It looks like any chance of John Galliano replacing Oscar de la Renta when the time comes have been firmly cast aside.

The controversial Galliano who was head designer for Dior from 1996-2011 undertook a 3 week trial with de la Renta recently.

Galliano was let go by Dior following a scandal in which he made anti-semetic comments.

Of this trial, de la Renta said: “We all loved having John here in the studio and would like him to find a way of having him here more often.”

As de la Renta is now 81, it has been said he had hopes that Gallinao would be his successor.

This was Galliano’s most prominent fashion job since the Dior scandal.

However, following this it would seem the deal is off.

Katie Hopkins – who had a very public showdown with Peaches Geldof on TV show This Morning – has spoken out for the first time about the 25-year-old’s tragic death.

Katie had previously embarked on a Twitter feud with Peaches and criticised the young mum in her newspaper column late last year.

The former Apprentice contestant and prolific tweeter, came under fire on Tuesday when she failed to acknowledge Peaches’ death on the site.

Katie has now broken her silence saying, “Peaches didn’t want a tweet from me”.

Writing in her column for The Sun newspaper, she said, “Peaches didn’t want a tweet from me. She didn’t welcome it in life. She certainly didn’t need it in death. She was tough enough not to seek approval from anyone. I admire that trait in others.”

“When terrible things happen, our job is not to cause a fuss but to leave people to their grief,” she said. “Now Sir Bob, her husband and the children need to be left in private to clutch on to anything that keeps them afloat.”

Katie went on, “Growing up without a mum brought heartbreak into Peaches’ life. Her death threatens to do the same for her boys. History has done a terrible thing and repeated itself.”

“Peaches didn’t need tweets from celebrities or strangers – she just needed a mother’s love,” she added.
