Millie Bobby Brown has been spilling some details about her upcoming wedding!

The Stranger Things star, who is best known for her role as Eleven in the Netflix phenomenon, is currently engaged to Jake Bongiovi.

After the couple announced their engagement back in April, speculation has been mounting about how Millie and Jake’s big day will unfold.

In particular, many fans have been wondering if legendary singer Jon Bon Jovi, who is Jake’s father, will dedicate a performance to the young lovebirds during their wedding.

In an interview with TODAY With Hoda & Jenna, Millie was asked if she will be anticipating a performance from her future father-in-law.

"I feel like that’s asking me to go and, like, do like a full-on play for everyone,” the 19-year-old teased in her reply.

“I think the man needs a break. He doesn’t stop. He’s always doing tennis or singing lessons. I think he needs a break," the Enola Holmes actress explained.

Hosts Hoda and Jenna then went on to joke that Jon could "just be the father of the groom."

“Exactly, that would be wild. I don’t know if he’ll be able to be just that,” Millie laughed.

Regardless of whether or not the Livin’ on a Prayer hitmaker ends up performing, the bride-to-be couldn’t help but gush over her wedding plans.

"It’s a very intimate day for the both of us and we’re really both very excited,” Millie stated.

Fans of the Stranger Things actress were delighted on April 11 when Millie subtly announced that she got engaged to Jake, two years into the pair’s romance.

Millie chose to reveal her news by posting a black-and-white snap to Instagram, showcasing the couple locked in a happy embrace on a beach, with the diamond ring sparkling on her left hand.

“I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all,” Millie penned in her caption at the time, in reference to the Taylor Swift song Lover.

When it comes to food storage, choosing the fridge vs cupboard is an age-old debate that continues to divide kitchens across the country. There have long been debates between friends, siblings, partners, and colleagues over the topic that is dubbed ‘Store Wars’.

Too Good To Go, the social impact company responsible for the world's largest food waste app, with over 400,000 registered users in Ireland, is here to address common food waste issues and provide solutions. In the 20 months since its launch here, this innovative app has allowed users to save unsold food from restaurants and retailers at a reduced cost, preventing it from going to waste. Notably, more than 1,600 Irish businesses including SuperValu, Fresh, Costa, Starbucks, Cafe Nero and Sprout are already part of the initiative.

According to new research commissioned by Too Good To Go, people in Ireland and the UK are divided on where you should store different items, particularly when it comes to chocolate, eggs and ketchup. The research conducted found that over half of people are wrongly storing ketchup in the kitchen cupboard and almost a third are incorrectly storing chocolate in the fridge. The research also found that over a third of people are storing their eggs in the cupboard, impacting freshness and shelf life.

But it’s not just these three items causing kitchen calamities as almost 1 in 10 people admit to storing olive oil in the fridge, a whopping 1 in 10 are storing cucumbers and strawberries in the cupboard and almost 1 in 5 people are storing potatoes and bread in the fridge! Not only are we storing food wrong but worryingly, 2 in 5 people are defrosting meat at room temperature and 21% of people believe food should never be eaten past its best before date which is also causing food to go to waste.

As well as looking at what items are being stored and how, Too Good To Go also conducted research on where people are sourcing information on how to store food at home with findings suggesting that storage habits are being passed through generations as people look to their families most (59%) for guidance, which is far more common than looking to government advice (13%) and even product packaging (46%).

These common misconceptions on how to store food at home mean that a staggering 65% of people are throwing away up to six edible food items per week and with food waste accounting for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions it is a worrying figure when looking at the environmental impact of food waste.

As the winter months approach, the issue only gets worse. Over a third of people do not change how they store their food in the summer months vs the cooler months and nearly 1 in 5 people would like more information on the best ways to store their food in the winter months. It’s clear an education is needed as half (49%) of Gen Z and millennials claim they do not know how to adapt food storage habits when the weather changes.

Top Tips:

Eggs – Fridge: Eggs should be stored in a cool, dry place – ideally in the fridge. Keeping the eggs in the cold will make them last longer, but make sure you keep them near the back of your fridge as constant changes in temperature can make them go off more quickly.

Chocolate – Cupboard: The fridge tends to increase humidity which is not good for chocolate. So, the best place to keep your chocolate is in any cool, dark place – making a kitchen cupboard the ideal spot.

Ketchup – Fridge: Once opened, tomato ketchup should be kept in the fridge to maintain its freshness and make sure it tastes as great as possible! Don’t worry if you are on the go though, the acidity of the condiment preserves it whilst it’s out of the fridge.

Veggies – Fridge: Certain vegetables like cucumber, celery or carrots can go soft and lose their crunch if left for a while. To avoid this, simply chop into sticks and place in a jar of cold water in your fridge (make sure it’s airtight!). Just remember to change the water every day or so to maintain the freshness. Top tip: this hack also works to revive vegetables that have already softened!

Bananas – Fridge / Fruit Bowl: It may be convenient, but by storing your bananas all together in one bunch, each banana will ripen at the same time, meaning you've either got to eat all your bananas at once or risk throwing away the rotten ones. Here's a solution: Break up the bunch. Keep some in the fruit bowl on the counter to ripen and store other bananas in the fridge to delay the ripening process.

Sliced Bread – Fridge: If you save sliced bread, remember to store it in the fridge when you get home. This way it will last much longer, extending its expiration date. Always remember to use your senses before consuming it – look, smell, taste!

Olive Oil – Cupboard: Make sure olive oil is stored in a dark, dry, and cool cupboard out of direct sunlight and heat. Storing the oil in the fridge could mean that it takes on the flavours of surrounding foods – the last thing you want is a cheesy oil!

Potatoes – Cupboard: Potatoes should be stored in a cool, dark place (often in a paper bag works well) to preserve freshness and prevent them turning green. Onions and potatoes often go hand in hand in recipes, but they’re also often mistakenly stored together. Onions can make root vegetables go bad quickly, so make sure to keep them separate.

Fresh Bread – Cupboard: Cloth bags are the best option for storing bread. In this way it will maintain its properties better. As bread loses its moisture, it becomes drier but , if you add a piece of unpeeled potato inside the bag, it will help your bread last longer.

Camilla Thurlow has been speaking out about the pressure that mums face nowadays.

The former Love Island star, who appeared in the villa back in 2017, shares two daughters with her husband Jamie- two-year-old Nell and one-year-old Nora.

Opening up about her motherhood experience, Camilla has shared an insight into the pressures that mums face today, whether they are in the spotlight or not.

A post shared by Jamie Jewitt (@jamiejewitt_)

While speaking to OK!, the 34-year-old explained, “Whether you're in the spotlight or not, there is so much pressure on making sure you do the right thing as a mum”.

“You just want to know your baby is happy, and that they’re soothed and comforted. Once you figure out what's right for your family, in terms of a routine, it's important to focus on that”.

“Not all babies are the same and not all families are the same – it's about finding the right thing for you”.

Revealing how she and her Love Island sweetheart Jamie parent their daughters, Camilla said, “Jamie and I are a team. It’s good to be a team, especially if it's going to be the two of them versus the two of us”.

Thurlow also spoke about the pressure of adapting to life as a mum-of-two when her second child was born.

“I think everything comes down to timing. Nell was born during lockdown and there were obviously restrictions in place, so we didn't really get to see anyone when she was first born. It was an amazing time but also very overwhelming trying to get used to such a big change in your life”.

"Then, when Nora came along, I felt like I knew what to expect. Having that experience really helped me because I'm a planner and I like to know what's happening”.

She continued, “Babies are unpredictable but having support around me the second time around made me feel prepared. I always had chocolate bars to hand for the midnight feed”.

Camilla then chatted about the small age gap between her girls, admitting that she loves how close in age they are.

“I love that they're close in age. It's adorable to see them interacting with each other. They've got completely different personalities but are always laughing away with each other. I’m so excited to think about all the fun times that are ahead of us. We feel really lucky as a family”.

Ready to return to the Games?

We finally have a second trailer for The Hunger Games' upcoming prequel movie!

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to be released in cinemas worldwide in just two months’ time. Ahead of its premiere, the makers behind the highly anticipated film have treated fans to a second full-length trailer:

For those who don’t know, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was first released as a standalone novel back in 2020. The story takes place 64 years before Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) would step into the arena in the first Hunger Games movie.

This time, author Suzanne Collins has given Hunger Games fans the opportunity to learn the true backstory of the franchise’s villain, Coriolanus Snow.

Set decades before Snow would become the president of Panem, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes focuses on the 10th annual Hunger Games, in which an 18-year-old Snow (played by Tom Blyth) is appointed as a mentor for the tributes of District 12.

Credit: Lionsgate

Snow soon begins to develop feelings for the district’s female tribute, defiant Lucy Gray Baird (played by Rachel Zegler). As he prepares Lucy to fight for her life in the Games, Snow also starts to wonder if he can turn the odds in their favour.

"Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy's race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake,” the team behind the upcoming prequel tease.

Previous Hunger Games director, Francis Lawrence, has returned for the fifth installment in the franchise. Alongside Blyth and Zegler, the cast has been rounded out by several other stars such as Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera and Viola Davis.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is due to be released in cinemas on November 17.

The brand, which is the brainchild of Dingle-based fashion designer Frances Fogarty, creates unique handcrafted beachwear, including swim ponchos, hoodies, beach dresses, tops, shorts, and bucket hats using upcycled cotton towels and end-of-line fabrics.

LilyMais was launched less than 2-years ago and has gone from strength to strength with customers from Sydney to California and everywhere in between. Until now, LilyMais was exclusively shoppable online from the brand’s website. “The decision to open a retail store is a real vote of confidence both in the changing habits of consumers and in Dingle as a growing tourist destination,” says Fogarty.

The new store was officially launched by designer to the stars and Kerry native Don O’Neill on Saturday 16th September. The 1,200 sqft shop and studio space with its 1,400 sqft rooftop terrace boasts spectacular views across Dingle Town, Marina, and the surrounding landscape, which have been the source of much inspiration for brand founder Frances Fogarty. Customers will also be able to choose their patterns and colours and have a custom LilyMais piece created by Frances in the studio.

Don O’Neill, Frances Fogarty & Pascal Guillermie at the store opening

Speaking about the motivation to open the store, Fogarty said, “Designing and making in a quiet and remote studio, which has been my modus operandi up to now, can be quite isolating! I love the design and the creative process, but I also love interacting with my customers. That’s probably the main driver behind deciding to open a physical store. I knew the very second I walked into the space in Dingle Marina that I wanted to be here. Just visit the store, and you will see why! It’s bright and airy with spectacular views that change hourly depending on the weather, the tides, the time of day – a beautiful space where I can interact with customers and share my passion for the Circular Economy.”

So, what is the Circular Economy? “Most products, from cars to shoes, from cookers to phones, are designed to be linear. They are designed to last a relatively short time and to be discarded at the end of their useful life,” explains Fogarty’s business partner and husband, Feargal Ó Cinnéide.

“As an example, cars were designed to only last ten years! Crazy when you think about it! Twenty years ago, the Irish Government even paid you to scrap 10-year-old cars. Now, cars are being designed not only to last longer but designed to be recycled into new cars. That is circularity.”

The problem with fashion, Fogarty says, is that most items are still being manufactured linearly. “They are being designed to go to landfill as quickly as possible. That’s how the industry makes its money. Our goal with LilyMais is to be an example of how the fashion industry can exist in harmony with the environment and how we can extend the life of existing materials to create something new.”

All LilyMais products are unique – no two will ever be the same. Each product is made from upcycled materials (even their labels are embroidered in-house using old denim jeans). Each item is designed so that when returned to the Dingle workshop at end-of-life, they can and will be dismantled with parts reused in her new creations.

The LilyMais store is now open Monday-Sunday from 11.00 am to 7.00 pm for customers to shop the collection, meet the maker, and even design their own pieces.

LilyMais items start from €85 for bucket hats through to €250 for hand-painted swim ponchos.

Opening hours are 10.00 am to 7.00 pm daily during the Spring / Summer / Autumn months and 11.00 am to 5.00 pm Wednesday to Sunday during Winter months.

Visit LilyMais at LilyMais, Dingle Marina, Dingle, Co. Kerry V92 FW2P to shop the latest collection, or visit www.lilymais.com.
