There is something quite amazing about packing your bag, setting up camp for the next two or three weeks in one place and yet still manage to visit a ton of destinations.

Here are 10 reasons why campervans are the best way to travel:

  1. All you need is a map and an open road.
  2. There are tons of campsites in every country where you can set up for the night and they are pretty cheap.
  3. You can change your mind at the last minute knowing you have a bed to sleep in that night.
  4. You can have a nap whenever you want.
  5. No need for restaurants, you have a kitchen travelling with you.
  6. You can visit as many places as you want without having to pack and unpack your bag all the time.
  7. You will meet more locals.
  8. You will be able to see the world very differently when sleeping in the back of a van compared to a hotel room.
  9. You will be able to wake up and enjoy your breakfast just as the sun rises.
  10. You don’t even need to get out of bed to see the sun rise.

Flights delays can ruin your holiday and put you in a bad mood. Unfortunately flight delays are out of your control and you can usually blame them on weather, some mechanical fault or industrial actions. While there is nothing you can do to stop them, you can prevent them from ruining your trip.

Get what is owed to you
If your flight is delayed by more than a few hours make sure you talk to the flight operator to see what you deserve. Even if it is only water it will mean you won’t have to pay for it.

Pamper yourself
Flight delays can be boring and expensive so make sure you take some time out to pamper yourself without spending any money. Spend some time sprucing yourself up at the beauty counter or make sure you smell nice with a few spritz of sample perfumes.

Have a chat
Pass some time by chatting with the person sitting beside you. You never know what you might discover.

Make sure you are insured
Making sure you are insured will go a long way in ensuring you have as much of a stress-free delay as possible.

Airports can be annoying, really annoying, especially if you are waiting on a delayed flight. There is nothing worse than being stuck for hours with nothing to occupy you but your phone and dodgy wifi.

The most annoying things about airports include:

Too few seats
You’d think by now there would be enough seats to accommodate more than a handful of people.

Uncomfortable seats
When you do manage to grab one you spend most of your time arranging bags and coats to make it at least somewhat comfy.

A lack of power sockets
Phone battery is flat, your flight is delayed two hours and you have nowhere to charge your phone. Not such fun times.

Paying for wifi
Seriously, this is just wrong. Then there is the added expensive of buying magazines when it doesn’t work to keep us amused while we wait. And to top it off you have to show your boarding card for every single purchase.

The boarding call
Telling you it’s time to board and leaving you in the queue for ten minutes. You’re going to get a seat so just wait until the queue starts moving.

Planning on heading to the States this summer? Why not make it a little different by backpacking around for a few days

Big Bend National Park, Texas
This 30 mile gorgeous park is pretty secluded from tourists and is full of mountains, woodlands and arroyos. The trail is pretty rugged but you’ll experience sunsets and night skies that you would never have imagined existed.

Mahoosuc Mountains, Maine
This is a 40 mile trail around Grafton Notch and you will be introduced to peaks, swimming holes and granite walls. You might even bump into a moose.

Appalachian Trail, Georgia to Maine
This is the longest trail in America so is a must see if you are a keen hiker. It spans 3,505km and goes through six national parks and eight forests. This is for the professional, so if you just fancy a nice walk with pretty views avoid it at all costs!

Had a stressful few weeks and looking to chill? Head to these remote locations, although some may be too hard to find:

Easter Island
Easter Island is located a few thousand miles west of the Chilean Coat. There are only around 4,000 people living there so you are guaranteed to find a quiet spot. There is a small airport on the island so you will be able to fly there.

Cape York Peninsula, Australia
Cape York Peninsula is located at the very tip of Australia and only with 18,000 people, most of them part of the country’s aboriginal tribes, you are guaranteed some quiet. Unfortunately, much of the area is inaccessible and it is considered to be one of the world’s largest undeveloped areas.

Motuo County, China
Untouched by the modern world, this small community doesn’t even have a road leading to it. So, if you decide here is where you want to go you will have to go through the Himalayas before crossing a 200 meter suspension bridge.

Travelling light often means leaving your camera at home and just sticking to using the camera on you phone. Unfortunately, these snaps don’t always come out exactly as you want them too so, we have compiled a list of problems and how to fix them:

Grainy texture
The sandy effect across your pictures that you didn’t ask for is usually down to the settings on your phone. To fix it change your settings by turning up the contrast or by taking a bigger picture size to reduce the sandy look.

Blurry
There is nothing worse than thinking you have taken a great shot to realise that it is actually blurry. This is usually caused by a shaky hand or lack of lighting. To stop this problem, hold the shutter button down for a few seconds longer than you normally would and make sure there is adequate lighting.

No flash – no problem
The more light you have the better your shots will be but that doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to take great snaps if your phone doesn’t have a flash. You can often use a photo editing feature on your phone to make them look better or simply move until there is more light focused on your subject.

Travel is at the top of the list of to dos for a lot of people. However, ditching the comfort of your home and job can bring about its own financial challenges. No matter how much you have saved, these tips will ensure you don’t end up in a strange country with no ticket home.

Pack appropriately
Know where you are going and what you will need to wear – pack both warm and cold clothes so that you won’t end up spending a fortune on buying clothes when you go from a warm country to a cold one.

Go for a hostel
No matter how much you may crave for the comfort of a hotel room with room service and clean sheets you can’t afford it – not if you want to keep going for the year.

Keep track of your expenses
Just because you’re travelling doesn’t mean you should forget the basics of your finance class. An excel sheet on your mobile phone is a really easy way for you to keep track of your expenditures.

Walk
Walk to as many places as possible to keep travel expenses down – you will see a lot more of the area than you would on the seat of a car or bus.

So you’ve decided to kick the bucket, pack your bags and leave for greener pastures but before you say “see ya laters”, here are a few things you should know first:

Distance matters – no matter how quick you can catch a flight
Believing home is just a plane ride away may help your decision to move abroad; however, you should factor in how far you’re going and how expensive airfare is.

There is a lot of paperwork
Getting a visa is time consuming and can be quite expensive. Make sure you set aside time to fill it in properly and read over your answers before you click send. It will all be worth it when you get that letter in the post though.

Time zones
Different time zones mean you can’t just simply pick up your phone and call your mum when you like. Depending on where you are your family may be asleep while you are awake, so schedule your calls in.

Life at home will move on
While you start a new life abroad don’t just assume everything at home will stay the same. Your friends will still go out without you and social media can be a cruel reminder. However, before you get too downhearted remember that you too have moved on to a new life.

There is nothing quite like a trip around the world with your BFF; however before you go, here are a few things you may want to consider before you board the plane.

Choose your companion wisely
While she may be your BFF at home does that mean you will be able to stand her day in day out for months at a time? If your answer no, maybe you should reconsider your choice of friend.

Plan what you want to do together
What you consider to be the ultimate trip may be your friend’s idea of horror. Make sure everyone knows where they stand, if one fancies climbing mountains while the other plans on lying about in the sun you may need to compromise.

You will end up fighting
Spending everyday with someone is bound to end in a few squabbles, just don’t let them escalade. If you need time out from each other go exploring on your own – make sure you know where each other is though before you wander down strange alleyways.

Pick up a few strays along the way
Make a few friends with fellow travellers or locals. Not only will you be introduced to areas that you never thought of visiting if will also give you and your mate a break from staring at each other across the dinner table.
