Putting a personalised touch on any gift makes it extra special. 

Selection boxes are a staple Christmas gift, but we have often wondered if there was a way that the classic confectionery present could be made that little bit more exceptional. 

Luckily, Maltesers seems to have been reading our minds, and had teamed up with Arnotts to bring Christmas shoppers that extra special accentuation to add to their boxes of chocolate.

Personalised selection boxes will be available in Arnotts from now until Christmas Eve (so it's perfect for a last minute gift).

Confectionery connoisseurs can visit the Maltesers Pop Up in store  and nab Maltesers, Galaxy or Snickers selection boxes.

The boxes can then be personalised with a Happy Christmas message and the name of your gift recipient. 

The personalisation is printed on a silky ribbon which is wrapped around the box by the staff at Arnotts (great news for us lazy gals who hate wrapping).

The boxes cost €8.00 each, including your personal message.

There's no other way to say it lads – it's feckin' freezing outside. 

Luckily, the high street seems to have predicted this cold snap, and is awash with stunning fur coats and cosy leather gloves.

Yesterday, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar claimed that Ireland's homelessness crisis was 'low' by international standards. 

The Taoiseach spoke on the second day of the Fine Gael national conference in Cavan, and insisted that the Government would be turning the tide on homelessness none the less. 

Facing backlash over his remark, on Twitter, Varadkar responded to critics: 'Context matters.'

'Was asked a question yesterday about Ireland having one of the highest homelessness levels. We don’t by international comparison. That's a fact.,' he said.

He then drew further criticism from citizens with the following statement:

'It is nonetheless a stain on our society and we’ll do all we can to eliminate it.'

Twitter users were taken aback by the turn of phrase used by the Taoiseach. 'Yes context matters Taoiseach and referring to homelessness as a "stain on society" is an unpalatable statement,' said one user.

Niamh Randall, spokesperson for The Simon Communities of Ireland, challenged the Taoiseach's statement via Twitter: 

'This narrative must be challenged. It’s is not true.Other countries use a broader definition of homelessness when gathering their statistics our monthly statistics only record a limited number – those who are in Section 10 funded emergency accommodation.'

'These monthly numbers do not include rough sleepers & those staying is squats, hidden homelessness people living in unsuitable, overcrowded, unsustainable accommodation, those in accommodation not funded through section 10 – many thousands of people struggling.'

Ah The George, a fine establishment in which to dance, drink and maybe even dabble in drag. 

Every now and again, the Dublin institution is turned into a completely fabulous market, and the next one in the diary is full of festive cheer. 

A Fabulous Christmas Market is making its way to The George on December 3, and we're already excited.

The market will play host to a wide variety of vendors, so whether you're looking for tapas, trinkets or toys you're in the right place. 

According to the event description, the Fabulous Market promises to showcase a variety or designers, creators and makers from all over Ireland.

There will also be a full bar in swing, as well as cakes and coffee available for mid-shopping snackers.

The market will run from 12 noon to 6pm, so make sure you get in to snap up a stunning, unique item.

A 35-year-old man is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court on Monday charged in connection with the case.

The man is thought to be connected to the  murder case of  Anne Colomines October 24 2017, after being arrested by investigating Gardaí.

Anne, originally from France, was stabbed to death in her apartment on Dorset Street on the night in question. 

Her partner was also found in the apartment suffering from stab wounds. 

Gardaí.were alerted to the incident at around 11.30pm that night.

Anne was pronounced dead at the scene, and a knife was later found at the apartment which was believed to have inflicted the stab wounds. 

Gardaí.were reportedly treating the crime as a domestic incident, according to a previous report from RTE. 

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.

Kim Kardashian has taken to Instagram to give fans an insight into her preparation for her third child. 

Baby number three's imminent arrival was marked by a lavish and certainly stunning baby shower thrown by his or her mum. 

Kim and Kanye's third child is expected to arrive via surrogate. 

'Okay guys my baby shower for baby number three, it's just a tea for three with a cherry blossom forest. It is so pretty,' she told her fans.

'We're still setting up but it's a beautiful tea in a cherry blossom forest.' 

The home was decked out in pink and purple cherry blossom trees, with a carpet of cherry blossom petals scattered on the floor.

Little sister Kylie Jenner also took to Snapchat to share the occasion with her followers.

Kim also used the event as opportunity to promote her new fragrance line, giving away the collection as party favours. 

Sister Khloe Kardashian also arrived to the party (seemingly without a baby bump of her own, if those rumours are still doing the rounds) and looked amazing in a blue mini dress.

Kim donned a matching grey bodycon skirt and bandeau top for the occasion. 

Kim previously revealed her pregnancy to Khloe in an episode of KUTWTK.

'What happens every time I say guess what?' Kim asked Khloe over the phone, who responds that it means someone's pregnant.

'We're having a baby!' Kim replied.

Noel and Lima Gallagher have been embroiled in a well-document feud for the guts of a decade, and now one Irish pop star is caught in the crossfire. 

While discussing his brother's new album As You Were, Noel made some less than flattering remarks about the new music. 

Noel insinuated that his brother's album was written by a number of different people, and that he doesn't feel it merits his opinion.

'I'm not sure I can be arsed formulating an opinion on a record that's written by an army of songwriters,' he told the new issue of I-D magazine. Ouch. 

However, Irish singer Niall Horan was then dragged into the mix. 

'Isn't the one from One Direction doing that?,' Noel said, using Niall's new album Flicker to diss his brother's music.

Discussions on rape, sexual harassment and consent have been more prominent than ever in recent weeks, as case after high profile case is exposed in Hollywood and the music industry. 

Yesterday, Hozier gave his two cents on the manner. 

Taking to Twitter, the singer penned a poignant tweet t in favour of consent.

The Take Me To Church musician framed his tweet in a manner intended to address the commonplace (and incorrect) argument that consent is a grey area, and that articulating consent between adults can ruin the mood.

'Consent is sexy. Lads, if you're not convinced that consent, audible consent -something uttered, something whispered, something called for loudly- is sexy, then chaps I'm afraid you may not be doing this right,' he tweeted. 

'Be well.'

He then followed this with: 'Before I get butchered for using this language, of course it is first and foremost *mandatory*.'

'I'm more addressing a commonly found aversion to "ruining the mood" by discussing sex before an act of sex, which is frankly, nonsense.'

Many people applauded the singer for making a positive contribution to the discussion surrounding sexual violence, and for using his platform to publicise an important issue. 

However, others criticised the singer for framing his comment in such a way. 

'I understand the sentiment but framing consent as sexy isn’t necessarily sending the right message,' tweeted one. 

'Consent isn’t sexy, it is wholly and absolutely necessary.'

In response, Hozier, aka Andrew Byrne, tweeted once more.

'That was a poorly worded tweet. I had seen something that annoyed me re people talking about, voicing, asking etc and provided absolutely no context at all in what I thought was an irreverent jibe aimed at lads. Language matters and framing it that way was silly,' he said.

Fans rushed to his defence, saying 'you're an ally dude. We all see that.'

'If what you said offended somebody then you must be doing something right lol – people on this site at this time are so vitriolic anyway,' said another.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery of a woman in her 70s.

The crime occurred in Sandymount at a bus stop on Newgrove Avenue shortly before 7pm last night.

The elderly lady was approached by a lone male who, following a struggle to get her handbag, made off with nothing.

The man is thought to have been in his early 20s.

The woman sustained a number of injuries in the struggle and was taken to St Vincents Hospital for treatment.

Her injuries are not life threatening.

Gardaí in Irishtown are keen to speak to anyone who may have been at the bus stop on Newgrove Avenue last night.

Status yellow rainfall warnings have been issued across the country as the wet weather has arrived. 

Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry can expect up to 50mm of rainfall, and the warning is in place until 6pm this evening. 

Offaly, Limerick and Tipperary can expect up to 40mm of rainfall, and the warning is also in place until 6pm this evening. 

The Road Safety Authority has asked drivers to slow down on the roads.

Drivers are warned to increase their breaking distance between vehicles. 

Many roads are coated in surface water, and so aquaplaning is a risk. 

Flash flooding may also occur. 

Stay safe out there.

Social media is awash with pleas for information regarding the whereabouts of Irish women Eimear Noonan 

Eimear has been missing from her home in Lyon, France since Wednesday. 

She was living in the town of Annonay, about 75 kilometres south of Lyon.

The young woman, who is in her 20s, is a teacher in the town. 

Originally from county Clare, Eimear was last seen shopping in the small town. 

Eimear is around 5 ft 9 in in height with blue eyes and brown hair.

Her family are appealing for any information and have flown to France to assist in the search. 

The Department of Foreign Affairs are providing assistance at this time and are aware of the disappearance.
