Well, we've got some good news.

If you only have to hear the opening line of Lose Yourself in order to immediately launch into Eminem's 2002 track, then you may want to sit down before reading on.

The soundtrack to 8 Mile recently featured in scientific research, and the connotations associated with knowing the words of the track from start to finish aren't exactly uplifting.

According to a preliminary study into psychopathy, individuals who were fans of tracks including Lose Yourself and No Diggity scored the highest on the psychopath scale.

The study, which was conducted at New York City University, involved exposing 200 individuals to 260 songs while researchers compared the participants' personality tests to their taste in music.

And it turns out that Eminem fans along with Blackstreet fans raised more red flags than Sia fans, for example.

Speaking to The Guardian, head researcher, Pascal Wallisch, explained the motivation behind the study, saying: "The media portrays psychopaths as axe murderers and serial killers, but the reality is they are not obvious; they are not like The Joker in Batman,"

"They might be working right next to you and they blend in. They are like psychological dark matter," he added.

As many may consider the link between musical taste and psychopathy a tenuous one, Wallisch explains that the study allows for further investigation into a potentially dangerous group of people.

“You don’t want to have these people in positions where they can cause a lot of harm,” continued Wallisch. “We need a tool to identify them without their cooperation or consent.”

Wallisch stressed that the study was still in its preliminary phases, but are confident that their findings provide a foundation robust enough to launch a major study into the links between musical taste and psychopathic traits.

This work is very preliminary,” he said. “This is not the end of an investigation, it is the very beginning."

Sony Music have announced that a track recorded by the late George Michael will receive its first play on BBC Radio Two today.

The new release comes eight months after his death and though details of the single are yet to be confirmed, a tweet from Nile Roger has led fans to believe that it's a remix of the song Fantasy from the 1987 album, Faith.

The track will debut on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show this morning and fans are gearing to hear the previously unreleased material.

The singer died on Christmas day 2016, aged 53, from heart disease linked to drug and alcohol abuse.

In a statement posted on his website, Michael's sisters reassured fans that Michael's creative team at Sony Records "will continue bringing you all the projects they had been working so hard on for you, exactly as Yog would have wanted."

It's estimated that George left behind up to three album's worth of material including collaborations with Nile Rogers and Naughty Boy.

We're suckers for a bit of nostalgia here at SHEmazing HQ, and nowhere is this more evident than when we cast our minds back over the charts of the last decade.

After realising that Paramore's Riot! was released a full ten years ago, we started reminiscing over the tracks that captured our hearts and minds in that same year.

And as it is August 1, we thought it appropriate to focus our attention on the songs that dominated the national and international charts this same month ten years ago.

With Rihanna finally relinquishing the top spot after Umbrella spent weeks at Number One, these five tracks promptly took its place.

Sir Paul McCartney has reportedly written a song about Donald Trump, just one month after slating the US President for showing the “ugly side of America.”

According to The Liverpool Echo, the 75-year-old former Beatle was making his annual appearance at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, when he confirmed the new track.

Reports suggest that the song, yet to be named, will feature on Paul's upcoming album, due for release later this year.

"Sometimes the situation in the world is so crazy that you’ve got to address it," the music icon told students who gathered to hear him speak.

Earlier this month, the musician vocalised his criticism of Trump during an interview with The Daily Telegraph:

"He’s unleashed the ugly side of America. People feel like they have got a free pass to be, if not violent, at least antagonistic towards people of a different colour or a different race.”

"I think we all thought we’d got past that a long time ago."

Details regarding Paul McCartney's upcoming album remain unclear, however it is known that the rock n' roll icon has been working with producer, Greg Kurstin, who in the past has worked with the likes of Adele, Lily Allen and Sia.

Ever wonder what flavour your favourite song is? Yep, neither have we – and that's why we're a tad confused by this new machine.

Japanese company NOMLAB has invented a juicer, aptly named Squeeze Music, that turns your favourite song into a drink.

The machine analyses the emotional content of the tune, and then transforms it into liquid.

Each feeling has a specific genre:

  • Happy = Sweet

  • Excited = Sour

  • Romantic = Astringent

  • Sentimental = Salty

  • Sad = Bitter

And while music genres produce many more feelings that those five, NOMLAB is looking into incorporating five more feelings into the machines very soon.

According to Indy100, the developers of Squeeze Music said: "At a music festival for example, you can enjoy the experience to have a drink blended according to a song while listening to it at a gig.

"Moreover, we can mix alcohol so it could be served as cocktails in a bar if people want to try that out."

The introduction of alcohol has made it much more appealing to us… but is this just total millennial notions?

Tullamore trio, Chasing Abbey have just landed themselves a global record deal.

The unique pop/ dance/ hip-hop group formed in 2016 and broke onto music scene earlier this year with the release of their debut track, That Good Thing, which made the lads the most listened to unsigned Irish act on radio.

Following the song's success, Chasing Abbey attracted the attention of a number of international labels – and now, they have finally secured a deal with 3 Beat UK and Universal Music.

The renowned record label is responsible for breaking artists such as Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Kanye West and Jay Z.

That Good Thing is set to be released across the UK, Europe, America and the rest of the world in the coming weeks.

If you fancy catching these guys before they become world-wide mega stars, they’ll be playing a headline show at The Academy on September 23.

Boyzone are back!

The guys have been busy working on a very special 25th anniversary album, and it looks like they've enlisted the help of some very talented song writers.

During a recent interview, Shane Lynch revealed that Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith had both penned tracks for the boyband, but admitted that nothing was set in stone just yet.

He told The Sun: “We have gathered a number of tracks. We’re not finished yet, we are still harvesting. We have a track from Ed and one from Sam.”

The track that Sam’s written, I absolutely adore. I love the record so I hope it goes on the album.”

He added: “We are also dealing with some of the guys who worked recently with UK artists from Emeli Sande to Professor Green and Labrinth.”

Shane also told the newspaper that the album was due for release some time between September and February, and confirmed the band would embark on a tour next spring.

“It’s all happening. We’re recording pretty much whenever we can get to a studio.

“We are all floating around a bit doing individual projects — some in London, some in LA, Ronan is in and out of Australia.

“Nowadays recording is brilliant because you don’t actually have to be there, you can send files around the world.”

This will be the band's first release since their 20th anniversary album in 2013.

If there’s one thing that is guaranteed to invigorate us here at SHEmazing HQ, it’s the discovery of new music.

And that discovery is made all the more electrifying when the artist in question hails from Ireland.

A recent release from Lydia Forde, who is currently making waves on the New York music scene, is rapidly becoming our most played track of the month.

Read, which deftly navigates the scenarios thrown up by the reopening of old relationship wounds, sounds like a mix between Kate Nash, Foxes and Dolores O' Riordan, and frankly we’re obsessed.

Filmed in Brooklyn, the video follows her trying to escape the memory of an ex in a dreamy one-shot sequence, and we'll admit we have had this tune on repeat for days.

The Killers are coming to Dublin's 3Arena this November.

Ahead of the release of the band's fifth album, Wonderful World, the American rock group have announced a huge UK and Ireland tour for November 2017.

Taking to the stage on Thursday, November 16, the band will perform some of their greatest hits from throughout the years along with tracks from their upcoming release.

Tickets are €65.00 including booking fee and will go on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday, July 14.

We all know music can have a soothing effect, but how many of us automatically reach for it in the height of stressful or anxious period?

Well, according to neurologic music therapist, Elizabeth Nightingale, listening to music during an anxious period can have a profoundly positive physiological impact.

From lowering your blood pressure and slowing your heart rate to reducing stress hormones, the power of music cannot be underestimated.

“Classical music has been found to induce relaxation and increase dopamine, which is a neurotransmitter that helps elevate mood,” Eliazabeth of Chiltern Music Therapy explains.

“But music is subjective, so anything that you find calming will have these physiological benefits and will help to reduce anxiety."

It is, however, important to remember that you need to give your chosen music your complete focus if you want it to have the desired effect.

"If there aren’t any competing stimuli, the music is given the maximum chance to benefit," Elizabeth continues.

This theory has been examined in recent years by Daniel J. Levitin, PhD, who studies the neuroscience of music at McGill University in Montreal

Levitan found that music improves the body's immune system function and reduces stress.

His research which was published in Trends in Cognitive Sciences in 2013 and established that listening to music was also found to be more effective than prescription drugs in reducing anxiety in a patient prior to surgery.

Introducing KILNAMANA – the Irish/ Spanish musical act making waves across the continent.

The Berlin-based duo, Enda and Miguel, have just released their debut album Paradise Suicide.

Enda Gallery spoke exclusively to SHEmazing about the band's formation and success so far.  

Now, the band name might ring a bell for those of you hailing from the West Dublin area, and yes it is a nod to the suburban area.

The pair agreed on the name after they discovered that Miguel had spent his summers learning English at Enda's primary school in Kilnamanagh.

''He ended up living about 100 metres away from that school I went to in Kilnamanagh, so it was a super crazy coincidence.''

The musical duo, now based in Berlin, met at a language school in the German capital.

''We met in language school and I was kind of busy producing other artists and doing other things… he found my stuff online and he wanted to do a session and I was kind of fobbing him off for a few months because I was too busy.''

Enda continued, ''Then on the last day of language school I was like hey I really like this guy – he's super nice, let's do a session.''

The chemistry was instant and the guys ended up producing songs straight off the bat.

''We found it really easy to work together and we made our first song in our first session.''

''We kept it going and we had out first album within about 12 weeks.''

The album may have only been released last Friday, but the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive. 

Their music video debuted on Nialler9 and the duo were just named Best New Irish Artist of the week in The Irish Times. 

As for the German reception, KILNAMANA have already already enjoyed some radio play and have racked up an impressive Spotify following. 

'We're getting some radio play over here… the Spotify spins are also super big – we're almost on 75,000 listeners for the main single – and that's only in like 10 or 11 days''

KILNAMANA's live shows can be described as ''very powerful''.

Fans can expect an exciting and 'danceable' performance featuring keyboards, flutes, and electric drums. 

''It has some acoustic moments but we do bring in up a level – we play a lot of live instruments.''

Unfortunately the band don't have any Irish tour dates set right now, but say it's something they're definitely looking forward to doing in the future. 

''It's something I'm going to push for now. I didn't actually know how good the reception was going to be in Ireland and it's going really well so I think for the first time I probably will throw our name in for a few festivals and see what happens.''

Earlier this month KILNAMANA released the video for the last song on the album, Adios Amigo. 

The video, directed by Enda's friend, Dave O' Carroll, was shot in Lough Dan, Co. Wicklow and Krumme Lanke in Berlin.

''I had the idea in a band meeting back in February, and you know obviously when you're a small band you don't have the budget to do crazy stories and stuff but we still wanted to do a really really cool video,'' Enda explained.
