Congratulations are in order for Nico Santos and his partner Zeke Smith as they have tied the knot. 

The Superstore actor and former Survivor contestant got married over the weekend in Palm Springs, California.

Before their wedding, the couple spoke to People about their big day, with Zeke revealing, “For us, we've been together for almost six years. We own a home together, have a joint bank account. We're each other's emergency contacts. By all sorts of usual metrics we are married”.

"But actually having the ceremony, making it legal, it's about becoming a family. We're in it forever. Through thick and thin and easy and hard. We're going to be the person that's there for the other one”.

Zeke added, “Now that we've done all this planning and the meaning and the significance of the day is dawning upon us, I'm just really excited”.

“We come from very different places, and yet, despite our vastly different upbringings and life stories, we’ve found a home within each other”.

The former reality star continued, “The wedding has made us grow as a couple. And in any growth situation, there are going to be speed bumps and it's going to be hard”.

Mark McKinney, known for his role as Glenn in Superstore, officiated Nico and Zeke’s wedding on Saturday, November 4. 

Many of Santos’ other Superstore co-stars also attended the ceremony with Ben Feldman, Colton Dunn, Nichole Sakura, Jon Barinholtz, Kaliko Kauahi, Irene White and Lauren Ash all showing up to celebrate Nico and Zeke’s wedding. 

Former Survivor contestants Hannah Shapiro and Bret LaBelle were also in attendance.

During their ceremony, the lovebirds included a reading from Shakespeare, a veil and cord ceremony and read iconic lines from romantic comedies, as well as incorporating nods to both of their cultures.

The sixth contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing was announced last night. 

Fans of the dancing show have shared their honest reactions as they discovered Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas was eliminated.

The pair faced TV presenter Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington in the dance-off but judges Craig, Anton, Motsi and Shirley decided to save Angela and Kai. 

After finding out he had been eliminated, Tess asked Adam about his experience on the show. 

He admitted, “I’m so proud of myself. Like, I’ve had an amazing time from start to finish. You know, I came here to learn how to dance and I feel like I’ve learnt so much more about myself”.

The 35-year-old went on to explain, “They’ve just been incredible and yeah, I’m just very lucky and I know my kids are at home now probably crying but don’t worry, ok? Daddy’s ok”.

“I just wanted to teach my kids as well, it’s not just about winning and losing. Sometimes it’s just about taking part and doing your best”.

A majorly important step on your journey away from fast fashion and into the world of sustainable style is finding a voice and resource that is well-informed and trustworthy. Once you begin to see the alternatives to the endless fashion cycles and trends, it affects the decisions you make as a consumer and forces you to really think before pressing that order button. 

My favourite source of information for all things slow fashion is Heidi from 'The Rogue Essentials' Instagram page. She does deep dives into the intricacies of the endlessly turning fashion wheel and analyses how consumers play a part in the cycle and how to get out of it. She's a refreshing dose of reality and the sharp shock needed to move away from brands that don't prioritise ethical fashion practice. 

But what's more exciting is that instead of just condemning these places, Heidi offers alternatives and solutions to our current problem, providing amazing tips and info that you need to start down a more sustainable path. I picked out her top tips below to give you a sample of just some of her great ideas and accessible alternative routes. 

We love this quick and informative reel about alternatives to fast fashion denim wear. Denim is one of those materials that will never go out of style, so investing in a good pair of jeans, jacket or whatever is always well worth it.  However, as Heidi points out, it takes 1800 gallons of water alone to grow enough cotton to make a pair of denim jeans. That insane number is mind boggling if we think of the sheer amount of denim clothes being sold online each day. Heidi provides info on sustainable brands that have far less impact on the planet in the production of their clothing like Kings of Indigo and Boyish Jeans, but stresses that the best way to buy is to source second hand. 

Her swimwear sustainable sources make the important point that it's not always possible to buy everything second hand so having legitimate, accessible and good quality retailers that are committed to long term sustainability is important. Swimwear is difficult because it's not the same as buying a coat or a pair of jeans. We need to find something we feel genuinely comfortable and happy in and that isn't easy to find. This reel highlights that options are out there, if you know where to look.

This one is definitely something that we all need to hear. It's too easy to drop clothes off to charity shops or collections and just forget about them and the impact they can have. But with the world so saturated with clothing – and cheap, not-lasting clothing – lots of it never gets sold and ends up in a landfill anyway. Alternatives to dumping the problem somewhere else is to reuse, upcycle, repurpose, repair swap, sell or donate. Places like Big Sister Swap exists for exactly this purpose and there's lots of amazing accounts that focus on upcycling your clothes. It all takes more work, but if you're serious about this change, it's worth it. 

This reminder that we already have everything we need to have the 'perfect sustainable wardrobe' is so important. Too often, we are being marketed to, so that we don't even realise the messages that we are picking up. This reality is calling out the culture that we need to buy to achieve certain aesthetics or lifestyles, whereas in reality we actually need to do the opposite – just wear what we own. A lot of it is about creativity. We look in our wardrobe and see that shirt and can only picture it over a certain pair of jeans instead of getting creative and putting it under that lace vest top or with that midi skirt, or seeing how pairing it with that pair of boots would change the whole look. It's important to make our clothes work for us and not limit ourselves through them.

Charlotte Crosby has showcased her beautiful engagement ring for the first time. 

The former Geordie Shore star announced the exciting news that her partner Jake Ankers had proposed while they were in Dubai last night. 

As the joy of her engagement settles in, Charlotte has admitted she’s ‘never seen such a beautiful ring in her whole life’.

Unveiling the dazzling ring to her 8.8M Instagram followers, Charlotte spoke about her shock at Jake’s proposal. 

The 33-year-old shared a video with her gorgeous ring on display and as it glistened in the sun she wrote, “Right ok guys. I’m sorry but I think I’m gunna cry. Again is this really happening”.

“I can’t stop staring at the ring. I’m so sorry if for the next few weeks I do pose with my hand in every shot. I’m just so eternally happy”.

She went on to add, “And I’ve never seen anything so beautiful in my whole entire life”.

When announcing her engagement to the world, Crosby shared a photo of Jake down on one knee as the pair were surrounded by roses and candles. 

She revealed, “Happiest woman in the world. Yes yes yes and yes @jake_ankers you are my best friend you are my life”.

“I CANT BELIEVE IM ENGAGED AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh. Best night ever”.

When sharing the news to his Instagram followers, Jake admitted, “Finally plucked up the courage and did it… I love you with all my heart”. He also sweetly added, “Biggest and best moment of my life”.

Ankers also reached out to fans and pals to thank them for their congratulatory messages by saying, “Thank you everyone for all the messages my phones a madness at the moment so I can’t get back to everyone but will try my best”.

“Last night was so special but also terrified me and I had a scary moment before I asked Charlotte to marry me! Little panic attack but I got there in the end”.

The lovebirds first met back in 2015 but didn’t become an item until the end of 2021. They went on to welcome their first child into the world in October 2022- a baby girl named Alba Jean.

Helen George has shared a hint about this year’s Call the Midwife Christmas special. 

Helen is known for her role as Trixie Franklin in the popular BBC period drama.

As the Christmas special nears, Helen has given fans a clue about what to expect in the upcoming episode, teasing that viewers should be prepared to get emotional. 

While appearing on Lorraine earlier today, George spoke to host Ranvir Singh about when they began filming the highly-anticipated special. 

“We filmed it June, in the hot weather”, she explained. 

“It's just a lovely, lovely festive feast. It's a great series coming forward. There's some wonderful writing as ever by Heidi (Thomas- the show's writer).

Revealing what fans of Call the Midwife should expect to see on Christmas day, she said, “It's a really fun Christmas special but with those beautiful emotive moments that you expect, to have a quick weep on Christmas Day”.

Back in May, the Call the Midwife production teams shared an insight into filming Christmas scenes during the summer. 

Posting a video of some of the younger stars enjoying a snowball fight to the show’s official Instagram page, they explained, “Behind the scenes on the new Call the Midwife Christmas Special: Snowballs and sunshine!”.

“It’s something of a tradition for us to be filming our new Christmas Special in unseasonably warm weather – and this year is no different!”.

“You will be pleased to know that the Spring sunshine hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of the young Turners for an out-of-season snowball fight! Young stars Alice Brown (Angela), Edward Shaw (Teddy) and April-Rae Hoang were VERY keen to film this particular moment in our festive episode (Getting them to stop when we said ‘cut’ was a little more tricky… ;-))”

Also hinting at the emotional special, they added, “Filming for this year’s seasonal story is going BRILLIANTLY – laughter, joy and family. With perhaps a tissue or two”.

Call the Midwife Christmas special will air on Christmas day, while series 13 returns to our screens in 2024.

Currys Black Tag Event 2023 has begun in store and online, and in a survey conducted by the electronics retailer, 63% of shoppers have said that they wait until Black Friday to start their Christmas shopping in order to see what deals they can get on gifts.

Electronics are the top choice when it comes to bagging a Black Friday bargain, with 44% of people saying that these are the deals they are most likely to spend their money on. 20% of people are on the hunt for deals on beauty and personal care products, and 15% looking for great value on clothes and shoes. The remaining 21% was made up of holidays, flights, toys and general gifts.

70% of those that shop on Black Friday said they had managed to purchase a bargain in the Black Friday sales to give as a Christmas gift. The most common items purchased as gifts in the Black Friday sales included:

  • Coffee Machines
  • Hair Straighteners
  • Headphones
  • Designer kettles
  • Air Fryers
  • Smart Home Devices
  • Fitness trackers
  • Vacuum cleaners

Saving in advance:

When asked do they save in advance for Christmas gifts or wait and see what the deals are going to be in the Black Friday sales, 56% of people say they do a bit of both, 23% say they always wait to see what deals will be on offer and then splurge, and 21% have said they always save in advance of Christmas.

How much are people willing to spend?

46% of people will spend between €200 and €500 in the Black Friday sales but have said it does depend on what is on offer and they try not to spend unnecessarily. 37% will spend between €50 and €200 and will only buy something they absolutely need, and 11% will spend €500 or over, 6% said they will spend nothing as they don’t buy into sales.

Dublin Simon is pleased to unveil the ‘A Community of Hope: Artists for Dublin Simon’ auction, a noteworthy online event slated to begin on 20th November. Over 150 revered artists, musicians, and public figures from across Ireland have graciously contributed to this initiative, aimed at bolstering the essential frontline services provided by Dublin Simon to combat homelessness.

This artistic endeavour is anticipated to not only captivate international attention but also amass around €60,000, which will be channelled directly towards alleviating the hardships faced by the homeless community in Dublin.

The auction is the brainchild of artist and philanthropist, John O’Donnell, who, upon his return from 30 years overseas, was deeply moved by the homelessness crisis in Dublin. Now an artist, conservationist and currently based in the heart of the city, John's interactions with those experiencing homelessness propelled him to utilise his network to organise this remarkable auction, in association with Dublin Simon Community.

The event will parade a diverse range of artworks, photography, and unique music memorabilia, contributed by renowned personalities including paintings from artists such as Guggi, David Booth, Fraser Holden, Anna McKeever, Helen Steele and Jim Fitzpatrick; photography from Conor Horgan, John Hewson, Cormac Figgis, Peter Rowan and Nina Valle; music memorabilia from Caroline Corr, Finbarr Furey and Imelda Maye, as well as a range of work from well-known musicians such as Chris de Burgh, Andrea Corr, Wallis Bird, Cormac Begley and Liam O Maonlaí. With the auction lots estimated to range from approximately €100 to a staggering €7,000, there's a piece of art for every patron.

John O’Donnell said: “I felt moved to action by what I saw every day on the streets of Dublin and the conversations I had with people who were sleeping rough around the city. In our conversations the Dublin Simon name kept coming up, and when I looked into the work they do I knew that this was the ideal organisation to partner with to ensure that funds raised would be used at the frontline of the homelessness crisis.”

He added: “It has been a huge undertaking to bring this event together and I am astounded by the generosity of the artists and personalities who have delivered incredible artworks for this auction. I hope that this will be the first in a long line of annual art auctions to support Dublin Simon Community.”

Supporting this noble cause, Gormleys Fine Art and Adam’s Auctioneers have generously provided a splendid showroom to house this extraordinary collection. They will also host a grand launch event on 24th November and facilitate the online auction proceedings, ensuring a seamless experience for all involved.

The 'A Community of Hope: Artists for Dublin Simon’ auction opens a window to the public to view and bid on the collection online starting from 20th November until 30th November. Additionally, the collection will be available for in-person viewing at Gormleys Fine Art on Frederick Street in Dublin City Centre from 22nd November to 28th November.

Usher has opened up about his co-parenting experience. 

The Yeah! Singer is dad to Sire Castrello (2) and Sovereign Bo (3) with his girlfriend Jenn Goicoechea, and also shares Naviyd Eli Raymond (14) and Usher Raymond V (15) with ex-wife Tameka Foster, whom he divorced in 2009.

In 2014, Usher and Tameka’s eldest son, Usher Raymond V, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Opening up to People, the 45-year-old explained, “From the moment that Type 1 diabetes was a conversation, it was a re-acclimation to life. The life that we knew changed”.

“It comes with a great deal of consideration and commitment in itself because we’re all managing to make certain that my child makes the right decisions to have a happy, healthy life”.

Revealing how he and Tameka must ensure they communicate properly about their son’s condition, Usher went on to admit, “The breeding ground of disaster is lack of communication. “It’s been a task. It is very complicated because kids, by the way, will find a way to work you against each other. You have to be mindful of what you say and that they’re always listening and greater than that. They’re always watching”.

Usher then explained that understanding each other was key for his and Tameka’s co-parenting relationship. 

“Her experience is what it is. Sharing that he tries to find normalcy each day for his eldest child, Usher added, “It doesn’t have to be a life vacant of fun or experience and the excitement of just being a careless young person”.

After partnering with Sanofi's One Pledge Challenge to spread awareness about early detection of Type 1 diabetes, Usher shared a post to his 11.6M Instagram followers to say, “As a father of a child living with type 1 diabetes, I encourage you to join me in #The1Pledge movement so you can take charge of your family's health and #screenfortype1.
