video posted to Facebook by Worldstar Bogan last month, the now-viral footage captures the seal on his daily excursion to get a bit of food from his local chipper.

"Every day Sammy begs for fish outside a local seafood restaurant, and – after kicking up a fuss for a little while – usually gets receives a fresh catch for his efforts," reads the video caption.

Yep, this seal definitely knows what's up.

Kim Kardashian sure knows how to get people talking. You might have thought the internet had reached its saturation point for naked photos of Kim after last year's Paper magazine shoot, but apparently not.

The famous mum caused a fair few celeb spats on Twitter this week after casually posting a year-old naked selfie of herself, with nothing but two black stripes covering her modesty (and bypassing Instagram and Twitter's no-nipple rule).

Chloe Moretz and Bette Middler were just two of the stars who hit back at Kim for showing too much skin online – but there were countless others; among them Abigail Breslin, Emily Ratajkowski and Ariel Winter; who spoke out in the KUWTK star's defence.

As with any celebrity post worth its salt, Kim's selfie has quickly borne a heap of responses/pisstakes online. Here are a few of our favourites, from celebrities and regular joes alike (watch out for the Irish flag):

It's been a rough week for tennis star Maria Sharapova who faces a lengthy ban from professional tennis after she failed a drug test ahead of playing the Australian Open in January.

The 28-year-old sport star tested positive for the drug meldonium, a substance she has been taking for over ten years for alleged health reasons.

Meldonium was put on the official list of banned substances on January 1 and the tennis champion claimed she was oblivious to the recent changes in doping protocols.

While many fans and fellow tennis players have come out in support of the star, others find her explanation for taking the drug implausible.

Nevertheless, Maria has spoken out about the drama for the first time since her announcement on Monday in a reflective post to her Facebook page.

"I woke up yesterday morning with an inbox, in full capacity of love and compassion.

"The first email I immediately opened was from my best friend, you know, the type of person who can make you smile and cry with only one word and who I spent the evening on the phone with, checking up on me, how was I doing?

"On average, I love the mornings. New day, new start. It is fair to say that this day was not average. Nothing came to mind at 6am, except that I am determined to play tennis again and I hope I will have the chance to do so. I wish I didn't have to go through this, but I do – and I will.

"My friends made a collage for me with all your beautiful messages and hashtags that you created (‪#‎IStandWithMaria‬ and ‪#‎LetMariaPlay‬).

"I spent the afternoon reading them next to my dog, who couldn't quite understand why this was more important than the walk he was expecting to take.

"In this moment, I am so proud to call you my fans. Within hours of my announcement, you showed me support and loyalty, which I could only expect to hear when someone would be at the top of their profession.

"I wanted to let you know that your wonderful words put a smile on my face. I'd like to play again and hope to have the chance to do so. Your messages give me great encouragement. This message isn't anything else but to say thank you. Thank you very much."

Reports began circulating yesterday that record label Sony are making arrangements to drop Dr Luke ahead of his contract expiration in 2017.

However, reps for the top producer, who is currently facing rape allegations from popstar Kesha, have rejected the claims made by news site the Wrap.

"This is not true. Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony," read the statement.

"His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up."

According to the Wrap, insiders said that the top label was looking to rid themselves of the producer following the recent controversy.

Representatives for the producer also responded to claims made by Kelly Clarkson that he was not a nice person to work with by publishing an excerpt from Sony Music chief Clive Davis' 2013 memoir The Soundtrack of My Life.

The excerpt insinuates that Kelly did not want to work with the producer and Dr. Luke was also forced to compromise as he wanted the songs he had written to go to rock artists. .

"As we were gathering material for the album, however, I met with the songwriter-producer Max Martin, who had some songs he had written with his partner Luke Gottwald, better known as Dr Luke, that he wanted to play for me.

"The songs were Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes. I heard them, and told him that I really loved them both. Then I told him that I wanted them for Kelly Clarkson.

"The fact is that I wanted Kelly to have those songs for the very reason he had written them. Both songs had a sharp rock edge, but were still capable of being pop hits. They would push Kelly in a promising direction for her, while maintaining and even growing her audience.

"Max and Luke are very strong, hands-on producers in the studio. They are intent on getting perfect vocal performances, and are relentless in that pursuit.

"It was hard for Kelly, who had come from the high of winning American Idol and then having a double platinum album. You're young, everybody recognises you everywhere you go. It's heady, and all that attention affects all Idol winners.

"But then suddenly you're in an entirely different world of making records in a studio, and you have to take direction. Kelly didn't like it.

"Kelly got her back up, and from her perspective, she had a horrible experience in the studio. She'd never work with them again, she said."

The drama continues.
