With the first-round auditions of The X Factor kicking off earlier this month, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini has been back in the spotlight on an almost daily basis, and one thing fans have been quick to notice is her noticeably thinner frame.

The former Girls Aloud singer has always been relatively slim, especially over the last four or five years, but when she stepped out in a tiny crop top and palazzo pants combo last week in Manchester, her dramatically smaller waist and thinner arms were on full display. Cheryl has already defended her weight loss on social media on two separate occasions over the last two weeks, and now her close friend and fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell has spoken out too.

Speaking to The Sun over the weekend, Simon said that Cheryl "eats like a horse" and that her weight loss has not been intentional. "This is not someone who's trying to make herself thin," he explained.

"I think she did pick up a bug and I think the way she's approaching what was addressed about her weight in a very open way – by saying she is thin and trying to put on weight – I don't think she would have done that two years ago."

Taking to Twitter two weeks ago, Cheryl hit back at critics of her weight, saying, "You have no idea what I have been through. Just losing my father in law v recently and everything that comes with that. Not that I am [too thin] or should justify myself to anyone."

Simon even insisted that Cheryl has the same appetite as he does, admitting they went on a fast food hunt around Manchester together last week. "For some reason we wanted a Wimpy rather than a McDonalds. We couldn't find one in the end but we found another burger shop and she had the same as me," he told the newspaper.

Speaking to reporters at the auditions last week, Cheryl herself said she was "eating lots" to help her regain some of the weight she had lost.

Two former X Factor stars have announced that they are engaged!

The former song contest contestants Chloe-Jasmine Whichello and Stevi Ritche announced that they have decided to tie the knot after 7 months of dating.

The couple first got together when they met on the show back in 2014 and eventually started dating when the live shows were on in early December.

The pair didn't announce their relationship until making it public in April just gone.

It turns out, one of the main reasons the couple are planning on getting wed is their 'magical' sex life, according to the Daily Mail and Stevi bragged: ‘If we were at sixth base before, now we’re definitely a ten – the sex life is very magical’.

Back in October of 2014 before Chloe was elimated from the competition, Stevi had claimed that he had reached 'sixth base' with her.

Chloe, who is now 24, said she had no idea that her boyfriend would propose and she revealed that the first person she text to tell was her mentor from the X Factor, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini to thank her for bringing him into her life.

Stevi shared his joy about their news on Twitter as he wrote: 'Hi everyone we are very pleased to announce that me and @CHLOEJASMINEW are engaged I am over the moon thank you peeps'

It looks like Cheryl Fernandez-Versini may have embarrassed her fellow X Factor judge with this throwback snap she shared on Instagram last night.

Cheryl who is set to judge another season of the X Factor posted this picture of herself alongside Nick Grimshaw and Girls aloud band pal Kimberley Walsh.

Nick, who definitely considers himself a bit of a style icon has short hair and glasses in his picture which is a huge change from the long slicked back hair he now sports.

Cheryl posted the picture from ten years ago along with the caption "#Fbf Oh how times have changed !!  a re-e-wind !!! Me, The Grim @nicholasgrimshaw &@kimberleywalshofficial many moons ago

Followers couldn't believe that that was actually Nick in the picture with many commenting "WTF" and quite a few saying it couldn't possibly be him.

Cheryl, who has been receiving a lot of stick lately for how skinny she is then went on share a present day of herself alongside the DJ as the two get the X Factor auditions underway.

The X Factor was set to return bigger and better this year with new judges, new hosts and even rumours of a new format, but there have already been problems one week in.

The series got off to a bad start at the weekend when the Manchester live auditions were cancelled due to the death of Simon Cowell's mother. But with the auditions rescheduled for today and tomorrow (July 6th and 7th), new judge Rita Ora has already had to pull out, as well as Olly Murs' co-host Caroline Flack.

Rita had apparently cleared her diary for the original audition dates last weekend, and with the changes she will no longer be able to appear on the show tomorrow.

While the Shine Ya Light singer will be there to film today, she then flies out to France for commitments at Paris Fashion Week with Karl Lagerfeld, according to The Mirror.

She had hoped to make it back for a 1pm start in Manchester on Thursday but now has decided to pull out of tomorrow's filming altogether. A spokesperson for ITV confirmed the news, saying the producers were making other arrangements for tomorrow. "Rita obviously wanted to be there but it is just unfortunate that with the change in filming dates there is an issue," the rep said.

"We will go ahead either with Simon, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw, or drafting in a guest judge."

Rita was confirmed as a new judge on the show last month, along with BBC Radio 1 host Nick. The pair will join Cheryl and Simon on the panel for this series.

As for hosting duties, Olly Murs will be left to run the show by himself as Caroline flies to Mallorca to work on another project. "Caroline has to jet off to Majorca to film Love Island, so Olly… is going to have to host on his own," a source revealed.

Simon Cowell took to Twitter this morning to thank his fans for their support after the death of his beloved mum Julie:

Hopefully by the next round of auditions everyone will be present and correct once again…

Simon Cowell was left devastated yesterday after his mum Julie passed away aged 89.

A statement from the X Factor boss' brother Tony confirmed the news, saying the Cowells already missed their mum "so very much" and that she was the "heart and soul" of their family.

As a result of the sad news, the first round of auditions for the  X Factor's new series have been cancelled today, with no news yet about tomorrow's and Wednesday's. "They were due to start today and carry on into Tuesday and Wednesday. Today's have been cancelled and we have not made any decisions beyond that," a spokesperson for Syco Entertainment said this morning.

UK ticketing company Applause Store last night announced the cancellation of the auditions, due to take place in Manchester, saying it was due to "unforeseen circumstances."

The late Mrs. Cowell was mum to four boys  Simon, Nicholas, Tony and Michael, as well as being stepmum to John and June. She had reportedly been ill for some time and was in a home for her final months.

"Simon is absolutely devastated. His mum was the most beloved person in his life and they were incredibly close," a source told The Sun. "But at least she got to see him settle down and start a family which was one of the great wishes of her life."

The music mogul welcomed his first son, Eric, last February, and it's clear he is already the apple of his dad's eye.

Our thoughts are with the Cowell family at this time.

With two studio albums under her belt since appearing on The X Factor in 2010, Rebecca Ferguson could have been set up for life.

But speaking in court earlier this week, the mum-of-three revealed how she was conned out of over "well over £100,000" (€140,000) in earnings by a former friend and business advisor. Rebecca choked back tears during a hearing in London's Crown Court as as she explained what had happened.

"Her crimes go deeper than money," she said. "I felt she had become obsessed with me and my family and sought not only to steal from me but to rob everything I had worked hard for."

Rebecca outlined one incident in which she had transferred £3,350 (€4,700) to the former friend's bank account, believing it was going into a trust fund for her daughter Lillie May.

Testifying about the emotional and mental damage she has suffered as a result of the fraudster's actions, Rebecca said, "My heart and my mind are broken by her crimes… As a result of everything, I cannot trust people, and I was always a naturally shy person."

She explained that it had changed her life significantly, adding, ""I now question everybody and it limits me socially."

Rebecca rose to fame on The X Factor after finishing in second place to Matt Cardle.

She notoriously became close to One Direction's Zayn Malik after meeting him on the show, and the pair ended up dating for four months, which sparked controversy among fans due to their six-year age gap.

Speaking about the relationship a year after it ended, Rebecca called it a "blip" and a "mistake," saying, "That to me is a moment in my life that I just think, 'What was going on? You were having a breakdown.'"

Some more big news from The X Factor team today as it's been revealed that Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes will be taking over as host of The Xtra Factor.

The 26-year-old singer confirmed the exciting development via Twitter just now, telling fans she was "beyond excited" to be chosen as host.

Rochelle will be joining comedian and TV presenter Melvin Odoom on the new series, which acts as a sister show to The X Factor.

The pair will replace Sarah Jane Crawford, who was axed after just one year on the show. Since it was revealed a new hosting spot was up for grabs, a number of possibles have been touted, among them Irish MTV presenter Laura Whitmore and YouTube star Zoella.

Rochelle's new job comes with good timing too, as she recently revealed that her fellow Saturdays stars are all taking some time out from the band to work on solo projects. ""It's refreshing to do things on your own so that's how the situation is." she said.

The singer is not the only member of The Saturdays to have been involved in a TV talent show, either. Her bandmate Una Foden recently finished up as a judge on this year's The Voice of Ireland, while Frankie Sandford-Bridge finished in second place on last year's Strictly Come Dancing. Two big acts for Rochelle to follow!

Rochelle and Mervin are one of three boy-girl teams set to join The X Factor this year. Caroline Flack and Olly Murs were confirmed back in March as the new hosting team for the main show, following Dermot O'Leary's exit, while Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw were added to the judging panel earlier this week.

Do we sense a theme forming, Simon?

After months of speculation, X Factor fans can finally rest easy as this year's judges have been confirmed once and for all.

While it may be no surprise to see that Simon Cowell is still on the panel of four, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini must be feeling thankful today as it seems she too is safe for another year.

As had been strongly rumoured in recent weeks, BBC Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw will be replacing Louis Walsh, and in place of Mel B will be singer Rita Ora.

No Niall Horan or Zayn Malik, so… perhaps next year?

This won't be Rita's first time on a reality TV judging panel, but hopefully she'll have better luck with her X Factor acts than she did on The Voice UK back in March, when she became the only judge without an act in the final of the show.

News of the confirmed judging panel was announced this morning via ITV's Twitter page:

The reaction from fans has been mixed so far, with many criticising Simon's choices:

No doubt anticipating some backlash, Simon was quick to take to Twitter himself this morning to defend his choices.

"We met a lot of people. I really believe everyone on the show this year is excited about finding someone who has star potential," he wrote.

"We have always had great judges. And I will always be thankful for their passion and expertise. I have know idea what the show will look like but I feel both excited and nervous. It's going to be very different! Embrace the madness…"

This morning's news follows the confirmation last month that Olly Murs and Caroline Flack would be picking up hosting duties from Dermot O'Leary, who was unceremoniously axed from the show at the beginning of the year.

The pair have already begun work on the new series, having attended first-round auditions across the UK last month.

Lots of changes ahead for this year's show, we're looking forward to checking it out…

He has probably been linked to the job every season for as far back as we can remember, but Robbie Williams has today distanced himself from those X Factor rumours.

The singer, who previously appeared on the show to perform with Olly Murs, One Direction and even Take That in the live finals, took to his social media channels this afternoon to shut down those pesky judging panel rumours that have been following him around.

“Said it once, I’ll say it again; I’m unequivocally not doing X Factor,” tweeted the 41-year-old, adding, “Good luck to the show though.”

While a number of fans are ‘gutted’ by the news, at least that’s one name that we can cross off of the never-ending list!

Robbie’s comments come after fresh speculation that singer Rita Ora has been tempted away from The Voice UK, to join Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw on this year’s panel. According to reports this weekend, the RIP singer is in ‘advanced negotiations’ to appear on the show, which is set to air later this year.

So, now that Robbie’s off the list, who do you want to see filling that final spot?

The X Factor house has always been a hotbed for romance and off-screen flings, but not many of the relationships have survived past the final show.

That's why we were pleasantly surprised to see that one of the most unexpected pairings from last year's show, Chloe Jasmine and Stevi Richie, were still going strong five months on.

Chloe reportedly cheated on her boyfriend to get together with Stevi, telling The Mirror at the time that the romance happened "organically" and that it was all very "innocent" at first. The 25-year-old even admitted she didn't feel guilty for cheating, saying "I'm not ashamed of what I did, because I believe it was part of God's divine plan."

Righto.

Whatever about the start of their relationship, the couple still seem very happy together, telling OK! that their feelings are very much real.

Many viewers believed the romance was engineered by X Factor producers, and while Stevi said that may have initially been the case, it's certainly not the truth these days.

"They put us together and got us talking so they could film it," Stevi said of the pair's first interaction, adding, "This isn't a showmance, you can't turn feelings off."

To make things even more exciting, Chloe admits she would love th get married some day, though she kept coy about the details of her dream wedding.

"I love the idea of marriage, but I don't think it matters where you get married," she told the magazine.

Chloe and Stevi aren't the only contestants still together after last year's show, it seems. Just last month, Casey Johnson of Stereo Kicks revealed on Celebrity Juice that he is still seeing fellow finalist Betsy-Blue English of Only the Young.

The young pop star even revealed that he has a tattoo in Betsy's honour, a blue heart on his wrist.

Aaaaw. Wonder which couple will last the distance?

They have always been the best of buds, but it wouldn’t be surprising if there was a little bit of awkwardness between Caroline Flack and Dermot O’Leary after she was announced as his X Factor replacement this year.

However, Caroline has broken her silence on the issue, insisting that by being the ultimate pro, Dermot has made the transition a lot easier for her.

In an interview with The Telegraph this weekend, the former Strictly Come Dancing star said: “He’s made it less awkward. I think I felt more awkward than he did, and he’s made it so it doesn’t feel awkward, which is such a lovely thing to do.”

The 35-year-old also revealed that she spoke to Dermot on the day that he decided to step down from his long-running stint on the popular talent show.

“I think in his head it was time to go. Definitely. I think eight years is a long time to be on a show and to do it so well,” she added.

Caroline, who bagged the presenting gig alongside her celebrity bestie Olly Murs, admitted that she is definitely feeling the nerves ahead of the new series.

“I don’t want to let him down…it’s a big old space to fill – especially with someone like Dermot who’s extremely brilliant at it. He’s just the best at what he does,” she said.

What a lovely thing to say. Don’t worry Caroline, we know that you and Olly have this!
