eyeliner

OK, so we admit that as a group, we are self-diagnosed beauty junkies… and PROUD of it.

We are always on the lookout for cool or weird new products to add to our growing collections.

Enter: panda eyeliner.

During a recent Amazon investigation, I discovered the most adorable panda-themed liquid eyeliners, EVER.

Now, I will admit, on the scheme of things, these are probably not the highest quality ever… but look how CUTE, though!

However, you can justify this delightful purchase, as it will only set you back a reasonable €2!

Talk about the perfect stocking-filler!

Are you the kind of person that struggles with liquid eyeliner, no matter how many times you use it?

Yeah well… same.

Achieving that perfect Adele-like flick seems like something of legends, but it is now very VERY doable.

Thanks to a new invention, called the Vamp Stamp, creating that wonderful cat-eye effect has never been easier.

The beautiful @elliekathryne does it her way by angling the VaVaVoom stamp straight out. Love how she owns her Vamp. #wingit

A video posted by The Vamp Stamp® (@the_vampstamp) on

The tool is a double-ended V-shaped stamp that helps you achieve a cat-eye in approximately two seconds… no joke!

Seriously check out the videos for proof… it makes it look SO easy!

Another day, another wing

Simply dip the stamp in your pot of black eyeliner, line it up at the outer corner of your eye where you want your flick to go, and away you go!

The kicker is that the Vamp Stamp isn't available yet, but according to their Instagram, we should expect them "very soon".

We'll be waiting…

Contouring seems to be the one beauty trend that just keeps on giving.  Already it's allowed us to cover sunburn, create chiseled cheeks and draw on better boobs so really it's about time we tried the technique on our eyes.

As most people know, contouring involves a combination of shading and highlighting to enhance desirable attributes while reducing the prominence of our less favourable features and it's because of this the process can be quite product heavy.  But luckily we've found one easy-to-use solution for contouring the eye.

The new Eye & Brow Contouring Palette by Catrice includes one shimmer shade for highlighting the brow bone and three different matt brown colours for adding depth and definition to the eye.

This compact palette comes in two colours (one designed for people with warm skin tones and one for those with cooler complexions), can easily be slotted into any handbag for on-the-go contouring and costs just €4.95.

For added definition, why not apply a line of Catrice’s Glam & Doll Super Black Liner (€3.95)?  The uniquely shaped flexible felt tip on this product allows for the creation of both fine and thick lines and its long-wearing formula means your wings should stay picture perfect all night long.

And for all out glam, stick on a pair of the brand’s new Smokey Eyes Volume Lashes (€4.50).

Catrice’s Autumn/Winter ’16 collection will be available in Penneys stores and pharmacies nationwide this August.

Beauty trends come and go at such a rate it's hard to know which trends are worth investing in and which ones will disappear as quickly as they arrived.  Because of this, we believe the best way to discover if a trend suits you or not is to try it using affordable products first.

In keeping with this idea, we've lined up three great little products which can be used to create some of today's best loved looks and which all cost less than a fiver each to buy.

Proline Graphic Marker Eyeliner (€4.50)

As anyone with an Instagram account will know, winged eyeliner is one beauty trend that is not about to disappear anytime soon but unfortunately that still doesn’t make it any easier to get the hang of.

Wet n Wild’s Proline Graphic Marker Eyeliner is the ultimate solution to messy pots of liquid liner as its easy-to-use marker-shaped applicator allows for the hassle-free creation of those much sought after lines.

Because of its soft angled tip, this product gives users the ability to create both soft and thick lines so it can easily be used to create subtle day and striking night time looks.

This liner comes in two colours – Jetliner Black and Airliner Blue – and while black is generally used for winged looks, we think the navy blue shade is definitely worth a try for anyone seeking liner with a difference.

Mega Glo Contour stick (€5.99)

While contouring can be a complicated and product-heavy process, the new Wet n Wild Mega Glo Contour stick has reduced the trend into a simple double-ended stick which is not only super easy to apply, but is also the perfect size for contouring on the go.

Each stick contains two complimentary colours – a dark brown colour for for shading and a creamier one for highlighting – which are easy to apply due to the narrow stick and super bendable.

For people who want to give contouring a go without making a major make-up investment, this product could certainly be worth a try.

MegaSlicks Lip Gloss (€2.95):

From bomber jackets to dungarees, chokers to tartan minis it seems like 2016's best loved fashion looks have come straight from the 90's and, in beauty terms, there are few trends more 90's than sparkly lip pink gloss.

Wet n Wild's new MegaSlicks Lip Gloss collection comes in 17 hydrating shades which range from clear glosses like Crystal Clear right up to deep burgundy colours like Wined and Dined.

Since the glosses are less than €3 each and contain the lip loving vitamins A and E, why not try the sparkle flecked Crush Grapes for some major 90's feels?

The new Wet n Wild collection starts at €1.99 and is available from select Penney's stores, Dunnes Stores and independent stockists nationwide.

Winged black eyeliner, as many of us girls know, is the perfect, subtle day-to-night makeup look.

But as many of us also know, it is tricky as hell to get perfect and even trickier to get both eyes to match.

In fact, many of our expeditions into cat-flick eyeliner territory usually ends something like this…

For those of you have mastered this total ART due to daily practice, we salute you.

But we all know you haven't mastered winged eyeliner like Adele has (or at least like her make-up artist has).

Adele's eyeliner is a gift and she nails it every, single time.

Many of us have been demanding a Adele eyeliner tutorial from the people who know her best and it seems that our prayers have finally been answered.

"Product cocktailing is key to achieving the intensity and opaqueness of the eyeliner," says Adele's make-up artist, Michael Ashton, who is probably the master of this look.

"I always start by outlining the shape of the liner, working from the inner to outer corner of the eye with a black gel liner.

"I then work the product right into the root of the lashes and then build thickness gradually. Once I'm finished creating the desired shape, I use a waterproof liquid liner with a precision tip to intensify and refine the line, finishing by winging the end of the liner last."

Simples! Speaking to the Cut, Michael also revealed that it was this very look, that would become Adele's trademark, that brought the singer and her talented make-up artist together.

"We were introduced through a mutual friend in the summer of 2007 leading up to the release of her first album, 19. I popped over to her house to trim her fringe and she asked if I could do a quick bit of eyeliner for her before she went to meet friends."

"The eyeliner obviously got the seal of approval and the rest, as they say, is history."

Yes, winged eyeliner history.

When it comes to eyeliner, we all have so many goals but we can rarely achieve them. It is one of those things you need to do well, or don't do at all.

Here are the do's and don'ts of eyeliner to guide you on your next attempt. Try looking at a celebrity make-up look you like and following that for further help.

Do
1. Apply white to the lower waterline to open up your eyes and make them appear wider.

2. Cut corners so you don't completely overdo it and make your eyes look strange.

3. Leave the bottom lash line liquid liner free if you don't want a dramatic look.

Don't
1. Leave a gap between your eyeliner and top lash line. Blend it into your lashes so it emphasises your lashes instead of drawing attention to the gap.

2. Only line the bottom lash line. Your eyes will look droopy and bizarre without anything on the top.

3. Just use it to draw a thick line around your eyes. You will end up with panda eyes. Experiment with different shapes and styles.
