pippa o’connor

Between work, college and relationships, women in their 20s are constantly on the go, and our health and wellbeing definitely pay the price for it.

And while some are pros at reading the signs and tending to their body's needs, model and businesswoman, Pippa O'Connor definitely wasn't one of them… until now.

"I wouldn't have in my 20s. Not in my 20s; not on my radar. Never!" Pippa told us while chatting exclusively with SHEmazing! today.

Happy birthday to you @niamhdoherty #vgorge #vglam #icant

As ambassador for Sona’s Future Proof Your Health campaignPippa, who suffers from low iron levels, is keen to remind young women how important it is to take care of their health in their youth instead of dismissing the need to protect their future selves.

"You can’t do everything you do and not feel well.  If you’re not feeling well, you’re no good to anyone else,” she said.

"It’s all about how you feel inside. You need to feel good and strong," she insisted. "We all have such busy lives. It is so important to look after yourself."

And while the uber-popular blogger swears by a healthier approach nowadays, she knows she wasn't as mindful during the height of her modelling career – something she is trying to make up for now.

"I have to feel well. I’m on the go, so it’s really important for me to take my multivitamin because life is busy. Take one with your breakfast, and you’re done.”

Pippa, who recently gave birth to her second child, acknowledges that her past mind-set is by no means unique to her, and is eager for young women to take care of their health now as protection against the future.

"Do it, get in the habit and if you forget, start again.”

You heard her, ladies.

We struggle to make it through the day without fantasising about our beds, so hats off to Pippa O'Connor who is back to work just one month after welcoming her second baby!

And that's not all – it looks like the hugely popular beauty blogger is also preparing for a very exciting project.

Pippa shared a picture on Snapchat yesterday where she said she hoped baby Louis would stay asleep long enough for her to finish a meeting, so obviously our detective hats went straight on. (Natch.)

Teasing at the new venture, the mum-of-two seems to be super excited about the coming months.

“We’re launching a new business in September (I’m bursting about it!!) with lots of other projects planned from September onwards. It’s set to be a crazy autumn/winter but I cannot wait. I’m really really excited for it all.”

Talking about becoming a mum for the second time on her blog, Pippa said she has noticed some big differences from her first few weeks with son, Ollie.

“So there were definitely days when I was exhausted and I didn’t ‘enjoy every moment’ but looking back now, those spells really are so short-lived. Before I knew it he was 1, then 2 and now 3 years old – all in the blink of an eye.”

But she has definitely learned from her experience the first time round and now takes a much more relaxed approach.

“This time around, I’m 100 percent more relaxed. I’m a laidback person anyway but now if Louis wants to feed around the clock or we’ve had a crap night’s sleep, I don’t dwell on it or let it get to me."

"I’m just going with the flow and actually now I’m enjoying every day with him because I truly know that this tiny magical stage goes scarily fast," she added.

Like the down-to-earth Pippa we know and love, she admits it's not always easy but it's worth it, explaining: "Yeah I’m knackered most days and noticing more wrinkles but it’s all good!”

Between her adorable Instagram pictures of her two boys and this exciting new business, she has us GRIPPED!

If you feel yourself coming over all broody after feasting your eyes on Pippa O'Connor's latest photo, don't worry because you're definitely not alone.

Pippa, who gave birth to baby Louis this week, has shared a stunning black and white shot of her newborn on Instagram, and we are falling all over each other here at SHEmazing! HQ.

With their faces touching, the stunning shot is giving us ALL the feels this afternoon.

"No feeling like it in the world," wrote Pippa in her caption. "That smell that you wish you could bottle and the feeling of the softest skin you've ever touched."

Telling fans and followers that she can't get enough of the family's newest arrival, the popular model and blogger finished: "Taking in every moment of Louis."

Pippa's upload has clocked up a whopping 20,000 likes since its upload last night, and her followers have wasted no time joining us in the gush-stakes.

"Awh so beautiful, congratulations," wrote one fan of the mum-of-two. "It's the best feeling in the world enjoy every second, would love mine all over again xxx"

Excuse us while we continue to coo over this one…

The Image Business Of Beauty Awards: a glittering gala black tie dinner event held last night at Dublin’s swish DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel.

Hosted by the always dapper Darren Kennedy, in attendance were 500 industry professionals.

Suffice to say then that it’s a date in the diary that most eight months’ pregnant women would dread.

Not so for Pippa O’Connor, however, who is expecting her second child with her TV presenter husband Brian Ormond.

The 31-year-old, walked away with the award for Best Irish Beauty Blogger – and looked all sorts of oh-so-amazing in the process.

Wearing a slinky black dress with lace detail and studded orange Louboutins, Ms O’Connor – already mum to three-year-old Ollie – truly turned heads.

In fact, we dare say she hardly looks pregnant at all – never mind being on the verge of giving birth.

The former model recently enjoyed a romantic babymoon with her husband of five years: the duo hit Paris for a weekend break earlier this month. Making sure to hit the likes of the Eiffel Tower, Pippa said she “loved every minute,” of the trip.

And taking to her popular blog, pippa.ie, the Kildare-native said last month that she was “starting to feel” more pregnant.

“I’m feeling much bigger with a proper bump now!” she wrote. “I’m starting to get a little uncomfortable some days – just with back pain and aches.”

More recently she revealed that clothes that fitted her “only a week or 2 ago all of a sudden don’t now- the rapid growth at the moment is crazy”.

What an amazing few days in #paris with @brianormondtv loved every minute of it- such a treat. Memories to treasure

She continued: “Baby is definitely getting big and strong each day – the kicks are so intense now and sometimes stop me in my tracks they’re that hard.”

The third annual Image Business Of Beauty Awards were held in association with Imedeen, Colgate and Boots, and recognised Ireland’s best beauty therapists and hairdressers as well as the country’s standout hair salons, beauty salons and skincare clinics.

Salon winners on the night included Waxperts; Tropical Popical, and Mimi’s Beauty Room.

Pippa O'Connor wasn't voted VIP's Most Stylish Woman 2015 for nothing, you know.

The model and expectant mum took to Instagram this morning to show off a very stylish addition to her home décor – an entire wall dedicated to her shoe collection.

"Boy did good," she wrote, thanking her husband Brian Ormond for her new #shoewall:

"Just need a few more walls though."

Is it bad that our own shoe collection would probably fit on one of those shelves and there would still be room to spare?

As for dressing her bump in her usual super-stylish manner, Pippa revealed recently that she was finding maternity style a little simpler with baby number two.

"Bump-wise I definitely feel a bit neater this time," she said, just four months from her due date.

And even after her second child arrives – a baby brother or sister for two-year-old Ollie – Pippa says she won't be relaxing too much in the style stakes.

"I’m lucky, I don’t need to get up and  look presentable in an office," she told the Irish Examiner.

"If I want to say at home in my pajamas for a month, then I can do that but I probably won’t disappear for too long."

They're one of the most popular couples in the country: Pippa O'Connor and Brian Ormond.

Already parents to the adorable two-and-a-half year old Ollie, it has now been announced that they are expecting their second child.

Taking to her Twitter account this evening, where she boosts some 52,500 followers, she told her delighted fans that there were "exciting," and "busy" times head. "Over the moon," she added.

The 30-year-old also included an adorable snap of her toddler son: Ollie can be seen sitting in front of his Santa's checklist – already ticked are a toy truck and books… as well as a baby brother/sister.

TV presenter Brian, 34, shared the same photo with his followers, albeit with caption, "You don't ask for much Ollie".

Pippa and Brian married more than four years ago and currently live in Kildare – where the model is originally from.

Coats, scarves, gloves, woollies… winter weather requires a whole lot of extras.

So this year we'll be doing whatever we can to transition some of our summer wardrobe into the colder season, in the hope of saving a few quid while still looking stylish.

Our first port of call for inspiration? Pippa O'Connor, who perfectly demonstrated how a summer dress can get a second life earlier this week.

The model and mum looked stunning at the Connacht Gold Tea Party at House on Leeson St, wearing a gorgeous white-and-navy tunic style dress with gold jewellery.

Ensuring she was ready to brave the cold outside, Pippa teamed the dress with black tights and black velvet ankle boots, making it a perfect transitional look.

In keeping with the summery vibes, guests were treated to an afternoon tea of sandwiches, sweet bites, freshly buttered scones and gold-themed cocktails.

Sounds like our kind of event…

For Pippa O’Connor, whose mother Louise died unexpectedly last October, one of her favourite memories is going into Dublin city centre from their home in Kildare for a stroll and a look around the shops together.

“Soaking up that atmosphere and surrounding yourself with all the activity that the city brings was always a highlight for me,” she explains from a plush suite at the Westbury hotel off Grafton Street, where she is in conversation with SHEmazing! for the launch of the Dublin Fashion Festival.

“Dublin holds its own versus the likes of New York, London, Milan or Paris,” she adds.

“I’ve travelled to lots of interesting places as a model – I’ve done the whole back-packing around south-east Asia in my early 20s thing – I’ve seen different places and how men and women dress differently in different parts of the world.

"And Dublin is as good as it gets when it comes to fashion.”

It’s high praise indeed from a woman whose styling knowledge and skills are currently in hot demand: her Pippa’s Fashion Factory events regularly attract hundreds of women, all eager to lap up the 30-year-old’s insider knowledge, top tips and expertise.

That and she scooped the Most Stylist title at this year's VIP Style Awards.

Not that such know-how necessarily came easily: Ms O’Connor says she made her fair share of fashion mishaps over the years.

“I’ve been modelling for more than a decade,” she explains, “so there are plenty of dire photographs of me knocking around online.

“In fact, whatever you do, don’t Google ‘Pippa O’Connor 2005’ or you’ll be met with some fairly horrific sights,” she laughs. “I’ve made all the usual errors: too short, too shiny, too much tan, too much makeup, bad hair extensions – the works.”

In fact, and now sporting sexy shoulder-length blonde waves, she reckons extensions are the average young Irish woman’s worst faux pas.

“I don’t mind hair extensions per say for volume or fullness or whatever,” she explains, “but that very OTT look, with mermaid curls down to your bum? No thanks – it’s a very dated look if nothing else."

Otherwise she reckons that finding clothes that fit well, and dressing for your own body shape goes a long way.

“If your bra doesn’t fit – that knocks off the rest of the outfit. So get your boobs measured!"

Ladies!! When you don't wanna wash your hair and it's needs a lift ….try this…

The Dublin Fashion Festival, of which Pippa is the face of for 2015, is now in its sixth year.

Taking place from Monday September 7 until Sunday September 13, it involves more than 200 retailers, restaurants, bars and hotels – all of which are coming together to create one of the city centre’s liveliest events.

Previous famous faces to front the festival include Laura Whitmore, Angela Scanlon and Amanda Byram.

“I remember seeing Laura and Angela getting involved in the Dublin Fashion Festival in previous years and thinking ‘oh I’d love to do that some day,’ so I’m genuinely ecstatic to be on board,” she explains.

“The shops in Dublin are brilliant – I was trying to source a piece recently in London and in the end I found it on my doorstep in Dublin. It was here all along! But that just proves that although it’s a small city – it packs a lot of fashion punch.

“We were launching the Fashion Festival earlier today around the Castle Market area and there is such a wealth of hidden-gem shops there. George’s Street Arcade is brilliant – one of the DFF’s events is a show there which I just can’t wait to see.”

Pippa recently returned from a trip away to California with her husband, TV presenter Brian Ormond, and toddler son Ollie. And she admits to being really taken with the area.

“We were in Calabasas – where all the Kardashians and Jenners live – and wow, is it amazing!” she says. “I would definitely love to live over there at some point, but I’d have to move for the right gig or opportunity.

"I won’t just be booking myself on the next flight without a firm poa.”

And why would she – her Fashion Factory events continue to go from strength to strength, while her hugely popular website, Pippa.ie, attracts hoards of women looking for styling and beauty advice.

This summer, she also released her first product – Pippa’s Palette – a massively successful collection of nude eyeshadows.

She's hopeful though that bigger and better is still to come.

“I have some very specific projects in the pipelines – it’s all within fashion – and I can’t wait to pursue it all. And my attitude is, ‘if you don’t try you don’t know’. If I don’t give these things a go, someone else will."

Indeed, Pippa hints that she’s already turned her hand to designing. “Yes, I sketch out ideas for clothing and accessories – my mind has worked like that for years.

"I’m always thinking of something new, or a new look or a new way of presenting a current trend.

"It’s a passion of mine definitely.”

In the meantime, she’ll be kept busy with the Dublin Fashion Festival – as part of the event she'll also present a live fashion show on Friday September 11 – not to mention absorbing the sights and sounds of her favourite city.

“I feel like Dublin’s come back into it’s own after the recession," Pippa states. "There’s a bit of bounce back now; it’s beginning to feel like its old self again.

“Just hopefully with fewer hair extensions!” she adds with a smile.

Pippa O'Connor-Ormond has been celebrating this week after she was named Most Stylish Woman 2015 at the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards on Friday night.

Dressed in a stunning blush pink Alice and Olivia gown with a plunging neckline, Pippa looked every bit the style queen. However not everyone was happy with her look, and Pippa has revealed that she received a number negative comments about her weight after posting some pictures from the evening on her social media accounts.

"Ninety-nine per cent of the comments were great and so on but a few comments were,’Oh my God, way too thin’ or ‘eat a burger’”, the mum-of-one revealed to The Irish Sun.

The naturally slim model was taken aback by the needless comments, and says she feels skinny shaming someone is just as hurtful as fat shaming them. "I just thought to myself, ‘That’s the height of ignorance. You wouldn’t say to someone, ‘You’re a few stone overweight, so lay off the burgers’ To me, it’s as insulting."

Pippa added she has no time for people making assumptions about her weight or health. "Personally, because I’m flat chested, it makes me look even slimmer… You’ve no idea what someone does or doesn’t do. That could just be the way someone is and that’s the way I am," she said.

The hurtful comments came just days after actress Amy Huberman deleted a photo from her Instagram account after receiving backlash from commenters about her weight, something which Pippa says struck a chord with her. "I just thought when I saw the picture of Amy, we all need to just think before we speak. I just think it’s rude. It’s bad to other women," she explained.

During her VIP Style Awards acceptance speech, Pippa spoke about the recent death of her mum Louise, who would have celebrated her birthday the day after the ceremony.

Louise passed away unexpectedly last year, leaving behind a devastated Pippa, her brother Cian and sister Susannah.

"I could just imagine my Mum today- on what would have been her birthday," Pippa wrote on her website on Saturday. "She would have been thrilled for me. So it’s a bittersweet day today."

A great pair of skinny jeans can totally revamp your wardrobe, so it's worth shopping around for the perfect fit.

We're always keeping an eye out for new styles, and when we saw Freddy jeans popping up on on our social media feeds again and again over the last few weeks, we knew we had to check them out.

With a host of celebrity fans in the US including Eva Longoria, Lea Michelle and Hayden Panettiere, this Italian brand already has a cult following.

Converts on this side of the pond include Pippa O'Connor, Rosanna Davison and Una Foden, and that's just for starters.

So what's the attraction? Well, every pair of these magical skinnies is enhanced with WR.UP technology, specially designed to lift and shape your curves.

Danielle McCrossan of Coco Boutique in Dublin is one of the main stockists of the full Freddy range – which includes jeans, leather-look skinnies, trainers and workout gear – and she says they're perfect for almost every shape. "If you have a flat bum, the jeans will give you that great curve, and if you're already curvy they'll enhance what you have," she explains.

As for the price, Freddy jeans might be a celebrity favourite but they don't come with an A-list price tag.

"The starting price is €79.90 and they go up from there," says Danielle. "We've been stocking the jeans for four months and we're currently selling around 50 pairs a week, which is huge for a boutique."

As well as the obvious advantages of enhancing your natural curves, the jeans also come in a range of washes, fits and lengths, which means you can easily find the perfect pair for you. "One of our most popular styles for petite girls is the 7/8 length skinnies, which have a shorter leg, so you don't need to get them taken up or cut and ruin their overall fit," says Danielle.

As well as being available from Coco Boutique on Clarendon St, Dublin, the Freddy range can also be purchased online at freddy.ie, though if it's your first pair Danielle recommends coming into the store to ensure you get the perfect fit. "There's quite a wide range so it's handy to come in and try them on in store where you can ask our advice," she says.

We can't wait to give them a go!

The annual CMRF Crumlin Fundraising Ball is getting the gold treatment this year!

This year's ball will celebrate 50 years of fundraising for Our Lady's Children's Hospital and the National Children's Research Centre, and will have a gold theme in honour of the landmark anniversary.

Irish model and CMRF Crumlin ambassador Pippa O'Connor was on hand to launch the ball, which will take place on Saturday March 14th at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin. Pippa was joined by junior ambassadors Alicja and Marek Doyle for the proceedings – aren't they adorable?!

One sick child is admitted to Our Lady's Children's Hospital every four minutes, totaling 130,000 children per year. The annual CMRF Ball not only raises money for much-needed improvement in facilities and equipment, but also for the ground-breaking research that goes toward helping each and every child that passes through the hospital's doors.

CMRF Crumlin needs to raise €12 million each year to help the hospital and the National Children's Research Centre to continue in their valuable work.

Speaking at the launch, Pippa said she was delighted to be taking part. "It’s only since becoming a mum that I truly appreciate the work that CMRF Crumlin do on behalf of the children of Ireland," she said. "The Gold Ball is a celebration of the dedication and commitment of the organisation to ensuring that children have the very best paediatric care available."
