Festival season is fast approaching, but the Irish festivals have been a little slow in announcing the line ups for summer 2017.

Electric Picnic is notorious for remaining tight lipped on the subject, but the music haven has finally revealed when the line up will be launched.

"Are you ready to do all of this again in September? The first acts for Electric Picnic 2017 will be announced the week of 20th March," reads a caption on the festival's Facebook page.

Festival fans have been eagerly anticipating the line up for months, and most of the tickets have already been sold, with the final tier of tickets being released later this year.

Last year saw acts such as The 1975, who are playing Malahide Castle later this summer, LCD Soundsystem and Lana Del Rey take the main stage.

Another Irish festival which has yet to be announced is Longitude.

No dates or acts have been confirmed for Longitude 2017, nor have any tickets gone on sale.

Tickets for last year's festival went on sale in January.

Last year, major US rapper Kendrick Lamar, as well as Major Lazer and The National, smashed it on the main stage at the no-camping weekend of festivities.

A fake Longitude 2017 Facebook page sprung up last week, claiming to be raffling off tickets to the festival through like and share competitions.

The page gained almost 30,000 followers before being disbanded.

We seriously hope that Longitude releases the dates ASAP, and in the meantime we will be marking March 20 into our calendars to keep up to date with all the Electric Picnic announcements.

He’s the Voice Of Ireland host who pretty much wowed the nation when he got Ed Sheeran to sing Thinking Out Loud as Gaeilge.

Released last year, the album Ceol also featured the likes of The Coronas, Kodaline, and Keywest.

And now Eoghan has revealed in conversation with SHEmazing that he’s all set for Ceol round 2 – and that he has a HUGE US-star lined up for it.

“It’s going to be pretty massive,” the 2fm presenter added.

“We’re almost there on it – it’s just a matter of firming up the detail at this stage. I'm not going to name names just yet, they're up there with, say, Taylor-Swift in terms of fame.”

Eoghan was yesterday hanging out with the likes of Rosanna Davison and Samantha Mumba at the 3Live area at Longitude – where Three was hosting acoustic performances, secret gigs and film screenings.

And at the 3Club, Eoghan also impressed the revellers with an indoor DJ set.

“We’ve had a pretty crap summer and then all of a sudden the sun comes out… so I really wasn’t expecting the crowd to show up in the way that they did. But it was epic!

“I love the The Voice and I’d never knock it but it’s very much ‘silly jokes’. So it’s nice to bring back to music every now and then. There are really only a few companies that really do music properly – and Three is one of them.”

He’s adamant he doesn’t particularly have his sights set on the Late Late gig once Ryan Tubridy moves aside, but the 33-year-old says he loves Brendan O’Connor’s new show, Cutting Edge.

“He probably felt he had something to prove,” Eoghan adds, “but he’s definitely proved it now.”

That and he loves the Ellen DeGeneres format: “She does the silly stuff but then gets Obama for a discussion about racial inequality. It’s seamless.”

Finally, Eoghan, who has been open about his own battles with depression and self-harm, recommends that everyone has a mentor – admitting that he has three.

“Years ago a guy was over from London to do some work with Spin 1038, where I had a show at the time. He liked what I was doing and brought me back with him to work on XFM – where likes of Dermot O'Leary, Russell Brand, and Ricky Gervais all cut their teeth.

“That was a turning point. And I know I've been very lucky in my career to date.”

When it comes to music festivals, our Stateside pals definitely have us beat on weather, but there's no denying we're nose to nose in the style stakes.

With festival attire rapidly taking over a large portion of our wardrobes, the vast majority of us have graduated from the 'binliner and fisherman's hat' approach, and have instead taken inspiration from a number of different trends in order to create our very own festival chic.

When it comes to the numerous musical events which have and continue to punctuate our summer, we have the look absolutely nailed.

Case in point: Longitude 2016.

Giving the Coachella contingent a serious run for their money in the grunge stakes, our Longitude ladies went for more than a passing nod to the 90s, and did it like absolute pros.

Two-tone denim and cons FTW.

There's no doubt white crop tops or for the more daring among us – white bralets –  are BIG this festival season, and we're all over the boho-inspired Broderie anglaise version which we're definitely getting our hands on for Electric Picnic.

Think how little space they'd take up in a rucksack! Packing hack 101 right there.

With dungarees making a huge comeback this year, festival-goers have been going for them in a big way, and we're hella impressed.

New Look and Topshop are great for overalls right now, so if you can't see yourself wearing a pair outside of a fest, at least you won't have broken the bank!

Everyone knows that accessories can make or break an outfit, so we're all over the sleek and chick bumbag look currently gaining momentum at Irish festivals this summer.

Most of us are opting for minimal because – well, it IS a bumbag at the end of the day – and yet there's such an abundance on the high street right now, it's unlikely you'll bump into someone rocking the same one.

Longitude ladies, you have it nailed.

With Longitude mere days away, music fans are preparing themselves for a weekend of top-class performances from some of the biggest names in the industry right now.

And while there are some things you simply can’t control in the run up to an outdoor festival – rain clouds, were looking at you – it’s still possible to take the reins when it comes to organising yourself for the three-day event.

And that, ladies, is where the Longitude 2016 App comes in.

Powered by Three, this festival app provides stage times, customisable festival line-ups and personalised reminders all at the touch of a screen.

And with the vast majority of us having at least once missed out on our favourite band after getting stuck in a queue for the portaloos, this app speaks to us on an emotional level.

From alerting you to the moment your favourite act is about to hit the stage to providing you with info, maps and news related to the festival, the launch of this app is on par with a weekend of scorching weather.

The Longitude 2016 app is free to download via the iTunes and Android stores from today, 13th July, so time to get on it, ladies.

Much and all as we'd like to pretend we can enjoy a gig no matter what the weather, we don't splash out on those über- sassy flower crowns only to be p*ssed on all weekend.

Thankfully, it doesn't looks like that'll be the case for anyone lucky enough to be heading to Longitude this weekend!

That's right ladies, you can hoof your rain poncho back under the bed because it sounds like the weather gods are planning to smile on you while you kick it wih Kendrick and chill with Chvrches.

According to Met Éireann, despite the clouds and patchy outbreaks of rain affecting the north of the county, Friday is set to reach 22 degrees while Saturday will be perfect festival weather – warm and sunny with just a 10 percent chance of precipitation.

And Sunday? You'll be looking at the same again with highs of 21 degrees and 'no significant volume of rain'.

Now, all we need is a damn ticket.

It may be only January, but we're giving ourselves full permission to start getting excited about festival season.

And with Longitude already releasing their main line-up for 2016, it seems we're not the only ones looking ahead.

You'll want to snap up your tickets for July 15 – 17 NOW, as the line-up for the Marlay Park festival is downright amazing this year:

Kendrick Lamar, Major Lazer and The National will headline, with Jamie XX, Chvrches, Róisín Murphy, Tyler The Creator and Saint Sister all making an appearance too.

Tickets for this year's festival will go on sale via Ticketmaster next Friday Jan 29 at 9am.

You can nab yourself a one-day pass for €64.50 and a three-day weekend ticket for €159.50.

See you there!

You know what makes people really happy at festivals? Aside from the obviously seeing their favourite bands and having a general great weekend with friends. Snacks. Snacks make pretty much all social outings better. Oh, and freebies.

Seeing as we are often not 100 percent guaranteed sunshine at our lovely festivals, being guaranteed some snacks is the icing on the cake for festival goers. Well, aren’t we a luck bunch because the good people at Hula Hoops are making sure that everyone stays happy this summer season.

Their promo teams are going to be on hand at festivals around the country to celebrate their Fun Never Grows Up campaign. If you were at Longitude last weekend you might have seen them out and about.

It’s kind of hard to miss them actually seeing as they pretty much bring a carnival wherever they go. Yes, they have actual hula hoops for you to play with. The Hoop-La Challenges are open to everyone, so now is your chance to really show off all those hours of childhood play with a hula hoop to get yourself some swag.

Prizes include the much coveted Hula Hoop bum boxes. The Hula Hoops team will be there to make sure you have all the support you need to get yourself one of those fabulous prizes. Who doesn’t love a nice comfy seat in the middle of a festival field?

If you can’t manage to get yourself a free bum box, the team are also going to have plenty of samples for you to snack on. So, really there are no losers here.

The next spot for the Fun Never Grows Up team will be the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Dublin on July 24 and 25. Then they head to Cork’s Indiependence Arts and Music Festival before a nice sea-side trip to the Bray Summerfest.

Better dust off the hula hoops and practice the hopscotch techniques because we definitely don’t want to miss out on all the fun, or actual bags of Hula Hoops. Make sure you use their hashtag #FunNeverGrowsUp on Twitter and Instagram to keep up with all the activities during their festival tour!

Apart from being an incredibly talented musician, Josh has also led one heck of a life. We learn of near death experiences, belly dancing in Oman and living room sessions. Check it out.
