As Carrie Bradshaw put it, "every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week."

And Carrie couldn't be more right.

Men and women alike flock to the city to see the fashion shows, the new trends and of course, the style disasters.

And while it may be the biggest event of the year for most people, it's just another day for celebrities.

Givenchy held a major fashion show and invited the most stylish celebs of Hollywood.

We look at the stars that sat #FROW at Givenchy for New York Fashion Week (and envy them while we're at it):

Kim and Kanye West

Julia Roberts

Courtney Love

Amanda Seyfried

Steven and Liv Tyler

Debbie Harry

Nicki Minaj

Erin Brockovich, the American lawyer and environmental activist whose life and career was the subject of a major Hollywood film, has reached out to the families caught up in the Berkeley tragedy.

In a Facebook entry posted last night, she said: “As a Californian, I am devastated that these young visitors to our shores were caught up in this horrific situation.

“My heart goes out to their families, friends, and loved ones, and along with all of the people of California, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the people of Ireland.

“The waking nightmare that these families have been living for the past week is hard to imagine, and no words from me or anybody else can ease their pain.”

The 55-year-old is also calling for “immediate action on the costs for Berkeley families”.

She added: “Some of those injured would require extensive care before being able to return home.” Ms Brockovich furthermore explained that it was essential that families did not face the “additional nightmare of mounting medical bills”.

The lawyer has now made herself available to meet with and assist the families, and says she wants to help them find “a non-litigious solution in the coming weeks”.

She continued: “As a lifelong activist, I feel it is my duty to come forward and offer these families my assistance. For those who did not survive the accident, there is a need for us to uncover the truth about what happened.

“For those who did survive, there is a pressing need to ensure that the company responsible for this tragedy is held to account.”

Ms Brockovich added: “I will be calling upon those involved to do the right thing in an effort to avoid the need for prolonged and expensive litigation.”

Her calls are being supported by Dublin law firm Phelim O’Neill, with which she is working.

The Facebook post concludes by saying that she offers her “deepest sympathies” to the victims of the tragedy, “and to the people of Ireland”.

On this side of the Atlantic, Erin Brockovich is still best known for the 2000 movie of the same name. Starring Julia Roberts in the title role, the actress went on to win an Oscar for her portrayal.

Despite coming from a disadvantaged background and with no formal legal training, Ms Brockovich was instrumental in building a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company 20 years ago.

She currently works for Girardi & Keese in the New York, and Shine Lawyers in Brisbane, Australia.

The 24-year-old actress and former fiancée Evan Peters have called off their engagement according to multiple reports.

The couple got engaged in 2013 but Emma has been seen out without her engagement ring for a number of weeks.

An insider close to the Hollywood pair explained the situation in an interview with Just Jared. “Their three years together just ran its course,” the source revealed.

“They have so many great memories together but couldn’t make it work in the end. The breakup was amicable – there was no drama whatsoever. Emma and Evan are even still friends!”

The Scream 4 star and Mr Peters began dating in 2012 when they starred alongside each other in the indie film, Adult World. They co-starred together again in the cast of American Horror Story: Coven and American Horror Story: Freak Show.

28-year-old Evan explained in a 2014 Vulture interview how he was quite shy and was scared to approach Ms Roberts at the beginning. “I had a crush on her, too, and I didn’t really know how to approach her or talk to her or any of that stuff,” the X-Men star revealed.

“At the time I was a more introverted actor, trying to kind of stay into it and stay focused and not talk too much.”

Well, it’s definitely safe to say he got over his fears as he went on to date the Hollywood beauty for three years.

The couple have certainly seen their fair share of drama. In 2013 the niece of Julia Roberts was arrested for domestic violence after the police were called over reports that the couple were fighting. Emma was arrested for attacking her beau who was reportedly left with a bloody nose and bite marks.

A rep for Ms Roberts said at the time that “it was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding.”

The couple worked past the fight but two years later it has apparently come to an end… thankfully a calm and amicable one!

Today marked the 25th anniversary of Pretty Woman's release, and the film is still a firm favourite with women everywhere.

The modern-day (well, 90s) Cinderella tale might not be a perfect love story, but in reality, what love story ever is?

Richard Gere was of course the film's Prince Charming but it's Julia Roberts that makes us want to watch this movie time and time again. Vivian – what a lady!

Here are just a few of the times she won us over…

1. When she had a no-bullsh*t attitude towards safe sex
A buffet of safety.

2. When she sang her heart out to Prince while taking a bath
She is basically our spirit animal in this scene…

3. When she gave that snobby Rodeo Drive shop assistant a piece of her mind

4. When she was blatantly honest about how much she loved the opera
"She said she liked it better than Pirates of Penzance."

5. Anytime she did her giant, infectious laugh
Gets us every time!

6. When she was honest about what she wanted
Stick to your guns, Viv.

7. And basically the entire last scene
The two of them are so goddamn cute!

Actress Julia Roberts suffered a devastating loss today as she said goodbye to her mother, Betty Lou Motes.

Betty died in the early hours of this morning after a two year battle with lung cancer.

The 80-year-old had been living in Julia's Los Angeles home in recent months, along with the actress' husband Danny Moder and their three children, ten-year-old twins Finn and Hazel and seven-year-old Henry.

A cancerous tumour was discovered on Betty's lung during an MRI scan in November 2013 and she also underwent surgery to remove part of her lungs last year.

Betty's passing comes just one year after her daughter Nancy – Julia's half sister – died after a drug overdose last February. Nancy's body was discovered on the bathroom floor of a house in Los Angeles, with suicide suspected as the motivation.

Julia also tragically lost her father Walter to throat cancer when she was just ten years old. The actress' stepfather, Betty's second husband Michael Motes, is believed to have been an abusive and aggressive husband and father. Julia's mother later called her second marriage "'the biggest mistake I ever made."

Julia's relationship with her younger sister Nancy was said to be strained, but although neither she nor her mother attended a memorial service for Nancy last year, the actress did make it clear that the family had organised their own private funeral.

Speaking shortly after Nancy's death, Julia said it had been a huge blow for the whole family. "There aren't words to explain what any of us have been through in these last 20 days," Julia said last March. "It's hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead."

Our thoughts are with Julia and her family at this hard time.

Amanda Holden has found herself on the bad side of the internet today after she posted a photo of her daughter in fancy dress.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge shared a photo of her daughter 9-year-old daughter, Lexi, dressed as Julia Roberts’ character in Pretty Woman, captioning: “1990’s day at Lexi’s school today. Julia Roberts ‘Pretty Woman’.”

For anyone who may not know, Julia Roberts’ character in the hit movie was a prostitute, and it would seem that Amanda’s choice of outfit for her daughter has outraged many people.

It didn’t take long for the presenter to be blasted online, with many claiming that the outfit was completely inappropriate for such a young child. The tweet was deleted less than eight minutes after it was shared online.

Things got even more confusing when Amanda claimed that not only was Lexi actually dressed as Cindy Crawford, but that her husband had shared it on her Twitter account by accident mistaking it for his own private Facebook account. Eh?!

The statement read:

“The truth is that Lexi went to school as Cindy Crawford for her school '90s Day – not Julia Roberts – as anyone who heard me yesterday at BGT – and indeed the teachers at Lexi's school – will confirm. However my husband thought she looked more like Julia Roberts, without any thought to any interpretation."

"Although given that she is a 9-year-old girl it seems completely unbelievable and disturbing that anyone could or would put such an interpretation on it. Julia Roberts is one of the most beautiful and iconic women in the world and so, as a proud father, he wanted to post the similarity on his own private Facebook account. He hit the wrong button and posted it on my twitter account- but removed it as soon as he realised. The first I knew about it as I was contacted by the media whilst filming today."

"Needless to say my husband is mortified. And just as an aside, on the school run this morning we bumped into 'Mia Wallace' from Pulp Fiction and ‘Mr Pink’ from Reservoir dogs!"

Okaaaaay Amanda…We believe you. Thousands wouldn’t – but we do.

Let it never be said that too much make-up is a bad thing. This enterprising guy has managed to transform himself into loads of different female celebs using only cosmetics – and the results are startling!

Instagram user pochoy_29 began posting his transformations a few weeks ago and has attracted quite a big following, which is no surprise.

He could make a few bob being Kim Kardashian's lookalike we reckon (that's the real deal on the bottom right of course):

If there's going to be a Pretty Woman 2, we'd recommend him for the part for sure…

And of course, no drag queen is complete without a perfect Beyoncé look in her repetoire:

It seems Julia Roberts really has some of the best security teams out there, especially when it comes to her house.

Julia’s next door neighbours have revealed that a man tried to break into her $9.5million Malibu mansion, last January.

But apparently it wasn’t long till the intruder was met by Robert’s ex-Us military security guards and was “slam dunked” into cactus bushes surrounding her house, as a result.

Julia’s neighbour went onto to describe that a lot of police cars soon came rushing down to star’s house.

“By the time I got there, the man was just crawling out of the cactus bush outside her property and the security guards were talking to the police. One of them was boasting saying: ‘I’m an ex-Marine and I just picked him up and threw him head first in the cactus.’”

Security revealed to the same neighbour that he was a crazed stalker guy and was brave for even trying to break into the 46-year-old’s actress mansion, considering all the security detail she has.

But it seems despite the security guards best efforts, the intruder managed to get away. Although you would think, he’d be hard to miss, considering all the cactus thorns that would be sticking out of him.
