Annalise Murphy to be honoured at Olympic homecoming this week
After winning silver in Rio, Annalise Murphy is getting a hero’s welcome in Dublin this Thursday.
In an otherwise disappointing Olympics, Annalise Murphy was the face of hope as she brought home Team Ireland’s second silver medal.
And this Thursday, August 25th the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the National Yacht Club are celebrating just that.
After just missing out on a place on the podium in London, Annalise made sure to bring home the silverware this time round as he lifted the country’s spirit by coming second in the women’s laser radial sailing.

Arriving by boat to the East Pier, the parade will kick off at 6pm to honour Annalise and other members of the Irish Olympic team and finish at People’s Park where they will be officially welcome home by An Cathaoirleach of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Cormac Devlin.
The event is open to everyone and will be full of music, food and celebrations to honour our Olympians.
