After learning that a Chanel bag is a more solid investment than a house, our fashion focused daydreams became that bit more luxurious.

And while it is obvious that designer goods will never come cheap, it seems there is no better place to splurge than on the other side of the Irish Sea.

Thanks to Brexit, the pound has fallen to a six year low against the euro which means the UK has some major deals to offer Irish fashion fans.

According to new research from Deloitte, designer goods now cost less in London – when compared in dollars – than anywhere in the world.

Earlier this month, a Speedy 30 Louis Vuitton handbag cost £645 ($802) in London, €760 ($850) in Paris and $970 in New York.

As reported by the BBC, China was the most expensive place to make the purchase, with the same piece costing 7,450 yuan or $1,115.

The argument for a shopping spree is quickly gaining pace.

It certainly seems fashion fever is taking the world by storm this week.

Of course, right now New York is in the middle of hosting its coveted fashion week; but that doesn't mean Ireland is getting left behind, no siree.

In fact, designer department store Brown Thomas has now seriously upped its fashion game – heralding the arrival of MAJOR new labels in Limerick and Galway with an exclusive show.

Yes, international designers positively flooded Co Limerick's Adare Manor, with several firm favourites filling the catwalk.

Top models Roz Purcell, Sarah Morrissey and Ciara Buckley were on hand to show off the new collections – and much of the attire is really eye-catching.

In particular, Roz stunned wearing an electric blue Roland Mouret number; with Ciara Buckley showcasing a popular black Self Portrait jumpsuit.

Sarah Morrissey won us over wearing a Diane Von Frustenberg dress and Jimmy Choo leather thigh-high boots.

Taking place last Friday afternoon, more than 120 stylish guests – including fashion's influential Celia Holman Lee – were treated to champagne and canapes before all the action kicked off.

Among the new brands welcomed to Brown Thomas Limerick are Roland Mouret, Sportmaz, Victoria Beckham Denim (yes!), Cocoa Cashmere, Harris Wharf and Paige Denim. Jimmy Choo and Isabel Marant were also welcomed to the footwear department.

Meanwhile, new brands introduced to Brown Thomas Galway include Harris Wharf and Cocoa Cashmere, with Isabel Marant also arriving to their shoe collection.

Key trends from the international runway were also unveiled on the day, giving attendees the chance to jump the gun and embrace the latest looks before anyone else.

So for A/W '15 and S/S '16 you'll need to get your head around the likes of Retro Futuristic, Couture Construction and Gothic Girl (all three of which were among our favourite key trends showcased on the afternoon).

The fashion show opened with Peter Pilotto, followed by Roksanda and Mary Katrantzou and ended with the dramatic (swoon!) Victoria Beckham

Celebrities were certainly out to shock their fans at the VMAs last week as many stars arrived in barely-there or naked dresses.

At the VMAs, stars can really show their true self – along with their very-true style.

So it was surprising when both Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj donned the red carpet wearing dresses from a designer that is virtually unknown.

The attention-grabbing, sheer dresses were not the creations of celeb-loved Versace or Givenchy, oh no.

These dresses were by a designer named LaBourjoisie.

Yep, our faces were just as confused as your's right now.

LaBourjoisie is a Lebanese designer label.

Their founder and head-designer, Antoine Salamah, spoke to the New York Post about his first ever red-carpet moment.

"The feeling of watching [Spears and Minaj] was overwhelming," he said. “I felt so proud that they chose to wear dresses from a Lebanese designer.”

LaBourjoisie was founded in 2002 after Antoine studied in Beirut's CAMM Fashion Academy.

His famous followers to date include Mexican pop diva Gloria Trevi and Khloe Kardashion; who stepped out in one of his numbers for boyfriend and Houston Rockets star James Harden’s birthday bash last week.

LaBourjoisie's dress start at a whopping $10,000 (€11,200), so it might be a little over our price range.

Antoine says: “Our customers are fashionistas that love to glow at their events and be the centre of attention.”

Nick Grimshaw has certainly been making headlines since being announced as a judge on the forthcoming, newly revamped series of The X Factor.

And now it seems he will also be adding designer to his growing CV: it has emerged that Topman has enlisted the radio DJ's talents for a new capsule collection.

The 30-year-old, who is thus following in the footsteps of his supermodel BFF Kate Moss, let the exciting news slip on Instagram.

Nick posted a picture of a black suede and fringed jacket with a tag attached that read: Nick Grimshaw X Topman. He also included the caption "coming soon".

This isn't the first time Nick has delved into the fashion world, as he is an official ambassador for London Collections: Men along with model David Gandy and musician Tinie Tempah.

Mr Grimshaw has certainly been busy recently; he was spotted in Ibiza just last week along with fellow X Factor judge Rita Ora, as well as Ms Moss. It is believed he was on the Spanish party island working with BBC Radio 1 as part of the Ibiza 2015 festival.

He and Rita have just finished filming the audition stages of the reality TV show singing contest, and evidently took the opportunity to have a spot of down-time in the sun.

We can't wait to see the rest of his Topshop collection, and reckon Nick might even wear a few of the pieces himself once the X Factor live finals kick off.

With summer fast approaching, it's time to start planning our outfits for the array of weddings, race-meets, garden parties and other formal occasions that are forthcoming.

And now there is good news for those stuck in a serious style rut, or those who feel they can't find standout pieces on the High Street: talented young Irish designer Niamh O'Neill is back with her third collection for Kilkenny. Featuring coats and dresses in bright, eye-catching colours, the items are certainly a breath of fresh air.

The likes of Niamh's Emma Dress (€365) and Christine Coat (€515) show off her signature style to perfection.

The Emma Dress sports a beautiful metallic leather bow, while the Christine Coat has a subtle jacquard design. Both are available in a striking turquoise, or a light pink and cream combo.

The Eleanor Dress costs €395 is one of our favourites from the collection. A beautiful shade for summer, it also boasts Italian-made rose gold broaches (which can be removed if you feel like a change). It has 3/4 length sleeves and the fit is extremely flattering. Team with a pair of heels and a delicate clutch for a instantly complete outfit.

One of the pieces that immediately caught our eye was the new hot-pink Laura Dress and Venice Coat to match. The dress costs €365 while the coat cost €490, and we reckon it would be a great buy for anyone eager to enter a Ladies Day competition: with a clean-cut neckline it's simple, but the colour absolutely means it's striking too.

Kilkenny has been promoting Irish design for more than 50 years and has 11 stores across Ireland.

You can buy any of the Niamh O'Neill collection at the Kilkenny shop in Nassau Street, Dublin, Cork or Galway. You can also visit www.kilkennyshop.com.

Look, we enjoy a pay-day splurge as much as the next gal. But there's a big different between dropping a cheeky €100 on a much coveted and considered piece… and parting with tens of thousands all for a single item.

And while a well-nurtured handbag-obsession is the prerogative of any otherwise sound-minded individual, we just can't imagine – EVER! – forking out €40,000 on what ultimately amounts to a fancy sack. Even fashionist Kylie Jenner sticks to the likes of the Celine trapeze, which will set you back a more reasonable (in celebrity terms anyway) €3,000.

Still, this season pretty much every high-end designer has a range of luxury leather goods that cost eye-watering amounts.

There is, for example, a black crocodile backpack from The Row – the brand founded by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in 2006 – featuring a top handle, adjustable shoulder straps, and a drawstring fastening. The former child-actresses have previously defended their price-points, and their collections are selling: late last year in LA they opening their first store.

The Row crocodile backpack costs €39,550

Those in the market for something a little more affordable could opt for Gucci's grey tote, a steal at €28,000. Made from crocodile skin and calf leather, it is handcrafted in Italy and is described as "a true heirloom piece", as well as something that "looks chic with everything from tailoring to casual weekend outfits". Indeed.

Snap up this Gucci totes for €28,000

Or what about another twist on crocodile skin: Bottega Veneta has its own Roma tote complete with three suede-lined compartments. It fastens with a stylish padlock and key, a feature which apparently is "perfect for keeping valuables safe and organised". The cost?  €25,800.

For €25,800, pick up this item from Bottega Veneta

Alternatively, inject a splash of colour into your wardrobe with a Saint Laurent 'sac du jour' in blush rose. For €23,500 you too can make this "timeless investment". Made from crocodile leather (what else) there is also a soft leather lining and subtle gold-toned branding and padlock.

Saint Laurent has this bag on offer for €23,500

Finally, check out Fendi's take on the crocodile tote (we're sensing a pattern here). Made in Italy, the cobalt blue shade is certainly striking. It has plenty of space for your daily essentials and an optional shoulder strap. The bag is finished with polished silver detail on the edges, and will set you back €22,000.

For €22,000, this Fendi bag can be yours

Many of Stella McCartney’s followers were left angry and disappointed yesterday when the designer shared an image of a model wearing one of her designs.

The photo sparked a massive outcry from her followers with people saying she was worryingly thin: “girl’s arms look scary. Shame on you Stella.”

Another follower said that the model must realise she is not healthy: “No offence to the model but you must be aware you are not healthy.”

Stella was then forced to pull the photo, replacing it with a different model in the same design before issuing an apology through her rep to The Independent: “We are a house that celebrates all shapes, all sizes, all races and all ages. We should have been more mindful… It was a quick snap done backstage that was misleading. We listened to our followers and we took it down and replaced it. We can only apologise if we offended anyone.”

Despite the replacement of the photo, followers are still unimpressed with many saying: “Considering what a huge influence stella is on young people and as the mother of a young girl I’m appalled at the previous ‘model’ pic.”

We are so excited about this news! Emma Roberts is famed for working a flawless fashion style both on and off the red carpet which is why we are so excited about her latest venture, jewellery designing.

The star is a Guest Bartender on BaubleBar and has created a 20-piece collection of jewellery that is true to her own style – dainty, feminine and strong. The We're The Millers star has admitted that ever since she was a young girl she has wanted to go down this route – aw, how sweet – and when she was approached by BaubleBar she jumped at the opportunity, as you would.

Her collection is showcased as a story with each chapter showing off a different piece from her range. Chapter 1 features “outspoken statements with graphic motifs, bold colours and exaggerated spikes” – everything you need to pull off the ‘I’m ever so pretty but tough’ look. You know the kind we’re talking about. Chapter 2 is the more feminine side while Chapter 3 will ensure you channel your “Earth Goddess” vibe. Chapter 4 and  5 are all about the big statements while the final chapter, Chapter 6, is all about being “fierce yet feminine and undeniably on trend”.

Feast your eyes on the following designs – we would love to get our hands on that bracelet.

It’s always the way, you spritz on some perfume before you leave the house but by the time you get to the bus stop, it’s already gone.

Cue you pulling out your giant perfume bottle from your bag, no doubt getting someone in the eye as you spray it around your head.

However, French designer Julien Cohen may have the solution to our perfume woes.

Instead of carrying a big bottle of perfume around with us, Julien has designed jewellery that acts like a teeny tiny bottle.

Talking about his OBO range, Julien says it means “perfume, anytime and anywhere”.

In case you were worried about spilling a little of your perfume onto your top, Julien assures that the jewellery has undergone extensive leak-proof tests: “The perfume is leak-proof and it has been tested under high pressures to ensure that our roll-on gives the same results as a classic pump dispenser.”

The dispensers come in a variety of jewellery styles including bracelets and necklaces so no more whipping your bottle of scent out of your bag, now you can subtly reapply your perfume and no body need ever know!
