Webdoctor.ie Ireland’s award-winning online GP service, announced the demand for their video consultation service increased by 50% in 2022 after a particularly strong last quarter with a total revenue increase of over 40% year-on-year.

The Contraceptive Pill and Patch, Hair Loss and Erectile Dysfunction were the most requested treatments of 2022 by Webdoctor.ie patients, while the organisation’s new treatment for Period Delay was also in high demand, achieving a growth increase of over 200%.

The Irish owned health technology platform also revealed that the most requested treatments for female patients in 2022 were for the Contraceptive Pill and Patch, Period Delay and Cystitis (also known as a Urinary Tract Infection) while the most requested treatments for male patients were for Hair Loss, Erectile Dysfunction and interestingly, Asthma.

The most common treatments for female Webdoctor.ie patients last year include:

Contraceptive Pill and Patch

Of those who had a contraceptive pill or patch related consultation, 79% were aged 18-35, with the majority being Dublin based. There was an 18% increase in the percentage of women between the ages of 35-44 availing of this treatment in 2022 in comparison to 2021.

Period Delay

Period Delay, a new treatment provided by Webdoctor.ie, saw a 200%+ increase in usage throughout 2022. 69% of those being prescribed the treatment are Leinster based, with a majority (74%) between the ages of 25-44.

Cystitis (Urinary Tract Infection)

2022 saw a rise in patients seeking treatment for Cystitis. This treatment was in demand by females of all ages:

  • 22% of those availing of treatment aged 18-24
  • 43% were aged 25-34
  • 21% were aged 35-44
  • 14% were aged 45+

Weight Management

The majority (90%) of those who sought advice and treatment from Webdoctor.ie’s weight management clinic were female. Webdoctor.ie has recently added this service which is only suitable for patients that are diagnosed as medically obese. This treatment was availed of by patients across the country, with 38% based in Dublin, almost one third (32%) based across the rest of Leinster and 18% being Munster based.

Hair Loss

Treatment for Hair Loss was availed of by male Webdoctor.ie patients only, with almost a quarter (72%) of those aged between 25-44. Since 2020, hair loss treatment has accounted for over 10% of Webdoctor.ie’s revenue, making it the third most popular service provided by the telehealth provider.

Erectile Dysfunction

Similarly to 2021, the statistics revealed that treatment for Erectile Dysfunction remains as one of the top treatments for male Webdoctor.ie patients in 2022, with half of those aged 45 and over and a further 30% aged between 45-54. These statistics show that despite any apparent stigma or embarrassment associated with sexual health concerns, patients are comfortable using an online GP for a consultation about Erectile Dysfunction.

Asthma

Asthma related consultations were common across all age demographics, however, those aged 25-44 account for 69% of these.

Commenting on these findings, David Crimmins, CEO of Webdoctor.ie says:

“It’s clear from the increase in demand for our video consultation services at Webdoctor.ie last year that the future of telehealth is strong and the need for our services looks like it will continue to grow – particularly as a support to brick and mortar clinics as online healthcare providers can really help ease the pressure on in person GPs during busy periods.

The statistics also show that patients are comfortable using online GP services now for all kinds of health and medical issues, which is great to see. We always want to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our patients which is why we’ve introduced a range of new services over the last year such as our Weight Management Clinic and new treatment for Period Delay, with more launching in the coming months”.

Fans have been sharing their support online for Boy George after the tragic death of his mum, Dinah, was announced yesterday.

The Culture Club singer’s representatives confirmed the sad news of Dinah’s passing on social media by sharing a statement on Boy George’s behalf. 

The statement was shared alongside a photo of George and his mum, and reveals Dinah passed away surrounded by her family, with George holding her hand.

It reads, “I am very sad to confirm the news of the passing of Boy George’s beloved mother Dinah. George is devastated as are the family. They were all by her bedside when she passed and George was holding her hand".

"He wants me to extend his deep gratitude to the huge out pouring of love and support he is receiving and whilst he can’t respond he feels grateful and the messages help”.

It closed off by adding, “George and his family would politely now request some privacy to be able to grieve and come to terms with their heartbreaking loss. On his behalf many thanks for your support, PK for and on behalf of Boy George”.

Many fans of the singer rushed to the comments to share their condolences with George. “I’m so sorry for your loss, sending love to you and the rest of your family”, wrote one fan.

“It's such sad news. She was a wonderful, strong and inspiring woman. I send my condolences to Boy George all his family”, added another of George’s many fans.

Boy George recently competed in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, where he spoke fondly about his mum and revealed she was hospitalised during the height of the Covid pandemic in 2020 and almost lost her life at the time.

George spoke candidly with former Health Secretary Matt Hancock during his time in the jungle about his mum’s hospitalisation, sharing how upsetting it was that Matt had broken his own lockdown guidelines while George couldn’t visit his mum in hospital.

Dinah, who was born in Dublin, wrote a book called Cry Salty Tears. It was published in 2007 and was based on the hardships of her life growing up in the 50’s and overcoming her abusive relationship with George’s dad, Jeremiah, who died in 2003.

Stacey Solomon has been getting candid about life as a mum.

The Sort Your Life Out presenter has recently welcomed a fifth addition into her family, a baby daughter named Belle.

Although Stacey generally has a gloriously positive attitude, the 33-year-old has opened up about her self-doubts as a mother.

Taking to Instagram last night, Stacey shared a collection of images from the previous day, including some mirror selfies with one-year-old Rose, three-year-old Rex and baby Belle as she feeds.

“Feeling like I smashed it today,” the mum-of-five wrote at the start of her lengthy caption. “Don’t mind if I sound big headed but I felt like a superhuman today.” 

Stacey went on to explain that she has been struggling with motherhood recently. “For some reason lately I’ve found it easy to tell myself that I’m failing or doing a rubbish job & I never tell myself how well im doing,” she admitted. “Three 3 & under & two teenagers is wonderful but it’s not easy.”

The former X Factor star then detailed the small wins she achieved that day. “Joe did a night feed for me last night & then went to work So we did the school runs and then afterwards I managed to make it for the first time EVER to Rhyme time at the library with Rex, Rose & Belle,” she beamed.

“Spent some time with other mum’s & felt so nice to see Rex & Belle enjoying being out of the house,” Stacey continued. “Then we stayed out as long as we could, came home, played play dough shops, did tuna pasta dinner & this evening was swimming lesson for Rexy.”

At the end of her caption, Stacey gave an invaluable reminder to her 5.6M followers. “Sorry for the essay. but basically Just a little reminder that you’re doing amazing, even when you feel like you’re not. You’re so incredible don’t forget to tell yourself that sometimes,” she insisted.

Stacey welcomed baby Belle into the world last month, alongside her husband Joe Swash. The couple share youngsters Rose and Rex together, while Stacey is also a mum to teenage sons Zachary (14) and Leighton (10) from previous relationships.

Khloe Kardashian has shared birthday wishes for her ex-partner Tristan Thompson.

The NBA player is celebrating turning 32 years old and Khloe has posted a tribute to him on Instagram along with photos of him with both of their children for the first time. 

Posting the collection of photos to her 297M Instagram followers where Tristan is posed with their four-year-old daughter True and seven-month-old son whose name they haven’t revealed yet, Khloe described Tristan as “The best father”.

In other pictures, Tristan can be seen posing with his eldest son Prince whom he shares with his ex Jordan Craig, and with his son Theo whom he shares with Maralee Nichols.

Thompson’s late mum features in another photo, as well as his 16-year-old brother Amari who suffers from epilepsy.

Khloe captioned the post, “Happy birthday @realtristan13. You are truly the best father, brother & uncle”.

“Your love, attention, silly dances, hugs, carpool rides, bed time rituals, the way u show up for them. All of the above means more than you’ll ever know to your family of littles”.

The 38-year-old closed off by adding, “My birthday wish for u is that u continue to crave change, healing, and transformation. Be strong, be kind, be patient, be free. Continue to Make your soul and your mommy proud. Happy birthday baby daddy”.

Khloe’s mum, Kris Jenner, also shared a birthday tribute to Tristan, making reference to his mum who sadly passed away in January of this year.

Sharing photos of her and Tristan, and of him with her grandchildren, Jenner penned, “Happy Birthday, Tristan! I know this year has been hard so far, but you seem to find the positive and the light amongst the sadness”.

“You look at the glass half full and it has been so great watching you grow as a dad, a friend, a brother, an uncle, and a son. You have shown me such inspiration and many lessons when it comes to how you deal with adversity and challenges that seem insurmountable”.

The 67-year-old added, “You have used these challenges as opportunities to better yourself day by day, and I know how proud your mom is of the man you have become. Thank you for that and for being such a special part of our family. We love you very much!!!”.

Caroline Flack’s mother has responded to an apology she has received from the Metropolitan Police.

The former Love Island presenter tragically took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40. 

At the time of her death, Caroline had been waiting to face prosecution for assaulting her boyfriend at the time, Lewis Burton.

The Metropolitan Police were later criticised for their handling of Caroline’s case, as it was apparent that they had not recorded the reason why the late X Factor host had been charged at the time.

The organisation has since apologised for their handling of Caroline’s case, but her family have spoken out in disagreement.

"It just seems wrong. They haven't said why there were no notes taken, why nothing was recorded. I don't know whether they're covering something,” she stated.

Victoria then asked if she thought Caroline would still be alive if she had just been cautioned, to which Christine replied: "I do, I really do."

Her mother then explained that Caroline focused on her negative publicity. "Once all the pictures came out in the newspapers and things were written about her on social media – they just picked up the bad," Christine detailed. Christine also added that the loss of her Love Island role took its toll on Caroline. "She lost her job straight away, without even being found guilty or going to court. She had another series axed,” she revealed.

In response to the Flack family’s upset, a spokesman for the Met Police said: "Our thoughts and sympathies remain with Ms Flack's family for their loss and we are sorry for the impact this has had on them."

It’s Love Island final day!

The final episode of this year’s winter series is finally here, and tonight, one of the four remaining couples will be crowned the winners of Love Island in South Africa.

To celebrate, the ITV show’s producers have released a first look teaser for tonight’s final episode, showing the four couples – Kai and Sanam, Tom and Samie, Lana and Ron, and Shaq and Tanya – preparing to make their declarations of love.

During the broadcast of last night’s episode, presenter Maya Jama took to her own Instagram stories to share a video of herself outside the Love Island villa with a live studio audience, preparing to host Love Island Aftersun.

Unfortunately, the 28-year-old posted the joyful video without realising that it contained a huge spoiler. In the background, contestants Will and Jessie could clearly be seen, confirming that fans were about to watch them exit the villa.

Maya’s accidental spoiler quickly circulated on social media, and the result was spread even further by ITV producers.

In the teaser preview for Aftersun, which aired moments before the dumping result was due to be shown, the cameras panned to Will and Jessie waving as Maya exclaimed, “Join me tonight in South Africa live from the villa! Dumped Islanders Will and Jessie and Casey and Rosie will be sharing the goss."

Fans were understandably outraged by the unexpected spoiler, and took to social media to vent their frustrations.

“Producers saw Maya already leaked who got dumped so just thought to tell us on the advert for aftersun,” one Twitter user assumed.

Kerry Katona has opened up about her childrens’ lives and how they are impacted by having her as a mum. 

The former Atomic Kitten band member has revealed her children have been ‘treated differently’ at school because of her job and who she is.

Kerry explained, “I can totally relate to comedian Katherine Ryan, who says her 13-year-old daughter Violet is treated differently at school because the teacher doesn’t like her famous mum”.

“My children get so much crap because of who I am. In the past, I think they’ve definitely been treated differently by teachers, other pupils and even parents”.

The 42-year-old continued, “When we first moved up north, my Heidi had to change schools straight away because boys in her class were teasing her over me being on OnlyFans”.

Giovanna Fletcher is honouring her son Buzz for a very special reason today. 

The former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here winner is marking her son, whom she shares with McFly’s Tom Fletcher, turning nine years old. 

Giovanna took to Instagram to share a moving tribute for her eldest child along with a video to her 2M Instagram followers. 

In the emotional clip, Giovanna is holding her son as a newborn and singing Edelweiss from The Sound of Music to him. 

As Buzz coos to the sound of his mum singing, the adorable tot sneezes, adding great cuteness to the video, with Giovanna and Tom laughing in the background. 

The Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast host captioned the sweet video, “9 years of loving you in my arms, but a lifetime of hoping and dreaming before that”.

Giovanna’s husband, Tom, also shared a video to mark their son’s birthday. The clip shows Buzz as a baby strapped to his dad’s back as he giggles at Tom blowing a dandelion.

“This kid is 9 today. 9!!! Buzz, happy birthday my magical little human. You changed my world”, the All About You singer added. 

Fletcher also shared an insight into the family’s celebrations are he shared a snippet of their son’s Harry Potter-themed birthday cake in the shape of a spell book and complete with the Sorting Hat and a magical wand.
