We may complain about the barrage of questioning we're faced with when we attempt to buy codeine-based painkillers at a pharmacy, but it's all for a good reason.

One Irish woman has spoken out about her two-and-a-half year struggle with codeine, which at its peak saw her taking up to 84 tablets every day.

"Two and a half years ago, I broke my ankle. I was told to take a codeine-based tablet," Bray woman Stacey Dutton explains in a Facebook post.

"After three weeks of taking these, my ankle healed but I still continued taking the pills. I had become addicted to the codeine.

"It went from 12 a day but up to November last year, I was taking 84 a day."

Stacey goes on to explain how her addiction issues led to her life falling apart – though from the outside she appeared to be coping well.

"From a stranger's eyes, I was fine, nothing was up, I was a happy 23-year-old. But from my best friends and family's eyes I had changed big time."

"I had lost everything – a great job, my home, but most importantly I lost my [boyfriend] Chris."

Finally, just last month, Stacey decided to seek help.

"Over December I came off everything with the help of my family and a doctor. I went from 1030mg of codeine a day to just 120," she writes.

"Right now, I am packing my bag for rehab, that’s where I’ll be for the next six months.

"Codeine is not seen as a huge problem because, let's face it, you can buy it anywhere in any chemist but I'm telling you now it has ruined my life."

Stacey says she shared the post to alert others and to let anyone with a similar problem know that they're not alone.

When Ray Smith decided it was time to propose to his girlfriend Claire Bramley, he wanted a few practice runs before getting down on one knee.

So rather than turn to family or friends for advice, he decided to propose 148 different times – in secret.

Yep, over the course of five months, Ray snuck a card bearing the words 'Will You Marry Me?' into 148 different photos of himself and Claire, who was pregnant with their baby at the time.

"I have been planning to propose for a while and I knew I wanted to do something romantic," he explains.

"I told her I was taking the pictures to track the progress of the baby. Sometimes she wanted to see the pictures so I had to take more than one – one with the card and one without."

Ray admits the process didn't always go to plan, however.

"It was really stressful putting it all together, it took a lot of hard work. She nearly caught me a couple of times but I just had to pray it worked."

Luckily for Ray, Claire says she was "oblivious" to his master plan, and when the time finally did come to pop the question for real, she was blown away.

Watch Ray's proposal video, featuring the photos, below:

Very cute.

Recently police in the US warned parents of the dangers of ecstasy pills that 'looked like' sweets and could accidentally be eaten by children. But today Haribo has managed to turn that problem on its head by launching a new range of sweets that look like, well, something a fair bit stronger than what they actually are.

Behold, Haribo's rave-inspired jellies:

According to the Haribo site, the sweets have a "slightly acidic" taste, and come in flavours like cola, lemon and raspberry, with each circular sweet designed to look like a "button" on a DJ deck.

The new DJ Brause Sauer (translated as 'DJ Sherbet') sweets are disco-themed, which has only added to the controversy.

When asked by one publication about the possible link to drugs, the German sweet company said it takes its "social responsibility very seriously" and that the jellies are only intended to look like play, pause, rewind and fast-forward buttons.

While the thought of Donald Trump as the next leader of the free world is terrifying enough, this clip from his rally is actually the stuff of nightmares.

The so-called Freedom Girls took to the stage at a Trump support rally in Florida on Wednesday to perform a propagranda song to a whopping 10,000 people that were in attendance.

Yep, if you never thought the day would come when you would see three little girls in cheerleading costumes lip-sync along to a dreadful song about how wonderful a President Donald Trump would make, well we hate to break it to you but the day has well and truly arrived.

Sample lyrics include: "Enemies of freedom, face the music! Come on boys! Take 'em down!" and "President Donald Trump knows how to make America great! Deal from strength or get crushed every time."

Even delivered in the monotonous voice of eleven-year-olds, we are suitably creeped out.

But the crowd totally loved it, of course.

It seems that Jeremy has a pretty impressive package, just in case you were interesting.

According to his roommate Ray Quinlan, the Irish model is pretty proud of his nether region which is reportedly a good ten inches. Again, just in case you wanted to know.

Speaking to Heat Magazine, Ray said that Jeremy's equipment is so large that it once landed a girl in hospital.

"I see him naked all the time, he’s proud of his body. He’s not lying when he says he’s 10 inches. He’s a big lad.

"One girl ended up messaging him the next day from A&E thinking he’d ruptured her appendix. She was OK, it was just a strain or something."

Earlier this week a six minute clip of the model taken on a phone began to get traction on social media.

The alleged 'sex tape' shows Jeremy in bed with a girl, making a kissing face to the camera before indulging in some sexy antics.

We bet Jeremy is simply delighted for the world to know all this information about his sexual life, but he may not have wanted everyone to figure out that he in fact never held the title of Mr. Ireland but was just a contestant in the pageant.

Despite many media outlets reporting that Jeremy had won the competition, official reps for the pageant have denied these claims.

"He was a finalist in late 2012 which saw Mr Limerick Leo Delaney win the title and represent Ireland at Mr World 2013," organisers told RSVP magazine on Wednesday.

In fairness to Jezza, we don't think he actually made the claims himself though we also never heard him deny them.

Friends fans (i.e. the majority of the world's population) got a huge surprise this week when it was revealed the cast would be reuniting.

Plans for a once-off TV special, organised by NBC in honour of sitcom director James Burrows, were said to feature an appearance from everyone' favourite New Yorkers, back together for one last time.

However before we even got an inkling of what form the reunion would take – A brand new episode?! A flashback?! A look to the future?! – our hopes were already shot down by none other than Matthew Perry.

According to a statement from his rep, Matthew is due to be in the UK at the time of the TV special and so won't be featuring. Meaning that whatever happens, we'll only get to see five sixths of the legendary cast.

"Regarding Matthew Perry and the James Burrows tribute, Matthew will not be attending, as he is in London in rehearsals for his play," the actor's rep Lisa Kastelar told Us Weekly last night.

"NBC executives were aware of this prior to their TCA announcement yesterday. Matthew may tape something for the tribute. In other words, this is not the reunion people have been hoping for."

Ouch. Way to ruin our hopes, Lisa.

Of course, NBC had warned that there might be some issues getting the cast together, saying that "logistically" it might not work.

We have our fingers crossed for a miracle, however.

Caitlyn Jenner had the perfect comeback for Ricky Gervais following a controversial joke he made about her at the Golden Globes last weekend.

The host, who is well known for speaking his mind, made comments about the Kardashian star while he hosted the event.

"What a year she's had," said Ricky at the podium.

"She's become a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery and destroying stereotypes."

"She didn't do a lot for women drivers. You can't have everything, can you, not at the same time."

The comedian was referencing the car crash Caitlyn was involved in last year in which one person was killed.

While the joke got laughs at the ceremony, many Twitter users thought that the comment was distasteful as well as transphobic.

But they had need not have worried, because Caitlyn is more than capable of defending herself.

"On Ricky, I think what I’m gonna do [is] call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year," said the 66-year-old at a panel discussion for her show, I am Cait.

"And we’ll solve that problem."

You tell em, sister!

Caitlyn has also revealed today that she thinks she is finally ready to get back in the dating game with a man.

"To be honest I don't see myself dating women in the future," reveals the brunette in a season two premiere for her show.

For the past few days, we seem to have been inundated by advertisements, media reports and general outrage about a controversial new product called the Ladyball

As ads began to appear in national newspapers, on Irish television and all over the internet (the Ladyball has quite literally taken over the Independent website today), we are all left to wonder what the hell is going on and could this possibly be an actual product?

As we try to figure out what the campaign could really be about, here is everything we know so far about the Ladyball:

1) A ball designed for a woman's ability

The Ladyball is simply a ball, but according to the product's questionable marketing campaign, it has been adapted to suit "a woman's ability."

Yep, the Ladyball adheres to every gender stereotype going claiming that it's pink design and softer touch will encourage more women to play sports.

According to the website, the product is "a soft, trendy ball that [can] enhance natural feminine abilities and make it easier for girls to play."

2) Sworn to secrecy

Sources have told SHEmazing! that the marketing firm working with the company behind the Ladyball have all signed non-disclosure agreements but maintain that the product and campaign are real.

Shifty, very shifty….

3) Could it be legitimate?

Ever since launching nationally two days ago, everyone is trying to figure out if the product is real or not.

With a testimonial on the website like "finally, a ball that matches my boots" and tweets reading "don't break a nail, break boundaries", it is certainly hard to take the product seriously.

Many have speculated that the campaign may be a publicity stunt or will perhaps turn out to be raising awareness for a related cause, but two days later we are still no closer to solving the mystery of the Ladyball.

4) No news on where or when it can be purchased

While the advertisements are literally everywhere, the product cannot be purchased yet adding to our suspicions that the campaign is a ruse.

The officinal line of comment is that the ball is: "not yet in development – distribution and sale may be subject to demand."

Hmmmm.

5) Endorsed by Ger Brennan

In perhaps the most bizarre aspect of the campaign, the Ladyball is endorsed by Dublin GAA player, Ger Brennan.

Having been known for his questionable views in the past, Ger's comments on the website bring the whole campaign into a new territory of farce.

"I have no doubt the softer texture will be welcomed by all the ladies out there," says Ger on the site. "The fact that it is pink is an added bonus."

6) Everyone is suitably confused and/ or outraged

While we are assuming that the campaign is fake, Twitter has been predictably outraged by the whole thing.

We wait in bated breath for the grand reveal that we sure do HOPE is coming.

Little Mix did well out of yesterday's BRIT nominations, getting two nods for the upcoming awards – Best British Single and Best British Video for Black Magic.

Jesy Nelson saw the news first via email, and did what any BFF would do after hearing something exciting – headed straight to the WhatsApp group.

"The moment Jesy found out before the rest of us," Jade Thirwall wrote on the official Little Mix Instagram page yesterday, sharing a screenshot of Jesy's adorably excitable messages.

"I can't stop crying omg," Jesy wrote to her bandmates.

"Read the email read the email guysssssssss read it read it."

Yup, that sounds like us pretty much any time we see something we NEED to share.

The girls are also lined up to perform at this year's BRITs, with Jesy saying via Instagram that it was a dream the band had shared "for four years."

Fingers crossed the ladies do win on the night, because that's gonna be one hell of an awards speech.

Five people are left seriously ill and in hospital while one has gone into a coma following a medical trial in France.

In a routine test of new medication, the test subjects have been left with potentially fatal illnesses.

The health ministry in France has announced the news today after the tragic incident occurred following routine tests at an unnamed laboratory in Brittany.

"This test was carried out at a private establishment specialised in carrying out clinical trials," said the statement.

According to reports, all of the individuals involved had been in perfect health before taking the unidentified drugs.

A French newspaper has reported that the drug was a new cannabis-based painkiller though this is yet to be confirmed.

One Direction are officially on a hiatus but that doesn't mean that the boyband aren't still sending the world into a total meltdown.

The internet seriously lost it earlier this week when Niall Horan appeared to have ditched his trademark blonde tresses in favour of a brunette look and now Liam is adding fuel to the fire by shaving his head.

The 22-year-old debuted his new appearance in an Instagram snap and as predicted, 1D fans are slowly losing their minds.

Liam has had quite the hair journey so join us as we reminisce in the good, the bad and the downright not-so-cute.

2008

Liam first appeared on the scene when he auditioned for the X Factor in 2008.

We all fell in love with his Bieber-esque good looks and were suitably mortified when he was booted off at the Judges Houses stage by Simon.

2010

In a move that would forever embed him as a total God for teenage girls everywhere, Liam came back to the X Factor as a soloist in 2010.

Slightly older but still sporting his shiny bowl-cut do, he was lumped into a boyband along with four other suitably adorable men…

2011

Having come third place on the X Factor with One Direction the year before, Liam appeared to put down the hair straightener and let his locks grow out into a messy, surfer style.

As we awed at his hairs' volume and shine, we realised this man's barnet would forever enthral us.

2012

Liam opted to ditch his long locks in favour of a grown-up shorter style for 2012.

Luckily for us all, his head of hair was still fluffy enough to satiate the desires of One Directioners everywhere.

2013

In a drastic hair overhaul, Liam nearly sent us all to an early grave when he decided to shave all his hair off.

As he battled against his boyband image, the world lamented the fact that Liam would just not allow that great head of hair to grow.

2014-2015

However, it did come back. For most of 2014 and 2015, an all-grown-up Liam tantalisingly allowed his hair to grow just a little bit.

Thankfully, there was always just about enough hair on his head to appease his die-hard hair fans.

2016

But WHAT'S THIS?

As we mourn the hiatus, Liam decided to hit fans with another curve ball. He appears to have shaved it all off all over again.

Excuse us, while we head into mourning.
