Danny Dyer has opened up about his dramatic EastEnders exit.

The actor was a fan favourite on the BBC soap, as he joined the show in 2013 in the role of Queen Vic owner Mick Carter.

However, after nine years of being in Mick’s shoes, Danny chose to bow out of EastEnders last year.

Now, a few months on from his memorable exit, the 45-year-old has shared that he momentarily regretted his decision to leave the EastEnders cast.

In an interview with The Mirror, Danny was asked about how he felt when the time came for him to depart the soap.

"I wrapped on EastEnders after nine years, had a very emotional leaving party. And I was doing my speech,” the father-of-two recalled.

"And I was thinking: 'S**t, have I made a mistake here? I love everybody here so much. And it’s given me so much, this job,’” Danny added.

In the end, Danny chose to stick with his decision, and viewers were shocked as his final scenes aired on Christmas Day.

Believing that his childhood sweetheart Linda was drowning, Danny’s character Mick ran into the water to save her – but was never seen again.

With Mick Carter now presumed dead, Linda and the remaining Carters have moved on without him. However, as his body was never found, many viewers have stated that the door is open for Danny to return to EastEnders someday.

Speaking to the Radio Times earlier this year, the TV star hinted that he could see Mick Carter returning in the future.

"I don’t regret leaving, but it was really emotional for me,” he explained at the time. 

"Mick’s exit felt like a real 'full stop', but maybe it was a 'dot, dot, dot,’” Danny teased.

Olivia Hawkins has been sharing behind-the-scenes details about the Love Island villa. 

Liv appeared on Love Island during the Winter series earlier this year and has been reflecting on her time on the show. 

As viewers got to watch the Raunchy Races in the latest episode of Love Island, now is the perfect time for Liv to open up about an ‘awkward’ part of filming the ITV2 reality series, revealing she ‘cringes’ when she thinks back to the challenge episodes. 

Writing in her OK! Column, the 28-year-old explained, “Before I went on Love Island, I used to think the challenge sets were quite far from the villa, but they're literally on the doorstep”.

“I was so confused when I realised because you have to run to all the challenges, so I was like, ‘Oh, we are literally running around the corner’”.

She continued, “Running to the challenges themselves is so cringy, because you know when it goes on TV, it's in slow-motion”.

“All the boys are waiting and they can see you like doing it and you'll do two or three takes as well, so it's just really awkward”.

Hawkins previously revealed that islanders would know if something dramatic was happening elsewhere in the villa as producers would ask contestants to stay where they were so they could film everything. 

“Sometimes a couple would be having an intense conversation, and you'd want to move – for example, to go to the toilet – so producers would ask you to sit back down for a second so that they could get the right shot”.

“If we were ever told we needed to stay where we were, we knew something big was happening, whether it was a new arrival or one of the couple's were having an intense conversation”, she admitted. 

Call the Midwife fans will be delighted to hear that two new characters will be joining the wonderful cast for series 13. 

The exciting news that viewers will meet two brand new midwives was announced this afternoon. 

The official Call the Midwife Instagram page shared a photo of the new cast members and gave details of what fans can expect from them when the latest series airs. 

Revealing their names are Joyce Highland, played by Renee Bailey, and Rosalind Clifford, played by Natalie Quarry, Call the Midwife explained, “ANNOUNCEMENT!! Two new midwives join the Nonnatus House team in Series 13!”.

“Today we can reveal that there are going to be some new faces gracing the streets of Poplar! Nonnatus House embarks on its new pupil midwife-training scheme – which introduces us to young trainee midwives Joyce Highland and Rosalind Clifford”.

They continued, “Joyce Highland hails from Trinidad, and aims to become Matron of a British hospital. Hardworking, intelligent and deeply kind, she has a traumatic past that she cannot conceal forever”.

“Rosalind Clifford is young, warm, passionate and funny. She may seem naive at times, but has an inner steeliness that will lead her to make some life-changing decisions”.

The creator and writer, Heidi Thomas OBE, spoke about the new midwives, saying, “After so many years, our much loved regular characters are like family to me – and our wonderful fans so often tell me that they feel the same”.

“I know they will be as thrilled as I am that Series 13 of Call the Midwife is full of beautiful moments that celebrate the young, the old, and the precious ties that bind them”.

“Newcomers Joyce and Rosalind arrive with much to learn, and much to give. And yet even as man prepares to walk on the moon, we see them grappling with life’s eternal questions. Who are we? What is love? And where do we belong?”.

Dame Pippa Harris, the show’s executive producer admitted, “We’re so excited to be back for our thirteenth series, with all the treasured Nonnatus team returning – and also to welcome Renee and Natalie to the cast”.

“They’re a wonderful addition to the show and I can’t wait for the audience to meet Joyce and Rosalind and to follow their journeys, by bicycle, through the streets and lives of Poplar’s residents”.

The crew at Call the Midwife closed off by adding, “We couldn’t be more thrilled with how Series 13 filming is going, and Renee and Natalie are SUCH great additions to our team as we head into the seventies!!”.

Many fans headed to the comments to share their excitement, with one penning, “Omg I just can’t wait for this new series to start”. A second viewer wrote, “This is great, I’m so excited”.

It was announced that filming for series 13 began back in May and viewers can look forward to watching it in 2024.

Ant and Dec have announced they are bringing back the popular 90’s TV show Byker Grove. 

Byker Grove followed the story of a group of young people attending a youth centre in Newcastle and will now be rebooted after 17 years. 

The presenting duo revealed the exciting news earlier today on their Instagram page, sharing the series is in the development stage with Fulwell 73 and their own company Mitre Studios. 

In a short clip shared to social media, Ant and Dec admitted they had some, “Pretty exciting news”, to reveal to the public but jokingly reassured fans that PJ & Duncan won’t be releasing new music. 

“Don’t worry, we’re not making another album”, said Dec before Ant chimed in adding, “Shame”.

“The very exciting news is that 17 years after it closed its doors for the final time, Byker Grove is opening them up again”.

Ant the explained, “To work on a reboot of the nineties TV classic, bringing it back for a whole new audience as well as those of us who are old enough to remember it so fondly”.

“It’s obviously a show very close to our hearts, the show which gave us our breaks, so we couldn’t be more excited that we’ll be giving it a new lease of life”.

Dec continued, “Once again, it will follow a new generation of young people and their families as they try to navigate the challenges they face today in the 2020s”.

“Bringing it back gives us here at Mitre Studios, alongside Fulwell 73, the opportunity to provide sustainable training and employment in front of and behind the camera for talent in the North East”.

Reflecting on where their on-screen characters PJ and Duncan might be now, they added, “The storyline development is at a very early stage”.

Many fans of the show rushed to the comments to share their excitement over the announcement.

“This is amazing news, loved Byker Grove back in the day”, penned a second fan of the show.

Georgia Steel has been reflecting on her time in Love Island. 

The 25-year-old appeared in the villa during the fourth series back in 2018 and has now revealed whether she’d go back on the show.

After seeing her pal Kady McDermott return to the villa in a shocking twist of events, Georgia divulges if she’d do the same thing. 

Speaking to Closer, Georgia admitted, “ And you know what? If I was completely single and had the potential of meeting a life partner, then I’d go back – why not?”.

“When I was 19, I went in there for fun – I was young, like Kady was. I’ve definitely changed! Who hasn’t changed from 19 to 25?”.

Steel went on to say, “Now I’m older and I don’t want to be wasting my time so I would go in with a serious head on my shoulders”.

“I’ve changed so much that people would be like, ‘Is that Georgia?’”.

The former reality TV star then revealed she understands why Kady decided to head back on Love Island. 

“Kady and I went into Love Island at the same age. She was about 20 and you don’t really know what guy is right for you”.

“I think she’ll have a more narrow-minded idea of what she needs and hopefully she finds the right one”.

Sharing details on her own current love life, Georgia said, “I want the next thing to be it. I’m completely and utterly single! I’m done having boyfriends now – I feel ready to settle down”.

Georgia thought back to her own mistakes when she left Love Island and gave advice for when the islanders eventually leave the show.

“My mistake was jumping too quickly and just not processing everything I’d been through. I made choices that maybe weren’t the best for my future at the time”.

“That would be my main advice – go home, collect your thoughts, get your feet back on the ground and give yourself a week with your family to process what you’ve been through, and then think about what you really want to do”.
