The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation into Brooke Houts after a viral YouTube video captures the vlogger abusing her dog.

“Our Animal Cruelty Task Force has received numerous complaints about the video you’re speaking of and we are currently looking into the matter,” an LAPD media representative told The Verge.

Houts has over 330,000 subscribers, and recorded a video of herself seemingly smacking and spitting on her dog. The 'unedited' version was apparently uploaded as a mistake and taken down later.

YouTube didn't reply to The Verge about whether further action is being taken against Houts’ channel, but the platform bans videos that include or incite abuse towards any animals.

Houts issued a statement on Twitter after the clip went viral, apologising to “anyone who has been affected negatively by the footage" and saying; “things in my outside life have been less than exceptional.”

The YouTuber later defended herself by saying her dog is 75 pounds and “when he is jumping up in my face with his mouth open, I, as a dog parent, have to show him that this behaviour is unacceptable.”

“But I want to make it known that regardless of what my dog does, I should not have acted that way towards him,” Houts said.

YouTubers including Logan Paul (of all people) have referred to the incident as deplorable and disturbing. She is also being compared to Twitch streamer Natalia “Alinity” Mogollon, who threw her cat over her shoulder.

Houts has insisted she’s ‘not a dog abuser’. The 20-year-old’s dog Sphinx jumps up at her while she’s filming a video with him, and she appears to smack the dog before shouting ‘No!’

When Sphinx tries to lick her face while she’s filming, she pushes the Doberman out of the way with both hands. Logan Paul called the clip ‘remarkably grotesque,’ before claiming that Brooke put on an act for fame.

Logan commented:

"Discipline your animals should they misbehave. I get it, but despite the hitting, the spitting is a totally unwarranted, inappropriate, and vile display of energy that makes this woman completely unfit to own that dog."

"Anything I say isn’t going to make those who believe I’m a bad person stop believing that, and I’m aware of this," Brooke wrote.

"The bubbly, happy-go-lucky Brooke that you often see in my videos is typically an accurate representation of me, but it’s obvious that I’m playing up my mood in this video when I’m clearly actually frustrated. That being said, this does NOT justify me yelling at my dog in the way that I did, and I’m fully aware of that."

"Should I have gotten as angry as I did in the video? No. Should I have raised my voice and yelled at him? No."

The American YouTube star continued: "But I want to make it known, REGARDLESS of what my dog does, I should not have acted that way towards him.

"I am NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape, or form. Anyone who has witnessed or heard true animal abuse will be able to clearly see that."

She also claimed that Sphinx wasn’t hurt by her actions and that, if he was audibly in pain, "it would have been a different story". Her channel is currently still live.

Chris Brown has been arrested at his LA home after spending hours locked in a bizarre standoff with police over allegations that he pulled a gun on a female visitor.

Police are believed to have found at least one gun, other weapons and drugs in the performer’s home.  He has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the LA Times, members of the LAPD were forced to stand outside Chris’ house for a number of hours because the recording artist refused to let them inside.

TMZ reported that Chris taunted police by saying “Come and get me”.

While hiding in his home, the 27-year-old star also used social media to share a series of videos in which he claimed he was being unfairly demonized.

Beauty queen Baylee Curran alleged that she was forced to flee the Look at Me Now singer’s house after he pointed a gun at her for looking at some jewellery which his friend was displaying.

The 2016 Miss California also claims that as she tried to leave, members of the singer’s team withheld her mobile phone in an attempt to force her into signing a non-disclosure agreement.

She told TMZ Live that her past experiences with Chris were always positive, but that this time he appeared to be out of it, possibly due to the influence of drugs or alcohol.

After being barred from every branch of LA Fitness and suspended from her role on a radio show, Dani Mathers probably thought things couldn’t get much worse, but it looks like she was sorely mistaken.

The Playboy model and former Playmate of the Year, who recently hit headlines for posting an image of a naked woman on Snapchat, has now learned that police in L.A are investigating the matter.

Dani, who has apologised for her actions and insisted that the image was meant for a friend and not her Snapchat followers, has – understandably – received little sympathy following her major social media faux pas.

Commenting on their decision to revoke Dani’s gym membership, Jill Greuling, the executive vice president of LA Fitness said; “Her behaviour is appalling and puts every member at risk of losing their privacy.”

“Our written rules are very clear: cellphone usage and photography are prohibited in the locker rooms. This is not only our rule, but common decency,” she added.

While the LAPD intends to pursue an investigation into the ‘illegal distribution’ of the image, they are unable to proceed until the woman at the centre of the image presents herself to authorities.

According to The Independent, police in LA are urging the woman to contact police, saying: “Without a victim, we can’t go forward.”

With LAPD eager to pursue their line of enquiry, defence attorney Lou Shapiro has asserted that the Mather's actions have far-reaching implications.

"A judge could take a dim view of the action and really want to see her punished," he told the LA Times this week.

We know everyone has a love/hate relationship with the Kardashian/Jenner's; but some people have been taking it way too far.

TMZ has reported that a man who tried to break into Kylie Jenner's Californian mansion has been arrested and put into psychiatric holding.

According to the website, the man (whose name can't be released to the media), was arrested for trying to break into Kylie's home over the Christmas holidays.

But after he was put into custody, he escaped in a very scary turn of events. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department tracked him down though and he was placed on another 72-hour psychiatric hold.

This isn't the first breach of security though, as momager Kris just fired her entire security team this month after they let a stranger, claiming to know Kris, into the property where Kim and baby Saint were sleeping.

The funeral service of Cathriona White, who died in Los Angeles late last month, has now taken place.

With hundreds of mourners in attendance, the 30-year-old makeup artist was laid to rest following a Mass at Our Lady Of Fatima Church in Cappawhite, Co Tipperary.

She has been buried beside her late father, Pat, who died of brain cancer in September 2012.

In attendance was the young woman’s grieving family, as well as heartbroken actor Jim Carrey – a man who had been in an on/off relationship with Cathriona since 2012.

Indeed, the Hollywood star, who has looked strained throughout the day, acted as pallbearer for the procession.

The 53-year-old had arrived in a blacked-out Mercedes people carrier and Mail Online reports that he travelled to Ireland this morning via a private jet.

In an official, heartfelt statement following her tragic death, Jim had called his love “my delicate Irish flower”. Mr Carrey also described himself as being "hit with a lightning bolt" by the news of her death.

She was found dead on September 28 in a house in the upmarket area of Sherman Oaks in California. Having been diagnosed with depression in the past, and it is believed that Ms White took an overdose of prescription pills.

Officials Stateside say they are treating her death as suicide.

Fr Tadhg Furlong, parish priest in the area, said Ms White's family and friends are faced with a life cut short, a vision not fulfilled, a dream not realised.

He continued: "In 1985 Cathriona was baptised with joy into this Christian community. We assemble now in a very different atmosphere to welcome her home.

"We gather in silent, sad, grief-stricken fáilte. At this time we welcome home one of our own."

"Cathriona's approach to life was to take on, to challenge the county, the country, the world," the priest furthemore told mourners.

"You remember the outgoing personality – the strong-willed, determined character."

And Fr Furlong then added: "Cathriona was a light to so many. Something of the light has gone out. Yet much remains.

"The light continues to shine. The light of love lives on; the love you had for Cathriona; the love she had for you."

A number of gifts were presented during the service including a sports jersey and a football to represent her love of Gaelic games, as well as family photos and make-up brushes.

Her step-sister, Sarah, gave an emotional eulogy, saying: “Cathriona had such an amazing capacity to love and to be loved.

"From growing up in Cappawhite, through to moving to Clonmel and finally settling in LA, love remained a constant in her life from beginning to end.”

However, she concluded: “Thankfully, love is not as fickle and unpredictable as life is.

“As long as you are loved, you are here. You are so loved.”

This evening, Mr Carrey posted a tribute to Cathriona on his Twitter account. Featuring a silhouette of the two of them, he also wrote 'love cannot be lost'.

Police in Californian previously told TMZ that two concerned friends originally found Cathriona’s body, while another source added that Ms White’s suicide note was addressed to Mr Carrey.
