It's been six whole years since our last dose of Sex and the City goodness, so you can imagine our excitement upon hearing that actress Kim Cattrall (aka Ms Samantha Jones) really wants Sex and the City 3 to happen.

In an interview with the Express – which was published yesterday – Kim revealed that all involved would love for a third SATC movie to become a reality.

The 59-year-old star said: "Of course there should be a third film! I think we would all love it. I mean, what would the story be?"

And when asked if she feared the film would flop, Kim gave the perfect SATC-inspired response:  "To quote Samantha Jones ''If I worried about what every b***h said about me I wouldn't leave the house!'"

Kim – who is currently in Edinburgh at the city's Film Festival – then explained why she thinks there's more to her alter-ego Samantha than meets the eye.

She said: "When she is showing off and doing her business and amusing and entertaining everyone, underneath it is fear that she'll be alone and you start to understand that part of when you do that."

According to Kim, it's the relatable nature of the programme's characters which made the show such a success: "That's the relation and I think that the beauty of the show is that those four characters really, I feel, represented one complete woman. Different sides, different moods, different parts of being feminine."

"You can have those moments of any one of those characters and understand them in a more complete way."

Since the last hint of Sex and the City 3 fell through, we're going to wait with everything crossed in the hope that this dream will become a reality.

With six full seasons – and two movies to boot – of Carrie Bradshaw's romantic antics, we can't imagine anyone else in the key Sex And The City roles.

Take Mr. Big, for example. No-one else but Chris Noth could have charmed Carrie with that smile as she dropped an entire handbag full of condoms onto the ground, we're sure of it.

But if things had gone a little differently, Carrie's main squeeze could have been played by someone else entirely. SATC's creator Darren Starr revealed in an interview this week that he had someone entirely different in mind for the role.

"I was thinking of Alec Baldwin for Big initially," Darren admitted, adding that he didn't know much about Chris Noth before meeting him for his first audition.

"I don’t really watch Law & Order [Chris's main show prior to SATC], but I met with Chris Noth and thought he was perfect.

"I remember the first table read, how good he was. I’m not saying that Chris was Mr. Big, but he brought a lot of his own persona to the role."

Abso-f***in'-lutely, he did.

But it's not just Big who could have been played by a very different face – Darren revealed he had another actor in mind for the role of Aidan too.

"We initially were thinking about Aidan Quinn for Aidan, but I think he wasn’t available.

"I loved John Corbett [the actor who eventually went on to play Aidan] in Northern Exposure, and we were like, ‘Well, what’s John Corbett been up to?’

"He just had the laconic, dudish vibe. But we kept ‘Aidan’ because we loved the name."

Okay, Alec Baldwin we can *just* about get over, but someone else in the role of Aidan? No. JUST NO.

Sex And The City fans, get yourselves on a bus to Cavan stat.

One of the show's biggest stars, Chris Noth, is in the area, having arrived at the local library yesterday with a crew from the US genealogy show Who Do You Think You Are.

Yup, one of Mr. Big's great grandparents was a Cavan native, and Chris can trace his roots all the way back to Knockbride, near Bailieborough.

"I had no idea who was coming until about 4pm the day before," Tom Sullivan, Cavan's County Librarian told Today FM this morning.

"The whole process took most of the day, there was a lot of waiting around, but he was happy to sit and relax and read some of our books."

And if you're thinking Chris Noth might have been a bit of a d**khead like his Good Wife character, you'd be oh-so wrong, it seems.

"Absolutely no demands at all, an absolute gentleman," said Tom.

"He came in and got some photos taken, he was delighted to be in Cavan. He was enthralled with the greenness of the country.

"There was a queue of people to see him, and he was most obliging in all aspects, an absolute gent, he couldn't have been more decent."

And now for the most important thing – WHERE IS HE TODAY?

"I have a feeling that they're somewhere in Cavan," says Tom.

"He may just be touring around or doing more work for the show."

See you in Cavan, ladies.

While many of us consider the relationship between Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big to be a fairytale ending to Sex and the City, the series' creator would have done things a little differently.

Darren Star, American television producer behind the show, revealed he was ultimately unhappy with how the hit HBO show concluded.

"I think the show ultimately betrayed what it was about, which was that women don't ultimately find happiness from marriage," said Darren in a recent interview for Kindle Singles.

"Not that they can't. But the show initially was going off script from the romantic comedies that had come before it. That's what had made women so attached."

Carrie met Mr. Big in the first episode of the series that ran from 1996 to 2004 and many fans felt it was a fitting conclusion that the couple ended up together.

The pair ultimately went on to marry in the first Sex and the City movie.

The 54-year-old producer revealed that the decision to have Mr. Big and Carrie end up together was made by other producers and writers on the series.

"For me, in a way – I didn't [write] those last episodes. At a certain point, you've got to let them follow their vision.

"At the end, it became a conventional romantic comedy. But unless you're there to write every episode, you're not going to get the ending you want."

We don't mind because we love a good fairytale ending, even if it's totally not real life.

If you were a Sex and the City fan, you either thought Carrie made a mess of her love life; or you think it turned out in the best way possible.

And if you were a Sex and the City fan, you also had a favourite boyfriend of Carrie's, right?

Well, two of Carrie's lovers had a mini reunion over the weekend in Beverly Hills, and we have to say, it's good to see the two men together again.

Chris North, who played Mr Big and John Corbett, who played Aidan Shaw posed for a photo during the Spotlight celebration in LA.

The men are both working hard at the moment, as John plays Governor of Illinois candidate Peter Florrick on The Good Wife, which is on its seventh series.

Meanwhile, Chris has a new movie coming out this year, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, which is sure to be a box office hit.

If we had Carrie Bradshaw's leading men meet up every weekend, we'd be very happy, indeed, because we miss these guys on the TV.

From being broken up with by a note on a Post-It or having you're best friends boyfriend seeing you naked, we assumed that all the best moments from Sex and the City that we love so much were inspired by the experiences of real women.

But according to Cynthia Nixon who played Miranda Hobbs on the show, the writing team did not including anything in the scripts that had not happened to a woman they actually knew.

"Even though crazy and outlandish things happen in Sex And The City, fantastical things seemingly, they had a rule in the writers room that they couldn't put anything into an episode that hadn't literally happened to someone in the writer's room or someone that they knew first hand," said the actress speaking to IMDb Asks.

"It couldn't be 'my father's brother's sister's shoe-repair guy heard once…' kind of thing – so the physical and sexual things that happened were real tales."

While we can't believe that this policy continued for the movies, it definitely helps to explain why this seminal series resonated with so many women and continues to do so today.

"It was amazingly well written and very complicated in a way and so I think it's the reason it can bare repeated viewing."

"It's very dense and so much happens in every episode. The way the threads of the four different plotlines with the four different women intertwine is very intricate."

Does this mean that romances like Carrie and Big's can happen in real life too?

Ah, vodka. The Sex and the City girls always enjoyed a glass or two.

It can bring out the good, the bad and the very ugly.

But it's not hard to see why it's one of the most popular alcoholic drinks around the world – it's very neutral, has no harsh smells, and mixes well with many other drinks.

However, vodka can be used for many other things other than getting sloshed… Shocker!

It can actually be used for medical reasons, hygienic uses, and cleaning solutions around the house too.

Treat a tooth ache

When you start having a tooth ache, pour some vodka on a small cotton ball and put it on the gums around your sore tooth. After a few minutes it will start to alleviate the pain.

Prevents dandruff

Mix a shot glass of vodka with a glass of water and use it to rinse out your hair after washing it with your normal shampoo. This prevents any left over shampoo or dead skin from building up.

Use as a mouthwash

Vodka is a great disinfectant and brilliant for killing odours too. Combine vodka with water and add a few teaspoons of cinnamon to create a refreshing mouthwash.

Bug repellent

Vodka is actually an extremely effective bug repellent. Just pour some into a spray bottle and keep it with you on holidays to warn all the nasty flies away.

Cure jellyfish sting

Instead of going through the clichéd "should I pee on my friend's leg" inner monologue, the next time someone gets stung by a jellyfish try putting vodka on it. It will sooth the sting within 10-20 minutes.

Use as a deodorant

Feeling a bit sticky but have no deodorant on hand? A few squirts of vodka from a spray bottle will do away with any bad odours.

Keep your razor in it

The main reason why razors become so dull so quickly is because small amounts of hair, water and shaving cream are left on the blades after every use. Next time, soak your razor in a cup of vodka, it will totally clean out your blade and disinfect it for your next use.

Clean Windows

Another product that relies primarily on alcohol for its effectiveness is your average window cleaner. Swap it with vodka and it will do just as good of a job.

Clean mould or grease

Greasy dishes or a grubby bathroom? Use vodka and a sturdy brush to remove the dirt easily. For dishes, leave them soaking for about 5 minutes and they will appear as good as new.

Stop clothes from fading

Sometimes dark clothes fade, and the worst thing is they will fade in some places and not in others. To help protect your clothes from this, mix vodka and lavender and spray onto your clothes. They will never fade again – and smell great too.

Sex And The City has remained Sarah Jessica Parker's biggest and most memorable screen performances… ever.

But it has now been revealed that she had major doubts about her role before the show even started.

Indeed, SJP and husband Matthew Broderick shared their concerns with American musician and actor, Seth Rudetsky.

Seth worked with Matthew and Sarah on a Broadway show throughout the year and that was were Sarah told Seth her biggest doubts.

Talking to US Vogue, Seth said: "We, of course, talked about Sex And The City, and turns out, Sarah was reluctant to do the pilot because she didn't really want to do a series.

"However she loved the script so she filmed it and then forgot about it. Months later she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it. I mean, completely."

Well, this comes as a MAJOR shock.

Seth added: "She tried various ways to get out of it, including telling HBO that she would film three projects for free if they'd release her from her contract!

"Basically, they convinced her to honour her deal, and she now has no regrets." You don't say.

We are definitely relieved that Sarah stayed on the play the part of the foever-famous Carrie Bradshaw.

Have you ever been in the middle of the most rapid fire WhatsApp conversation with your BFF and thought ‘what emoji would Carrie Bradshaw have used?’

Well, now you can find out the answer. Candace Bushnell, author of the original Sex and the City novel, is transforming your texting and messaging limits with the launch of her new app.

The new and improved SATC themed emoji keyboard provides all the possible little symbols necessary for you to really bring your inner Miranda to the social media table.

The app is being launched in conjunction with Bushnell’s newest novel, Killing Monica. The page turner is supposedly an addictive story about love, fame and foolishness.

With all the trademark sassy humour that Bushnell introduced us to from the ultimate besties in SATC, we can only imagine her latest novel will be a good one.

In the meantime, if you’re not too keen on diving into a new novel, you can still relive some of your favourite memories of Carrie and the gang with the new app.

Are you in dire need of a decent cocktail on a Friday evening? Text your whole squad the champagne glasses emoji and you’re sorted.

There’s even a ‘sorry not sorry’ emoji for when you really just couldn’t be bothered. We feel like Samantha would most definitely approve.

The app is available on the Apple App Store for iOS devices.

The past few days there has been A LOT of speculation about a third Sex and the City movie after Sarah Jessica Parker posted a cryptic Instagram post that channeled her inner Carrie Bradshaw and sent fans crazy.

Unfortunately, we are now here to break all your Sex and the City loving hearts. SJP has cleared up the rumours and it was in fact related to something completely different.

Nooooo!

The star was actually hinting about her shoe collection with Bloomingdales, which some people had guessed it was to begin with, unlike the rest of us who had already started planning which crew to invite to the cinema with us and started watching the entire show again from series one…

Awks.

She shared the news on her Instagram for her SJP collection, along with the caption: "Pinch me, I'm dreaming. After months and months of sworn secrecy, I can finally shout the news from the rooftop. Or even better, from the iconic @bloomingdales awning. Welcome to New York, @sjpcollection. You're going to love it here. Finally, a permanent home in NYC. Ps. Forgive me for any previous misunderstandings. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle. Yours forever, Sj x"

We are so excited about her Bloomingdale's news, but forgiving SJ for this won't be easy…

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker turns 50 today, and while she's already hit headlines in the last 24 hours by showing off her seriously epic side-eye, we couldn't let that be the only way we marked her big day!

SJP will forever be remembered for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, and while we loved the show and the characters to pieces, there's no denying that Carrie could be a little annoying at times. Okay, very annoying. All the time.

Here are just a few moments that made us cringe internally…

1. The time she freaked out while trying on wedding dresses
Of course it's going to make you itchy, it's made of cheap ugly lace…

2. The time she forced Charlotte to pawn her engagement ring to help with rent
What. On. Earth.

3. The time she said "You have to forgive me" over and over and over after cheating
Shutupshutupshutup.

4. The time she couldn't grasp how a computer worked
Thank God he couldn't see you right then, Carrie.

5. The time she compared herself to a horse in Central Park
As you do.

6. Every time she brought the conversation back to her own problems
Abortions, cancer, divorce… she always managed to link it back to her own life. Commendable, really.

7. The time she partied all night before a shoot and was annoyed when she looked bad
That's life, Carrie.

8. The time she pinned a giant corsage onto her dress just 'cos.
Not to mention the many, many other questionable outfit choices. Oh, Carrie. Stick to the Dior.

There are so many great TV lovestories out there that warm our heart and make us believe in true love. Then, there are these lot…

Destructive, annoying and just downright disastrous, here are eight of TV's worst couples:

Carrie and Big – Sex and the City
They may have ended up together but Big didn't have a patch on Aiden and treated Carrie so badly most of the time. Not that she was much better, mind.

Rachel and Joey – Friends
Friends rarely got it wrong but this may have been the worst storyline of all time…EVER!

Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian – Keeping Up with the Kardashians
Anybody could see they weren't meant to be but the lavish wedding went ahead anyway…only to result in Kim filing for divorce 72 days later.

Blair and Dan – Gossip Girl
Now these two were pretty good together, that we cannot deny – but Dan isn't Chuck. End of.

Barney and Robin – How I Met Your Mother
The married couple survived a few years before getting a divorce – because we all know where Robin's heart ultimately lies (albeit controversially!)

Piper and Alex – Orange Is The New Black
Piper and Alex are very complicated and destructive so far. Their relationship is based on lies and betrayal. However, who knows what will come next season…? Could it be true love?

Jamie and Cersei Lannister – Game Of Thrones
No need to explain this one…*shudder*

Nick and Jess – New Girl
We waited and waited and then it finally happened but it just wasn't…right.
