So two baby meerkats were born in Australia last month and the Taronga Zoo were quick to show them off on social media.

And we can understand why.

Meerkats in general are cute but baby meerkats are simply another level.

And there is a significance to the baby siblings' birth as they mark the first meerkat babies to be born in the Sydney zoo in almost seven years.

Cheers all round!

The babies were born on January 7 and in the last few weeks have been very busy exploring their surroundings.

Though zoo officials don't know the sex of the babies officially yet (that will be determined in a health check up later this week), they reckon one is a girl and one is a boy.

What a precious pair.

While these types of videos are hard to watch, we reckon they have to be seen in order to see the amazing work done by rescue centres in Ireland.

While this rescue dog had a happy ending, not all of them do.

A video released by PAWS Animal Rescue Ireland showed the terrible state of a rescue dog that had been abandoned on a roadside in Kilkenny last summer.

The dog was so scared and traumatised that he could do nothing but cower against a wall as a rescuer attempted to comfort him.

WHAT had made her like this ??? There are some nasty evil Bas***ds out there

Posted by PAWS Animal Rescue Ireland on Thursday, July 23, 2015

"It was clear that whatever had happened to her in her short lived life, had so badly traumatised her, she couldn’t even bare to move or look at her surroundings," read the strongly-worded caption to the video posted on Facebook.

Thankfully though, the female dog named Cara was adopted and swiftly began to regain her confidence and trust in humans.

She even made a doggy friend in her new home and this 'after' video shows all the progress she has made.

Shy?? Not anymore Cara (Angel)

"We have been sent this fantastic video of Cara," says the new proud owners.

"From the nervous wreck she was in the first video to now. It makes us so very happy."

It makes us super happy too.

She may be a bit wobbly on her paws, but that would not stop us from adopting this adorable kitten.

Meet Olive, the gorgeous black and white rescue kitten who kind of looks like a drunk person when she attempts to move.

But don't fear, Olive hasn't been having a few cheeky cans in the shelter, she suffers from a neurological disorder called Cerebellar Hypoplasia also know as Wobbly Cat Syndrome.

Say hello to Olive! She is a sweet girl that we believe has Wobbly Kitten Syndrome, a neurological disorder that affects her ability to move properly, but we will confirm this after her vet appointment this week. Olive does not let her condition stand in her way! She is very much a normal and playful kitten. Olive enjoys playing with various toys and objects, loves quality time spent with her person, and adores attention. This loving kitten is hoping to find her forever home where she can be loved and cherished daily!! #adoptdontshop #wataugahumanesociety #wobbly #kittensofinstagram #boonenc

While she is in no pain and will live a normal live, she will always be just a tad unsteady on her feet. But lucky for her, her quirkiness will probably see her land a great forever home.

This video posted by the Watauga Humane Society in the States has raked up nearly a million views and now thousands of people want to adopt the shaky kitty.

"Say hello to Olive! She is a sweet girl that has a neurological disorder that affects her ability to move properly," says the video caption.

Hello, friends! Olive is doing great!! Her vet appointment confirmed she does have Wobbly Kitten Syndrome, also known as…

Manny the cat might not have a glam squad or a reality TV show, but he still gives the Kardashian-Jenners a run for their money.

Why? Well, his selfie game is 100% on point.

Manny's owner, Instagram user @yoremahm, has a collection of GoPro cameras which the cute feline is apparently "fascinated" by.

So much so that he can't resist reaching out and pushing the buttons every once in a while, resulting in a hilarious collection of cat selfies, often featuring Manny's pals – a motley crew of dogs.

"He is the boss of the dogs," Manny's owner told per site Love Meow.

Amazing.

Here are a few of his best snaps:

As a general rule, for every fashion forward blogger we follow on Instagram we must balance things out with any account involving pugs, cats, or delicious food.

So naturally, when we stumbled across @berkavitch we were absolutely delighted. It is comedy gold.

Also, it features cats. Many cats.

All of which are mostly one shape and size, but that is in fact what makes it so fantastic.

Let us all take a moment to appreciate the expression on that feline's face. It is the face you make when you wake up and look at all the texts you sent the night before.

John Berkavitch is described as a “Rapper, vandal, educator and surrealist” on his website. He is also a “human beatbox”.

Last year his gig in Edinburgh featured “three breakdancers with umbrellas who stand in as Berkavitch's subconscious and sometimes his conscience.”

His Slam Poetry champion has toured across the world at literary festivals.

John also managed to find the time in between all of these appearances (which included a TEDx talk) to discover his other passion. Photographing giant cats from around the world.

Ok fine, these are not actually super-sized cats, more like a nifty camera trick.

He uses the hashtag #MeAndCats, so now you know what to look for the next time you’re in the market for some giant cat pictures.

We did wonder though, are these cats really giant cats or is John just a very tall man?

While we were unable to get an measure of John's height, it is safe to say these cats are probably not cat-giant hybrids.

One time he held kittens and made us question everything.

However, his website also has the complete collection of his cat photos, to be found in the section cleverly titled ‘Me and Cats’.

He describes it, quite neatly as “basically me and various cats from around the world.”

A description that hides the true majesty to found hiding in the #MeAndCats collection. Just look at that fetching manbun and ginger cat ensemble.

There’s probably nothing worse than getting an early case of the mid-week blues. Actually, it doesn’t matter when it happens, being in a less than stellar mood is just no good.

So, in efforts to help cheer up anyone who might be feeling a little gloomy, we went and searched for something that is proven to boost your mood. The people at Reddit started a thread titled ‘What’s a warm and fluffy truth?’ a year ago and since then some absolute gems have come along.

We put together a short list of some of the facts that instantly made us smile.

We have scientists to thank for an awful lot of things, but most recently they are responsible for abundance of adorable animal photos taking over social media.

It began with some bat-eared foxes and baby bears competing to be the world’s cutest baby animal. Things then escalated very quickly when a tiny sea turtle entered the competition, and also a squirrel glider.

Then everything got very out of hand but we really really don’t want it stop.

Competitors are not just limited to small animals either:

Even the non-fluffy types are vying for attention.

We honestly didn’t know baby fish were capable of being this adorable.

This might be one of the best trends yet.

Just yesterday a helpful birdwatcher in the UK was out doing his bird watching thing, when he noticed some unusual farm animal activity.

Ian Ellis, 67, was out walking when he couldn’t help but notice some cows acting strangely. Ellis used his trusty telescope (of course) to discover that the cows were all gathered around a particular area and acting very inquisitive.

What were they looking at? A tiny seal pup who had been separated from their mother.

"There are seals on the edge of the marsh but it was the way the cows were so inquisitive that made me look,” Ian said.

The pup, only 5 days old, was separated from her mom, and waddled her way out of the stream nearby into the field. She then found herself in the middle of field.

Naturally, the whole scenario was incredibly adorable. Even more so because the pup was rescued and whisked off to safety.

Ian contacted Skegness Natureland who advised him on how to handle the pup before their staff could come and collect her.

“Once we got the pup back to Natureland, she went straight into the Seal Hospital to begin treatment,” Richard Yeadon of Natureland told the Daily Mail.

“Her main problem is that at only five days old she was orphaned and therefore had not fed for a while. She had lost quite a lot of weight and was dehydrated.”

Skegness Natureland celebrates their 50th birthday this year. So they decided that Celebration would be the perfect name for the little seal pup.

For the time being Celebration is going to be on a high-fat diet before she can be released into the wild. Natureland are responsible for rescuing 30 to 50 seals every year.

This amazing story is about to give you ALL of the feels – don’t say we didn’t warn you!

Little Sissy, from Cedar Rapids in Iowa, US was having a really hard time missing his owner Nancy who was recovering from surgery following a cancer diagnosis.

Nancy’s husband, Dale was alarmed to find that he couldn’t find beloved 11-year-old Sissy anywhere: “I kept checking everywhere, calling out, ‘Sissy! Sissy!’ I was pulling my hair out.”

Nobody was prepared for where Sissy eventually turned up – fifteen blocks away from her home at the hospital where her owner, Nancy was recovering! Samantha Conrad, security at the hospital, called the number on the owner’s collar tag to which Nancy and Dale’s daughter, Sarah answered and went to fetch the brave dog.

Thankfully, Sissy DID get to visit her mama, with Nancy describing: “I asked ‘Did you sneak this dog in?’ Sarah said ‘No [Sissy] snuck herself in. She set the door off – she got in by herself too. So, she was on a mission.”

Now the only mystery that remains is how perceptive Sissy knew exactly where to find his owner so far from home, as Dale explains they never walked that route before: “The only thing I could think of was that Sissy used to ride with me to pick up my wife from work next door to the hospital. But we’ve never waked that route before.”

Such an amazing story – and dog, too!

We love a good animal story and this one is super cute!

Gardaí  at Finglas Garda Station found a cat in the yard yesterday and obviously decided to bring it inside while the owner was being located. However, their act of kindness may have backfired as now the cat is refusing to leave – we love it!

Taking to Twitter, the official Garda account wrote: “Cat found in the yard of Finglas station today. Won’t leave. It’s a young cat. Owner can collect it from the station.”

It didn’t take long for hilarity to ensue with people suggesting he may be a ‘cat burglar’ (geddit?) and others suggesting they keep the cat.

Here are some of our favourite tweets about Finglas Garda Station’s brand new pet:

Brilliant! What a gorgeous cat, we hope he finds his owner soon!

This is officially the cutest animal video you will see all day. When this dog sees his owner coming to collect him from what looks like a doggy day-care centre, he simply cannot contain his excitement and begins doing the cutest dance we have ever seen.

He doesn't end things there though – he then begins jumping up and down as he sees his owner coming towards him – so much love.
