Adele’s make-up artist reveals the KEY to her ever-flawless eyeliner

Winged black eyeliner, as many of us girls know, is the perfect, subtle day-to-night makeup look.

But as many of us also know, it is tricky as hell to get perfect and even trickier to get both eyes to match.

In fact, many of our expeditions into cat-flick eyeliner territory usually ends something like this…

For those of you have mastered this total ART due to daily practice, we salute you.

But we all know you haven't mastered winged eyeliner like Adele has (or at least like her make-up artist has).

Adele's eyeliner is a gift and she nails it every, single time.

Many of us have been demanding a Adele eyeliner tutorial from the people who know her best and it seems that our prayers have finally been answered.

"Product cocktailing is key to achieving the intensity and opaqueness of the eyeliner," says Adele's make-up artist, Michael Ashton, who is probably the master of this look.

"I always start by outlining the shape of the liner, working from the inner to outer corner of the eye with a black gel liner.

"I then work the product right into the root of the lashes and then build thickness gradually. Once I'm finished creating the desired shape, I use a waterproof liquid liner with a precision tip to intensify and refine the line, finishing by winging the end of the liner last."

Simples! Speaking to the Cut, Michael also revealed that it was this very look, that would become Adele's trademark, that brought the singer and her talented make-up artist together.

"We were introduced through a mutual friend in the summer of 2007 leading up to the release of her first album, 19. I popped over to her house to trim her fringe and she asked if I could do a quick bit of eyeliner for her before she went to meet friends."

"The eyeliner obviously got the seal of approval and the rest, as they say, is history."

Yes, winged eyeliner history.
