Skin Veg brings all the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant goodness of vegetables to your face, without you having to eat kale or superfood salad.

If your skin is an organ, the ingredients you put on it is essentially food for your face. It's important to know every ingredient and why it's necessary to be within the product.

Skin Veg is a hyaluronic acid and is part of your skin's 10-a-day, highlighter, no-fuss hydration prep for maximum results.

The pre-serum and penetrant enhancer works to prepare your skin to absorb the active ingredients in your other products, and packs goodness into your skin.

Your skin may protect your organs, but what actually protects your skin?

The Skin Shield is a broad spectrum physical SPF 50 (PA+++) perfect for protecting your skin against UVA and UVB rays, infrared and HEV light, the light emitted from computers and screens.

Even better: it's water-resistant and oil-free. The moisturising, mineral SPF base gives daily coverage with niacinamide to defend damage. It'll give you a dewy but not shiny finish, and we're sold.

Mix + Match Products

Target skin concerns only specific to you whenever you need to, with these mix-and-match treats. Add them to your Core 4 routine when your skin needs some TLC.

Skin Good Fats isn't just a great moisturiser; it acts as ceramide barrier balm, feeding your skin's barrier with what it recognises.

The barrier balm provides your skin with a skin-native ceramide, essential fatty acids and a patented anti-irritation ingredient to replenish the good fats your skin already uses.

By doing this, your skin is happy, plump and hydrated. Make it your night cream and moisturiser if your skin is dry, itchy, irritated or annoyed.

The Skin Nerd has their sights set on global exportation of Skingredients® over the next 18 months, and they're ready to takeover the world of skincare.

Two years in the making, the Skingredients® range was aimed to simplify skincare for the masses while remaining affordable. Jennifer explained her goals when she dreamed up the glorious goodies;

“Results-driven skincare can be so expensive and unattainable. I wanted to make it simpler. My belief is that you need to mirror what you’re putting into your body with what you’re putting onto your skin."

It's all about empowerment and confidence. Do yourself a huge favour and try the range. Trust us, you'll never look back.

Skingredients® is available online, in pharmacies, department stores and selected salons nationwide.

When it comes to skincare and having a beauty regime, it can quickly become confusing and even a bit overwhelming. From figuring out your skin type, to finishing your daily routine with the right women’s perfume for the occasion, suddenly your beauty regime sounds more like hard work.

It doesn’t have to be so mind-boggling! One of the first things to remember is that no matter your skin type, or how busy you may be, having any sort of regular routine can help to maintain healthy, glowing skin.

So, if you’re hoping to create a new beauty regime, overhaul your current routine or simply just learn a bit more about skincare, here are some top tips to help you get started.

Understand your skin type

Understanding your skin is so important before you buy any new products, as it can make sure you’re providing your skin with the treatment it needs. Most of us identify our skin type when we’re in our late teens, and often stick to that diagnosis into our 20s and beyond.

It’s worth keeping in mind that your skin will change significantly as you get older, so take some time to identify any new concerns or changing skin conditions. Either do your homework, or consider seeing a professional at a skincare counter to help you.

Keep it simple

It can be easy to get carried away once you start discovering a new routine. However, it’s important to keep it simple; this means you’ve got more chance of keeping it up every day! No one wants to spend half an hour in front of the mirror every morning or night, so stick to minimum products and it will quickly become part of your everyday routine.

One of the best tips for good skin maintenance is using a quality cleanser. Look out for the type of cleanser that will work best for your skin; they often come in various textures like a milk, cream, balm or facial wash.

You should follow your cleanser with a toner. Toners are designed to remove any leftover impurities which your cleanser may not have picked up. There are toners for specific skin types, created with a variety of ingredients, so don’t just choose any old type!

One of the final steps should be to moisturise; even if you have oily skin. Hydrating your skin through a moisturiser can ensure your skin remains healthy. You may want to consider a serum or eye cream to finish with.

It is worth noting that moisturiser is designed to sit on the surface of your skin and protect it from external elements. Serum, on the other hand, sinks right into your skin for extra treatment.

Protecting your skin

You don’t have to be on holiday or in direct sunlight to wear SPF. Our skin is almost always exposed to some sort of UV, even if it’s cloudy outside. By wearing some kind of sunscreen, even if it’s in your makeup, you’re protecting your skin from a multitude of things, such as skin discolouration and appearance of red veins or blotchiness.

Wearing SPF will also slow down wrinkles and stop your skin from prematurely ageing.

Your makeup and fragrance routine

Once you’ve achieved glowing, healthy skin, it’s important to incorporate the rest of your beauty regime. When it comes to applying makeup, consider investing in a primer that is designed for your particular skin condition. Makeup primers are designed to reduce redness, diminish pores or create a matte or dewy finish.

Also, as mentioned earlier, look for foundation that has SPF in it; a layer of foundation alone is simply not enough to protect your skin.

Wearing fragrance is the perfect finish to your beauty regime; but did you know there’s a skill to wearing it properly? Tips from beauty experts have revealed that you should never rub your wrists together after spraying perfume, as this creates friction and heat which can change the scent.

It’s also interesting to note that perfume doesn’t last long on dry skin; even more reason to look after your skin with the right products!

Whatever you do, don’t cover up your perfume with your clothes; target areas like your neck, wrist or inner elbow if you’re wearing short sleeves.

So, now you have a better idea of skincare, makeup and even fragrance, hopefully you can start to put together the perfect beauty regime that works for you.

These days (and particularly with the bout of fantastic weather we've been having), we're all conscious of protecting our skin in the sunshine.

Skin cancer is the highest form of cancer in Ireland, so it goes without saying, that delicate Irish skin (skin that burns in the sun, freckles and is pale in colour) needs protection in the form of the right sun cream.

Though of course, there are, as we know, benefits that we all get from exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. UV rays help the body produce vitamin D and natural vitamin C is always a great thing, but too much exposure means an increased risk of developing skin cancer.

Actress Nicole Kidman is one public figure that has translucent skin very similar to our own alabaster hue, but being that she's Australian, she says she's always been aware of the need to protect skin if you're going to be outside enjoying sun, sea and sand for prolonged periods.

A post shared by Nicole Kidman (@nicolekidman) on

"We’re beach people. We love swimming in the ocean. We also love camping, and we may go glamping,” Kidman told People, referring to her family of four, husband Keith Urban and daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.

But as well as being an ambassador for Neutrogena and advocating for sun safety in her own personal day-to-day life, she says their another key reason she now warns and urges her own kids to make use of that sun cream

A post shared by Nicole Kidman (@nicolekidman) on

She explains that long before the higher SPF's came on the market when she was very young – and in Australia, you can get protection of up to SPF 100 – she couldn't be as active outdoors as she would have liked, for fear her skin would get damaged.

"I’m passionate about it because for a lot of my childhood I couldn’t be as outdoorsy or sporty as I would have liked,” Kidman continued.

“Raising two little girls, I want them to be active, yet I want to be a responsible mother and protect their skin so they thank me when they’re older.”

"For me, growing up sunscreens had not been revolutionized in the sense that you wore thick white zinc cream to protect yourself. But now there’s sheer zinc that’s not sticky when you put it on. Now that there are products that let you do the things you want to do, anything is possible," she added.

By now, the snowy miserable weather is an (almost) distant memory.

We're dreaming of sandy beaches, rum cocktails and sun kissed skin.

So, if like us, you have already booked a summer holiday (has to be done), you may want to listen closely.

Laying under the burning sun is one of the best feelings, but you know what doesn't feel great? Sun burn!

And while we know that SPF is an absolute necessity, we usually bloody hate putting it on.

However, we have discovered the most delicious range of sun products, that we need to tell you about.

NUXE sun products will transport you straight to a tropical wonderland with just one sniff – seriously.

The range includes so many wonderful products, so there's something for everyone.

I personally use the 'Milky Spray for face and body' because it has a factor 50, so I won't burn my porcelain skin.

It's also water resistant and alcohol free, so you don't get that horrid stingy sensation in your eyes when you apply it!

Its addictive fragrance, a blend of Sweet Orange, Tahitian Gardenia and Vanilla, leaves a unique signature scent on the skin.

Honestly, it is my FAVOURITE sun cream on the market, and I'm not just saying that!

There are also so many other gorge goodies in the range, from hair sprays and after sun to water scents and self tan.

Every sun-filled box ticked. You're welcome.

New season, new make-up trends, new wardrobe… and a new set of hard conditions for our skin.

Let's be honest, Irish winters can be harsh – and we're not talking about the cold, rain and wind – but they dry and dull skin that can result from it.

Sporting a dry, chapped face is never a good look, but with these few simple tips, your face will be glowing all winter long:

You're using your regular moisturiser

It's time to bring in the heavyweights. A winter beauty kit isn't complete without an industrial strength moisturiser.

You will need a good day-time moisturiser and an even richer one for night-time. Heavy moisturiser is useful because it restores the hydration that is lost on the outer layer of skin.

Leaving out SPF

Just because the sun doesn't shine through the clouds during winter months doesn't mean the UV rays aren't as intense – yep, they still knock around during the winter. Make sure you still use a SPF.

Sunscreen prevents not only sun burn but wrinkles, age spots, and of course, skin cancer. Look out for a moisturiser with a built in SPF to make your beauty routine even handier.

Over-exfoliating

Exfoliating is a great way to get rid of dead skin cells, but over-doing it in winter does more harm than good.

Just tone down on the peels and scrubs during these months as you're in risk of stripping away your natural oils. Instead, use a hot face cloth or cleanser to remove dead skin cells.

Not drinking enough water

You knew this was coming! But it's so essential for your skin and your body to stock up on some H2O during the cold months.

Drinking at least eight glasses of water will rehydrate your skin and stop any puffiness you might experience once the chilly weather strikes. Also be aware that coffee and alcohol can dry out your skin too.

Staying in a hot shower

We know it's tempting to stay in a hot shower when it's freezing outside, but after about 15 minutes the heat begins to strip away your skin's lipid layer (a complex of fatty acids that holds in precious moisture).

Turn the temperature down as much as you can or shorten your shower time. Your water bill will thank you anyway.

The sun has been shining a lot recently in Ireland and we are all loving it. As much as we all love to get a tan, we need to remember to apply sun cream regularly because the sun can be very damaging to our skin and health.

To help you save on Sun care this summer, Boots are offering half price Soltan 5* UVA sun protection products from 19th March – 2nd September*, helping you to enjoy the sun safely for less.

We caught up with Boots Sun care Expert, Clare O’Connor to get the full low down on how to protect our skin and still look gorgeous.
