Rihanna is a woman of many talents; a singer, fashion designer, business woman, and an all-round badass chick – but her latest venture is probably the most rewarding.

The Grammy-winning singer announced yesterday that she's launching a global scholarship program through her nonprofit charity, the Clara Lionel Foundation, to help students pay for college and university.

According to the singer, the new program will support citizens or natives of Brazil, Cuba, Barbados, Haiti, Grenada, Guyana and Jamaica in achieving higher education in the US.

Speaking to USA Today, Ri said: "To be able to give the gift of an education is actually an honour."

"Higher education will help provide perspective, opportunities, and learning to a group of kids who really deserve it. I am thrilled to be able to do this."

Rihanna launched the Clara Lionel Foundation back in 2012, and it was created and named after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.

We think this is such a kind and thoughtful thing to do!

Harry Styles' hair became a bit of a 'thing' when he began to grow it, and you either ended up loving or hating it.

Well, now you don't have to choose because his long and flowing locks are GONE!

Yep, the singer cut off his hair for charity – which we think is a pretty great reason.

The One Direction star took to Instagram to show off what was left behind:

Whoops. #Littleprincesstrust

The 22-year-old has donated his precious locks to the Little Princess Trust charity, which provides real hair wigs for children who suffer hair loss due to cancer treatment.

Now we just can't wait until the big reveal!

Root out your brightest dress and boldest red lipstick, because this year's CMRF Gala Ball has a very special theme.

TV3's Karen Koster was all smiles yesterday as she launched the 2016 CMRF event – a Mad Hatter's Ball, taking place on March 5 at the Hilton Doubletree Hotel in Dublin.

As well as being a great (and uber-glam) night out, proceeds from ticket sales and other activities on the night will all go toward the provision of extremely valuable resources at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.

This year the aim is to raise in excess of €175,000 for The No. 10 Fund, a fundraising initiative established by Irish rugby stars Johnny Sexton and Ronan O’Gara late last year. The main aim of the fund is to help build a new cardiac day unit at the hospital, something which is expected to cost in the region of €750,000.

As well as buying a ticket, there will be plenty of ways for attendees at the ball to show their support, including a Diamond Raffle to win a €5,000 voucher for Cullen & Co jewellers, a Silent Auction via text for some seriously luxurious prizes, a raffle at each table and a Live Auction.

Karen, who is currently pregnant with her second child, says becoming a mum has highlighted the importance of this cause to her in a huge way.

"Since becoming a mum to Finn last year, and now with another baby on the way next month, I truly appreciate the work that CMRF Crumlin do on behalf of sick children in Ireland," she explained.

Tickets for the CMRF Crumlin Mad Hatter’s Fundraiser Ball are €175 per person, and are available online, by contacting Bebhinn O'Toole on 01 7096224 or by emailing botoole@cmrf.org.

More information on the event and the great cause it supports can be found on the CMRF Crumlin website.

Whether you love Christmas, or dislike it, you will ALWAYS have a little bop to Christmas FM when it comes on in the car, especially when it's your fave festive tune.

And in the festive season just gone, Christmas FM made a lot of people happy, and not just the ones dancing along in the back seat.

The volunteer radio station made over a quarter of a million Euro in their fund raising efforts last year; nearly double of what it has made in years gone by.

The stations nominated charity is Make-A-Wish Ireland, who received €265,000 this week.

Most of the money raised was made on 'Donation Day', where the radio DJs urged the public to donate what they can. On that day alone, the charity station made a massive €125,000.

“We are completely blown away by the generosity of our listeners this year with over €265,000 donated over the course of the campaign,” station co-founder Garvan Rigby said this week.

She's known as the UK's sweetheart, but things could have turned out very different for Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.

The pop star opened up to Ant and Dec in a one-off ITV documentary, When Ant and Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years of the Prince's Trust.

Cheryl is featured in the documentary and candidly reveals that she could have turned to drugs or a life of crime if it weren't for the dance academy she attended when she was young.

The X Factor judge said, "If I didn't have [my dancing], and I wasn't lucky enough to come to dance classes or had that discipline instilled in me, I could have gone anywhere.

"I could have been a drug addict, I could have been in prison. Any route could have happened had I not had have this opportunity."

The hitmaker became an ambassador for the Prince's Trust in 2011 and since then she has set up two sister charities that help support disadvantaged kids in her hometown.

We all wish we could give a little more to people in need, especially at this time of the year. Well, SPAR is now making it that little bit easier for all of us.

Along with the National Children’s Hospital, SPAR is supporting the charity with a fun and handy campaign – The Twitter Tree.

The convenience store is asking the public to simply tweet the hashtag #UnderTheTree in order to light up a bulb on its Christmas tree. And once all the bulbs are lit, SPAR will donate €20,000 to the National Children’s Hospital. Amazing, right?!

And as well as that, whenever you purchase a SPAR own-brand product, a donation is made to the hospital. The campaign ran last year too and as you can imagine, the donation helped out the hospital and the kids for the whole year round.

Right now, there are 395 lights left to be lit up! And only you can change that. As SPAR says, “Your tweet will help make Christmas brighter.”

So, tweet away, ladies! #UnderTheTree at SPAR!

We often see older people sit in the coffee shop or walking along the street on their own, and we have to admit, it makes us a little sad.

But something that really tugged on our heartstrings was this video by ALONE, an agency working with those who have difficulties with loneliness, poverty, ill health or homelessness.

One man describes a Christmas memory of seeing Santa when he was a young boy, and another woman tells her favourite parts of Christmas day.

It's truly a lovely video and one that needs to be watched.

Christmas is the season of giving, but it's not just about buying smellies for your mum or socks for your dad.

At this time of year it's nice to give back a little too, and ARC Cancer Support are making it extra easy to help them raise some much-needed funds.

If you've happened to be in St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre this week, you may have noticed a very special addition on the first floor floor – the blue ARC Tree of Hope.

As well as admiring the gorgeous tree, shoppers are encouraged to buy an ARC bauble for just €5, which can be taken home or hung on the tree. Each bauble has space for you to write a personal message of hope and love – be it for a loved one who is in need of a kind word, or in memory of someone who has passed away.

On the 13th of this month, an official lighting ceremony will take place, with the Dublin Gospel Choir on hand to provide some festive entertainment and Aslan frontman Christ Dignam there to light the tree.

ARC hopes to raise €20,000 from this year's festive initiative, with funds going towards counselling and complementary services for those with cancer and their loved ones.

For more information, head along to St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre or follow ARC on Facebook and Twitter.

Irish jewellery designer Margaret O'Rourke is the creative mind behind MoMuse, a treasure trove of gold and sparkle in Dublin's Powerscourt Townhouse.

The store is known for its delicate gold pieces, and today Margaret added yet another stunning item to her collection, for a very good cause.

All proceeds from the limited edition 'Hope' Pendant will go directly to Irish suicide and self-harm charity Pieta House.

The gold-filled circular pendant was designed by Margaret with Pieta House's ethos in mind, and includes the simple message of 'hope' which means so much to so many.

"My wish is that this pendant can in turn inspire hope in others too; be it a symbol, a special reminder or simply a sign of support," Margaret said today at the launch of the pendant in MoMuse, attended by a host of Irish stylists and bloggers including Courtney Smith, Ingrid Hoey and Sinéad Burke.

Each 'Hope' pendant retails at €65 and is hand-finished with care by Margaret herself.

The necklace can be worn reversibly, and initials can be engraved on the front or back for an additional cost.

You can purchase yours at MoMuse from today, September 15th, or online here.

Laura Whitmore has become something of a fashion icon over the past few years so it's no surprise that Brown Thomas and the ISPCC chose the MTV presenter to front their annual charity fashion show.

Before today's show kicked off at Dublin's Intercontinental Hotel, we went behind the scenes with Laura to ask her all about her views on bullying, fashion… and Electric Picnic.

The Bray native rocked the show wearing a Peter Pilotto black dress with multi-coloured and lace details, available in Brown Thomas now.

"It was so hard to pick just one dress! I love Brown Thomas because they have so many brands to choose from… but I went for this dress because I fell in love," she explained to SHEmazing!.

When asked what her top picks for the A/W season will be, she told us, "I can't wait to get back into wearing knits, they're so versatile – it doesn't have to be just a thick Aran jumper, you can dress them up or dress them down and they're so comfy."

The 30-year-old star has worked with the ISPCC on previous anti-bullying campaigns, and though she was lucky enough not to have faced bullying as a child, she says children have it a lot tougher these days. "It was a different kind of place back then, we didn't have social media, so when people got bullied, it was on the school grounds," she recalls.

As a hugely successful presenter and model, Laura is no stranger to the spotlight, and she says she can empathise with teens who feel all eyes are on them. "You don't know who you are, you are still finding yourself… so you have all these worries and still, people want to tear you down."

Ms Whitmore admits that she is very comfortable in her own skin as an adult and even though she might come across the odd Twitter troll, she ignores them.

"I'm working so much and constantly busy so if anyone tries to put me down on social media, I don't see it, I ignore it, I'm happy with who I am," she says.

Many girls look up to her as a style icon, but we wanted to know where Laura's influences came from growing up.  "I had many. Music was a big influence; Debbie Harry was a major icon for me, the Olsen twins, Grace Kelly for her sophisticated class… it's a big mix."

The I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here NOW! host also has a very exciting month ahead as she is getting set to launch her first ever jewellery line.

"I teamed up with Daisy jewellery because I have always loved their stuff," she says.

"I sketched all the pieces myself, so they're very personal and true to me… I'm so excited."

The MTV presenter is only home from London for the weekend before jetting off to Australia next week. So what are her plans while she's on home soil? Electric Picnic of course.

"I can't wait to see Blur," she says. "It's going to be a great weekend.

The 30-year-old is a strong advocate of the childrens' helpline service Childline, and urges any child in need to pick up the phone for support.

"If you are being bullied or you feel down, making just one call will change the world for you, it will give you reassurance and comfort," she says.
