Saoirse Ronan

We have always loved Soairse Ronan's effortlessly chic style.

Her eclectic outfits never look OTT and she loves to keep her hair and makeup minimal and elegant.

Never has her personal style been more on show than at the BAFTA's earlier this week, where she donned a strapless floral gown and statement necklace.

To offset the intricate detail of the outfit, the Brooklyn actress opted for simple make-up and a tousled, casual ponytail to counterbalance the dress.

And it totally worked.

Saoirse topped the best dressed lists of the night, while we were left pining after her simple yet effective hair do.

The look is achieved by curling the hair with a wand before brushing through. After adding texturising products, the hair is pulled apart by the fingers and pulled back into a loose, messy ponytail.

Even more texture is added by teasing the pony and pulling at the hair.

Perfect for daytime or night, watch the super easy tutorial below:

Yet another famous actress is set to appear in a music video for Irish sensation Hozier.

Yep, the 25-year-old singer has the uber-talented Oscar-nominated actress Saorise Ronan guest-starring in his upcoming music video for Cherry Wine.

With all the proceeds for the video going to victims of domestic abuse, the video will star Saoirse in the throes of a terrible, hurtful relationship.

And according to the Irish Independent, Hozier is delighted to have a fellow Irish talent on board for the single.

"I’m honoured to be joined by Saoirse Ronan, Dearbhla Walsh and Moe Dunford in spreading awareness on this issue.

"Domestic violence is an ongoing issue in our society, the statistics of which are shocking and the effects of which damage whole families, communities and span generations," he said.

"With the song Cherry Wine, I tried to get across the difficulty of coming to terms with and facing up to domestic violence and the dynamic of an abusive relationship."

Saoirse too seems ecstatic to be on board.

"The song has always been one of my favourite tracks on his album. I hope through the video and song we can shine light on the issue and complexity of domestic abuse and in doing so help those caught up in the cycle of domestic violence."

We can't wait to see this one.

Every year Vanity Fair treats us to it's Hollywood issue and calls in the top stars to feature on it's extended front cover.

The issue tends to come out just in time for the Oscars and usually features a number of the nominees for the top awards pictured all together by renowned fashion photographer Annie Liebovitz.

This years issue comes at an awkward time as rumblings of diversity issues are rippling through the film industry and the Academy Awards have vowed to make historic changes to the prestigious awards ceremony to tackle the problems.

In an interesting move, editors decided to features only women on this year's cover and our very own Saoirse Ronan made the cut.

Featured among the likes of relative newcomers Alicia Vikander and Brie Larson, also snapped are cinema stalwarts such as Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren.

The main front cover of the issue went to Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence alongside Cate Blanchett, Viola Davis and Jane Fonda.

Saorise is up for the award of Best Actress at this years ceremony for her turn in the film, Brooklyn.

Even though we will probably never go to a ball or award ceremony, a girl can still dream about wearing a floaty, silk dress and sparkly shoes.

Well, scratch the floaty dresses because last night's SAG Awards were all about being skin-tight, cut-out and sexy.

Yep, the girls were out to impress on the red carpet last night, and while there were many style disasters (as always), these ladies got it just right.

Saoirse Ronan had a pretty random question put to her by W Magazine but she totally went with it in this pretty adorable video.

The 21-year-old Carlow actress was asked to name her favourite sex scene in a film and then went on to describe the clip in hilarious detail.

The Brooklyn actress totally owned it though as she described a comedic scene been Kristin Wiig and Will Forte in 2010 comedy film MacGruber.

"I think it's wonderful," said Saoirse as she dons an inexplicable peroxide blonde wig.

"That always makes me laugh."

Saoirse is currently on a pretty exhausting press stint ahead of her nomination at the Academy Awards which takes place next month.

Watch the exact scene she is describing below:

It's been an amazing day for Irish film after a slew of Oscar nominations for both Room and Brooklyn, and actress Saoirse Ronan says the whole experience has been a "dream."

The Carlow native scooped a Best Actress nomination today for her role as Eilis in Brooklyn, after missing out on a Golden Globe win last Sunday night.

"When we made Brooklyn, we had no idea of what was to come," the 21-year-old said in a statement this evening.

"It is the most personal film I have ever done, the hardest one too. I am honoured to represent this film with my friends – John, Nick, Finola, Yves, Colm, Amanda.

"This has all been a dream. To see how the film has been embraced has been heartwarming.

"Thank you so very much to The Academy – you are a group of people I respect greatly and to be recognised by you means so much."

Despite not being able to pronounce her name, US audiences have definitely fallen for Saoirse's charm in recent months, with a host of appearances on US chat shows during the press circuit for Brooklyn.

Just last night she gave Stephen Colbert a crash course in Irish names, from Tadhg to Caoimhe:

Here's hoping there's no issues for Saoirse's name (it's pronounced like inertia, doncha know) at the Academy Awards next month.

Saoirse Ronan is literally everywhere at the moment.

She has been on one serious press junket this awards season as the Carlow native is expected to be nominated for an Oscar for her turn in Brooklyn.

And she has certainly been reminding everyone that she is most definitely Irish, if her name and accent weren't already giving the game away.

From plugging Dublin beauty salons to giving the gift of Barry's tea, it seems that Saoirse now wants to help Americans nail the perfect Irish accent.

On the Late Show with Stephen Colbert that aired in the States yesterday, Saoirse filled the host in on how NOT to do an Irish accent.

Dispelling stereotypical Irish impersonations, Saoirse advised that the accent should not to get too high-pitched and the sound should be quite "melodic and sing-songey."

She also helped Stephen out with the pronunciation of some very common Irish names such as Caoimhe, Siobhan and Oisin.

During the week there was a lot of irritated Irish people on Twitter after Sky News reporter, Richard Suchet, said Saoirse Ronan was British and claimed her as "one of our own."

Of course, there was a huge outcry on social media, and at first the news reporter didn't back down, getting into a war of words with RTÉ on Twitter:

But, he certainly changed his tune last night as Richard, once again, took to Twitter to apologise for what he said.

In the tweet, he stated: "On Saoirse, I apologise. It came out wrong. I know the UK can't claim her, of course. But the British would love to see her win for Ireland."

Many people retweeted his message, but of course, you can't please everyone:

If the people of the world hadn't heard of Tropical Popical after it got a triple shout-out on The Ellen Show last week, they certainly have now.

Actress Saoirse Ronan couldn't resist name-checking the popular Dublin nail salon on the Golden Globes red carpet in LA this evening, as she recalled the moment she heard about her Best Actress nomination.

"I was getting my nails done in a salon in Dublin and I had no idea the nominations were coming out that day" she told E! host Giuliana Rancic.

"By the time I was doing all the reaction phoners afterwards, I was sitting in the corner of this salon, it's called Tropical Popical, there's lots of palm trees and flamingos, and everyone was getting their nails done and drinking champagne around me."

Speaking about last week's Ellen Show mention, salon owner Andrea Horan told SHEmazing it was a dream come true.

"It feels like it's fake. The fact that she [Saoirse] was actually describing the salon was just amazing. It's gone mental since then, we've had people calling from all over."

Carlow native Saoirse looked absolutely breath-taking in a white Yves Saint Laurent number for her appearance at tonight's awards, showing she's more than able to handle the high stakes of the US awards circuit:

She was at the centre of some geographical controversy this week, as UK channel Sky News claimed her as "one of our own" when annoucning her BAFTA Best Actress nomination.

Presenter Richard Suchet today apologised for any offence caused:

Wishing our gal Saoirse the best of luck this evening!

This week, a Sky News reporter referred to Saoirse Ronan as British and "one of ours."

Now, of course, many people took to social media to share their anger that Saoirse, is indeed Irish, and no, you can't claim her.

RTÉ even got involved, calling out the reporter, Richard Suchet, on what he said.

But Richard hit back at the irritated tweets and revealed, to many surprised users, that he didn't misspeak.

And it didn't end there. Richard really seemed like he wanted to start something:

When will it end?!

Any Irish person knows that we consider a good cup of Barry's Tea to be a bit of a national treasure and it seems that one of our favourite talented exports is sharing this knowledge with the world.

Saoirse Ronan, who is getting ready to hit the Golden Globes this weekend, had a little treat in store for her friends at the Hollywood Foreign Press Office (HEPA).

According to the Irish Independent, the Brooklyn star sent each member of the organisation a box of Barry's Tea along with a personal, handwritten note with each gift. Each box even included hand drawn diagrams on how to create the perfect cuppa.

She is too adorable!

"There is nothing that reminds me of home more than Barry's Tea," said the personalised letters.

"So as a gesture of my sincere gratitude, I wanted to share a piece of my home with you."

The HEPA announced last month that they had nominated the 21-year-old for two Golden Globes this year off the back of her spectacular performance as Eilis in the hit film, Brooklyn.

And it seems that Saorise found a fitting, Irish way to thank them.

The Carlow native has always cited a good cup of Irish tea to uplift her if she ever gets a bout of homesickness.

Once those Hollywood big shots get a sip of a good cup of Barry's, we reckon she has a great shot at a win.

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has been all over the papers this week as she does the press circuit ahead with Brooklyn ahead of awards season.

But unfortunately a few high-profile media outlets still refuse to consider her as 'Irish,' despite her Carlow upbringing and Irish passport.

Sky News made that exact faux-pas today, when discussing the BAFTA Best Actress nomination list, on which Saoirse was included.

"If we look at the leading actress category, I think we can take Saoirse Ronan as one of ours," one presenter said, also referencing (actual British person) Dame Maggie Smith.

"She's in Brooklyn, she's nominated."

German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender was another star noted as British later in the report, to really mess things up.

Hmmmm. Needless to say, Twitter went into overdrive after the unfortunate comments:

Barely a month ago, the same problem befell Saoirse, Michael and Colin Farrell as they were all nominated under 'Best British Actor/Actress' categories at the London Critics' Circle Awards.

Anyone need a map? It sounds like it…
