Kate Middleton’s official painting may have been a disaster, but she is loving an unusual unofficial one!

Tom Sutton-Smith was dared by his friends to create an alternative to the controversial Paul Emsley painting created in 2012 – and it looks like a hit!

The artist explained his painting to Vanity Fair, saying: “[Kate is] kind of sparkly and I wanted to convey that in the eyes and mouth.”

Prince William was said to be delighted when they were gifted with the painting, reportedly saying: “Wow! It’s brilliant! That’s going up in my room.”

It was also said that Kate herself held the painting for some time, and seemed quite taken with it.

Do you think it is better than the original official painting?

When you live far away from home, either by choice, or perhaps not, celebrations like Father’s Day are not always easy. Here are some ways you can send your love to your dad even if you live far away:

1. Plan in advance
If you do live in another country, it’s important to take into consideration how long it will take to get your gift/card to your dad. Make sure to know how long you will need.

2. Skype call
Many dads these days are tech-savvy so get him set up with a Skype account (if he doesn’t have one already!) and you can chat away on his special day. Putting time aside on this day in particular will remind him that no matter where you are, you’re still his little girl! Aww!

3. Baby photos
If you are super organised, you can get your mom to send you on some baby photos of you and your dad together and make a sweet photo collage on a card. Remember, it can’t be too big as it has to travel and don’t use any photos you haven’t copied just in case it doesn’t reach its destination.

4. Delivery
Dads don’t generally tend to be too interested in flowers, but there are plenty of other things you can get delivered in Ireland and organise it from wherever you are. Perhaps a chocolate and fruit bouquet? Or a beer can bouquet? We don’t know any dad that would turn THAT down! You could even organise with your mum what time they are planning on having dinner at and YOU can order it from their favourite place for them.

5. Holiday!
Okay so this one may not be possible for many people living abroad, but if you have the means, this one could be really special. Book flights for your dad to come visit you in your new home, or  book some holidays for yourself and surprise your dad! The look on his face is not one you will likely forget for quite a while to come!

We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what we didn’t know was that it can help us burn calories.

According to new research, if you eat a good breakfast,, you will lose more calories than if you skip it.

The University of Bath divided a certain number of people aged between 21 and 60 into a ‘fasting’ group and a ‘breakfast’ group. It’s kind of obvious who did what in each group!

While the study found that having breakfast didn’t stop snacking during the day, those who did have it were more active, making them use more energy – about 442 calories worth.

Principal investigator in the study, Dr James Betts said: “The main finding from our study is that people who eat breakfast burn more calories. Most people would think this is because of reduced snacking and increased metabolic rate but actually this is due to moving around. They were more active during the period that they had eaten breakfast. People moved around if they had been fed and there are many benefits to being active.”

So, if we eat breakfast, we have more energy which we end up burning off anyway – amazing!

While some of these may be similar for people who went to singe sex schools too, it’s just not quite the same as having boys in your class!

1. You can’t stand the sight of uniforms
In mixed schools everyone has to wear the same uniform. They may have these in single sex schools too, but it’s harder for us – we’re trying to impress here!

disgusted-Al-Bundy2. Transition year was the best year of your life
Fun in the sun, getting to really know your class…ya, it was a great year.

Boys against girls was always the biggest rush ever! They always won tug-of-war, but we kicked their asses in rounders!

The guys would slag the girls who always pretended they couldn’t play – but they secretly loved to see us watching from the sidelines.

5.  The Beep test
We all remember the dreaded beep test that we had to do every year. The guys that played sports always dropped out early and the smokers did better than expected. Then they were those who would use every excuse in the book to get out of doing it.

You think this only happened to guys? Oh, no. Instead of our skirts being pulled down, they were instead pulled up over our heads. Thank God for leggings which came back into fashion circa 2002.

troll-dude-pulling-down-reporters-pants-on-live-tv7. Strange nicknames
They were always after some sort of animal or a strange object because we knew that giving someone a nickname was the ultimate revenge. Anytime you would meet old friends from school they always call you by your nickname.

It’s your time to shine!

Of course, there were many couples down through the years, which at best lasted for a week or two. However, there is that one couple who are still together. WTF?

tumblr_m7lhxiezv31rtg9im10. Your textbooks were full of lovehearts… and penises
Everyone gets bored in class so we would resort to doodling. For girls, it was whoever their crush was at the time and, of course, for guys they couldn’t help drawing  penises on their textbooks for some strange reason.

11. Girls made it really obvious when they liked someone
It would appear that the art of subtlety wasn’t instilled into us until some time around 5th year.

There was always one teacher that every guy liked, usually the sexy English teacher and for girls it was the Art teacher that  had amazing hair. On results night, everyone made their embarrassing attempts to try and hook up with them.

 13. The day everyone got injections
It was like an emergency room: people fainting, people getting sick and that one lad who’s arm bruised up. No one likes needles, but anytime we heard that we had to get injections, our hearts would collectively sink.

giphy14. Unisex scraps
We all had that one person we didn’t get on with in school, whether you were a guy or a girl. After school or even sometimes during lunch, fights were organized. Usually it was between two lads, but there was always a fair share of girls that fought because they didn’t like each others hair.

giphy15. You know not to get on the bad side of a girl with an attitude
There is always that one girl that had a bad temper and called herself a ghetto bitch. It is best just to stay clear off her and hope you don’t get paired up in class.

And then getting caught before you even reach the school gate – dammit!

BreakfastClub17. You lived for class trips
Getting away from the daily grind of school life was always the best part of your year. The lucky ones got to go abroad to Paris or Berlin, but for everyone else they had to make do with an adventure centre. Either way, school trips down the country meant no homework , no study and no parents.

Rita Ora is said to be less than impressed that her boyfriend announced their break-up over Twitter this weekend.

A source told The Sun that the singer was ‘mortified’ about the tweet, saying: “Rita was a little mortified that Calvin tweeted about the split but she’s just getting on with things.”

Calvin was seen hanging around with a group of models, prompting rumours that he was cheating on Rita, which is said to be the reason he wrote the tweet in the first place.

We’re not sure why Rita would be so embarrassed about Calvin’s announcement as he was more than gentlemanly in his words, perhaps she wanted to get there first!

Either way, break-ups are never easy so good luck to this pair!

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been surrounded by rumours of problems in their marriage since the incident at the Met Gala last month.

The superstar’s sister, Solange, was seen on video attacking Jay-Z while his wife stood by, prompting speculation that all was not well for the couple.

Since then, many rumours have emerged that the pair are on the verge of breaking up, and even that Bey has been cheating on her husband with her bodyguard!

But it seems, thankfully, that that is all they are for now – rumours.

The couple were seen boarding a plane together with their baby daughter, Blue Ivy, just yesterday, putting on a united front.

We’re relieved to see this – if they can’t last in Hollywood, nobody will!

Having red hair has made people an easy target for bullies since time began, and Harry Potter’s Ron Weasley (aka Rupert Grint) revealed that he was no exception. He listed out some of the names he used to be called in school:

“They’re all variations on ‘Ginge’, ‘M***e’ and ‘Ginger Pubes’. That’s a popular one. Maybe that was bullying. I embraced it.”

You would think that now that he is super rich and famous, having red hair wouldn’t cause him problems anymore, but in fact it just makes him really easy to recognise, which is a big problem when you were in one of the greatest films of all time! Grint says he can’t take public transport anymore because his red hair acts as a “beacon” to fans of the Harry Potter films.

Grint’s fiery hair won’t have anything to do with his latest project Postman Pat though – he has been cast as the voice of Josh, a rival to Postman Pat in a TV talent contest. It sounds original anyway, we can’t wait to check it out!

There’s terrifying news this morning as it has been revealed that an intruder was arrested at the home of Sandra Bullock.

The break-in occurred at around 6.30am, when the actress was asleep at the home.

The intruder was said to be in the grounds of Sandra’s home, checking out her house when police arrived on the scene.

Only hours previous to the frightening event, the Miss Congeniality actress had been presented with the Decade of Hotness award at the Guy’s Choice Awards. The award was presented to her by Hugh Grant, Matthew McConaughey and Keanu Reeves.

What an awful experience for Sandra! Especially given that her young son, Louis, may also have been on the premises.
