It was Sex and the City's biggest mystery.

What the hell was Mr. Big's real name? He was a main character for years on the show, so you'd think we ought to know the moniker given to Carrie's long time love.

But no, we didn't find out until the very last episode… and now we know the reason why.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show's producer said that they didn't come up with his name until the last minute.

Spolier alert, btw people.

"In the last episode, in the last moment, I realised [I had] to say Mr. Big's name." said executive producer Michael Patrick King.

"And I just [mimes typing on a keyboard] 'John.'

"And then I told all the writers and they were like, 'What the hell?', and I was like, 'We have to say his name because now he's real!'"

But why the name John, you ask?

Well, Michael said, "If I wanted to give him a name, I wanted to give him the most generic, American, almost pilgrim name.

"There's no spin, it's just John."

So ladies, there you have it.

We've all done it – purchased a delightfully refreshing bottle of water from the shop and drank the entire bottle.

However, instead of recycling the bottle straight away, we've kept the disposable bottle to reuse in the future.

'Everyday wear and tear from repeated washings and re-use can lead to physical breakdown of the plastic,’  according to a 2007 article in the Practical Gastroenterology journal.

This can lead to the breakdown of the chemicals in the plastic, tainting the water, and bacteria can then grow and flourish in the cracks. 

There is a particular concern about a chemical called Bisphenol A, or BPA.

BPA has been noted by the NHS as having the potential to cause breast cancer, heart disease and genital birth defects.

'The science is not yet completely clear on how BPA may affect humans,' the NHS told The Independent. 

'BPA may mimic hormones and interfere with the endocrine system of glands, which release hormones around the body.'

This sentiment has been reinforced by medical experts. 

'Certain chemicals found in plastic bottles can have effects on every system in our bodies,’ Dr Marilyn Glenville, PhD, warned Good Housekeeping.

‘They can affect ovulation, and increase our risk of hormonally driven problems like PCOS, endometriosis and breast cancer, among other things.’

Invest in a reusable water bottle to take with you on the go.

If you think you have the misfortune of spending your working day with some of the most irritating people on God's green earth, this recent  Imgur upload may force you to reconsider.

In a move which has helped us realise that our colleagues aren't even as close to annoying as we think they are, Imgur user, ChefShwasty, regaled internet users with a story which shows the lengths he will go to in order to aggravate a co-worker.

Taking it upon himself to make his colleague's day as hideous as possible, Chef hid a Bluetooth speaker in a vent above his co-worker's desk and then proceeded to press play on BeeGee's track Stayin' Alive.

What ensued was an entire day's worth of frustration and confusion for the poor unfortunate that Chef tells the internet he 'likes to f*ck with'.

In a blow by blow account, the public learned the extent of Chef's mischievous streak, and it's safe to say, our own co-workers are suddenly looking a lot more sound…

Scientists have found that men who exercise regularly have lower sex drives.

So, if you and your man are gym bunnies, you might want to put a pin in it…

Research published in Medicine & Science in Sports and Exercise found that men who engage in endurance sessions have lower libidos than those who take part in moderate to light work outs.

The study, which was conducted in the University of North Carolina, questioned 1,000 males and saw that there is a major link with exercise and sex drive.

"Clinicians who treat male patients for sexual disorders and/or council couples on infertility issues should consider the degree of endurance exercise training a man is performing as a potential complication factor," said the paper.

Good excuse for your SO to skip the gym, eh?

New figures from the annual Trafficking in Persons Report say that there has been a 20 per cent increase in human trafficking victims.

The report identified 78 victims of trafficking 2015, which rose to 95 in 2016.

A number of these victims are children.

'This year again a worryingly high number of Irish children count among the total detected figure of 95,' Brian Killoran, CEO of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, told Breaking news.

There are also concerns that there is a high number of these victims have been sex trafficked. 

'It is worrying victim identification in Ireland has not been improved despite numerous signals from courts and practitioners that Ireland is failing victims,' said Nusha Yonkova, anti-trafficking manager at the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

'Victims of sex trafficking remain disadvantaged due to the woefully inadequate accommodation where they spend extended periods of time,' 

'They are also put at a disadvantage when it comes to viable avenues for victim compensation,' she told The Irish Examiner.

There has been a rise in suspected victims from Nigeria, Romania, Brazil, and Pakistan.

If you spent his Glastonbury set holed up on the sofa wishing you were fortunate enough to experience him in person, your chance is just around the corner because Ed Sheeran has just announced seven Irish concert dates for May 2018.

It has been confirmed that the Thinking Out Loud singer, who teased us with new tour dates yesterday, will take to the stage at Croke Park on May 4 and 5 next year.

Following these sure-to-be epic performances, he will move up to Belfast for a gig at the Boucher Playing Fields on May 9.

Galway will then get a slice of the action as the Suffolk-native moves west to Pearse Stadium on May 12 and 13 before returning to Dublin for two final gigs in the Phoenix Park on May 16 and 18. Whew!

Tickets will be on sale from Saturday July 8 at 9am.

Star of The Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki, has suffered a major loss this morning after his LA ranch burned to the ground.

TMZ has reported that Johnny's ranch in San Luis Obispo was engulfed by huge flames, which couldn't be prevented.

The publication also reports that the surrounding property was also torched in the fire, which spread across 1,200 acres of land.

According to CNN, the actor has not been on the property since the fire, and has said that he'll be back to collect and salvage memorabilia once the fire services give the all-clear.

It is believed the blaze started as a hill fire that spread across the outskirts of LA.

The TV star said in a statement: "My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire.

"The threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile.

"It's never the structures that create a community — it's the people.

"And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild.

"We've done it before and we'll need to do it together again. And it will make our community even closer and stronger."

Johnny added that he is relieved nobody was hurt.

Dublin Airport has responded to the news of an intended pro-life demonstration by the Irish Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform.

The centre intends to demonstrate at Irish airports to discourage women from leaving the country to seek abortions, and has sought volunteers and donations. 

The 'airport education project' will hold graphic signs featuring images of what it alleges to be aborted foetuses in an attempt to shock the woman out of leaving for abortions.

 The official Dublin Airport Twitter page has given a response to the potential 'project.'

'In response to queries, under statutory airport bye-laws, the distribution of leaflets, etc and/or the holding of a public meeting or demonstration is prohibited unless approved by the airport.'

'We do not give permission for protests of any type at Dublin Airport.'

Cork Airport has given a similar response.

'Under airport bye-laws any protest is prohibited unless approved by @CorkAirport.'

'We do not give permission for protests of any type, ever.'

Twitter has been in uproar since the news broke yesterday afternoon.

The National Safety Authority of Ireland has issued some guidelines on how to enjoy your summer safely. 

One particular area they focused on was festival safety. 

The Authority is urging revellers to check the quality of their tents ahead of camping festivals to ensure that it is weather safe and flame retardant. 

'As people are making plans for this summer to attend parties, festivals and events it is important to be aware of the standards of the products you are buying for yourself and your family, to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer,' reads a statement on the NSAI tips site.

'If you are one of the thousands of music lovers getting ready to go to one or more of this years' summer festivals, look out for the CE marking and standards on tents and camping equipment before you purchase.'

'I.S. EN 15619 and IS EN 13782 are both tent safety standards that will ensure the design, structure and fabric used in your tent is reliable, secure and flame retardant to avoid a dangerous situation.' 

A good thing to make a note of this festival season.

Jim Carrey will face a wrongful death lawsuit of his Irish ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White.

The actor tried to get the suit thrown out of court, however a judge has confirmed the trial will go ahead.

The US judge said that Jim used his "wealth, influence and celebrity status" to provide Cathriona with prescription drugs, which she overdosed on.

The make-up artist's mother and husband are pursuing the lawsuit, and their lawyer said: "In light of the court's recent rulings entirely in our favour, we look forward to the trial in April.

"The public deserves to know the truth."

Press Association also claim that Mr Carrey requested privacy regarding his health, however the judge ruled that the jury should hear medical evidence regarding the claims that the actor gave Ms White three STIs.

Cathriona, from Co Tipperary, was found dead at her Los Angeles home in Septemeber 2015.

Jim has previously said that the lawsuit against him was "Malicious" and "predatory."

The 20-day trial will begin April 2018.

The rental crisis is ongoing, and now the Government is keen to uncover the impact of short-term rental site Airbnb on the matter.

Executives from the holiday rental site will face questions from TDs and Senators today about the issue.

The site boasts 6,700 properties for rent in Dublin alone, according to figures published by The Journal.

'Despite the ongoing rental crisis, we have learned that the government working group established to look at this issue has only met once, and that was last week,' said Minister for Housing Simon Coveny last week.

'We know the Department met with Airbnb in January this year and it appears nothing has been achieved since.'

The Oireachtas Housing committee heard at the time that the popularity of Airbnb in Dublin is reducing the number of homes available for long term tenants, thereby contributing to the crisis. 

Dublin County Council said that the short term rental market has an 'adverse effect' on the crisis.
