Right now, protecting your skin from signs of ageing might not seem like a pressing issue, but believe us, it's important to start as soon as possible.

When it comes to fine lines and wrinkles, prevention is far easier than cure, and all it takes is one or two simple changes to your skincare regime.

Here are a few things you can do now for ageless skin in the future…

1. Stay hydrated
Drinking enough water (or more than enough, when you can) not only brightens the skin but also plumps it up to make pores and fine lines appear smaller. Win. Aim to spread your water intake out over the day instead of downing three glasses at once.

Our bodies can only absorb a certain amount of water each hour, so any more than that and you'll be rushing to the toilet every ten minutes.

2. Invest in skincare
Looking after your skin now will definitely pay off down the link, so rather than splashing out on a new eyeliner or mascara next time you hit the beauty counter, why not stock up on some key skincare products instead?

One brand new release that we cannot wait to add to our daily beauty routine is M.A.C's Mineralize Timecheck Lotion. As well as working as an anti-ageing serum to reduce the appearance of fine lines, shrink pores and hydrate the skin, the lotion also acts as a primer and so is perfect for applying as a base coat for your make-up.

One thing that puts us off serums and primers is their sticky consistency, but M.A.C Mineralize Timecheck's gel-lotion formula feels instantly refreshing and sinks in without a trace.

3. ALWAYS remove your make-up
Okay, you can't help those rare Saturday nights when you fall into bed still in your heels and false eyelashes, but you should be aiming to remove your make-up every night.

Sleeping with foundation and mascara on not only blocks your pores but also dries out the skin and increases the risk of irritation. Not a good plan for the future. Keep make-up remover or wipes plus moisturiser by your bed, so even when you're exhausted you're giving yourself a fighting chance.

MAC has long been a firm-favourite with Irish gals so our interest is always piqued when a new collection arrives on its counters. Released tomorrow, the cosmetics brand has snazzed up some of its summer essentials. And even if one of the themes – ahem, a laundromat – sounds a little silly, we couldn't help but check it out.

MAC Wash & Dry
Time to liven up your make-up bag? This colourful collection certainly boasts plenty of bright packaging and eye-catching hues. Based around the quirky idea of a launderette, we're going to go out on a limb here and say that we love it. Lipsticks (€21.50) have been given fun and funky names such as tumble dry, and steam heat, while nail varnishes (€11.00) has been labelled Monday blues, and washteria. The range also features various eye, brow, and face products, as well as makeup brushes and bags. However, it's also all limited edition so if you're keen, snap it up fast.

Eyes On MAC
MAC is repromoting its popular eyes X15 palettes from last spring, adding in brand new X9 palettes for this season. You can use the products to create daytime and evening looks in various textures, so we're hoping that investing in one of these means you won't have to buy more eyeshadows for a while. The X9 palettes (€40.00) are available in an amber, a purple, a navy, and a burgundy, while the X15 (€75.00) are available in warm/neutral, and cool/neutral.

MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation
This is the latest addition to the pro longwear range and at €36.50 it is set to be a huge hit. It can be used as a foundation or a concealer and MAC says that it lasts for an incredible 16 hours. It's an oil-free product too and gives a nice medium-to-full coverage. It's particularly perfect for anyone suffering from blemishes or imperfections.

All of the products are exclusive to Brown Thomas, BT2 and www.brownthomas.com

Us Irish girls love our MAC. Did you know that the Grafton St store is one of the world’s busiest?! Yep, it’s up there with Macy’s in NYC… seems like nothing can come between an Irish girl and her Studio Fix!

We love MAC for so many reasons – the shade ranges, the sleek packaging, the fact that there’s always a new collection to ogle over with each visit. I’ve always been mad for their limited edition stuff (Disney Villains, anyone?!)

The regular line is full of gems, too – here’s 5 classics you must try.

Mineralise Skinfinish Natural is one of the most fantastic powders out there – whether you’re oily or dry, chances are you’ll get on famously with this. It’s not a flat matte, isn’t drying and never cakes – plus one of these compacts lasts forever and a day. Score.

It is quite literally impossible to choose just one MAC lipstick, so let’s go with one nude and one bold. On the more subtle side, Patisserie is a total crowd-pleaser. It’s a neutral shade that isn’t too opaque or pale – the lustre formula means it blends nicely with your own natural lip colour.
For a statement lip, Lady Danger is an incredibly striking warm red. Perfect for summer, it’s  a full-on shade that won’t dry lips out like some retro mattes can.

Warm Soul blush is another one of those products that just about anyone can use. It’s a beautiful warm neutral shade with a really fine shimmer that works equally well as a highlight on deeper skintones.

Into contouring? Forget any palette – Harmony powder blush is all you really need. It’s the perfect shade to cast a convincing shadow and carve out cheekbones on even the pales of faces.

For covering a multitude of sins (and then some), Pro Longwear concealer is an absolute gem. A super-pigmented liquid formula, this stuff simply Does. Not. Budge! Perfect for long days in the office.

Red lips are the ultimate fashion statement and one that is NEVER out of style. If you want to lift your look to the next level and add some serious flair, a quick slick of red lippy will do the job!

Here are our picks of the ultimate red lipsticks on the market. Yes, some may be on the pricey side but there are some make-up products that require and investment and we reckon red lips is one of them!

The cult-classic
MAC Cosmetic’s lipstick in Ruby Woo can be found in most women’s make-up bags and is a definite must-have for nights out.

Available at Brown Thomas, BT or the MAC store at €19.50

The innovator
Lime Crime’s Veleveteen in Red Velvet is a relatively new arrival on the market. The special thing about this product is that is goes on as a liquid with an applicator – somewhat like a gloss – before changing to a deep, matte that won’t budge. Basically it’s magic.

Available from lovemakeup.co.uk at £13.50

The icon
Revlon Fire and Ice is a bright tomatoey-red loved by women worldwide– and it’s no wonder why. The shade, which is a perfect red suits most tones and is inexpensive.

Available from Boots at €10.69

The celebrity-favourite
NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil was made famous by Taylor Swift whose red lips are becoming part of her statement look as the months go by. However, it was another famous face who inspired Taylor to choose the shade, as she said herself: “I bought it ‘cos I heard on the radio that Hilary Duff uses it. And Hilary Duff is a magical princess.”

Available from ASOS at €27.14

Just because the weather is getting kind of dull, doesn’t mean your make-up has to! MAC’s September collection looks brilliant – we can’t wait to get our hands on some of these products.

The Simpsons Collection
The Simpsons are celebrating their 25th anniversary, and MAC have decided to celebrate along with them by bringing out their Simpsons inspired make-up! Don’t worry though – it isn’t yellow paint!

Their Lipglass (top right) comes in four colours:

  • Nacho Cheese Explosion: a bright neon lime yellow
  • Grand Pumpkin: bright creamy orange
  • Red blazer: bright fuchsia
  • Itchy & Scratchy & Sexy: electric blue violet

You could also try their eye shadows and blush which all have equally Simpson-esque names such as Beehive Blue (eye shadow) and Sideshow You (blush).

A Novel Romance
If you were never really a fan of The Simpsons anyway, you might find something from their A Novel Romance collection: "a colour collection teeming with luscious shades that will have you feeling overwhelmed with desire", apparently. And we have to agree, check out these fab nail polishes and eye shadow collection:

Matchmaster Concealer
The thing we're most excited about though, has to be their Matchmaster concealer. It comes in 12 different shades and contains vitamin E which moisturises your skin while the concealer gets to work covering up blemishes and under eye circles. What more could you want?

Studio Sculpt
To top it all off, they have their new Studio Sculpt products. The Defining Powder offers "sheer coverage with a barely-there finish, immediately correcting uneven tones, leaving skin smooth and sculpted without looking powdery or cakey" – sounds good to us! And their mascara, Superblack Lash now comes in a "deep, rich shade of carbon black". Impressed? So are we. We may just plan a little shopping trip come the 4th of September when all this is available!

MAC have unveiled their new Viva Glam Rihanna 2 Collection and, needless to say, it is amazing!

Rihanna is getting us all out of our make-up comfort zones with a strong and  frosted metallic mauve lipstick and lipglass, based on Riri’s famous and fearless style.

We cannot wait to try this out on a night out on the town!

The gorgeous products come in a soft, velvet packaging that feature the superstar songstress’ signature, and if that wasn’t enough, proceeds from the new collection will go towards helping people affected by HIV/AIDS.

The Viva Glam Rihanna 2 Collection will be exclusively available in Brown Thomas and BT2 stores across Ireland from September.

Just like all of Rihanna's MAC collections, this one will no doubt be a sell-out!

Fashion designer Zac Posen is reportedly planning on collaborating with MAC cosmetics. Rumours were sparked with the designer talked about the company during a presentation of upcoming trends in Italy recently.

This won’t be the first time the two have worked together, however. Back in December of last year the duo worked on a special dinner held in honour of his pre-Fall 2014 line.

Nothing has been confirmed but the designer has made known what beauty look he goes for, previously saying: “I love beautiful women – and yet I don’t believe in set ideals of beauty,” he told doobop.com. “It’s about how you present yourself to the world and self-expression. But also about inner confidence, happiness and a continuous quest for knowledge. Fashion magazines try to interpret real beauty, but it gets convoluted.”

His ideal seems to go pretty well with what MAC think… hmmm!

New Zealand singer Lorde, admitted that she’s always been a fan of the high-end make-up brand and she even recalls buying her first MAC lippy:

“I remember saving up to buy my very first MAC lipstick (Snob) at 14, and it was used by about 20 of my friends,” the young star told The Cut.

There’s no doubt that the teen’s line of make-up products will reflect her gothic style. So if you’re a fan of her vampy look, then it’s only a matter of time before you can have it too!

Red lipstick isn’t something that every woman is comfortable wearing. Fair tones think it’s too bright and darker tones think it doesn’t suit them.

But, when there are just some lipsticks that somehow suit the majority of women and because they never try red lipstick, they don’t even know it.
