Meitu has blown up on social media over the past few days thanks to it's adorable filter that essentially makes everyone look like a flawless, baby-faced character from Harajuku. 

The app has been big in China for a number of years, but the gimmick has just caught on in the wider world.

The beauty app allows its users to smooth and whiten skin, sort out spots, slim down the face and create anime-sized eyes. 

However, some people have become alarmed at the amount of data permissions that you have to enable in order to use the app.

The app can access your calendar, internet browser history, take photos and videos, location, read phone call status and caller identity, read, modify and delete the contents of your photo USB storage, control phone vibration and prevent the phone from sleeping. 

It’s normal for apps to need to access different elements of data and enable functions on a phone so they can run properly. 

However, "they are collecting some very odd data that shouldn’t be looked at necessarily for the application functioning, ” Greg Linares, a security researcher at threat management firm Vectra Networks told Wired.

While there is no evidence to show that Meitu is a scam, that is a worrying amount of information to part with.

The app has been running since 2008 and is massive in China,  and is currently worth billions.

If your desire to down a glass or two of red wine is often hampered by your desire to boast a set of pearly whites, you're not alone.

Having to do the classic red wine test after every glass can be a right pain in the a*rse, so when it sounded like wine accessory company, Oenophilia, had remedied our problem with a handy device, we were all ears.

Unfortunately though, the Wino Sippers device is little more than a built-in straw. (We're sorry.)

So, the good folk over at Oenophilia have basically designed a glass that features what amounts to a spout, so wine drinkers can guzzle down without experiencing the teeth stainage we all know and loathe.

Oh, and it also comes in at a cool $24 for a set of two glasses.

We don't know about you, but we'll either live with our blackened teeth or just use a plain old straw and save our money for an extra bottle of vino.

Right so, let's start at the beginning.

An evolutionary biologist named Vazrick Nazari has recently identified a new moth in Southern California.

And this moth just happens to have a head of silky yellow scales and a 'comparatively smaller' penis than that of its close relative Neopalpa neonata.

As a result of these particular features, good ol' Nazrick has decided to name his discovery Neopalpa donaldtrumpi.

That's right, ladies. This flaxen-haired creature with the small genitalia has been named after the 45th President of the United States of America.

And Twitter absolutely loves it.

"That moth will Make America Great one day too,"  wrote one while another remarked: "Hence forward , the grabus vaginus moth."

Michael Flatley has broken his silence on Lord of the Dance performing at the US presidential election today in Washington DC.

The dancing troupe will take to the stage this evening at the Liberty Ball as Donald Trump becomes the 45th US president.

And while Michael won't be up there doing a jig himself, he told the Irish Independent that it is "a great honour" for him.

“We have performed for many presidents. It is always a great honour to be asked.

Every January, millions of women around the world make resolutions to lose weight, tone up, look more put together or just change themselves or their body in some way.

When those resolutions don't quite work out, in fact 80 percent of people have failed at their new resolutions by February according to U.S News, we can be left pretty downhearted.

While all women's bodies as "real," losing the photoshop is such a major step for a company to take in the fashion industry.

Just as her family are leaving the White House, the New York Post has revealed where Malia Obama is heading to next.

While her family are jetting off to Palm Springs for a post-White House holiday, Malia is setting her sights for New York where she bagged an internship with Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

The 18-year-old is set to start work at the beginning of next month in the NYC office of The Weinstein Co.

At this stage, it is unclear what department Malia will be working in, but it is thought she will dip her feet into marketing or development for the company.

This isn't the first time the young adult interned in NYC though. She previously worked on the set of Girls in July 2015 and was also a production assistant on Halle Berry's show Extant in 2014.

I finally found the new Moda Prismatic Face Perfecting Kit!!! I went to several different Wal-Marts and it was a total bust every single time. Either they didn't have them, someone never wanted to check or they didnt have them on the shelf. Last night I asked some guy from the hardware department if he could look up an item for me. He said they had 3 in stock and maybe someone didn't pull it from the back yet. He said he would check for me. While he was gone, I told myself "If they don't have it just wait until February." Low and behold he comes walking back to the hardware department with the brushes in hand!! These brushes were tough to find!! They're super soft and beautiful!! Renowned TV actor Miguel Ferrer has died at the age of 61.

Miguel passed away yesterday, January 19, after a long battle with throat cancer.

George Clooney released a statement to People about his friend's death.

"Today history will mark giant changes in our world, and lost to most will be that on the same day Miguel Ferrer lost his battle to throat cancer. But not lost to his family.

"Miguel made the world brighter and funnier and his passing is felt so deeply in our family that events of the day (monumental events), pale in comparison. We love you Miguel. We always will."

Miguel has starred in many great TV shows and movies including NCIS: Los Angeles, Desperate Housewives, Crossing Jordan, Iron Man, Superman and Will & Grace.

At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his wife Lori, sons Lukas and Rafi, and his brother and sisters.

A Starbucks barista has been suspended pending further disciplinary action after they used the corporation's naming policy to taunt a customer with a speech impediment.

According to the Daily Mail, Richard Proctor was in a Kent branch of the global chain when he was handed a takeaway cup which had been used to mock his stammer.

Instead of simply writing 'Richard' when provided with the customer's name, the barista wrote "R R R… ichard" in reference to Mr Proctor's pronounced stammer.

Contacting the Starbucks UK Facebook page to complain, he wrote: "The treatment I received from one of the Starbucks staff was extremely offensive and humiliating."

"Yes I have a speech impediment, and have been subjected to many jokes over the years, of which most I can handle, however there are many people that struggle to cope in public and this could be extremely upsetting for them," he continued.

"This is not unique but for some reason some of society think it's acceptable behaviour. The only difference in this instance is that I was handed the proof instead of having to listen to the comment," he added.

Responding to the incident, a spokesperson for the coffee chain said: "We were disappointed to hear of this customer's experience and have been in touch directly to apologise."

"The actions of the partner involved were unacceptable and they have been suspended pending further disciplinary action. We aim to provide a warm and welcoming environment for all of our customers, and plan to provide additional awareness training for our store partners in future."

Weighing in on the matter, Chief Executive of The British Stammering Association (BSA), Norbert Lieckfeld, insisted Richard's experience was yet another example of the discrimination faced by individuals with a speech impediment.

"This is just another example of the ridicule and thoughtlessness that people who stammer face every day and which makes living your life with a stammer so hard," he said.
