Yearly Archives: 2023

It is currently being hailed as the movie of the summer, and now, we finally have a full trailer for it!

The team behind Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has just released a trailer for the upcoming movie, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

The film, which stars Margot Robbie as the iconic doll and Ryan Gosling as her boyfriend Ken, has been teased for months with paparazzi photos, as well as two brief teaser trailers.

Watch the brand-new trailer here:

So far, the cast and crew have remained pretty tight-lipped about the contents of the plot. However, this glitzy trailer has given us a few glimpses of what we can expect.

The brief video showcases our main Barbie and Ken – played by Robbie and Gosling – as they venture outside of colourful Barbie Land for the very first time.

Things quickly start to go sideways for the pair, as they end up getting arrested by Los Angeles police, and the general public begin to panic as a real-life Barbie walks among them.

Credit: Warner Bros.

We just have a few burning questions – will Barbie and Ken ever be able to adapt to our world, or will they be able to return to the safety of Barbie Land?

In its official description for the highly-anticipated flick, Warner Bros. Pictures penned: “To live in Barbie Land is to be a perfect being in a perfect place. Unless you have a full-on existential crisis. Or you’re a Ken.”

The full cast for Barbie was released last month and plays host to a wealth of star-studded names, including the likes of Will Ferrell, Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, singer Dua Lipa and Sex Education actor Ncuti Gatwa.

Upon its reveal, audiences discovered that the cast has been divided into three groups – various Barbies, Kens, and Humans. Helen Mirren has also been confirmed as the official narrator for the movie, as she appeared in its first-ever teaser trailer.

Co-written and directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie is set to be released worldwide on July 21. We can’t wait to watch it!

Circle K, Ireland’s largest forecourt and convenience retailer, has today announced that a new ‘When you Fill, Support Jack and Jill’ fundraising initiative will run throughout the June Bank Holiday weekend at participating sites nationwide, including Circle K Express sites.

From Friday 2nd to Monday 5th June 2023 inclusive, 1c from every litre of miles fuel purchased at participating Circle K sites nationwide will automatically be donated to the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is an Irish children’s charity that funds and delivers vital in-home nursing, respite support, and end-of-life care for children from birth to six years of age who have highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions. There are currently over 400 children under the care of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation right across the country and the charity’s mission is to empower parents to care for their child at home, because there is no care like home care for a Jack and Jill child.

Commenting on the initiative, Gillian McGowran, Director of Market Development at Circle K Ireland said: “We are delighted to announce a new fundraising initiative for the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, ‘When you Fill, Support Jack and Jill’, that will see 1c from every litre of fuel purchased over the June Bank Holiday weekend donated to Jack and Jill. The June Bank Holiday is one of the busiest weekends on Irish roads and at our fuel pumps, making it a great opportunity to raise funds for such an important cause. The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation and its nursing team provide invaluable support to families in communities across Ireland and just by choosing to refuel at one of our participating sites this weekend, our customers can easily donate to the charity’’.

Carmel Doyle, CEO of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation added: “Our friends in Circle K continue to go that extra mile to help support our local families and this brilliant fundraising initiative is no exception. Knowing we have Circle K, its staff, partners and customers on board keeps us on the road, literally, helping us to provide our vital in-home nursing service, giving our families that much-needed break. This bank holiday fundraiser is going to make a real, tangible and genuine difference for our families and I’m asking all our friends to get motoring to Circle K to fill up and to say thank you.”

Circle K ambassador, soccer star and broadcaster Stephanie Roche is once again lending her support to this Jack and Jill initiative. Stephanie concluded: “I am thrilled to continue supporting Circle K and the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation’s fundraising efforts this year. It’s brilliant that Circle K has made it so easy for the public to donate to such an important cause, and from 2nd-5th June, just by choosing to fill at a participating Circle K, you will be supporting Jack and Jill, as 1c from every litre of miles fuel purchased will be donated to the charity. I will be paying a visit to my local Circle K over the June Bank Holiday weekend to fuel up and support.”

Dani Dyer is now a mum to twins!

The former Love Island winner has welcomed twins with her boyfriend, footballer Jarrod Bowen. The couple are now parents to identical twin girls.

This is the first time that the pair have welcomed a child together, as Dani is already a mum to two-year-old son Santiago from a previous relationship.

The 26-year-old decided to take to social media to announce the wonderful news. Dani, who is the daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, shared three beautiful snaps of her baby girls, as well as an image of new dad Jarrod carrying them out of hospital.

Dani simply chose to caption her announcement post with the date of her twins' births – May 22 – followed by a love heart. She has yet to reveal the names of her baby girls.

Many famous faces have since taken to the mum-of-three's Instagram comments section to congratulate her and Jarrod on their new arrivals.

"congratulations. They are so cute," gushed former TOWIE star Ferne McCann, who is currently expecting her second child.

"Can’t stop smiling," added Dani's father Danny.

“We have been keeping a little secret… Our little TWINS,” Dani and Jarrod gushed at the time. “So excited to meet our babies and watch santi be the best big brother..”

Speaking about his final Late Late Show, Ryan has said, “Tomorrow night is going to be a night of endings for sure, but beginnings for definite. While I will be saying a lot of goodbyes for my last Late Late Show, it will also be a night of gratitude. Gratitude to all the people I have worked with and continue to work with and their families. And enormous gratitude to the guests, the artists, the singers, and the ‘doers’ who have come through the door and graced us with their presence”.

“And of course, my greatest gratitude to my family who have been so loving and patient and my greatest supporters. They are the ones to whom I dedicate my last show. They are my constant. I love them so much and I want them to know that”.

He continued, “I also want to say thank you to the viewers who stuck with me, with us and with the show for the past 14 years. The viewers’ loyalty, decency, kindness and generosity has taken my breath away on a weekly basis. I sit looking at my desk this morning at about 300 or 400 cards and letters from people I don't even know, that have come from all around Ireland and in some cases all around the world”.

“I am humbled, I am grateful, and I am excited because this is the end of one phase of this extraordinarily exciting life I have had so far. I will be turning the big 5-0 on Sunday, so it’s the perfect time to look ahead and welcome a new chapter. Until I am ready to share that next chapter, I am going to take some time off, I will reflect and process it all. My final words about my final Late Late Show are ‘Thank You’”.

Ashley Banjo has opened up about fatherhood following his split from wife Francesca.

Ashley and Francesca, who are parents to four-year-old Rose and two-year-old Micah, announced they were going their separate ways in December of last year after being together since they were teenagers.

Now, the Diversity dancer has shared an insight into being a dad-of-two and revealed his best advice for his children as he speaks about wisdom he wants them to understand.

Credit: Ashley Banjo Instagram

While chatting with OK!, Ashley explained, “This is such a generic answer but it’s the truth. It’s [fatherhood] the best thing in the world”.

“It’s the thing that drives you, it makes you proud, it makes you brave, it makes everything great. I love my kids so much”.

When divulging wisdom he wants his little ones to know, the former Britain’s Got Talent winner said, “I think, more than anything else, I want to teach them to realise that even if there are people around – authority, teachers, parents, adults – they’re not all going to be good or always give you good advice”.

“I want to teach them to have self-worth and to trust their own instincts, and just to realise that not every single person who talks to them whether it be through social media or in life in general, is giving vibes”.

Credit: Ashley Banjo Instagram

Ashley then admitted if he’d like Rose and Micah to follow in his dancing shoes and if they show any signs of dancing interest yet.

“They show dance enjoyment. I’d like to think I’ll be encouraging, so I wouldn’t tell them if they had no rhythm! But then, I wouldn’t tell them they were good if they weren’t, either”.

When he and Francesca announced they were splitting up, they both shared the same message to Instagram, revealing that their children were ‘always the main focus’.

“After much thought and consideration we both feel now is the time to share some personal news. Nearly 18 months ago we took the difficult decision to separate. After being together for over 16 years, since we were teenagers, this is not a decision that has been taken lightly”.

Credit: Ashley Banjo Instagram

“It has not been easy and the processing of the situation has not been fast by any means. But we feel that as we approach the new year it is time to share this news with others”.

The statement continued, “Our main focus will always be our beautiful children. Every decision that has been made is to make sure we can continue as a loving family and give the very best of ourselves as parents”.

“Raising Rose and Micah in a healthy and happy environment is the most important thing to both of us. Sometimes after so many years people just move in different directions, but we do so lovingly and we continue to try and be both the best parents possible and the best of friends to each other”.

Khloe Kardashian has finally confirmed the name she has chosen for her baby boy.

Khloe welcomed her son into the world via surrogate in July of last year with her ex-partner Tristan Thompson.

After keeping their baby’s name a secret for almost 10 months, Khloe confirmed his moniker during an episode of the brand-new third season of The Kardashians.

While chatting about the arrival of her son to James Corden, Khloe was asked what his name is and finally she confirmed, “His name is Tatum. So, Tatum and True”.

The 38-year-old admitted, “Naming a human is really hard”.

The mum-of-two previously teased that her son’s name began with a ‘T’ during her appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Khloe revealed, “He’s named, but I haven’t announced it yet. Originally, he was delivered via surrogate, or the stork I like to say, and at first I really did not know what I was going to name him. I wanted to meet him and feel him out a little bit so at first he didn’t have a name. Then, he’s been named”.

Credit: Khloe Kardashian Instagram

“I’ve been waiting for the premiere of our show and I didn’t know it was going to be this far out, so now I’m just like, ‘If my daughter outs me, I’m screwed’”.

“I think it will start with a T, yeah, it will start with a T”, she added.

Khloe is also mum to five-year-old True, so has decided to keep the tradition of naming her children monikers that begin with the same letter as her mum, Kris, did with her daughters Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie.

During The Kardashians new episode, Khloe opened up about her experience with a surrogate and admitted it felt ‘transactional’.

Credit: Khloe Kardashian Instagram

“I definitely buried my head in the sand during that pregnancy, that I didn't digest what was happening. I think when I went to the hospital, I think that was the first time that it really registered”.

“I think it has nothing to do with the baby. It’s just you're like, ‘OK, we’re having a baby, and this is my son, and I’m taking him home with me’”.

The reality TV star continued, “I definitely was in a state of shock from my entire experience in general. I felt really guilty that this woman just had my baby and then I take the baby and I go to another room and you're just sort of separated”.

“I felt it's such a transactional experience… I wish someone was honest about surrogacy and the difference of it. But it doesn't mean it's bad or good. It's just different”.

If you’re on the lookout for a new, fun, romantic comedy, then you need to check out The Broken Hearts Gallery, which is on Netflix.

The film follows the always unique Lucy, played by Geraldine Viswanathan, a 20-something art gallery assistant living in New York City, who also happens to be an emotional hoarder (something she despises being called).

Lucy has saved a souvenir from every relationship she’s ever been in, including her most recent failed attempt. After she gets dumped (again), Lucy is inspired to create 'The Broken Heart Gallery', a pop-up space for the items love has left behind.

Word of the gallery spreads, encouraging a movement and a fresh start for all the romantics out there, including Lucy herself.

I must say, watching The Broken Hearts Gallery was a true joy from beginning until end. This fresh take on the classic romantic-comedy genre is just what I needed. The cheesy moments that were sprinkled throughout were perfectly balanced by the sharp jokes and zingy one-liners.

Lucy is the empowering female lead, we’ve always wanted to see in a rom-com, but are rarely satisfied with. Her hilarious wit and goofy demeanour are offset by her ambitious nature and ruthless determination. The film also features strong female friendships, a smouldering love-interest, and a karaoke scene that rivals Sonny and Cher.

Nick, played by Stranger Things actor, Dacre Montgomery, has a cynical charm that contrasts with Lucy’s shameless optimism, making their red-hot chemistry something we rooted for from the very beginning. Watching their relationship grow was such a delight.

Other cast members include Phillipa Soo, from Broadway’s Hamilton, Molly Gordon of Booksmart and Broad City’s Arturo Castro. The film is executive produced by Selena Gomez and was delivered by first-time filmmaker, Natalie Kinsky.

Make sure to check out The Broken Hearts Gallery on Netflix now. You won't regret it!
