Amber Heard tearfully discussed the details of her experiences with domestic violence in a powerful video that has since disappeared from the internet.

The video showed the actress emotionally recalling how she felt during the alleged abuse at the hands of her now ex-husband Johnny Depp.

She settled her divorce with Johnny Depp earlier this year after claiming that the actor was "verbally and physically abusive."

In the video, Amber recalls her feelings of shame during the alleged abuse.

"'I guess there was a lot of shame attached to that, the label of victim."

"It happens to so many women you know. When it happens in your home behind closed doors with someone you love, it’s not straightforward. If a stranger did this it would be a no-brainer,'" she said in the video, which was uploaded by the Girl Gaze Project.

The model said that the only way we can start to move forward in preventing domestic violence is if women will come forward.

"You don't have to do it alone. You're not alone, and we can change this."

"Speak up, speak up. Raise your voice, your voice is the most powerful thing and we, together, as women standing shoulder to shoulder cannot and will not any longer accept silence."

The video was released on Friday to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Towards Women.

In a strange turn of events, the video has now been set to private, and a corresponding Facebook post to promote the "public service announcement" has also been erased.

So pictures of Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner with burst lips and black eyes went viral yesterday as part of a pretty shocking domestic violence campaign.

The ads were designed by artist, AleXsandro Palombo and the project featured photo shopped images of well known female celebrities looking battered and bruised.

The campaign is definitely eye catching but it is making headlines for reasons other than the intense imagery that was used.

Apparently, AleXsandro used the pictures without getting permission from the stars who were featured.

According to TMZ, reps for Kim and Kendall confirmed that neither of the reality star duo had signed off on their pictures being used for the campaign.

The ladies have reportedly got their attorneys on the case who have a issued a warning to AleXsandro and ordered that the ads be removed.

We don't know about you, but we would not want to face the wrath of any Kardashian.

According to AleXsandro, the purpose of the project was to bring awareness to the International Day for Elimination of Violence which took place on November 25 and encourage those who have suffered from domestic violence to "break the silence."

He also insisted that he only used commercially-available paparazzi shots to create the posters and then heavily photo shopped them.

A spokesperson from the Kardashians noted that even though Kim and Kendall support the message of the campaign, they felt that they should reserve the right to decide whether their public image is used for a social cause.

The posters feature a string of famous faces including Angelina Jolie, Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus and Madonna.

On the surface, Dubliner Emma Murphy was leading a perfect life. Two beautiful kids, her own successful fitness business, and a supportive partner.

Her Facebook profile is full of hundreds of smiling photos of herself and her family, with no sign of any of the pain that was underneath it all.

But last night Emma posted a video that told a very different story. One of months of fear, violence and mental abuse.

During the video, Emma speaks honestly and openly the long-term relationship she has had with an unfaithful and abusive partner. Through tears and with noticeable bruising on her left eye, the mum-of-two tells her story.

I thought long and hard before posting this video, this is very difficult for me but I have to do what is RIGHT, if you or anyone you know has it is in a similar situation please share this video to inspire other women around the world, violence is NOT the answer!!!!

Posted by Emma Murphy on Monday, 6 July 2015

"I've been in a relationship for three-and-a-half years with a guy I thought was the love of my life," she explains. "He was the love of my life. I loved him with all my heart."

Emma then goes on to reveal the pain she has been hiding for the last year and a half – her partner's cheating, his insistence that she was "insecure" and "a psycho," and eventually, his physical abuse.

She explains that she went back and forth many times about whether she should come clean about what was going on and confront the issues head on, but that she has finally come to the realisation that "no matter where you're from, it is not right to raise a hand to a woman."

The video makes for emotional viewing, and since it was posted yesterday it has been picked up by news outlets all over the world. Hopefully Emma's story can do some good in helping other women to have the courage to take their own stand.

NO MORE.org have released their advert for the Super Bowl and it shows the dark nature of domestic violence around the world.

Using a story that went viral last year in which a woman rang 911 pretending she was ordering a pizza, hearing the interaction is another thing to reading it.

The US organisation is there to listen to victims of domestic violence when it’s hard to talk and aims to put an end to domestic violence and sexual assault.

Such a powerful ad, we’re glad it will get national airtime during the Super Bowl to raise awareness and reach people not only around America, but around the world.

The TV star also required medical attention from paramedics who arrived on the scene.

Police in the area confirmed the incident, stating: “We were called to an address in Warley near Brentwood shortly before 1.15am today following reports a woman had been assaulted. Officers went to the location and the victim was assessed by ambulance paramedics but did not need hospital treatment.”

Poor Gemma – we hope she is okay after the incident. We're not sure a stint in the jungle would help with this situation – perhaps a relaxing holiday would be better?!

When a video leaked earlier this week of American Football player Ray Rice punching his wife Janay in the face so hard during an argument that he knocked her unconscious, the internet erupted with outrage.

Rice has since had his contract terminated by his team, the Baltimore Ravens, and has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL. But, in a move that has shocked many, his wife has stood by him and has blamed the media – not her husband – for the pain brought on her family.

She took to Instagram yesterday to say, “To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass [off] for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.”

Many people have criticised Janay for not punishing her husband for his actions, and for not leaving him – either now or when the incident occurred back in February. Much as it might seem bizarre to stay in a relationship that is so clearly dysfunctional, it is not for any of us to say what someone in an abusive relationship should or should not do.

A conversation began on Twitter last night which highlighted the pain, confusion, anger and ultimately the loneliness that comes with being in an abusive relationship. Many women have shared their stories using the hashtags #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft. Some are stories of triumph and freedom, while others highlight just how easy it is to become trapped in an unhealthy relationship:

Many have praised the discussion for the awareness it is raising:

Although the hashtags have started a very important conversation, they highlight the stories of just a small number of women.

In Ireland alone, one in seven women have been a victim of domestic abuse. An average of 40 incidents of domestic violence a day were disclosed to the Women’s Aid National Freephone Helpline in 2012.

Domestic violence is not a rare occurrence. For many women and men, it is part of daily life. Although we might believe we are not affected by domestic abuse, it’s certain that that someone close to us is or has been. So whether you take a few minutes to scroll through the messages on Twitter, or whether you make the decision to speak up or ask for help – become a part of this important conversation.

Irish TV personality, columnist and author Amanda Brunker has lashed out at Irish model Tiffany Stanley after she posed for a photo with Chris Brown and said he was a gentleman.

Brunker said that Tiffany was letting the “peroxide go to her head” if she thought the rapper was a gentleman, adding:

“Chris Brown is of course the lad who beat up Rihanna and committed many a violent crime, but sure in Tiff ‘s eyes, we seem to have all misunderstood Chris.

“I say that because the blonde bombshell also declared that the punching popstar was, ‘a gentleman’ when she met him. Quite!”

Amanda later revealed that the reason she got so angry was because she has been abused herself:

“Apologies, having been a victim of domestic violence I kinda despise Chris Brown. I wish Tiff well…”

Tiffany did not lay back and take the criticism easily though, saying:

“I really could not care less about begrudging writers who need to fill column inches with unkindness.

“Posting a picture with Max Clifford might also be considered ‘fame hungry’ by many.”

Ouch, this looks like it could get very nasty.
