Rihanna has reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform at the Superbowl Half-Time show to show her solidarity with former NFL star and 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, US media reports.

She allegedly is in total disagreement with the NFL's methods, such as their stalled divisive policy regarding the national anthem.

Kaepernick gained infamy after choosing to kneel during the US national anthem last year, and became the first of numerous NFL stars to protest race inequality and police brutality in America, and is now thr face of Nike's controversial ad campaign.

He has not played in the NFL since early 2017 and is now embroiled in a lawsuit with the organisation- claiming team owners have shunned him for his activism. He has claimed that his political stances have resulted in his total ostracisation, despite race relations in the US currently being far from ideal.

The US media is claiming that pop superstar, fashion icon and general Badass Female Rihanna was the first choice for the half-time show, which the likes of Lady Gaga, Prince, Beyoncé and Michael Jackson have headlined.

"CBS and the NFL reached out to Rihanna first, who after thinking about the offer, decided to pass due to the NFL and the situation regarding players kneeling."

Judging by the reactions on Twitter, fans are standing by her side in her decision to protest the NFL’s methods, though many are divided in their opinions.

Her fans continue to stan, and appear to understand the global superstar's reasons.

Maroon 5 have since been chosen as Plan B for the show, which takes place in Atlanta next year.

Cardi B is apparently the favourite to be their guest star, and there are also claims stating that Pink turned the chance down when talks dragged on for too long.

Kween Rih has spoken.

Host of the Late Late Show James Corden has seen his career go from strength to strength of late.

After a move to the states to take over the job of hosting one of their most popular late night talk shows, he managed to win over plenty of viewers with his humour. Car pool Karaoke has seen him take on some absolutely hilarious tunes and we got to hear Jennifer Hudson give the most ridiculous live performance, ever.

However, obviously James is keen to make sure he doesn't get pigeon-holed with his latest career venture.

He decided that he wanted to see what all the football fuss was about in the states and managed to get himself onto the pitch with the Oakland Raiders team.

The team have a crowd of fans that are notorious hard to please as far as American football goes, but James seemed eager to rise to the challenge.

He also spent some time trying to get on their good side as he joined the fans in one of their favourite pre-match activities, tail-gating.

This is essentially a lot of food and drinks enjoyed in a car park type setting. James did not arrive empty handed though, he brought his own snacks. Serrano ham to be exact, because he's fancy.

National Football League player Michael Sam has thanked One Direction star Harry Styles for his support after he performed in his jersey.

Harry was singing on stage in St Louis, Missouri, when he wore Michael's Rams blue and yellow shirt with his name and number on the back.

When Michael, who became the first openly gay man drafted into the NFL, caught wind of what Harry was wearing, he hit Twitter to thank him for his support.

The St. Louis Rams also tweeted a shot of Harry wearing the jersey on stage at the band's show.

Earlier this week, a US TV outlet was forced to release a statement saying it regretted a controversial report that discussed the showering habits of Michael and whether he was avoiding the shower when teammates were present.

Back in March, the 24-year-old broke down in tears as he was told he had been drafted to the St Louis Rams in the NFL draft, becoming the first openly gay player in the league’s history.
