Boyzone and Westlife fans alike got seriously excited earlier this week when rumours of a combined reunion tour began circulating.

And by "circulating", we mean one band member in particular dropping some VERY heavy hints on his personal Facebook page.

#musicmonday just a quick look at some old-times… These 2 young Irish groups made there mark on the world.. Although…

Boyzone's Shane Lynch sent the internet into overdrive on Monday when he posted this image online with the caption "MAYBE ITS TIME to join forces and do one of the biggest tour's we have ever seen… #‎justsaying‬."

But sadly it seems that a Boyzone/Westlife tour is just a pipe dream of poor Shaneo's, at least according to former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating.

"Shane loves to stir the pot! There’s no plans for anything at the moment," he told Goss.ie from the IFTAs red carpet.

"You never know [what might happen] – but there’s no plans right now."

The Dubliner attended the star-studded gala with his new wife Storm – who looked downright stunning in a sheer black gown with geometric detailing, teamed with black and gold jewellery.

The pair tied the knot in country ceremony in East Lothian, Scotland two months ago, with singer Ed Sheeran there to serenade them at the reception.

"Ed's a good friend and Thinking Out Loud is one of mine and Storm's songs," Ronan told HELLO! magazine.

"I was blown away. He is the most grounded, decent guy in the business and what a talent."

Well, if a Boyzone/Westlife tour is off the cards, can we at least hope for a Ronan/Ed duet?!

Well, this news has thrown some boy bands into an absolute meltdown.

While no one seems to be 100 per cent certain if this is just pure rumour or it there is some truth to it, boyband fans are still getting completely worked up about the possibility.

A former Boyzone star sent fans into an intense frenzy when he took to Facebook and posted a very cryptic (and possibly very cruel) message.

The singer posted a throwback photo of Boyzone and another very famous Irish boyband Westlife.

He appeared to be dropping the hint that the two bands would soon be joining forces for what fans are imagining would be the most epic tour of all time.

If you are a boyband fan that is.

"MAYBE ITS TIME to join forces and do one of the biggest tour's we have ever seen… #justsaying," he wrote.

Just three years ago, Westlife called it quits after their farewell tour *sob*, Markus Feehily revealed only last week that there was to be little hopes of a reunion for the lads.

Boyzone originally split in 1999, but reformed once more in 2007. Now, Shane has whipped fans of both groups into quite the frenzy and we’re just dying to see how this all plays out.

Details of an extreme torture method allegedly used by the CIA were released yesterday, and strangely an Irish boyband feature.

Two psychologists have been sued by the American Civil Liberties Union over claims they helped the CIA to design a programme used to torture prisoners in Afghanistan in 2003.

As part of the programme, prisoners were reportedly subjected to music played at full blast – namely the Westlife song My Love interspersed with heavy metal music.

The music was "played on repeat at ear-splitting volume" in a pitch dark cell, and was only stopped when the CD skipped or needed changing.

Details in the case come from testimony by Tanzanian fisherman Suleiman Abdullah, who says he was held in three different prisons in Afghanistan by the CIA between 2003 and 2008.

As well as physical torture, he was kept in a cell where the music "pounded constantly" for 24 hours a day.

The ACLU claims it was the CIA's goal to "break his mind" to make him cooperate with his interrogators.

The alleged creators of the programme are former US military psychologists James Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, both apparently contracted by the CIA to help develop interrogation operations.

With a second album coming out later this month, Shane Filan has officially carved out a name for himself as a solo artist.

But while the Westlife lads may not feature on the new record, another notable pop star most certainly does. Shane revealed today that his album Right Here includes a duet with none other than former Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle.

He revealed the news via Instagram today, after first teasing the announcement last night.

"So pleased to tell you that the brilliant @nadinecoyle has joined me in the studio to record a duet called I Could Be for my new album," he wrote alongside a picture of the pair.

As for Nadine, she is a self-confessed Westlife fan who admits she "used to love listening to [Shane's songs] growing up."

Who've I been in the studio with? Check back at 10am tomorrow to find out! #RightHere

Album number two is something of a gamble for Shane, who declared bankruptcy in 2012, with his €10m Sligo mansion selling for just €800,000 two years later.

Shane first came into money problems when his property company Shafin Developments went bust, leaving him and his brother Finbarr with a debt of €23m.

"I put all my eggs in one basket and invested in property," he told the Irish Independent back in 2013.

As for a Westlife reunion, Shane says it's not on the cards at the moment, but all the same he won't rule it out. "We had a great time in Westlife… but we called it at the right time, we didn’t want to be in the band anymore, any of us, and that's why we split up," he told OK! today.

"There’s no point in me saying it’s never going to happen, because that would be lying."

We're already getting our hopes up for a Westlife/Girls Aloud joint tour…

Less than 48hours ago, Brian McFadden and his model/DJ wife Vogue Williams announced on Twitter that had ended their three-year marriage.

And it looks like we weren’t the only ones who didn’t see it coming: Brian’s former Westlife bandmate, Shane Filan, has now revealed that he he was equally surprised by the announcement.

Shane, 35, said to Now magazine that he was “really shocked” and noted how Brian hadn’t given him any clues of the impending separation.

“I chatted to him a couple of weeks ago about something that was golf related but yeah I’m really shocked.”

Yesterday, Shane was at a Warner Music Group summer drinks party where he admitted he had actually never met Vogue, 29, and that he hasn’t seen Brian in the flesh in a number of years.

He furthermore admitted he wasn't in the loop about Brian's other former flame, Kerry Katona, and her recent relationship woes, and went on to say that he hoped Brian is OK.

Mr Filan added of his new album: “I’ve been working on it for the last four or five months." The Sligo-native explained that it will be more “pop music” compared to his last album.

He didn’t mention anything about any music collaborations, but we can probably rule out any surprise duets with him and Brian.

As one-fifth of one of the biggest boybands of the noughties, it seemed as though Westlife star Mark Feehily had it all.

However, opening up in his most candid interview yet, the singer admits that having to hide his sexuality made his boyband days some of the hardest of his life.

Recalling those difficult times during an interview with Attitude magazine, the 34-year-old gave an insight into the extent of his struggles.

“During some of the lowest points I absolutely felt that I was never going to be able to come out. I used to just stay in my hotel room. I’d be there for hours, days sometimes, and I had no motivation to go outside,” he admitted.

Mark, who publicly revealed he was gay back in 2005, added: “I became depressed. People think, ‘Sure, he’s living the life of Riley in a massive band, how could he have any problems?’ But there has to be a balance, and back then my career life was fulfilled, but my personal life was a total shambles. I used to just crave companionship and love.”

The star, who launched his solo career last month, heartbreakingly admitted that keeping his sexuality a secret led to some dark moments.

“It gave me a sense that I would never be happy, a kind of dead-end feeling. And yes, if I am totally honest, my mind went to some very dark places,” he added.

Thankfully, Mark appears to be in a much better place now. We cannot wait to hear his solo material.

Kian Egan has opened himself up to the fury of One Directioners everywhere as he says the boyband will never be able to match the record sales of Westlife.

The singer was talking on Jarlath Regan’s podcast An Irishman Abroad when he made the controversial comments, saying: “No disrespect to One Direction, but One Direction will never sell what Westlife sold. They might be a bigger band and a bigger phenomenon and do bigger concerts and things like that but record sales wise, they’ll never be able to match it because the industry just isn’t that size anymore.”

Kian made the point that at Westlife’s peak, fans were intent on having everything they released, from singles to albums and everything in between. Now that the music industry is based on downloads, perhaps the Westlife star has a point.

Although we’re not so sure the Directioners will see it that way…

In fact, they've started already…

Shane Filan’s autobiography My Side of Life is revealing a LOT of juicy celeb secrets – like that time he got slapped in the face by Louis Walsh!

Shane and the rest of the Westlife lads were auditioning for Simon Cowell but Shane had been out the night before with then-girlfriend (now his wife) Gillian and was feeling a little worse for wear.

After a rather disastrous rendition of a Backstreet Boys’ song, Louis stormed up to Shane, slapped him and said: “What the fu** was that, Shane?! … It was sh**! He didn’t like you!”

It would appear that unlike Louis, Simon didn’t think Shane looked, acted or sang like a pop star…but Louis solved all of that.

Dying his hair blonde, Shane went for another audition, this time impressing the music mogul and signing Westlife to Syco.

Former Westlife star, Shane Filan has opened up about the “dark days” he endured in his new autobiography My Side of Life.

Shane, who suffered well-known money issues spoke about just how bad things got in an extract published in the Mirror: “For the previous five years I’d been leading a double life. We owed £18million and that day the banks had demanded all the money back. So there I was counting out the loose change that I jokingly called the ‘rainy day’ pot. I just broke down and sobbed when I heard.”

The singer says the difference between his life in Westlife and now is stark, as money isn’t as secure as it once was: “Westlife made a huge amount of money. I usually got a seven-figure sum every year. Now I don’t know if I will be okay next year – and it’s a bit scary.”

Shane, who is a dad to three children with his wife Gillian, spoke about the heartache of his children not knowing: “My world was crumbling around me. My three small children – Nicole, Patrick and Shane Jnr – were upstairs in bed thinking everything was grand because Daddy was a pop star. It was the most horrendous time of my life.”

However, the Westlife star, who released an album this time last year, said that Gillian saved him from losing hope: “I was wallowing in despair and could have gone under if not for Gillian. She saved my sanity and she saved us.”

Shane’s dream home in Sligo was valued at for €10million during the Celtic Tiger and sold just recently for €800,000.

He has just recently wrapped up the Asia leg of his You and Me tour.

They’ve only been out of the game for two years, but Kian Egan is obviously missing his boy band days as he has revealed that he believes they will reunite – though it won’t be for a few years yet.

“I’d like to think I’ll be on stage again with Westlife but it definitely won’t be in the next five years.

“If it’s in the next 10 years I’d be shocked. I could be sitting in Ireland with another baby next year and I might not want to be in the industry any more.

“It’s a tough lifestyle – I might stay at home and just be dad.”

Awh – we hope they don’t leave it too long, and we REALLY hope they drag Brian McFadden along for old times’ sake!

A McBusted star has warned off Irish bands Boyzone and Westlife from forming a supergroup –  because he doesn’t think they’d be able to pull it off!

Despite McBusted’s success, the boys –  Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter, Harry Judd, James Bourne and Matt Willis – don’t think a Boyzone and Westlife union would work.

McBusted star Tom said, “I heard Boyzone and Westlife are rumoured to be doing something similar to us. The thing is, I’m not sure if it would work as well for other bands. Good luck to anyone wanting to form a supergroup, but it probably won’t be as easy and natural as it was for us.”

McFly and Busted go way back. I was in McBusted for a while before McFly, plus Harry and Charlie went to school together and I went to school with Matt.

“James has written most of McFly’s hits. So the lines between the two bands have always been blurred. For us to merge seemed the natural thing to do,”  Tom said.

The stars are currently on a 34-date arena tour, and most of their shows have been total sell-outs so far.

Getting a little too big for your boots boys…?
