Ellie Goulding may have officially broken up with Dougie Poynter. but we have always just wanted to know what really went down with Mullingar man, Niall Horan.
Speaking to Seventeen Magazine, the 29-year-old finally confirmed that the pair had dated.
"We're still friends," said the pretty blonde.
"We went on a few dates, and it was really fun. He's a really, really lovely guy.
"He's got the biggest sense of humour, he's very caring, and I see him as a genuine friend in the industry."
Ellie and Niall's closeness caused a bit of a stir after Ed Sheeran released his single Don't in 2014 which is believed to have been written about Ellie.
Though Ellie's single On My Mind is said to be a retaliation to that song, the singer has admitted that the pair got close but were never official.
"We've known each other for a few years," she said about Ed.
"I think he's a really nice guy and a brilliant musician.
"We've bumped into each other and we've hung out and stuff, but the thing is if I hang out with someone, it's instantly like I'm 'dating' them.
"We were never in a relationship. My song is not about him."
The interview comes a day after Ellie announced that she will be taking a break from music to recover from her break-up with Dougie.
"People think I’m invincible but these past few weeks have been tough," she said to the Sun.
"When you’re in the public eye, it seems like you’re able to deal with stuff better than anyone else, which is not remotely true.
"I’m not in a relationship any more and that’s been hard.
"Having a break will be a good thing for me and my head."
