Twitter is awash with tributes today following the news that music mogul, Lou Pearlman, has passed away.

Lou, who died while serving time at the Federal Correctional Institution of Texarkana, Texas, is responsible for some of the biggest music acts of the 90s and noughties, and has this week been remembered for his contribution to the world of pop music.

From Backstreet Boys and NSYNC to O-Town and Britney Spears, some of the biggest names in the music industry have Lou to thank for their ascension to super stardom, with many taking to Twitter to pay tribute to the New Yorker.

"I hope he found some peace," wrote Justin Timberlake yesterday. "God bless and RIP, Lou Pearlman."

Referring to Lou's conviction and subsequent imprisonment for multi-million dollar fraud, Lance Bass wrote: "Word is that #LouPearlman has passed away."

"He might not have been a stand up businessman, but I wouldn't be doing what I love today w/out his influence," he finished.

Acknowledging the profound effect Lou had had on his life, Backstreet Boy's AJ wrote: "Many emotions at the news of Lou's passing."

"Without Lou I wouldn't have met my four brothers or had the opportunity of a lifetime. RIP,"  he added.

The cause of Lou's death has not yet been revealed to the public.
