Aer Lingus has a long and proud history supporting apprentices, having first developed an aircraft apprentice programme in 1962. In more recent times, since 2011, Aer Lingus has supported the careers of 140 aircraft engineers who worked with the airline having graduated from the apprenticeship. Earlier this year, Aer Lingus celebrated the graduation of 27 newly qualified aircraft engineers who successfully completed the apprenticeship. All 27 graduates were hired by the airline and have joined its Maintenance and Engineering team servicing the airline’s fleet of Airbus aircraft, including the next-generation Airbus A321neo and A320neo, which are Aer Lingus’ newest and most sustainable aircraft.

The four-year programme, run in conjunction with both SOLAS, the State further education and training agency, based in Shannon, and Technological University Dublin, provides an opportunity for budding engineers to gain hands-on experience while becoming fully qualified Aircraft Engineers.

Aer Lingus’ 2023 Aircraft Engineer Apprentice Programme

Commencing in September 2023, the programme is a combination of classroom learning and practical experience, with a focus on line-maintenance and the delivery of Aer Lingus’ customer experience. This forward-looking programme helps to ensure Aer Lingus has access to talented and qualified engineers for future growth. Initially, the training will take place in Dublin, followed by time spent in Shannon in the first year before returning to Dublin to finish the programme. Upon completion, apprentices will have the opportunity to continue working with Aer Lingus as fully qualified aircraft engineers.

Aer Lingus Chief Technical Officer, Javier Jimenez, said: " The Aer Lingus 2023 Aircraft Engineer Apprentice Programme provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring aircraft engineers to gain practical experience and become fully qualified aircraft engineers.

Safety is at heart of everything we do in Aer Lingus and our engineers play an immensely important role in delivering a smooth operation for the airline.

Aer Lingus has a proud history of providing opportunities to people starting out on their careers. Our apprenticeship enables us to encourage and develop raw talent that is crucial to evolving our Maintenance and Engineering team. With only 15 places available, we encourage anyone interested to apply as early as possible.”

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate strong technical and mechanical skills, enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to commit to the programme's four-year duration. They must also have excellent communication skills and the ability to work on their initiative while contributing effectively as part of a team. Candidates can apply online now via the Aer Lingus website until 12 May 2023, by submitting a CV application, and if they meet the essential criteria, they will be invited to complete an online assessment and an interview. Applicants must be at least 18 years old by 1st September 2023.

Ghouri went on to say that filming clashed with her time in the Love Island villa.

Many of the reality TV star’s fans headed to the comments to share how much they think she would perfectly suit a role in the Barbie film.

One fan said, “Omg literally can’t think of a better fit!! but tbh i’m thankful for LI because that’s how i knew you & your beautiful heart”.

“Oh my god that would’ve been so cool if you got it!”, penned a second fan.

Former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, has shared her final speech to parliament.

In January of this year, Jacinda announced she would be stepping down as Prime Minister as she “no longer has enough in the tank”, and wanted to spend more time with her fiancé Clarke Gayford and daughter Neve.

During the 35-minute farewell speech, Ardern spoke about many of her life experiences since being New Zealand’s Prime Minister for five years. These topics included being Prime Minister during a terror attack, a volcanic eruption and a pandemic.

She also opened up about being a mum and her IVF journey while being a politician. The former Prime Minister was the second-ever global leader to give birth while in office.

Sharing an honest insight into her journey to becoming a mum, Jacinda said, “When I was 37 years old, I was told there are a range of factors that meant I hadn’t been able to get pregnant, and stress was probably one of them”.

“We decided to use the help of science but as so many couples experience, that wasn’t straightforward. I’d not long experienced a failed IVF round when I became leader of the labour party”.

“I thought that I found myself on a path that meant I wouldn’t be a mother. Rather than process that, I campaigned to become Prime Minister, a rather good distraction as far as they go”.

She continued, “Imagine my surprise when a couple of months later, I discovered I was pregnant. There is no question I have had incredible support to be the mother I wanted to be”.

“I leave knowing I was the best mother I could be. You can be that person and you can be here”.

“You can be anxious, sensitive, kind and wear your heart on your sleeve.. You can be a mother, or not, you can be an ex-Mormon, or not, you can be a nerd, a crier, a hugger, you can be all of these things, and not only can you be here, you can lead, just like me”.

Jacinda got emotional throughout many parts of the speech, in particular when speaking about the 2019 Christchurch terror attack, which she described as a ‘horrific moment of grief’.

The emotional speech ended with a standing ovation from members of the New Zealand parliament as Ardern signed off in Maori.

Alexandra Burke has broken her silence after announcing she’s expecting again!

The former X Factor winner shared yesterday that she is pregnant with her second child, alongside her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph. The news comes just eight months after the couple welcomed their first child together.

However, following on from her exciting news, the 34-year-old has now been shedding light on a serious health issue that she has secretly been battling for years.

Alexandra appeared on This Morning earlier today, to mark IBS Awareness Week.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system.

It causes symptoms like stomach cramps, bloating, diarrhoea and constipation. They can vary over time, and can last for days, weeks or months.

After being congratulated by hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond on her pregnancy news, Alexandra was asked about her experience with IBS.

“The joke of it was after I had all these symptoms I would also think that it was anxiety or something else that triggered it. Anxiety played a massive part in it all,” she explained.

The singer then went on to detail how it affected her career. “I was skipping meals before shows because all of the pain would come after eating. I'd be hungry and then do a show,” she recalled.

“It just was so bad and it got to the point where I thought to myself, ‘I can't take this anymore’”, she admitted.

Alexandra also clarified that her experience with IBS first began when she was in her early 20s, shortly after her success on the X Factor.

“It got to the point where I felt out of control and it was an out of body experience,” she shared. Alexandra added that she was too embarrassed at the time to speak out, but now wants to become an advocate for the condition.

Her candid interview comes just one day after she announced she is expecting her second child. The mum-of-one took to social media yesterday to share a sweet snap from her pregnancy photoshoot, with the caption: “We are so excited to do this all again”.

Congratulations to Alexandra and Darren!

Jessie Wynter has been revealing all about her future!

The Australian Love Island star has been settling into life in the UK following her departure from the villa with boyfriend Will Young.

Fans have been wondering how the lovebirds will be able to make their relationship work, with their homelands being on opposite sides of the world.

Now, Jessie has finally been sharing the new couple’s plans for their life together.

The 26-year-old recently spoke to OK!, and in the interview, Jessie was asked if she intends to move to England permanently and live with Will.

The personal trainer confirmed that she will soon be heading home to Australia to "swap over her suitcase" and renew her visa, but added that she fully intends to return to the UK.

"The plan is to come back to the UK for the long term. I love it here and I haven't experienced the warmer weather yet, so I'm not going back to Australia before I get some sunshine," she teased.

Jessie went on to explain that living in the UK for the first time has been a strange experience for her. "This is my first time proper in the UK. It's just so weird, I was saying to Will that usually people plan it when they move to a different country but I've just kind of ended up here,” she detailed. However, the Aussie added that living in England definitely “feels like home” to her.

Jessie and Will have been living with his parents for the time being, to coincide with Will’s job as a farmer. Jessie couldn’t help but gush about her boyfriend’s family in her interview.

"Now I'm living on the farm, I'm really close with Will's mum, because she's only got two sons,” she shared. "Will's dad always tells me 'it's so nice having a girl around'."

Lastly, Jessie noted that living on a separate property on the farmland would be “ideal” for the pair. "I think we would miss the family too much if we were too far away. But the both of us don't know too much about London, so we kind of need to sit down and have a look at what's actually going to work for us," she said.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation have reached out to the HSE and pleaded with them to take action ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend as hospitals nationwide are overcrowded.

The INMO fear there will be a surge in the amount of patients being admitted to hospital over the Easter weekend, and with hundreds already left without beds, are worried more pressure will be put on hospital staff and many will be left on trolleys.

Overcrowding is already a big issue nationwide as there have been 584 patients admitted to hospital without a bed today, April 5.

The INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha has released a statement saying, “Our members are concerned at the very high levels of overcrowding leading into the Easter period and we have set out the necessary immediate steps that must be taken to alleviate pressure across hospital sites”.

“We know that after every bank holiday there is a predictable surge in the number of people on trolleys. Therefore, all efforts to increase discharges, including over the long weekend period must be undertaken”.

She added, “Where it is available additional capacity must be obtained from the private sector and alternative care pathways in the community must be utilised”.

When previously speaking about the record high numbers of overcrowding in March, the worst since 2006, the General Secretary stated, “The State cannot expect nurses to bear the brunt of the crisis and work at full tilt in constantly overcrowded and understaffed wards year-round. Nurses want to be able to carry out the high quality care that they have been trained to do but cannot provide in these circumstances”.

“There must be a change in mindset in how we approach this overcrowding crisis across from senior decision-makers from hospital management to HSE senior management levels”.

Figures shared today to prove the overcrowding issue have revealed that there are 98 patients waiting for hospital beds in University Hospital Limerick, 59 in University College Hospital Galway and 73 in Cork University Hospital waiting on trolleys and wards for a bed.

Kourtney Kardashian has announced a TV special dedicated to her wedding to Travis Barker.

The couple tied the knot one year ago on April 4, during a service in Las Vegas following the Grammy awards.

As the wedding was not legally binding at the time, they subsequently went on to have two more ceremonies – one in a Santa Barbara courthouse, and another in the Italian village of Portofino.

Ever since news of their nuptials arose, fans have been curious as to why Kourtney and Travis’ weddings have never been included in the new seasons of The Kardashians.

Well, now their followers have finally received an answer – they’re getting their very own TV special!

Last night, the American streaming service Hulu released a first-look teaser at the upcoming special.

The special, titled ‘Til Death Do Us Part: Kourtney & Travis, promises that both "private and personal footage reveal an intimate family event full of beautiful moments."

In the teaser trailer, glimpses of all three of the pair’s weddings can be seen, as they reflect on their numerous big days. "Can you believe we got married three times?", 43-year-old Kourtney gushes in one scene.

"It's like choosing a child. I can't pick the best one!", exclaims 47-year-old drummer Travis in response.

The first look also showcases the couple’s extended family, with Kourtney’s sister Kim saying with pride: "There's really no love story like you guys.”

Following the release of the trailer, fans couldn’t help but share their excitement for the brand-new Kardashians content.

“I accept the invitation,” one viewer joked.

“Literally can’t wait,” another added.

“No this is too good,” a third commented.

Til Death Do Us Part Kourtney & Travis will be released on Disney+ next Thursday, April 13, followed by the upcoming third season of The Kardashians, which begins on May 25. We can’t wait!
