Adulting is hard. And adulting on a Monday is even harder.

If you've spent much of the morning wondering how you could possibly be so broke after getting paid on Friday, and much of the afternoon dreaming of the post-work nap you're going to take, meet your sisters.

Thankfully, Twitter is always on hand to remind you that no matter how hard you think you have it, there are countless others who also continue to struggle with this whole adulting lark.

And here are just some of our favourites.

1. Meet your soul sister.

2. Don't pick up. Don't Pick up. Don't pick up.

3. If in doubt. sleep.

4. Doing it right.

5. Just every second of every day.

6. What's the issue?

7. Not now stressballs, not now.

8. Oh, Amy.

9. Down with big girl jobs.

10. Yay, indeed.

Do you ever feel like you should get some kind of award just for managing to get up in the morning, making it to work/college wearing something other than pyjamas AND feeding yourself three times during the day?

Life is a struggle sometimes, especially if, like us, you feel you're just pretending to do this whole 'adult' thing. If we had our way we'd spend every day watching KUWTK re-runs while eating copious amounts of toast. Sadly though, the world doesn't work quite like that. At least not all the time.

Here are a few key signs you're not quite ready for the adult world…

1. You strongly consider Thursday to be the start of the weekend
Did someone say 'two for one cocktails?'

2. The thought of ever being able to clear your €500 overdraft makes you laugh
If you had a spare €500 lying around, you would NOT be giving it to the bank.

3. If you remember to floss your teeth two days in a row you're genuinely thrilled
Dental hygiene on point.

4. Keeping your bedroom clean is as hard now as it was when you were 13
So. Many. Clothes.

5. You often forgo cooking dinner in favour of some random item from the back of the cupboard
Microwave popcorn it is, so.

6. You've been known to take a 'sick day' purely to watch Netflix from bed for 8 hours straight
How else are you going to watch all of OITNB in one sitting?

7. For the last two weeks before payday you usually have around €0.24 to your name
You spend your LUAS journeys waiting for an inspector to catch you out.

8. In fact, your budget in general looks something like this:
Brunch FTW.

9. You literally want to cry when you find out a celebrity is younger than you
Damn you Kendall Jenner and your eternal youth…

10. This pretty much describes your everyday routine:
Word.

Sometimes we've just had enough of being an adult.

When it's lashing rain outside and we have to get up at 6.45am for work, we'd like nothing better than to pull a sickie and have our mum deliver flat 7up and toast to our bed. Oh, to be a kid again!

Here are just nine times that adult life has been NO fun.

1. The first time we realised that the fridge and cupboards didn't magically fill themselves
"So I actually have to BUY food? On a regular basis?"

2. Any time we've set the smoke alarm off while trying to boil some pasta
Nigella Lawson we are not.

3. Every month when we see how much tax comes out of our paycheck
GIMME BACK MY MONEY!

4. Any time a bill arrives
Another one? Is this some kind of cruel joke?

5. Every morning we have to commute to work in the lashing rain/ice/wind/snow
Bonus anti-craic points if it's so early the sun hasn't even come up. THE JOYS.

6. That one time we tried and failed to build a piece of IKEA furniture
"It's meant to be lopsided, right?"

7. The time we stupidly volunteered to cook dinner for a group of people
So. Much. Chopping. Not to mention the fact that we only have three plates to serve eight people.

8. Any time we attempt to start "eating clean"
"I'll just have ONE HobNob." *eats fifteen in a row*

9. Every time we wake up with a desperate hangover and The Fear
Back to bed. Forever.

Your college days truly are the best of your life but as with all amazing things, you never usually release what you've got til it's gone.

Lie-ins, casually skipping lectures for coffee/rehearsals/Iron Stomach contests, leaving EVERYTHING to the last minute – never again in your life will you have the opportunity to have so much fun in the name of "study"!

Here are a few things that come as a shock to the system once your time at college ends…

1. Every week has to be a golden week now
You can't just decide not to go to work because it's raining outside or you're "not in the mood." Oh, cruel world!

2. All-nighters aren't the answer anymore
Whether it was an essay, a group project or a final exam, just about every problem in college could be solved with one all-night study session. Now that we're in the real world we actually have to plan and prepare ahead for things. Shudder.

3. Weekday hangovers are NOT an option
Sure, you heroically made it to your Friday morning lecture with red eyes and a coffee in hand every week. That same tactic just isn't going to cut it in the working world. Even the most relaxed of bosses will probably take an issue with you laying your head on your desk and falling asleep.

4. A traffic cone is not acceptable home decor
Nor is a carefully cultivated collection of Strongbow cans, or the remains of last week's house-warming party.

5. We can't schedule our day around Gilmore Girls re-runs these days
But what will Lorelai and Rory do without us?! We miss the days when afternoon TV watching was a daily occurrence.

6. Everyone eats so healthy now
Pizza, chicken fillet rolls and vodka with Red Bull were a perfectly acceptable diet back in college. Now it's all quinoa, chia seeds and green smoothies. WHATEVER.

7. Three-month holidays aren't the norm
If you're lucky enough to get paid holiday leave in your job, you'll be counting every day like a miser. Gone are the summers when you just jaunted off to San Diego on a whim. Life is so stressful now! So busy!

8. Even though it was a bumpy journey, we'd do it all again in a heartbeat
Your college years are definitely a learning curve, but they give you some of the best experiences of your life – and the best friends too.
