Dig out the neck ties and the chequered wrist bands, because Avril Lavigne is back my friends!

The Girlfriend singer made her first red carpet appearance in two years on Friday when she showed off her gorgeous blonde waves at the 25th Annual Race to Erase MS Gala at The Beverly Hilton in California.

"I've been writing songs that are really just powerful and true and honest and sincere and I think people will really be able to relate to it," she explained.

"I've gone through a lot of personal stuff in the past two years and so I've really drawn from that."

Stepping away from the pop-punk genre, Avril revealed that her new record will be "very piano-driven", saying how she wanted to focus more on vocals and lyrics.

“It's more of a vocal record and just like, hearing the lyrics and really hearing the emotion in the vocal. It's very piano-driven, too."

While no official release date has been set, the new album is expected to drop sometime this year, with Avril, who is also producing the record, saying she plans to put the finishing touches on it over the few weeks.

We can't wait to hear the new material!

Justin Timberlake has just announced the release of his fifth studio album, Man of the Woods – and as expected, fans can not contain their excitement.

The singer shared the news in a YouTube clip uploaded on Tuesday, revealing that the new record is due to drop on February 2, with a single due to be released this Friday.

JT explains how the new material is some of the most “personal” he has ever released.

“This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from,” he says in the teaser.

The short video show the singer as he walks through forests, wades through water and shares an intimate moment with wife Jessica Alba.

It's thought that the clip's earthy vibe is in keeping with Justin's reinvented style of music, some of which features in the soundtrack to the video.

It's been over four years since JT's last release, and needless to say fans are ready to hear some new material.

Taylor Swift shocked fans earlier this week by deleting the entirety of her social media accounts.

There is major speculation that this wipe out means that Taylor is planning something big, like a new album.

Now, the country music-turned-pop songstress has had her fandom in uproar, as she has began leaking videos of what see to be snakes onto her Instagram.

A post shared by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

The second video has already been viewed almost three million times, and it was only uploaded this afternoon.

The Taylor Swift fandom is essentially writhing in excitement and agony as they wait in anticipation for the announcement of whatever it is Taylor is plotting.

Fans cannot help but point out how Taylor is using Kim Kardashian's snake emoji slagging to her advantage in the launch of whatever these videos lead up to.

Most fans think that Taylor will drop new music this coming Friday.

Others have said that the snake-like creature looks like it could be a dragon thanks to the pronounced scales covering the body of the creature.

Whatever is happening, it's bound to be something big.

Director Joseph Kahn also tweeted a smiley face in response to the videos.

Kahn has directed a number of Tyalor's music videos before, so fans are hoping that this confirms the new music rumours.

It's been 10 years since British pop rockers, Scouting For Girls, broke onto to music scene and now the band have promised to back to their roots for their upcoming record, 10 add 10.

Following their performance at V Festival this weekend, the band's frontman, Roy Stride, has announced a new album which promises to be “classic Scouting For Girls.”

Speaking to the Press Association, he said, “I went back and listened to the first album and tried to work out things I did on that album which I haven’t done recently.

“They are all songs that work really well live and I listened to all the big songs like Heartbeat, Elvis Ain’t Dead and She’s So Lovely.

“They are all really fast, they are all like 150bpm (beats per minute) and so I started to try and write a lot of fun, fast, cheeky, Scouting For Girls pop songs.”

Roy also revealed that the upcoming album would have a strong 80s influence as well as “two or three songs are the best we’ve ever done.”

The record will include 10 brand new tracks along with a re-release of 10 of the band's greatest hits.

Scouting For Girls are due to embark on a UK and Ireland tour later this year, including a Dublin date at The Academy on Wednesday November 8.

Not content with dominating the worlds of fashion and film, triple threat, Cara Delevingne, is now trying her hand in the music industry – but fans aren't convinced.

The 24-year-old shows off her singing skills in the newly-released single, I Can Feel Everything – a song recorded for the soundtrack of her latest film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and produced by Pharrell Williams.

The video is a montage of scenes from the upcoming flick cut with shots of the actress sporting a number of brightly coloured wigs.

Cara's quirky personality is clear to see as she dances in front of the cosmic background while pulling faces at the camera.

And while we can't say we're loving the song, we've got to hand it to Cara for trying to make a name for herself doing something she loves –  and who knows, maybe it's a grower?

Fans of the model turned actress seem to be equally conflicted and many have taken to Twitter have their say.

Looks like Jess Glynne is the latest singer to receive the Ed Sheeran treatment and we cannot wait to hear what these two have in store.

Not content with dominating the charts by himself, Ed has helped many artists climb their way to the top with his versatile song-writing skills, and now it's fellow flame-haired singer, Jess Glynne's turn to get in on the action.

The Shape of You singer is helping to re-launch Jess's career by co-writing two songs, titled Thursday and Woman Like Me.

According to The Sun, the tracks are set to be “major components” to Jess's new album.

A source told the paper:  “After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board."

“His offerings are set to be major components of Jess’s album — his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.”

2017 has been a busy year for Ed. Having already penned songs for Rita Ora, Liam Payne and Zara Larsson, you'd wonder where the singer finds the time to work on his own career?

Not that he needs to.

Last weekend Ed sold over 300,000 tickets for his 2018 Irish tour and has since announced two extra dates.

Tickets for Páirc Uí Chaoimh, May 6 and Phoenix Park, May 19, go on sale this Saturday at 9:00am through usual outlets.

Miley Cyrus just dropped her latest single Malibu, and it's without a doubt one of the singer's most beautiful tracks to date.

So, it’s fair to say that Miley Cyrus has gone through a number of transformations over the years.

From sweet pop princess to rebellious trendsetter, the singer/ actress really has gone from one extreme to the other.

In a recent interview with Billboard, the 24-year-old opened up about falling back in love with her old flame, Liam Hemsworth and her recent decision to quit smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol.

Miley also revealed that her forthcoming album has been heavily influenced by her relationship and today’s political landscape.

According to Billboard, her new single Malibu, is a love song about fiancé Liam – a song she felt needed to be released as people were “going to talk” about them either way.

“They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam.’’

“So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, ‘This is how I feel’?”

The first started dating back in 2009, but their relationship broke down and the pair parted ways in 2013.

But after a few years apart Miley and Liam decided to give their engagement another go.

Miley admitted that she needed to make a number of changes in life following the split.

“Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognise you any more’.

“We had to re-fall for each other.”

Today, Miley has ditched the part-girl but admits it wasn’t an easy transition.

“I used to [resist change]. But I haven’t smoked weed in three weeks, which is the longest I’ve ever [gone without it].’’

Although Miley’s new album features a political edge, the singer says it’s about opening up the conversation rather than “getting [her] album smashed in the streets.”

“I want to talk to people in a compassionate, understanding way, which people aren’t doing,” she said.
