Well, this gig announcement is one for the history books!

According to the Sunday World,  U2 will be marking the end of their Innocence and Experience tour by performing in the city where it all started for them.

It has been 26 years since the famous foursome last played in Dublin's Point Theatre so we wonder if they'll choose to return to the venue this December!

With reportedly 72,000 tickets due to go on sale in the coming weeks, this sounds like one concert not to be missed for any die-hard Bono fan.

Commenting on the tour which is kicking  off in Vancouver in May, Arthur Fogel, president of Global Touring and chairman of Global Music, said: "The anticipation for a U2 tour is always extraordinary, as it should be. Following the record-setting 360° Tour I'm amazed that they still want to be ground-breaking, this time on a more intimate scale."

Hell, Bono fan or not, this is big news!

The frontman of one of the biggest bands in the world must have thought that home was the only place he wanted to be after suffering a terrifying accident last month.

U2 star Bono was spotted on Dublin’s fair streets at the weekend while recuperating from a bike accident which took place in New York in November.

The 54- year-old musician required surgery after the accident in Central Park and the frightening incident meant that the band had to cancel the week-long residency appearance they had scheduled for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

It looked like the dad-of-four was keen to avoid photographers in the capital on Saturday and attempted to conceal his injured arm beneath his cosy winter coat. His trademark sunglasses also disguised the shattered eye socket he suffered. Ouch.

His injuries, which also included a fractured little finger and a broken funny bone, meant that in addition to missing The Tonight Show, he was also forced to pull out of U2’s performance at a World Aid’s Day benefit concert in Time Square at the beginning on December.

We hope Bono finds a little comfort in his home city after a very stressful month!

It has been revealed that Bono and four of his friends were ‘extremely lucky’ to avoid crashing yesterday after one of the doors fell off the plane they were travelling in, mid flight.

The private jet, which was carrying the U2 frontman, was making its way from Dublin to Berlin when the freak accident occurred.  Sources have said: “They were at an altitude where anything could have happened and they are all feeling very lucky to be alive.”

Commenting on the shocking accident, Germout Freitag, a German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation official said: “There can be many reasons for this incident. Either something broke on the door or the door wasn't closed properly. Those are the usual problems that occur."

Thankfully no one was injured, but the same can’t be said for the passengers’ luggage which fell out during the incident and it’s unknown whether it landed over water or land, but latest reports have suggested that a piece of the airplane had landed near the German capital.

Bono’s bandmates, Larry, Adam and The Edge were not on board this flight as Bono had made the decision to fly ahead of them in order to attend a diplomatic event.

What a terrifying thing to happen!

If you ever wondered whether or not Sharon Osbourne was a fan of U2, well, she answered your question quite bluntly on Twitter last night!

While some people are falling over themselves to express how in awe they are of U2’s generosity in giving away their new album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes, Sharon Osbourne does not agree:

Woah – she certainly didn't hold back there! And Sharon isn’t the only one who is less than impressed with the band’s deal with Apple. Irish singer songwriter Paul Brady felt it was the “nail in the coffin” of the music business:

Yikes. Looks like U2 have made quite a few enemies with this move. Though we’re sure they won’t be too worried when they’re splashing the cash. Life is just not fair!

Kodaline and U2 gave Kings of Leon a big Irish welcome after their massive gig in Dublin last night!

Lead singer Jared Followill posted a snap and video to Instagram, showing the gift they received from Kodaline – their own Guinness pump – with a note that read, ‘Happy 4th of July from Kodaline. Have a few cheeky Guinness on us…’

A FEW?!

The video was accompanied by the caption, “Lots of classy Irish folks! Thanks for the pints, boys!”

Their mega gift from Bono and the boys was a hamper of pricey champagne and, of course, more Guinness!

Jared posted the snap to Instagram with the caption, “Always classy. Always welcoming. The band that taught us how to do things on the road”.

We’re sure KOL  had a night to remember…or not, after their epic Marlay Park gig, thank to our Irish stars!

Some songs should be avoided for about two months after a break-up.

They will make you sad and probably make you cry too.

Best not to be reminded. Always pack earphones in case they play in public too. Ugly cry in public? No thanks.

1. Adele ‘Someone like you’
Even Adele cried singing this at the Brit Awards and she wrote it. Rough stuff.

2. Jeff Buckley ‘Last Goodbye’
Oh, the pain in his beautiful voice.

3. Eric Carmen ‘All by Myself’
Do you want to be as low as Bridget Jones was when she sang this? No, no you don’t.

4. U2 ‘With or Without You’
Ross and Rachel’s break-up song. Enough said.

5. Anything by Celine Dion
Seriously.
