After a night out, it’s pretty common to crave salty, fatty and not-so-good-for-you foods. But are you aware of how many calories you could be adding to your diet?
According to a survey of 2,042 by Slimming World, which was commissioned by YouGov, binge drinking can lead to the consumption of an extra 6,300 calories during the following 24 hours.
Nearly half of those surveyed, admitted to cancelling physical activity, preferring to stay in bed, watching telly and going on social media after a night out.
It doesn’t even take that much wine to leave you reaching for the fast food dial – just three large glasses.
The survey revealed that on a night out and the day after, those who took part in the poll, consumed an extra 2,829 calories in food, 1,476 in drink and 2,051 in extra calories the next day.
Head of nutrition and research at Slimming World Dr. Jacquie Lavin, says: “alcohol makes the food even more rewarding. It tastes good and feels even better than it would do normally.”
Maybe it’s time to put the glass of wine down, unless you want to gain 2lb.

Hollywood’s biggest director, Steven Spielberg, will direct an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel The BFG.
The story follows a little girl who leads a big, friendly giant on a journey to stop the fiercer man-eating giants from gobbling children.
DreamWorks acquired rights in 2010, and Melissa Mathison, who last teamed with Spielberg on ET , will pen the script.
Frank Marshall will produce, with Michael Siegel and John Madden on board as executive producers.
Madden was originally set to direct The BFG but is instead focusing on the sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Spielberg will begin production in first quarter of 2015, with a planned 2016 release.
“The BFG has enchanted families and their children for more than three decades. We are honored that the Roald Dahl estate has entrusted us with this classic story,” said the director.
Sean Penn’s daughter, Dylan, is really making her way in the fashion world – the 23-year-old has just been snapped up by Premier Model Management.
Dylan Penn, who is also Robin Wright’s daughter, has been modelling for a while and was even rumoured to be romantically involved with Robert Pattinson.
Her new modelling contract is already opening up doors as she has already been signed up to do a spread for Elle magazine.
Dylan is not the only famous face at Premier Model Management, as Foxes’ Chloe Norgaard and Tallulah Harlech also work for the modelling agency.

Usual omelette recipe. But instead of the usual ingredients, stick in some chopped tomatoes, olives and feta cheese for this tasty Mediterranean treat.
Tomato egg-stacks
A lot easier than it sounds. Sauté two cloves garlic (finely chopped). Add four thick slices of tomato and cook for one minute per side. Then top off with four fried eggs.
Pineapple and cream cheese omelette
A weird but delicious combination. Again, the usual omelette recipe and then simply add some crushed pineapple, cream cheese and crumbled bacon.
Creamy eggs with bacon
Maybe not the healthiest on the list, but it’s definitely different from having some black and white pudding. Just scramble some eggs and add some cream and bacon. Sounds messy, but it’s delicious!
Cheese and egg sandwich
Simple and definitely different. Spread some cottage cheese on your favourite bread with half a chopped scallion and top with one sliced hard-boiled egg.

Sharing the snap, which she took in front of a mirror, Hilary revealed her painful looking back and chest after she tried out the ancient Asian healing method.
She captioned the image, “The cure to this chronic back/neck pain?! Please let it be! #cupping #acupuncture #massage.”
Dating back 5,000 years, the therapy is a form of acupuncture, and is based on the idea that suction from the cups draws the skin up and mobilises blood and energy around the body.
And Hilary certainly isn’t the only celebrity fan of cupping.
Last month, Lena Dunham also shared a topless picture of herself after undergoing the ancient treatment.
