Passengers on the Luas today were joined by a very unusual four legged friend at the Belgard stop.

Of all the animals to ever manage to board a tram we didn't expect a horse to show up today. While passengers on board were quick to spot the equine, (and take photos, natch) the driver was said to not have noticed until two stops after they had strolled on board.

While we have all been guilty of wanting to sneak our pets into places they shouldn't be, this is on another level entirely.

Eventually the driver spotted the horse and their owner through the camera and the pair were forced to get off.

According to one witness, who spoke to the Journal.ie about the bizarre occurrence, the horse was  pretty relaxed about the whole thing:

"They literally had to take two fellas to push it back off,” commented Una McCrystal.

Luas operators are said to be investigating the incident.

And if that wasn't enough, Luas will be on the look-out for the most fashionably dressed passengers throughout the week of the festival. The Style Spotter competition will be offering prizes including One4All vouchers and €50 Leap cards.

If your commute to work involves driving around the college green area, you may have to change your plans.

From next Monday on, construction of the new Luas line will be in full swing which will cause some disturbances to traffic.

Motorists will be banned from driving through the College Green area during busy times from 7am-7pm Monday to Friday. Accessing this area will only be allowed for cyclists, buses and taxis.

Over 5.5km of new Luas lines are being laid and this will result to traffic being reduced to only one lane in some of the city's busiest spots according to the National Transport Authority.

Work is currently underway on O' Connell Street and will being on Monday at College Green, Dawson Street, Hawkins Street and D'Olier Street.

Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe acknowledged that problems are bound to arise during this €368m project, but that the long-term gain would be significant.

There is something about seeing a ticket inspector that makes you feeling guilty even when you have your ticket sitting comfortably in your pocket.

When you see that orange visor step on board there is a brief moment of panic when you think, “oh no, what if I HAVE lost it?”

While most of us wouldn’t dare to not buy a ticket on public transport (as it is exactly the same as stealing) a surprising amount of people do.

According to Journal.ie, Dublin Bus have revealed that approximately 90 people a week are caught paying the wrong or no fare on buses every week.

The team of Dublin Bus inspectors carry out random inspections on journeys, issuing €100 fines to those who have not paid their fares, or paid the incorrect amount. If the fine is paid within 21 days it is reduced to €50.

And when it comes to not paying their fares, some people REALLY chance their arm. One train commuter was caught in February using a ticket that had been expired for EIGHT months!

But, instead of charging the man the €100 fine per journey over that time period, they simply charged him the cost of each ticket… which amounted to €5,544!

There was a tense scene in Jervis St. in Dublin this morning after a schoolgirl got caught between the Luas and the pavement.

Passers-by helped to move the Luas off the girl, though it is not clear if they managed to or if help later came.

The schoolgirl was then brought to the Mater Hospital where she is thought to have minor injuries.

The incredible footage shows how many commuters tried to help move the tram to free the girl, and thankfully all ended well.

It wasn't too long ago something similar happened in Australia!
