We could easily spend hours lusting over all of the stunning homes on Airbnb. There are just so many beautiful properties dotted across the globe that we need to visit.

This summer is the busiest summer yet here in Ireland, with approximately 640,000 guests using Airbnb.

Airbnb is celebrating ten years in operation globally today. In honour of the momentous occasion, they have shared ten of the most wish listed properties on their site and we want to stay in them all.

If any of you are secretly rich then you need to book a stay at one of these wonderful spots. We are itching to jet off but we might need to enter the lotto first.

10: Waterfront with an extraordinary view, Kotor, Montenegro:

This waterfront terrace would make for the dream reading spot. You could spend the day soaking up the sun and delving into the pages of your favourite novel. This apartment is one of the most popular Airbnbs in Europe due to the incredible view of two Bay of Kotor islands.

9: The Cozy Palace, Marrakech, Morocco:

According to guests, the pictures of this spot simply don’t do it justice so we’ll just have to visit it in person. This restored riad features striking tiled archways and is the perfect place to unwind.

8: Off-grid ItHouse, Yucca Valley, CA, USA:

The house of California dreams. This peaceful destination is the perfect place to escape the dull realities of everyday. The desert location has no WiFi so you can enjoy a well-needed social media detox.

7: Bamboo-Eco cottage in Rice Fields, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia:

Be at one with nature in this heavenly bamboo hut. You can gaze at the fireflies above the rice fields at night. This place would be perfect for a romantic getaway, you know if your other half was a millionaire.

6: Dreamy Tropical Treehouse, Fern Forest, Hawaii:

This secluded jungle canopy is an introverts dream place. The treehouse is located on the outskirts of the Big Island’s Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which makes your stay that little bit more exciting, but totally safe.

5: Luxurious Sone Villa in Crete, Greece:

Belinda Carlisle once said heaven is a place on earth and we think this may be the place she was talking about. The house is carved from natural rock and features a balcony that overlooks Kissamos Bay.

4: Hideout Bali Eco Bamboo Home, Bali, Indonesia:

The second Bali location that features on the wish list. Guests have nothing but praise for this serene spot. However, you need to be well organised if you want to stay here. Guests have to book six months in advance of their stay because the spot is so popular.

3:Romantic Cabana with a view, Armenia, Colombia:

These properties just get prettier and prettier so prepare yourself to get bitten by the travel bug. This spot is said to be the best location for exploring Colombia’s coffee region so if you’re a coffee addict like us then you have to add it to your list. The view from this cabana will certainly take your breath away.

2: Hector Cave House, Santorini,  Greece:

We’ve become obsessed with Greece since the release of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again so it comes as no surprise to see this Santorini cave house appear on the list. It’s carved into the caldera cliff and has a view that looks like it came straight from a dream.

1: I Sette Coni – Trullo Edera, Ostuni, Italy:

And finally we reach the number one place on our list and we are swooning more than ever before. This quirky house has a rustic feel to it that makes it the most wishlisted place on Airbnb. The greatest thing about this location is the price. It costs a mere $81 per night so if you need us we’ll be booking a month long stay at this divine spot.

Fancy a holiday with a bit of a difference?

One that is off the traditional tourist routes… like way off?

A trip that you'll be talking about at every night out? Well, then this experience sounds like it will be right up your street.

To celebrate the fact that Mars will be the closest it has been to Earth in 15 years on July 27th, two Airbnb hosts will be offering a one-of-a-kind experience to get up close to the Red Planet from one of the world’s largest telescopes, the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC).

Located in La Palma, Spain, six guests will join hosts Juan Antonio González, a local astronomy guide, and Antonio Luis Cabrera, the leader of scientific operations at GTC, to learn the importance of preserving the sky through the lens of the largest single-aperture optical and infrared telescope in the world.

Guests will enjoy the ultimate planetary experience by observing – and photographing! – polar ice caps and dust storms on Mars, all while marvelling at the longest lunar eclipse in the 21st century.

If you can't make next Friday don't worry, Airbnb, who have seen a huge growth in astro-tourism, has nearly 3,000 homes equipped with telescopes and unique, astro experiences on the platform.

In fact, scores of listings on the platform include “stargazing” in their description, highlighting it as the perfect spot to take in the skies.

The US ranks as the number one country with the most astro-tourism friendly listings, like the Folly in Twentynine Palms, CA, the Desert Retreat in Pioneertown, CA, and the Dome in the Desert in Joshua Tree, which is the community that offers the most listings globally perfect for stargazing.

Airbnb is part and parcel of a trip away – and there's nothing better than being enveloped in the privacy of an authentic international homestead while you're away.

For those who jet off with their other half, or opt for a holiday fling, holiday sex could be part of that experience.

Airbnb Confessions: Examining Guest Behavior During Their Stays by House Method asked over 1,000 Airbnb uses about their sexual habits while on tour, and over half of them said they engaged in sex while away.

The guests who reporting having sex during their Airbnb stays said that their most frequent freak'um spot was in the shower.

Enjoy thinking about that next time your having a quick wash during your next international excursion.

27.9% of those surveyed said the shower – which we guess is considerate seeing as Airbnb hosts have to take charge of laundering the bed sheets.

Along with the shower, the couch saw quite a bit of action with 22.5% of couples saying this is was their sexy spot of choice for getting it on.

Airbnb users with hot tubs and pools are also fond of an underwater rendezvous, with 10% reporting sexing it up in the hot tub, and a further 6% confessing to having pool sex.

3% of the cheekiest said they have even got it on on the kitchen table.

So your flights are booked and now all you have to do is find you dream Airbnb that suits your group, city and budget.

Previously, Airbnb bookers had to pay the entire cost of their accommodation when choosing their holiday rental, but now, the holiday home site is giving city breakers the opportunity to spread the cost.

Today, Airbnb has launched their Pay Less Up Front initiative, a new feature that allows guests to spread the cost of their holiday booking over two instalments.

A post shared by Airbnb (@airbnb) on

In order to secure their reservation, guests are now able to pay part of the cost of their accommodation expense on the day of booking, rather than the full sum.

The remainder of the balance will then be paid closer to the time of check-in.

'We understand it can be difficult to pay for all of your holiday upfront, especially in January when the purse-strings have to be held particularly tight, said James McClure, General Manager for UK and Ireland at Airbnb.

A post shared by Airbnb (@airbnb) on

'That’s why we’ve introduced our new feature which allows you to get holidays booked in advance – to make sure you don’t lose out when it comes to annual leave – then make the main payment for your holiday closer to your actual trip.'

Previously, Airbnb guests paid the entire sum up front when booking online.

This will definitely come in handy for all the holidays January has us dreaming of.

In July of this year, the most sought-after listing on Airbnb was established.

And it turns out that a treehouse – yep, an actual treehouse –  in Atlanta was officially the most requested listing on the super-popular property website.

And this week, the story has resurfaced again, so in case you missed it the first time around, let's take a look at the magical abode which was built by Peter Bahouth almost two decades ago.

Described as a 'Secluded Intown Treehouse', the accommodation boasts 'three beautifully furnished rooms set among the trees'.

'Just minutes from downtown, this secluded property is an urban retreat like no other. The treehouse provides an intimate, simple and calming retreat for 2 people,' the listing continues.

With a nod to their new-found fame, the owners add: "The treehouse is the subject of innumerable articles, blogs and was recently featured on Treehouse Masters Ultimate Treehouses and Today Show video."

Reviews for the listing have been wholly positive, with one Airbnb member writing: "Peter and Katie's treehouse is absolutely perfect. We couldn't have imagined how beautiful it is in person and how relaxed you feel from the moment you arrive."

"What a truly magical experience. So relaxing and much needed getaway weekend!" added another.

"Peter and Katie's treehouse left us speechless. We arrived at night and we just couldn't believe that we were going to spend the weekend celebrating our 3 year anniversary in this magical treehouse.," gushed another.

Yep, that is the sound of us booking flights…

One of our favourite hobbies is turning the price up as high as it can go on Airbnb and fake shopping for our perfect holiday home.

As well as indulging our 'apartment goals' hobby, the short-term rental site also provides us with handy, affordable accommodation options that are oftentimes cheaper than a hotel equivalent.

The site is massively popular, but this has attracted scammers to the website who hope to take advantage of eager holiday makers.

One such scam is currently occurring, according to CNN

Some unfortunate wanderlusters are trying to book Airbnbs but actually booking themselves in for a scam. Scammers are posting listings for homes that they don't own, but pretend that they do.

Then when an unwitting renter enquires about the home, the fake host redirects them sneakily to an external site to pay the deposit, but the money actually goes straight in the scammer's pocket.

Then when the time comes, the holiday maker rocks up to a home in another country expecting to be met by their Airbnb host, only to find a perplexed homeowner wondering why a random tourist is at their door.

Airbnb describes this phishing as 'a type of scam in which someone will send an email or link that is made to look like it's from Airbnb or another trusted site.'

'These messages are designed to trick you into providing confidential information such as passwords or other email addresses and may contain malware, which is malicious software that gains access to your computer to gather your personal information, including passwords.'

Or just to take your money, as the latest wave seems to be doing.

'If a host on the Airbnb site asks you to pay off-site, report it to us by flagging the message—just look for the flag icon in your message thread,' says Airbnb.

'If you receive a personal email from anyone (including an automated@airbnb.com or any other username@airbnb.com email address) asking you to pay or accept payment off-site, let us know immediately.'

So if you are planning on getting an Airbnb, make sure you are not redirected to another site, and never give your email or contact details to any hosts who ask for them.

Dublin City Council is currently investigating a number of unregistered Airbnbs in Dublin City.

There are up to 25 suspected cases of homes and apartments being illegally used as Airbnbs for tourists, according to The Irish Times.

The site boasts 6,700 registered properties for rent in Dublin alone, according to figures published by The Journal.

Dublin City Council’s planning enforcement department is taking action after receiving a number of complaints about the suspected illegal Airbnbs.

The homes involved in the complaints are short-term rentals without planning permission.

Most of these are apartments.

Dublin County Council said that the short term rental market has an 'adverse effect' on the housing crisis.

The Swedish tourism board have just pulled the marketing stunt to top all marketing stunts.

The entire country has just been listed on Airbnb as part of Visit Sweden’s latest tourism campaign.

The idea is based around the Swedish legal principle of ‘freedom to roam’, which states that anybody in the country has the right to enjoy and explore the natural landscape in all its glory.

From cosy beech forests to rugged cliffs shaped by the ice sheet, Sweden's natural landmarks are more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.

Just take a look.

Speaking about the campaign, Jenny Kaiser, the USA Country Manager at Visit Sweden said, ''This is made possible thanks to a Swedish right guaranteed by the constitution – freedom to roam. This right enables the Swedish people to experience nature and enjoy the beautiful Swedish wildlife.''

''In Sweden we have everything from high mountains to deep forests, from beautiful archipelagos to quiet meadows. Now, together with Airbnb, we welcome everyone to come to Sweden and, through freedom to roam, share our wonderful nature.''

When visiting the page, users are given the option to click a 'Visit Sweden' button which then redirects them to a website packed with videos, interviews and travel tips.

Well played Sweden, we're now all dying to visit.

Following the implementation of President Trump's hugely controversial travel ban last month, Brian Chesky resolved to use his position as CEO of Airbnb to assist those who have been displaced by the executive order.

And it sounds like it is paying off.

According to emerging reports this week, more than 100 people who were affected by the ban have, so far, found free housing around the world with the help of the global organisation.

In addition to this, more than 5,000 people have offered to to provide accommodation to displaced people free of charge.

The figures, which were released this week, are representative of the company's aim to assist those in crisis, with recent reports illustrating the extent to which the organisation has assisted the vulnerable in society.

"Airbnb says it has provided ‘over 3,000 nights’ of free housing to relief workers and donated $1 million to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees," BuzzFeed reported last month.

"The company also invites hosts to ‘offer warm meals/ to refugee families, an initiative it plans to expand in 2017."

Since 2013, Airbnb have provided those in crisis with accommodation while hosts have the option of volunteering their homes.
