Nicki Minaj

A great many things happened at this year’s VMAs that had people talking.

Kanye’s bid for presidency and Justin Bieber’s emotional rollercoaster however were pretty much eclipsed by the back and forth between Nicki Minaj and host Miley Cyrus.

While many have been saying that the while production, including the tears of Bieber was staged, others are pointing to Miley’s reaction as proof that Nicki went off-script with her apparent diss.

But how did we get to this point? It seems like these were two artists who were practically pals? Were they not in the studio together working on a track at some point?

Apparently, things may not be all that that seemed as we took a look back at the relationship between the duo over the last few years.

In 2012 Miley dressed as Nicki for Halloween. Nicki then told USA Today that she was the “best Nicki Minaj impersonator I’ve seen in my life!”

In 2013 Miley spoke about how the two were often compared to one another, but wanted to point out that they were two very different people:

“A lot of people wanted to try to make me the white Nicki Minaj. That’s not what I’m trying to do. I love ’hood’ music, but my talent is as a singer.”

Later that year the two appeared to be working together in the studio, but Nicki later told E! News that “it didn’t work out.”

Then Anaconda went on to break Miley’s Wrecking Ball record on Vevo, before Miley posted a photo of herself with a very Nicki Minaj-esque physique.

Nicki couldn’t seem to find “one good reason” Miley would do such a thing, but she seemed to be able to laugh it off as a joke.

In the run up to the VMAs however, things took a definite turn as Miley told the New York Times about Nicki’s back and forth with Taylor Swift: “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind.”

Judging from Nicki’s sharp response on stage, it looks like things between this two may not always have been as friendly as we thought.

Every year, something dramatic goes down at the MTV VMAs (we're thinking Kanye storming the stage to ambush Taylor Swift in 2012, or Britney's car-crash Piece Of Me staging in 2007), but last night just seemed particularly insane.

We were all expecting the MANY crazy outfits by host Miley Cyrus, but no one was expecting the major shade thrown between her and Nicki Minaj.

Miley made it clear earlier this week that she had zero interest in patching things up with Nicki following their recent Twitter feud.

But Nicki was not about to let her have the last word. While accepting the award for Best Hip Hop Video, the Anaconda singer turned her attention back to the host saying: "Back to this bitch, who had a lot to say about me in the press the other day."

Rebel Wilson, who was on stage with Nicki at the time, had an expression so shocked that it pretty much summed up how the entire world was feeling watching at that very moment.

No – there was just no getting away from the serious awkwardness of the entire scenario.

Miley was always going to create controversy of sorts at the awards ceremony, but we're not sure this is what she had in mind. Still, and in fairness to the Wrecking Ball singer, she actually managed to acknowledge the shade without throwing it back at her.

“Hey, we’re all in this industry, we all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate shit," she said politely.

“Nicki, congratulations.”

To make things even worse for the 22-year-old, Nicki and Taylor Swift seemed like they were serious besties last night, even though Taylor was recently involved in her own well-documented Twitter feud with the rapper.

The pair performed together at the awards and Nicki even tweeted afterwards to say: "Taylor, thank you for being epic."

Indeed, it seems like the Trinidad and Tobago native is trying to create her very own girl squad (sans former Hannah Montana star Miley, natch): she posted a picture last night of her look from the red carpet alongside Tay-Tay, Demi Lovato and Britney Spears.

Miley arguably got the last laugh though, as she made the HUGE announcement of a forthcoming album which she has kept completely under wraps.

She surprised fans saying she would be releasing her new album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz online… for FREE!

The ceremony then closed with Miley singing and dancing with the cast of RuPaul's Drag Race.

While gearing up to present the MTV VMAs this Sunday, Miley Cyrus gave the New York Times an insight into what she is planning for the gig… and she had a few choice words for some of the attendees.

The singer made sure to address the controversy kicked off by Nicki Minaj a few months ago, making it clear she wasn't happy with how things went down.

As you probably remember, Nicki got caught up in quite the mess with fellow pop star Taylor Swift when she took to social media to express her disgust at not being nominated for a VMA for Anaconda.

The Pink Friday hitmaker tweeted: "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

Although Nicki didn't address Miley (or anyone else) directly in her tweet, the Wrecking Ball singer was quick to get on the defence, saying the comments were uncalled for.

"Jealousy does the opposite of what you want it to — that's a yoga mantra," Miley told the NYT. "People forget that the choices that they make and how they treat people in life affect you in a really big way."

Refusing to let Nicki off the hook easily, she continued, "If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don't respect your statement because of the anger that came with it."

She also suggested that Nicki may be acting a bit spoilt after missing out on the nomination. "It's not anger like, 'Guys, I'm frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.' You made it about you. Not to sound like a b*tch, but that's like, 'Eh, I didn't get my VMA.'" Miley added.

"What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It's not very polite."

OUCH.

We’ve probably all left something behind in a hotel or hostel at some stage; usually it’s a phone charger, or a much-loved bra, or still half-full bottle of fake-tan.

The worst is weddings – somehow you never manage to make it home with everything you arrived with.

Do you ring and enquire about getting it back? Or simply take the loss on the chin – vowing to be more cautious next time?

Well, it seems if you’re Nicki Minaj you fall into the latter category… even if the item in question is worth a cool €10,000.

Yes, the rapper and singer was in New York City over the weekend for her brother’s wedding, which was held at the Coral House in Long Island.

The 32-year-old evidently brought along a few outfit options too; an unworn, full-length Emilio Pucci gown was left in the wardrobe in the bridal suite, where the star had been getting ready.

The tags, which are still attached, confirm that the garment is worth the eye-watering five-figure sum. As well as boasting beautifully crafted beading and sequin, the silk number has intrinsic detailing on the hem, waist, and sleeves.

Now Butch Yamali, the owner of the Coral House, is trying to get the dress back to her – but, given its value, he's cautious of handing it over too readily.

Indeed, he says someone has already called asking for the dress, but Mr Yamali was suspicious that the individual in question wasn't legitimately from Nicki's camp… so he declined to part with it.

Meaning as yet, the €10K dress remains unclaimed. The exact same dress was previously seen on a pregnant Ciara at the Grammys last year – so perhaps Nicki feels getting it back just isn't worth the hassle.

Could we maybe have it instead?

This week, Zayn Malik allegedly threw shade Taylor Swift's way – retweeting a message that implied the songstress is more focused on making money than using her fame for good.

It was a move that prompted Tay-Tay's boyf Calvin Harris to launch a full-on attack on the former One Directioner… though the Scottish DJ later relayed somewhat, complimenting Mr Malik on his "great voice".

Still, it's certainly not the first time that 25-year-old Ms Swift has been involved in a tiff. In fact, trouble and feuding seems to follow the singer-songwriter.

Here, we chronicle the highs and lows of her top six fall-outs:

Taylor Vs Katy:

The original feud! We can hardly remember what kicked it all off at this stage – something to do with Katy, 30, allegedly stealing her former friend's dancers for a world tour (why were the dancers so eager to leave, we'd like to know).

And even now, it seems it's the stand-off that refuses to die-down.

In fact, just late last month, Ms Swift brought on stage with her during a concert in Massachusetts an over-sized shark – a prop Katy famously used during her Super Bowl performance. She evidently thought it was hilarious; others were less enthused.

Of course after Taylor's high-profile Bad Blood video, we're guessing that a kiss-and-make-up scenario isn't on the cards anytime soon.

Taylor Vs Miley:

We love that Ms Cyrus, 22, speaks her mind – and speak her mind she certainly did during a recent interview with Marie Clare.

“I don’t get the violence revenge thing,” the singer said referring to Taylor's Bad Blood video. “That’s supposed to be a good example?

"And I’m a bad role model because I’m running around with my titties out? I’m not sure how titties are worse than guns.”

Now, HollywoodLife.com reports that Ms Swift knows Miley doesn't like her (FYI: Katy and Ms Cyrus are mates – and Tay-Tay thinks the former turned the latter against her).

In fact, Swifty is SERIOUSLY concerned that the Wrecking Ball singer is going to have a pop at her at the VMAs in two weeks' time: Miley is presenting; Taylor is up for nine awards.

We can't wait.

Taylor Vs Nicki

Speaking of the VMAs – Taylor was left red-faced when she assumed Nicki Minaj's VMA Twitter rant was about her (it's not always all about you, Tay-Tay).

Ms Minaj, 32, had been complaining that her mega-hit Anaconda didn't get a Best Video nomination (which actually does seem a bit strange).

"If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies," her online complaint began, "you will be nominated for vid of the year." Cue Taylor jumping in, taking it all personal.

Predictably, within 24hours Katy Perry just couldn't resist elbowing her way into the situation with her own online contribution.

Wowsers. Anyway – Twitter went properly into meltdown over the whole situation, and Tays later took a chill pill and admitted that she had probably jumped to conclusions.

She also invited Ms Minaj to join her on stage "anytime," (pretty sure the woman sells out her own concerts, mind). The duo subsequently seem to be on good terms – for the moment anyway.

Taylor Vs John

The Pennsylvanian singer and a guitar-weilding John Mayer had a brief romance – although things didn't end too well. Then she wrote a song, Dear John, which he claims is a bit mean.

Lines include: "Don't you think 19 is too young to be played by your dark twisted games, when I loved you so?" and "I lived in your chess game, but you changed the rules every day."

These days, Mr Mayer says she just ignores him.

"You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best, being avoided by Taylor Swift," the 37-year-old said while hosting the Late, Late Show back in February.

John and a certain Katy Perry, of course, have had an on-off thing since 2012 – which probably doesn't help matters.

Taylor Vs Apple and Spotify

Taylor famously withdrew her music from Spotify because she says they weren't giving her enough dough – though the likes of U2, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney don't seem to mind. Anyhoo, her argument is: "Music is art, and art is important and rare.

"Important, rare things are valuable. Valuable things should be paid for."

So, what's the alternative? Well, funny you ask… because in early June Apple began its music streaming service – a platform that, until Tay-Tay bemoaned its payment policy just a few weeks after its launch, many folk were unfamiliar with.

"We don't ask you for free iPhones. Please don't ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation," she said in an open letter.

The tech corporation quickly did a U-turn, as confirmed by executive Eddy Cue on Twitter.

And so in the end everyone involved seemed rather happy – especially the woman herself, who just days after the incident announced that she'd be releasing her mega-selling 1989 album… on Apple. Yup, everyone's happy, so.

Taylor Vs Tina Fey AND Amy Poehler

We hardly know where to look – comediennes Tina and Amy are living legends, after all. But a couple of years ago, Swifty just didn't find them all that funny

Why? Well, the duo were hosting the Golden Globes in 2013, peppering the gig with plenty of tongue-in-cheek gags. Over the course of the evening, they even made fun of Miss Taylor's dating history.

Tays didn't seem to see the funny side though and later told Vanity Fair: "there's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

Ouch.

In contrast, for example, the likes of Hollywood legend Leonardo DiCaprio managed to smile and say nadda at the receiving end of similarly scathing remarks.

Indeed, last year he did just that when Ms Fey announced his arrival on the Golden Globes stage with the properly hilarious: “And now, like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio…"

Oops! Nicki Minaj should have probably given a different position a whirl when deciding how she would look for her Madame Tussauds wax statue.

The wax figure while stands in the Las Vegas Tussauds at the Venetian Hotel and Casino, has caused them to have to up their security as people are getting a little too close for comfort to the statue.

Inspired by her Anaconda music video, the wax is molded into the shape of the rapper on all fours in a black bikini with gold chains.

According to the The Mirror, the statue has been molested as people just can't keep their hands off Nicki's curves, even if it isn't actually her.

Turns out Iggy Azalea called it! She tweeted when it was first unveiled saying "All ppl are gonna do is go up to that statue and take pictures shoving their crotch in her face and putting their crotch on her butt."

And she was totally right as fans and visitors to the exhibition began tweeting and Instagramming pictures doing just that to unsuspecting Nicki in Las Vegas.

Madame Tussauds have even released a statement regarding it in which they said:

"We have been made aware of the inappropriate photograph that was taken at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, involving Nicki Minaj's new wax figure."

"It is unfortunate that this visitor decided to behave so inappropriately and we apologise for any offence that has been cause"

Following a fued with Nicki's boyfriend Meek Mill and Drake, it seems the singer is steering the attention away as she may have just announced her pregnancy.

At her concert in Chicago, Nicki brought boyfriend Meek on stage but when she introduced him saying 'Introducing my baby father', the crowd went wild.

32-year-old Nicki began dating Meek in December of last year and they sparked engagement rumours a few months back when she posted a photo to Instagram wearing a huge ring, but Meek later denied the rumours.

The pregnancy rumours have yet to be confirmed by either of the rappers but fans are hopeful that the news is true.

Nicki posted a video to Instagram thanking her fans for attending her Chicago concert which saw a 22 thousand strong crowd come to see her perform.

In the clip she said "Chicago I love you and I'll never forget you, you guys made me so happy and I can't thank you enough. Don't tell anybody what I did to Meek on stage, ok!"

Earlier this summer, Meek told a radio interviewer "Nicki ain't pregnant, but I wish". Nicki then took to Twitter to say: ""No matter wut he, or anyone else says, Onika Tanya Maraj won't be pushing anyone1 out her vajayjay, until she's married. Now check that. "

In one of her latest Instagram posts Nicki Minaj can be heard calling out a man trying to sell fake Minaj merchandise.

Consider this a fair warning to anyone out there with a few extra concerts t-shirts knocking around. If they have Nicki’s face on them then you better hope they are the real deal. She does not take this kind of thing lightly it seems.

The non-nonsense Anaconda singer does not approve of this man’s attempts to earn some cash by selling fake T-shirts with her image on them outside her concerts.

Earlier today she posted the video of the man holding several of her Pinkprint album tour t-shirts while standing on the side of a road.

The 32-year old asks the man what he thinks he’s doing with the fake merchandise and goes on to enquire a little further while she’s at it.

Can I have a shirt? When u drive past a person selling your stolen t-shirts on the highway. #ThePinkprintTOUR

A video posted by Nicki Minaj (@nickiminaj) on

“Can I have a shirt? Where did you get those shirts, sir?”

Clearly he was not expecting to pump into the hip-hop star, naturally his next move was to whip out his phone to record the whole incident.

The icing on the cake was that fact that not only did a car of screaming and crying Nicki fans drive past seconds later, but apparently the man then posted his snap of the incident on line shortly after.

Nicki Minaj has just reported that she is going to follow in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and produce a new mobile game.

Ever since Kim somehow managed to add mobile app entreprenuer to her CV, there has been a seriously long line of celebrities wanting to get in on a bit of the action… not to mention cold, hard cash.

And this week, it was announced that Nicki is the new face of developer Glu's forthcoming celebrity-focused game, which is said to include her likeness, voice and creative direction.

Glu's CEO Niccolo de Masi said in a statement: "I am thrilled to welcome the undisputed queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj to Glu's growing list of celebrity partners".

The new game will not launch until next summer but Nicki has reported to be very happy with the venture. No wonder she's happy since Kim Kardashian: Hollywood game racked in a whopping €68m since it launched in 2014.

It has also been reported that Katy Perry and Jason Statham are next the get in on the big bucks with a mobile game.

It hasn’t been a good week for Nicki Minaj and rapper Meek Mills.

In case you hadn’t heard; Meek Mills attempted to call out fellow rapper Drake on Twitter recently and it didn’t go very well. He accused Drake of not writing his own songs.

Drake’s huge fan base however were very quick to respond and they were ruthless about the whole scenario.

Meek Mills other half, Nicki, was also getting a lot of heat from social media users who were fast to drag the hip-hop star into the drama.  Which is all very awkward because Ms Minaj and Drake are pretty much celeb BFFs who have worked together successfully multiple times.

However, it looks like Meek is none to impressed with Nicki’s lack of response to the feud he now has with Drake, and Drake’s fans.

That is possibly why reports are now saying that Nicki has put an end to their relationship. Media TakeOut apparently spoke to Nicki’s close friend who said:

“It’s complicated. I think they took their relationship too far, too fast.”

While many of Nicki’s fans might be relieved to hear the news, we don’t think this is exactly the way Meek was hoping his week was going to end.

Oh dear, another tragic ending to another celebrity Twitter feud, when will it end?

The internet was left agog earlier this week when Taylor Swift got her claws out after a misunderstanding with fellow pop star Nicki Minaj… but now it looks like she has finally done the unthinkable and backed down.

Taking to Twitter just a few minutes ago, Taylor offered up an apology to Nicki, saying, "I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I'm sorry, Nicki."

We never thought we'd see that happen, but Nicki was quick to graciously respond, saying, "Everyone makes mistakes."

The short-lived feud kicked off on Monday night when Nicki tweeted her disappointment about not getting a VMA Best Video nomination for her song Feeling Myself. "If I was a different "kind" of artist, Anaconda would be nominated for best choreo and vid of the year as well," she wrote. "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year."

Although the tweets were more of a comment about how racial bias still prevails in the music industry, Taylor took it as a personal slight on her own video for Bad Blood.

"I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.." she wrote at the time.

Since then, both Taylor's enemy Katy Perry AND her bestie Ed Sheeran have both weighed in on the messy Twitter war. With Katy accusing the Blank Space singer of "capitalizing on the takedown of a woman" and Ed defending her to the Daily Telegraph by saying she had done "nothing wrong," this feud has definitely brought about some very mixed opinions.

Now, to wait for Nicki's response to that grovelling apology…

It’s the feud that has engrossed us all – and now that Katy Perry (AND inadvertently, Rihanna) have chipped in too… things have just got a whole lot better.

Following on from yesterday’s explosive social media battle between Tay-Tay Swift and a seemingly snubbed Ms Minaj, yet more A-listers have been adding in their tuppence worth.

And leading the onslaught is certainly Ms Perry, who seriously got the claws out when she accused her former BFF (and now arch nemesis) Taylor of capitalising “on the takedown of a woman”.

Tweeting to her 73million followers, the 30-year-old stated: “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…”

OUCH!

She also then dragged Rihanna, 27, into the dispute, saying the real VMA nominations travesty was that the Barbadian singer’s controversial Bi**h Better Have My Money video wasn’t eligible this year, having only been released recently.

It has long been rumoured that 25-year-old Ms Swift’s hit Bad Blood single was a less-than subtle dig at Katy over unresolved personal issues between the two.

And last September Taylor also said in an interview with Rolling Stone the song was about a female musician and “straight-up enemy”.

Katy furthermore appeared to call her one-time friend a “Regina George in sheep's clothing” on social media.

The feud reportedly ignited when three of Taylor's dancers quit to go work for Katy on her massive world tour, with Swifty explaining in the same Rolling Stone interview: “She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour.

She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”

The pair have also both at one time or another dated Hollywood player, John Mayer.
