anniversary

At this stage, most of us know that the dynamic within Girls Aloud was a little awkward at times.

While they all started out as earnest young wannabes back in 2002, their rise to fame saw a shift in allegiances among group members.

Rumours abound that Nadine and Cheryl often clashed while Sarah was regularly seen as the outsider of the group, and it looks like a recent post on Cheryl's Instagram page may finally confirm that.

Celebrating the 15-year anniversary of the band's formation, the mum-of-one chose to share a photo of herself alongside Nicola and Kimberley.

While both Nicola and Kimberley were given a lengthy tribute, Nadine and Sarah got little more than a mere tag.

"Crazy how time flies. 15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on," she began.

"We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments to put the cherry on top."

Sitting here drinking coffee with these two and watching babies 15 years later !!! Crazy how time flies…15 years ago today some of the best, craziest years of my life were just beginning. I had no idea what a life journey I was starting out on. We had some of the most amazing times of our lives and made some incredible pop moments to put the cherry on top In the end I left with these two amazing, inspiring gorgeous souls and the best friends anyone could ever ask for. You blessed me and I will never be able to thank you enough for the support, love and loyalty you brought to our group. I am so proud of what we achieved together. Love you all @lilcola @kimberleywalshofficial @nadinecoyle @sarahnicoleharding Thank you#Girlsaloud15

So far, so good, but th rest of the post has left Girls Aloud fans in no doubt that there is little love lost between Cheryl, Nadine and Sarah.

Referring to Nicola and Kimberley, Cheryl continued: "In the end I left with these two amazing, inspiring gorgeous souls and the best friends anyone could ever ask for."

"You blessed me and I will never be able to thank you enough for the support, love and loyalty you brought to our group. I am so proud of what we achieved together."

Fans were quick to notice the disparity, with one writing; "She has only specified 2 but tagged them all – nadine and sarah haven't made the cut."

Others jumped to Cheryl's defence, with one social media user writing:"They shouldn't be attacked for being closer to each other than the others."

"Like I said, they mentioned the other two to show that they haven't forgotten they were apart of it to. I'm sorry but I've seen both nadine and sarah post things and crop the other three out, so cut these three some slack."

Cheryl's post has amassed almost 175,000 likes since yesterday.

It's been ten years since the world came face to face with an anguished teen desperately defending his idol, Britney Spears.

In footage which has been viewed millions of times over the course of the last decade, Chris Crocker can be seen tearfully demanding that the press 'leave Britney alone'.

Due to both his theatrical delivery and the vaguely unsettling nature of the clip, chatshow hosts and comedians fell upon it with glee, instantly identifying material which they could parody time and time again.

And as the footage reaches its tenth birthday, the star of the clip has taken the time to reflect on both the video and the various reasons he set about creating it.

In an explanation which may stun many, Chris explained that his devotion to Britney was born of his own domestic situation.

"10 years ago on this day, I defended my favourite pop star against the media," he began in a post which has been liked more than 10,000 times.

"Whie I'm known for doing comedy: This was the one video that I was serious in. That year, my mom was battling addiction and became homeless after serving for our country in Iraq."

"The struggles in my home life and family life made me defensive over any woman going through a hard time," Chris explained.

Reflecting on internet culture back in 2007, Chris continued: "[It] was a very different, less LGBT friendly place at the time. Nothing I said was listened to."

The aftermath of the video's release has stayed with Chris who recalled: "I was mocked for my feminity. I was called every gay slur in the book. Talk show hosts questioned if I was a man or a woman, after playing the clip."

Realising that the sentiment of his video was attracting mirth not understanding, Chris explained that he eventually played up to the 'cartoonish' perception the press and public had of him.

"But the truth is and always was about standing up for someone and not standing idly by when you see someone being hurt by others."

Gratefult to see a changing tide, Chris added: "In the 10 years since this video – a lot of LGBT YouTubers are celebrated for who they are. I often wonder if I had started videos later, if I would've been treated differenty."

Finishing the poignant post with a nod to his initial motivations, Chris concluded: "But what I will say is this: Even if I got a public beating for standing up for what's right; I'm happy I did. And I'll always love Britney Spears."

And with that, we're giving a standing ovation.

It's been four years since Glee star, Corey Monteith, died of an accidental drug and alcohol overdose in a hotel room in Vancouver.

The Canadian actor, who was best known for playing Finn Hudson in the smash hit TV show,  had been due to check out after a seven-night stay in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, and when he failed to do so hotel staff entered his room and discovered his body.

At the time of his death, the 31-year-old was in a relationship with co-star, Lea Michele, who last night paid tribute to her former partner on his four-year anniversary.

Honouring the late star, Lea shared a photo of the pair during happier times in an upload which has amassed almost 800,000 likes in just 14 hours.

Kanye is renowned for killing it in the anniversary present department when it comes to wife Kim Kardashian West.

From a 6 foot tall flower wall to a private symphony orchestra in their living room, Kanye definitely pulls out all the stops.

This year, for their third wedding anniversary, the rapper sent the reality TV star a whole host of white roses in a very interesting format.

Kim dubbed the bountiful bouquets as floating flowers, but fans disagree.

Twitter users have taken to the social media app to share their thoughts on the floral arrangement's resemblance to a particular vegetable.

Yup, it's cauliflower.

People have taken to social media en masse to call out the likeness to the versatile veg, and are calling the gesture a bit of a fail.

Who knows? Maybe Kim is just a massive fan of the root vegetable?

Want to celebrate the second anniversary of Ireland saying YES to marriage equality?

There are plenty of ways to celebrate the fact that two years ago, Ireland finally got its act together and legalised gay marriage.

One way to do it in style is by attending this epic-sounding rooftop party, which judging by the description is set to be completely lit.

Hosted in Temple Bar, the Spinster Yes Equality Roof Party is kicking off on Saturday night, with Lady J playing the best tunes under the stars.

With deals that include three particular drinks for €10.00, even a far away pay day is no excuse.

Another amazing aspect of the event is that all profits from the night will be going to the Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment.

Celebrating our rights to love whoever we want while supporting women's rights to body autonomy sound pretty good to us.

Congratulations are in order for Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka – they're celebrating 13 years together.

Neil posted a rather heartwarming post on his Instagram page to mark the occasion last night, sharing a snap of his hubby and their son, Gideon.

The 43-year-old let his fans know that their anniversary is actually on April 1.

"Thirteen years and one day ago, I crossed paths with the guy on the left.

"The adventures have never ceased. The love has never waned. The gifts are never ending (the guy on the right, e.g.).

"Happy Anniversary, @dbelicious. You're the best," he wrote.

Meanwhile, David wrote a post of his own.

Taking to the same social networking site, he captioned an image of Neil: "Yesterday was mine and @nph 13th year anniversary!!

If you've been to an Adele concert this year (lucky you) then you'll know that at the end, cannons of confetti explode all over the stadium with little notes written by Adele herself.

They either say things like, "everybody loves the things you do," and "we could of had it all," to cute, "thanks for coming xo," messages on white paper.

They add a special touch to her gigs, however when she was in Nashville this week, a few pink pieces of paper fell down.

The concert in Nashville was on the same day that marked Adele's five year anniversary with her partner Simon Konecki, and he was the genius behind adding in the little pink notes.

He wrote swoon-worthy things like, "you are an angel," "I love you," "Happy anniversary," and "love you long time," on them.

Aw lads, what a boyfriend to have!

It's been seven years since former Boyzone member, Stephen Gately, passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition in the home he shared with his husband Andrew Cowles in Spain.

And there's no doubt that the void he left in the band he helped to form in the early 90s is as big today as it was back in 2009.

Taking to Instagram last night, Ronan Keating paid tribute to the friend he described as 'his wingman' at his funeral seven years ago.

Sharing a snap of Stephen, Boyzone's lead singer acknowledged the songer's love of all things Disney, writing: "Hey Steo. "A true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart." — Zeus (Disney'sHercules)"

Finishing the post which has clocked up more than 6,000 likes so far, Ronan added: "Miss ya bro."

Paying their own tributes, fans of the Dubliner added their own thoughts with one writing: "And Steo was the biggest hero of them all. A ray of sunshine in our lives. RIP, Steo. 7 years on but never ever forgotten."

"How can I miss someone so much who I didn't even know?? He touched my heart and I will never forget him," added another.

Stephen's funeral was celebrated in the Church of St. Laurence O'Toole on October 17 2009.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since Anne Hathaway first played Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries.

And while the film’s anniversary has left us feeling both nicely nostalgic and bloody ancient, it seems to have given its lead some grateful feels.

Yesterday the 33-year-old actress took to Instagram to mark the occasion with a dancing Princess Mia gif and a few heartfelt words.

She wrote: “It’s been 15 years (say it with me) SHUT UP!!!!!!  To all the fans who loved Mia, Louie, Lily, Joe, Michael and, of course, Queen Clarisse, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Anne continued her message by paying tribute to the film’s director Garry Marshall who died last month at the age of 81.

The star said: “And to Garry Marshall, thank you for making me a princess.  I love you always my beloved friend and teacher, and I miss you every day xx.”

The Alice in Wonderland star made her film debut in The Princess Diaries in 2001.  Three years later she reprised her role as Mia for the The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

Earlier this year it was rumoured that a third movie could be added to the series, but as of yet no progress seems to have been made on that front so for now we'll just have to wait with fingers crossed.
