Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been involved in a ‘car chase with paparazzi’ that could’ve had a ‘near catastrophic’ ending, according to multiple reports.

The chase supposedly occurred last night after the couple made their first public appearance following the King’s Coronation earlier this month.

The couple and Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, were attending an awards ceremony in New York that was held by the Ms Foundation for Women.

At the awards ceremony, Markle received the Ms Foundation’s Women of Vision Award, recognising her “global advocacy for women and girls”.

Harry’s spokesperson is said to have released a statement for the couple that reads, “Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi”.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers”.

They closed off by adding, “While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety. Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved”.

There are reports that Harry, Meghan and Doria were being followed by half a dozen vehicles, with many breaking road traffic rules including running red lights, driving on pavements and using their phone while driving.

Photos of the couple and Meghan’s mum in a black SUV have been shared online, as well as them seen later in a taxi cab which was being closely followed by the Police Department.

Omid Scoobie, biographer of the book Finding Freedom based on Harry and Meghan has Tweeted to say, "A source close to the Sussexes say Harry, Meghan and Doria are “understandably shaken but thankful everyone's safe”".

Harry and Meghan stepped away from royal duties in 2020 before they moved to America.

Part of the reason they moved was due to harassment by the media, which the Duke has spoken out about on multiple occasions following the tragic death of his mum, Princess Diana, in Paris, 1997, after her limousine crashed after being pursued by paparazzi.

Maddy Smedley has revealed the gender of her first child following a mix-up during her ultrasound appointment.

The Traitors star has cancelled her gender reveal party after she thought the sonographer accidentally gave away the sex of her unborn child, leaving her to share the news to Instagram instead of hosting a big gathering.

But, fans quickly noticed Maddy's error, and it turns out it was her partner Tom that made a mistake.

Maddy shared a snap of her baby’s scan alongside a card that reads, ‘Congratulations. It’s a Girl!’, to social media.

The actress explained the mistake in the post’s caption, saying, “We were gonna do a reveal with flowers n everything but the sonographer said jus checking her cervix – I completely missed this but Tom heard it!”.

“Lol so we celebrated in the hallway and we ripped open the envelope in da van. Over the moon! It’s a girl”, she added.

Fans were quick to point out that the sonographer would’ve meant they were checking Maddy’s cervix, not her baby’s, so they didn’t let the gender slip.

One fan wrote, “MADDY – it was YOUR cervix! They check because issues could indicate early labour. Bless this! And congrats!!”. "It was YOUR cervix you donut!!", a second fan added.

“Not sure they check the baby’s cervix Maddy? Think they meant yours!”, penned another fan, to which Maddy replied, “Shut the front door. Blaming Tom for this”.

Smedley then took to her Instagram Stories to share the mistake her boyfriend made, “Omg, tom this is your fault”, she revealed.

Maddy and Tom announced they were expecting their first child together at the beginning of May by sharing an emotional video of the 30-year-old telling her mum and sisters the wonderful news.

“Telling my mum and sisters. We can’t wait to meet you! Love you so much already”, she wrote in the caption of the touching post.

Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet have been adjusting their plans for the future after experiencing a heartbreaking loss.

Last month, the former stars of The Only Way Is Essex confirmed that they had suffered a miscarriage with their second child. The engaged couple are already parents to a two-year-old son named Brody.

After experiencing the devastating loss of their child, Georgia and Tommy have now shared that they have put their wedding plans on hold.

In a brand-new episode of Georgia and Tommy: Baby Steps which is set to air tomorrow night (May 18) on ITVBe, the reality stars will go into detail about their decision to postpone, and their plans for the future.

The episode will also showcase the pair trying to come to terms with the loss of their baby, and features Tommy spending some quality one-on-one time with Brody.

Georgia and Tommy first entered into a relationship in 2014, and became firm favourites on the ITV reality show.

They welcomed their first child, Brody, into the world in May 2021. Then, after eight years of dating, Tommy finally proposed to Georgia in February of last year.

Following their son’s arrival, Georgia was very vocal about wanting to expand her family. Tragically, the 31-year-old later confirmed on April 14 that she had suffered a miscarriage.

“Our 12 week scan to be told our baby had not survived & I needed an op…,” Georgia wrote, alongside a black-and-white snap of herself lying on a hospital bed.

“12 weeks of feeling every emotion , hoping & praying but in the end , nothing else we could of done,” she penned.

Georgia continued by writing: “We don’t really have the words to say right now except we are lucky to have amazing family & friends around us .. & most importantly we are blessed to have our beautiful Brody who we couldn’t of got through this without him.”

At the end of her message, the TOWIE star hinted that she and her family needed space to adjust. “We will have the words soon but right now we are taking time for us as a family,” Georgia concluded.

Shaq Manhenga and Tanya Manhenga have opened up about their time on Love Island.

The loved-up couple found romance in the famous villa earlier this year, and the pair claimed fourth place in the series finale.

However, Shaq and Tanya also had their fair share of trials and tribulations in the South African villa. After falling in love within two weeks, Tanya started to have doubts during her stay at Casa Amor, and Shaq briefly ended his relationship with her.

After leaving the villa in February, Shaq and Tanya are still very much in love, and have since been discussing the ‘bad edit’ that they received on the show.

In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Shaq defended how his girlfriend came across to viewers on screen.

“I’ve watched more than she’s watched and based on the things that I know and how it was perceived, Tanya’s not like that. She’s not this big bad villain that everyone thinks she is,” the 25-year-old detailed.

“She’s honestly the nicest, kindest girl that I've ever met and I wouldn’t be with her if that wasn’t the case,” Shaq added.

Tanya then went on to explain the contrasts in the show’s production. “Everyone in the villa knows cause you can tell the difference between villa votes and outside votes,” she stated.

“We never got picked because we were actually decent and they could tell how I am because they know how I am,” the 23-year-old continued.

However, Tanya expressed how her portrayal on screen affected the public’s votes. “But then obviously on screen it was a completely different thing, so yeah I do think we got edited pretty bad because that’s not me,” she insisted.

Lastly, the biomedical science student shared a key piece of advice for those entering Love Island this summer.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing and you don’t know how you’ll be edited so you might as well be yourself because if you’re trying to be mad then you’ll look even worse,” she noted.

“Whereas if you just be yourself then everyone will see your true personality when you get out,” Tanya concluded.

LloydsPharmacy is urging the public to understand the importance of being prepared for the sun and the importance of being sun smart as we head into the peak summer season. Research has shown that just over a third (36%) of adults claim they only apply SPF in the summer months, with 70% of adults claiming they don’t apply SPF when abroad in a sunny destination.

Shockingly, research also shows that two-thirds of Irish Adults don’t apply suncream during the summer months despite knowing the negative effects of sun exposure. Protecting your skin from the sun all year around with the proper sun care is extremely important as it reduces your risk of skin cancer, protects you against sunburn, helps you avoid inflammation and redness and can prevent the early onset of wrinkles and fine lines. SPF 50+ offers the highest protection and is perfect when you anticipate spending all day in the sun, or if you will go outside at midday.

When it comes to protecting your children under 12 months, LloydsPharmacy say it’s important to remember the following:

  1. For children under 12 months, it is best to keep them out of direct sunlight
  2. It's better in the first 6 months to protect babies from direct sunlight rather than use sunscreen. This is because their skin doesn't absorb sunscreen as well as older children. Where exposure to sunlight can’t be avoided, dress the baby in lightweight sun—protective clothing that breathes and covers the arms and legs, and a baby sun hat that shades the entire face, ears, and neck.
  3. If using sunscreen, choose one that is suitable for babies. Apply the required amounts of sunscreen to their exposed skin.

The Solero Suncare range is available across 88 LloydsPharmacy stores nationwide, online from lloydspharmacy.ie or through the LloydsPharmacy Ireland app. The range will ensure people are fully equipped with the essential products they need to enjoy the sun safely.

The Solero Suncare range is high quality and affordable, water resistant, fast absorbing, non-staining and easy to apply. Dermatologically tested and approved, the range offers sun protection for all skin types. Products in the Solero Suncare range include:

  • Solero SPF50 Lip Protection Stick, Now Only €3.00, RRP: €6.00
  • Solero SPF50 Sun Spray 200ml, Now Only €8.00, RRP: €16.00
  • Solero SPF50 Kids Sun Spray 200ml, Now Only €8.00, RRP: €16.00
  • Solero SPF50 Face Cream Antiaging 50Ml, Now Only €6.00, RRP: €12.00
  • Solero Sports Sun Pro Stick SPF50 15Ml, Now Only €5.00, RRP: €10.00
  • Solero Antireddening Aftersun 200Ml, Now Only €4.50, RRP: €9.00

Rachael Stewart, Supervising Pharmacist, LloydsPharmacy Nutgrove said: ‘It is so important that people wear SPF, particularly in the summer months. It can benefit you in so many ways, not least to reduce your risk of skin cancer. People forget how important SPF is to wear and we should be applying SPF throughout the day, every day, even when it is not sunny out. The range of Solero Suncare products available at LloydsPharmacy offers people the protection they need from the sun.

The Solero Suncare range of products are all dermatologically tested and can be used on all skin types. If you have any questions in relation to the range, call into your local LloydsPharmacy and an expert colleague will be able to assist you further.’

Holidaymakers are being warned to check their travel adapters after more than 7,000 were recalled ahead of the summer.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) have recalled thousands of travel adapters from three different brands following the discovery of ‘serious issues’. The CCPC are encouraging the public to check if they purchased any of the affected ones and to discontinue using them immediately.

Sharing the list of recalled products, the CCPC have named the following three as being unsafe for holidaymakers to use.

A travel adapter called G&BL Universal Multitravel Adapter, which was sold in Harvey Norman, has been recalled due to the product’s risk of electric shock. The shutters of the adapter are absent for the Australian socket system, which may cause the user to access live parts (e.g. the pin) and receive an electric shock.

The type/number of the model is Art. 6769 and the bar code is 8011884067692. The batch number of the adapter is unknown. There are approximately 1,222 affected products in Ireland.

The second brand of adapter that has safety concerns is the Homesafe Universal USB Travel Adaptor, which was purchased from various retailers. The affected product was manufactured from 2021 to 2022.

There is a risk of electric shock from the productas the socket shutters can be opened without a plug being inserted, making live parts accessible.

The type/number of the model is MMTA01/JL153, the batch number is BT1887, and the barcode is 5391529360023. There are approximately 6,040 affected products in the country.

The final adapter brand that has been recalled is the WELLY enjoy IT universal travel adapter, sold on the Amazon platform. The risk presented by the product is also an electric shock. During normal use, the US pin breaks off and stays in the socket. When trying to get the US pin out of the socket with their fingers, the user suffers an electric shock.

The type/number of the model is WY13100. The ASIN number is B07DRP4NND. The barcode is 8054392613845. There are approximately 50 affected products in the Republic of Ireland, which were purchased online through Amazon.

The CCPC have shared the following tips for consumers to follow when using a travel adapter.

  1. Use only in the countries listed on the product, its packaging or accompanying safety information.

  2. Always plug the appliance into the travel adaptor first, before inserting the travel adaptor into the socket.

  3. Don’t overload the adaptor. It’s designed for short-term use only, with low energy consumption devices, not as a replacement for a domestic socket.

  4. Unplug the adaptor when you’re finished using it, when you’re leaving the house or your accommodation, and when you’re going to sleep.

Amy Hart has admitted to feeling ‘mum guilt’ with her son Stanley.

The former Love Island star welcomed her baby boy into the world at the beginning of March with her partner Sam Rason.

As Amy prepares for Stanley to turn 12 weeks old next week, she spoke about experiencing ‘mum guilt’ and discussed the impact that social media can have on new mums.

Credit: Amy Hart Instagram

Speaking to her 1.1M Instagram followers on her Stories, the 30-year-old explained, “So today I went back to London. I drove all the way to London to take two pictures. Obviously we didn’t take two pictures, we took like 40 pictures and 50 pictures to get two nice pictures”.

“So mum had Stanley but because I had like 4 hours in the car in the end, I had a lot of time to think and we all know that is a very very dangerous thing to do”.

“Basically I had my first spell of mum guilt, like proper mum guilt and it wasn't because I'd left him, it was because I worked out that next Friday he is 12 weeks old”.

Credit: Amy Hart Instagram

Amy continued, “I was like, ‘What?’, he's three months old next Friday! And I basically had a bit of like a panic where I was like, ‘Oh my god the poor boy, he's been alive for 12 weeks and he's basically spent the majority of it lying on my chest on the sofa’”.

“I was like, ‘He's done nothing with his life, oh my God’. He's never been to a farm, he's never been to Tilgate Park, he's never been to Fisher’s Farm, he hasn't been to Legoland, he hasn't been to the cinema, he hasn't been bowling”.

“So I called Sam and I was like, ‘We need to take Stanley swimming at the weekend because he's 12 weeks next week and he's done nothing with his life’. And Sam was like, ‘Babe he's literally been to Spain’”.

Credit: Amy Hart Instagram

“I think a lot of it comes from social media and seeing what other people are doing and I think I always forget like that he's only 10 weeks because he's so big and he's got so much hair. I think in my head he's like six months old”.

Amy closed off by saying, “Mum guilt has now gone. I think I overreacted a bit like I say I had four hours in the car on my own and I'm not used to that anymore…If anyone else is feeling mom guilt you're totally doing enough”.

After welcoming her son into the world, Amy revealed, “Being a Mum is the best thing I’ve ever done and seeing Sam become a Dad has been an amazing experience. I’m so lucky to be doing life with the two of them”.

Kate and Rio Ferdinand have been setting the record straight on their relationship.

It has been known for some time that the couple, who tied the knot in 2019, first met on holiday in Dubai in 2016.

However, Kate and Rio have since admitted that they are often confronted with false narratives about their first meeting.

On the most recent episode of her podcast Blended, Kate invited her husband to answer some burning questions.

Credit: Kate Ferdinand Instagram

Starting off their Q&A, the pair chose to answer a fan querying if they got together while Rio was still married to his late ex-wife, Rebecca Ellison, who died from breast cancer in 2015.

“Can I just say, a lot of people say this,” Kate began. “This is one that has actually caused a little bit of issues within the family, because our kids are old enough to read comments.”

So, the couple chose to confront the “real rumour that’s out there” and recount the story of how they met.

“I was at the beach, at a bar. My mum was with us and she was looking after the kids,” Rio recalled.

Credit: Kate Ferdinand Instagram

“That’s when I saw you. You kept looking at me, obviously,” he joked, adding that he spoke to a mutual friend of Kate’s at the time.

“My friend came over and said, ‘So and so is over there, he wants your number,’ and I was just like, ‘Whatever, he’s a footballer’, that was a no-go zone,” Kate explained with a laugh.

Four hours later, the pair eventually crossed paths and hit it off that night. Kate then went on to detail how she played a trick on her now-husband.

“I don’t mean to be stereotypical, but I knew you thought I was coming home with you,” she teased.

Credit: Kate Ferdinand Instagram

“We got to my hotel, you wanted a kiss but there was no kiss, you tried to get out and I said, ‘Where are you going?’ and your face, I wish I could picture it right now!” Kate exclaimed.

“I went back [to his hotel], and the rest is history, as they say!” Rio concluded.

The couple now have a baby girl on the way and share two-year-old son Cree together, alongside Rio’s eldest children Lorenz (16), Tate (14) and Tia (12).
