He broke our hearts three months ago when he announced that he was engaged to pregnant girlfriend Sophie Hunter, and it looks as though actor Benedict Cumberbatch’s surprises haven’t ended there!

According to reports this weekend, the couple are set to tie the knot TODAY in an intimate ceremony on the Isle of Wight.

Among those rumoured to attend the ceremony, set to be held in an exquisite period house, are Benedict’s co-stars Keira Knightley and Martin Freeman.

In possibly our favourite detail from the big day, it’s believed that Sherlock star Freeman will be Benedict’s best man. How sweet!

Commenting on the couple’s news back in January, an insider said: “The invitations have gone out already, which is very quick. It’s shocked a few people but they want their special day to happen before they have the baby.”

“The details have been sent out in an email rather than a paper invitation as time is of the essence,” the source added.

Benedict and Sophie have known each other for five years, and were reportedly dating for five months before announcing their engagement.

We hope they have a beautiful wedding – they couldn’t have picked a more romantic day for it!

Earlier this week, Benedict Cumberbatch was forced to make an apology after he referred to black actors as ‘coloured’ – sparking outrage online and in the media. The term is considrerd outdated and offensive, which Benedict acknowledged in his apology later that day.

Now, Benedict’s friend and fellow British actor, David Oyelowo has come to his defence, telling The Big Issue that the entire this is ‘nonsensical’: “You only have to look at the point Benedict was making to realise that to accuse him of racism, to accuse him of anything other than a beautiful gesture is absolutely ridiculous and nonsensical.”

The Selma actor went on to say that to brand Benedict’s message as ‘racist’ completely obscured the message he had been trying to make in the first place: “He has no dog in that fight. He is one of the premier white actors, not just in the UK, but in the world. And he has done something truly beautiful in saying this situation isn't right. To attack him for that is so self-defeating. It obscures the message. It saddens me.”

Do you agree with how people reacted to Benedict's words?

The Imitation Game actor and Oscar nominee, Benedict Cumberbatch, is facing serious heat after comments he made during a recent interview.

Benedict appeared on talk-show, Tavis Smiley, when he spoke about diversity in film: “I think as far as coloured actor go, it gets really different in the UK and a lot of my friends have had more opportunities here [the US] than in the UK, and that’s something that needs to change.”

Of course, it wasn’t the actors stance on the diversity in film that has upset people; but his use of the word ‘coloured’. The term is considered to be outdated and one look at Twitter will show that Benedict has caused considerable hurt in his use of it:

The actor is now being called on to apologise, though his rep has yet to comment on the situation.

Update 20:17 – Benedict has issued a statement apologising for his comments, saying:

"I'm devastated to have caused offence by using this outmoded terminology. I offer my sincere apologies. I make no excuse for my being an idiot and know the damage is done. I can only hope this incident will highlight the need for correct usage of terminology that is accurate and inoffensive. The most shaming aspect of this for me is that I was talking about racial inequality in the performing arts in the UK and the need for rapid improvements in our industry when I used the term. I feel the complete fool I am and while I am sorry to have offended people and to learn from my mistakes in such a public manner please be assured I have. I apologise again to anyone who I offended for this thoughtless use of inappropriate language about an issue which affects friends of mine and which I care about deeply."

We all love a bit of Benedict Cumberbatch, there’s no denying that. But we feel things may have gone a little bit too far…

A shop called Poprageous are now selling leggings and a matching top featuring a collage of the Sherlock actor’s face all over them!

Needless to say, the leggings have gone completely viral and we have no doubt many Cumberlovers will be flocking the internet for them.

Would you wear leggings covered in tiny photos of Benedict Cumberbatch’s face?

After days of speculation and rumours, it has finally been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch and his fiancée, Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child together.

A spokesperson for the Sherlock actor confirmed the exciting news to MailOnline, saying: “I am delighted to confirm that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are expecting their first child. They are both over the moon.”

Speculation began when Sophie appeared on the red carpet sporting what many claimed to be a baby bump, as well as making efforts to conceal her stomach with her clutch bag.

The couple announced their engagement in November last year. Congratulations to the couple on this exciting news!

That Benedict Cumberbatch certainly is talented fellow.

We don’t think he should ever try to pursue a dance career, however.

The star was appearing on The Graham Norton Show last night alongside fellow actors Miranda Hart and Timothy Spall, when he was challenged to share his best Beyoncé impression.

Having received a crash course in how to perfect the Crazy In Love strut, the Sherlock star proved himself to be, once again, a legend, by getting up and giving his own rendition.

Let’s just say that Beyoncé need not worry about a British actor stealing her crown any time soon!

We think our personal highlight is his facial expression as he struts his stuff.

Fair play, Benedict. We love you even more now!

We shouldn't laugh but…

A BBC viewer noticed that Benedict Cumberbatch is having some trouble pronouncing the word 'penguins' on an episode of South Pacific and the clip is going viral.

The video has been watched over 250,000 times although we're not sure if it has come to the Sherlock actor's attention as of yet.

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed as the first big name for an exciting new project.

The actor will be voicing the evil tiger Shere Khan in Warner Bros.’ adaptation of The Jungle Book. Playing a man-eating tiger will be an easy task for Benedict – he’s faced worse human villains on Sherlock!

This will be Benedict’s second time working with director Andy Serkis. The pair also worked together on The Hobbit films, in which Benedict voiced the dastardly dragon Smaug. We do agree that he has the perfect voice for a bad-ass dragon or tiger!

The Warner Bros. version of The Jungle Book is not to be confused with the new Disney adaptation, which stars Idris Elba as Shere Khan.

Two Jungle Book films at once… confusing, much?! Our favourite still has to be the original Disney version. All together now, “When you pick a pawpaw, or a prickly pear…”

Sorry ladies to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like that Benedict Cumberbatch is really off the market for good.

Film producer, Rebecca Eaton let slip in an interview today, that the actor may have a new woman in his life.

“That might also explain her (Rebecca Eaton) other job: helping British hottie Benedict Cumberbatch find a new love interest. She wouldn’t say whom the “Sherlock” actor has met, but she said it’s time for all those “Cumberbitches” — the name used by his huge base of female followers — to move on.”

Its ok we’ll just watch some old episodes of Sherlock!

We never though of Benedict Cumberbatch as much of a bad boy – until now!

According to his good friend, Keira Knightley, he once punched a journalist in the arm.

The actress made the comments while talking to Elle magazine, admitting that he lost his temper after a journalist said something rude about her: “When I saw him [Benedict] again, I said, ‘Did you punch a journalist?’ and he was like, ‘I f***ing did’. Everybody needs a friend like that.”

It was said to be film critic, Mark Kermode, who spoke of Keira in a less than pleasant way – sparking anger from the Sherlock actor.

While we normally don’t condone violence, it’s pretty epic that Benedict stuck up for his friend in such a strong way.
