Mrs Hinch has been opening up about her son Ron.

The cleaning guru, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, has previously been candid with her audience about her son Ron’s struggles with speech.

Now, the 32-year-old mum has gone into detail about her thoughts on her son’s journey, and how it has affected them both.

Speaking on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast with host Giovanna Fletcher, Sophie recalled the “cut-throat” moment during Ron’s two-year check-up when she was told that he had speech issues.

“My first, Ron, had speech delay, so we went through a lot of speech therapy and still go to it,” the mum-of-two explained. “For me, I obviously wasn’t prepared for that, but I didn’t know.”

Sophie recalled that she couldn’t help comparing her two sons when her youngest child, Len, was born. “When I had Len, I didn’t know any different, so when Len started saying these words that I’d waited years to hear from Ron, I couldn’t believe it. I was like, ‘How beautiful’”.

“But at the same time, it makes no difference, you know?”, she continued. “At the end of the day, their own time is the perfect time, and Ron spoke when he wanted to speak. He was just taking it all in.”

Sophie went on to explain heartwarmingly that despite Ron’s difficulty to form words, she always knew what her son was saying. “If I never had a word from him, ever, I knew what he was thinking anyway,” she said proudly, referring to her bond as a “mother’s instinct”.

“He could look at me, make a sound and I knew what it meant,” she gushed.

Now, at the age of three, Sophie confirmed that Ron’s speech has dramatically improved. “These words have come out of nowhere, and I sit there and I melt,” she beamed.

Today, February 7, is the 20th anniversary of Safer Internet Day. With many of us using the internet as part of our everyday lives from posting on social media, working from home and shopping in our favourite online retailers, we use the internet a lot.

As today is Safer Internet Day, the Gardaí Twitter account has shared some tips and tricks on how to ensure you’re being as safe as you can while being online.

With an emphasis on keeping your data safe, Gardaí have said, “Be careful what you post online and be aware of unsolicited offers or requests”.

Another tip they shared was to hover over any links and don’t click on them instantly.

They also said, “Update systems and passwords regularly and backup data separately and securely”.

With a theme of ‘Together for a better internet’, the organisers of Safer Internet Day explained what the day is and why they celebrate it.

“Safer Internet Day is a call to action for every stakeholder to contribute to a safer and better internet, especially for its youngest users”.

Their aim is to highlight, “The importance of ensuring that the largest possible number of users, and especially children and young people are adequately prepared to handle digital technologies responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively”.

As many people use the same passwords across multiple online platforms and don’t backup data or use two-step authentication tools, today is a good day to remember to update all of these aspects of your internet presence to make sure you are staying safe online.

Webwise, one of Ireland’s Safer Internet Day partners, are promoting respect and inclusivity online to keep in theme with this year’s event.

They explained, “Bullying and abuse can have very serious negative consequences for those involved, and it is an issue that as a society we are still struggling to deal with”.

“Webwise will be calling people in Ireland to get together for a better internet, and to create a more respectful and inclusive online environment”.

James Haskell has revealed the reason for his baby daughter Bodhi’s recent hospital visit.

Fans of James and his wife Chloe Madeley were brought into concern when, a few weeks ago, they shared the news that their daughter was unwell.

The pair welcomed baby Bodhi into the world in August of last year, making them parents for the first time. However, their first few months of parenthood have been far from smooth sailing.

Speaking to OK!, James decided to tell all about the stressful and worrying illness that resulted in Bodhi being brought to hospital.

The former rugby player recalled that he was working away in Wales at the time, when he received a concerning 4am phone call from wife Chloe, to tell him that Bodhi had an extremely low temperature.

"The doctors told Chloe what to give her and she settled. I came back the next night. Chloe was very upset,” he explained. “The baby was very ill and then her temperature was fluctuating between 34 and 35, which is hypothermic."

The 37-year-old dad went on to detail how he coped with the situation. "Chloe is amazing. I'm very practical. I’m not prone to panicking. I imagine if Bodhi’s breathing was laboured, I would have been [panicked],” he admitted.

“But she was just very ill and cold, she wasn't struggling to breathe. I’m aware of the signs,” he added.

After a few trips to the hospital, doctors confirmed to the new parents that Bodhi did not have meningitis or sepsis.

"I was pretty confident that we were doing everything we could possibly do. The tests came back, her bloods were okay – she just had bad flu,” James confirmed.

On her Instagram stories at the time, 35-year-old mum Chloe made a heartfelt post about how little Bodhi’s illness had affected her.

"I’m also amazed at how much it has impacted my sleep and work load, and how hard the last 5 days have been,” she penned.

"I just want to say to any and all mothers out there who have to make these kinds of trips and deal with these kinds of things on a regular basis, that I am in AWE of you,” Chloe added.

We’re glad that Bodhi is feeling better!

Today, Currys Ireland launched ‘Quiet Hour’ which will take place in all stores every Monday to Friday* until 11am. For the first hour of the day, the electrical retailer will be reducing noise in-store, keeping lights low and making sure there are no flashing screens to ensure a calmer place to shop, better supporting neurodiverse customers.

This new initiative replaces the weekly autism friendly evenings, launched in autumn 2022. ‘Quiet Hour’ builds on its predecessor’s success by increasing the frequency to Monday through to Friday and targeting all those with an invisible disability.

To support the launch, Currys has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network, giving customers a discreet way to signify that they have an invisible disability and may need some help and extra time. The Sunflower lanyards will be available for customers to pick up in any of the 16 Currys stores across Ireland.

The electrical giant understands that for our neurodiverse customers, while tech plays a vital role in their lives, going into a Currys store with all the flashing lights, loud noises and tech displays can be daunting.

Currys Quiet Hour is a dedicated time where we change the shopping experience in-store to be more accessible for certain customer groups who may be impacted by different sounds, lighting and sensations in store. This is most beneficial for neurodiverse customers who have conditions such as ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism and many others. It’s estimated that 1 in 7 people in Ireland have a disability and 80% of these are non-visible disabilities. Currys are working towards ensuring the needs of all of their customer base are met. Currys are working with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower who specialise in hidden disabilities, and they will help better support these customers. Currys will also continue to support their charity partner, service dog charity My Canine Companion in their work with children with autism and their families through fundraising and awareness activations.

Kenny Cosgrove, Head of Retail at Currys Ireland commented:

“I am really proud of the ‘Quiet Hour’ initiative, which shows our commitment to making Currys a place where everyone feels comfortable to shop. Since beginning our partnership with service dog charity My Canine Companion in 2021, we as a business have put diversity and inclusion to the forefront of our agenda. Feedback from the weekly autism awareness evenings was overwhelmingly positive so we’ve extended this experience to weekdays and to focus on all our neurodiverse customers. We’re excited to have joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network to help facilitate this initiative.”

Examples of the in-store environment during Quiet Hour include:

  • The majority of sounds will be reduced and consistent throughout the store
  • As customers walk around there won’t be multiple sound sources, so whilst most of the tech will be switched on, sound will be off
  • All TVs and screens will be switched off
  • If a customer requires a demo of sound, Currys will do this assisted and we will be extra courteous to other customers close by
  • Currys will offer a sensory map by store – this will help customers identify areas that may be a triggering environment, it will also highlight quieter areas of the store where customers can go if they start to feel overwhelmed
  • Currys will offer customers with non-visible disabilities a Sunflower lanyard if they wish, a discrete way to let others around them know that they may need a little extra help whilst shopping
  • Ear defenders and sensory toys are available on request
  • Service dogs are welcome as always

Scott Casson-Rennie, Communications Manager, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Ireland said:

“We are delighted to have Currys join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Ireland network. Currys is the first electrical retailer in Ireland to join the community and their work to incorporate the Sunflower into the Quiet Hours shopping experience is of huge benefit to not only neurodiverse customers but also to people with other disabilities. The relaxed atmosphere will allow customers to browse and decide which purchase is right for them without feeling overwhelmed. Currys staff are trained to recognise Sunflower wearers and offer help and more time.”

Amy Hart is preparing to become a mum very soon!

The former Love Island star is turning eight months pregnant this month, as she is due to welcome her first child with her boyfriend Sam Rason.

Amy has been incredibly open with her fans throughout her fertility and pregnancy journey, and has since revealed what her biggest pregnancy worry has been.

During an Instagram Q&A session last night, the 30-year-old was asked by one of her 1.1M followers if she is worried about the prospect about becoming a mum for the first time.

“I’m actually not! This could be me being naive, but I’m not worried about the birth, I’m not worried about having a baby at home,” she admitted, before clarifying that she is referring to simply having a child in her home, and not any plans to have a home birth.

“The one thing that stresses me out – and I try not to let it stress me out – is the whole keeping track of your own movement. Obviously, I’ve got a front placenta so I don’t feel the movement as much,” Amy explained, adding that her baby’s movement pattern is “different every day”.

The mum-to-be went on to detail that she has had several check-ups regarding her baby’s movement, but that she does feel guilty if she requests scans regularly.

“I’ve been in for reduced movement twice, because I feel like there’s such a balance. You don’t want to waste the NHS’s time because everywhere we look is about the NHS being overstretched,” Amy shared honestly. “But then at the same time, if you leave it too long and something happens, that’s on you.”

In the end, the reality star confirmed that she is excited about almost every aspect about becoming a mother. “So, not nervous about the birth, not nervous about having a baby at home, not nervous about being a mum. That’s just the only thing that makes me stressed,” Amy concluded.

Amy is due to give birth next month. She and boyfriend Sam announced their surprise pregnancy in August of last year, after going public with their relationship a year prior.

We couldn’t be more excited for the parents-to-be!

Kate Middleton has been opening up about the importance of mental health.

The Princess of Wales has shared a raw conversation that she recently had with radio and TV presenter Roman Kemp.

Roman has become an advocate for mental health in recent years, after his best friend Joe Lyons took his own life in August 2020.

To highlight the importance of mental health education in early childhood, the duo have posted a video of their conversation as they walked across the grounds of the home of Martin’s parents – Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman.

During their lengthy discussion, Roman admitted that not every child will have an easy life, and that the lives of families are becoming "so difficult" as a result of the ongoing cost of living crisis.

"Absolutely,” the Princess of Wales agreed. “And this is the thing, every family is different – and the pressures that we all face are different.”

The working royal – who is the mother of Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (7) and Prince Louis (4) – then went on to add that she recognises the difficulties that can come with raising young children.

"While raising the importance of early childhood, this isn't about putting extra pressure on families. It's actually saying they need the support and help reprioritising family life, home life and all that it takes in raising children today because it is tough,” she explained.

"It's not about the number of toys they've got or the number of trips you go on with them,” Kate continued. “It's just making sure they have the right emotional support around them that comes from the adults in their lives."

In the end, both Roman and the Princess agreed that the number one thing that children need from their family is love. “Love goes a long way! It's very true,” Kate beamed.

The Princess of Wales’ conversation with Roman is just the latest in a string of promotions for her new campaign. Shaping Us, which was launched earlier this week, aims to highlight the importance of early years development, a topic which has been a passion of Kate’s for several years.

Frankie Essex has offered a friendly show of support to a fellow mum.

Former Love Island finalist Molly-Mae Hague welcomed her first child on January 23 with her boyfriend, boxer Tommy Fury.

Earlier this week, the 23-year-old new mum revealed to the world that she had decided to name her baby girl Bambi. Molly-Mae had stated in the past that she had had the name chosen for years.

Unfortunately, her daughter’s name reveal led to Molly-Mae needing to turn off her Instagram comments, after she began to receive unkind responses regarding the unusual name choice.

However, the mum-of-one has got a strong circle of support surrounding her, including the likes of fellow reality star Frankie Essex.

The Only Way Is Essex alum gave birth to twins in May of last year, and subsequently named them Logan and Luella.

Writing in her OK! column which was released today, the 35-year-old offered a shoulder of support to new mum Molly-Mae, and admitted that she personally loves the name choice.

“I think the name Bambi is really cute,” Frankie wrote. “It’s sad that she’s had to turn off the comments because of people’s negative opinions. It's nobody's business!”, she insisted further.

Frankie then went on to recall the reactions she received when she revealed the names of her twins following their birth.

“I didn’t get much criticism about Logan and Luella’s names when we revealed them,” she reminisced.

“Everyone said they loved the name Luella, but not a lot of people had heard of Logan before. It’s a proper American name,” Frankie noted additionally.

At the time of the twins’ arrival, Frankie revealed that her boyfriend Luke Love had chosen the name Logan in honour of his favourite X-Men character, Wolverine. She also disclosed that she had had the name Luella chosen for over a decade.

“Luella has always been my girl name since I was 20 – I've never told anyone the name in case they stole it,” Frankie shared.

Since kicking off the new year, many of us have been wanting to work more on ourselves in different aspects of our lives. A main factor we’ve been trying to improve is our health.

Improving your health can seem like an overwhelming thing to do, but the best way to go about it is to take it one step at a time. This way, you can make daily changes to boost your health.

If you’re looking for inspiration on what you can do to improve your daily health that will last longer than just a few weeks, check out the list below of 3 changes you can make. These brilliant tips have been shared by nutritionist Rachel Graham, based on recent behaviour change research.

Start easy

It’s important to not try to do too much at once when you decide to turn over a new healthy leaf. Research shows that when you start with a long list of new healthy habits to complete, you are more likely to give up on some or all of these compared to people who only start with one or two changes! It’s easy to get bogged down when trying new healthy habits everyday but remember, the less you take on, the more likely you are to stick with these changes and eventually form a new healthy habit.

One of the world’s leading behavioural change scientists, B.J. Fogg, revealed he started flossing one tooth at a specific time every day. This task took very little time, effort or motivation. He was easily able to add this to his daily routine. He found that when he had finished flossing just one tooth, that he naturally wanted to do more. After a month, he was flossing all of his teeth daily and it became something he just did without thinking.

Something to bear in mind is to keep it short and sweet. Choosing daily changes that take less than five minutes is easier to keep up. The easier the task, the less motivation you require to do it. An example of this would be to add one of Linwoods Cold Milled Flaxseed pouches to your breakfast smoothie, yoghurt, cereal or porridge daily.

This is a great way to boost your general health, as just 2 tablespoons provide a great source of fibre, protein & omega 3. An additional key step is to place your Linwoods Cold Milled Flaxseed in a visible place so you can easily add it to your breakfast. This strategic placement acts as both a cue & a reminder.

Adding a healthy habit to an existing one

Remembering the B.J. Fogg example from earlier, it was consistency that helped him to make a daily activity into a healthy habit. When it comes to connecting a new healthy habit to something you’re already doing, you don’t have to find extra time in your day to fit it in, making you more likely to do it. Imagine your own activities from throughout the day, what could you add to any of these daily habits that could enhance your health outcomes?

Simplify nutrition

To improve your nutrition, make it easy for yourself. Linwoods make is very simple for you to optimise your nutrition daily, just by using their convenient blends of cold-milled flaxseed.

Simply add 20g or 2 Tablespoons to your breakfast of choice to hit your recommended daily amount (RDA) of key nutrients. This one small daily action can really make a positive difference to your health over time.

If you’re looking at improving your energy levels, try adding Linwoods Flaxseed Co-Enzyme Q10 blend into your morning routine. CoQ10 is an important player in the antioxidant family and is essential for energy production (ATP). There are also heart health benefits associated with it. As we age, our bodies produce less and less of it which means we need to supplement it with foods or fortified foods like Linwoods cold milled flaxseed with CoQ10, which also contains almonds, brazil nuts & walnuts.

To maintain Vitamin D levels, try Linwoods Flaxseed with Bio Cultures & Vitamin D to help. This blend contains several key vitamins & minerals, including 100% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin D plus live cultures (Ganeden BC30). This is a live culture that can withstand the harsh acidic environment of the stomach, and improves its ability to support our immune system. Research shows that Vitamin D plays a significant role in the function of our immune system and our body’s ability to fight infection.

Top tip: A 20g serving of cold-milled Flaxseed, BioCultures & Vitamin D is a tasty and convenient way to get 100% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin D plus 6g of fibre, 4g of omega 3 and 4g of protein.

It’s important to note that health is not something you become, but it is something you do daily. It’s the little daily actions you do which adds up to one big result in the end. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, pace yourself & emphasise consistency over perfection. Acknowledge and praise your efforts daily, that way you are more inclined to repeat the healthy habit.
